A friend of mine has just got an HD2 on t-mobile, He bought some sennheiser cx500's. He said when you plug them in the phone keeps randomly dialing out to the last person you called. I was sceptical but he showed me and it is true, I have some CX500's myself and not experienced any issues but I haven't used them much. I tried his pair and it did dial out once, but then couldn't get it to do it again.
Has anyone else had any wierd experiences with headphones?
Cheers
Call last number is linked to a double click of the headphones button. I can only assume he has a loose connection somewhere, that when it shorts out twice in a row makes the phone think he's double clicked the headset button.
I use a pair of V-Moda headphones and like you have never had this problem.
Thanks, do you know if there is a way of disabling the double click option?

Did you manage to solve the problem?
No, I don't often use that setup, so I thought I touched the screen by accident. But now I see it's indeed a bug somewhere in the setup.

Hello
I am really beginning to hate this lousy phone, I have now lost all sound. I picked up the phone to remove some software and noticed I was getting no system sound. So, I opened media player no sound from the music, plugged in headphones and the music was playing. I made a phone call, could speak to and hear the person on the line, I asked them to call me back and nothing.
I have searched the board and found some people saying that the phone sometimes gets stuck in headphone mode, but I was not using the headphones. Anyway I have spent the past 5 minutes inserting, twiddling and removing headphones, but I can not get the sound back, guess it must be hardware failure.
Any ideas or similar problems out there?

I've had this a couple of times and found that a soft reset will sort it out.
I have similar problem--it seems to be the connection to the speaker/ringer. I can get some sound by tapping the top of the case. The small speaker for the earpiece is not affected. Tried resetting anyway to no avail. Will probably send back for repair soon. I am keeping it on vibrate now.

Paul, how long did you have your phone from Orange when it first happened?
I have had mine around 1 month now, I have 'Soft Reset' and 'Hard Reset' but the problem is still there. Did you get yours directly from Orange or a dealer, have you spoken to either?
I am going to call the dealer tommorrow and try to get them to send a swap out, this is an obvious defect if it has died in a month.

Yes resetting does not seem to work, try to get a swap out if you can, I am going to try tommorrow, it has to be a manufacturing fault.

I think you are right, it does appear to be a connection fault. I started media player tapped near the speaker a few times and got a second or two of music then it died again, it gives stuttering sound when tapped.
Repair Info
My Dopod 818 Pro unfortunately also has the same problem. Anyone have any advise on the best way to reach Dopod? I am living in NY and I bought the phone in Wanchai. I tried emailing them, but there has been no response. Thanks in advance.
Hi
Just sent my phone back for a new one, Orange confirmed it was a hardware fault and said I was entitled to a replacement phone. Seems that this is a known issue with the Prophet. They would not say though if it was just part of a bad batch, or generally bad manufacturing. I guess we will see when your phones begin to fail.

Hi,
It happens now and then - not more than around one a month. Not a hardware fault in my case just windows doing its occasional bug thing.

I reckon it's probably a bad batch. I got mine just after they came out and hardware wise it's been fine.
Did anyone see it?
Some times all sounds in Pharos came pitched up and faster than original. Soft reset fixes this, but there is another way connect included wired hands-free, and then switch it off, all sound become normal.
I can't find any reason for this, have anyone a minds about it?
mine never did anything like that... really strange did you call custumer service yet?
No I didn't call customer service. I've seen reports about such problem on 4pda.ru forum, it means that it's not a bug of my device only.
I've made some research, and as I see the problem appear when I plug USB cable only.

Woke up today and noticed I had a lot of missed calls and messages. Tried to send myself a message and noticed there is no sound. Could the hardware be damaged? I did not install anything and I already checked everything on the system. Can anyone give suggestions?

I hate to ask, but I have to really. Do you have ringtone volume turned up? Also, in case you're not aware, you can set ringtone and system volume to be 2 different things.
Other than that, if the volume is turned up fully, can you play a music file and see if that works? Try every possible software solution before thinking it's hardware.

Yep. Did all of that. I even re-flashed the ROM just to make sure but still nothing. Guess I'll have for warranty.

Just one final check - does the earphone socket work? If it does then it's obviously a speaker problem. If the earphones don't work either then it would suggest software, but I really don't see what software could cause this after a ROM flash.
Yes the speakers socket work. Calls are fine. It's just the rear speaker that is not working. I also tried plugging/unplugging the earphones coz it happened before that after removing the earphones there was no sound. But before it worked, now still nothing.

Sounds like it's broken then mate. Sorry to say it, but I reckon you do have to get it replaced. Bad times
Is anyone having a problem where their HD2 is calling the last person you've contacted?
I've been having this problem for a little while now, whenever I plug in my headphones with mic it seems to think I've pressed the action button on them and it starts dialing.
This is not only relevant to headphones with mics, or headphones at all.. because this seems to be happening with my brother as well, except he never uses headphones
I feel that maybe the static build-up, from the friction while having the phone in the pocket, reaches the headphone port sending a pulse, where the phone interprets it as an action.
Mine does it all the time. When the headphones are plugged in it ques up voice dial and calls the last contact as well. It has done this with the default HTC music app and with pocket music and slacker radio. It is so friggin annoying.
is there a way to disable it? it's a little annoying.
Not that I know of. I think it may be a bug in the os of the phone. At first I thought it may be the cookies home tab app i was running but after a while of not using it and running the phone just like it came outta the box it did it again. It doesnt always do it though. It seems almost random. But I really dont know either. maybe it could be a app that we have installed that might be causing it. i wish someone here knew what it is that is causing this. BTW i am using a launch phone. it was one i bought the day it launched. it even has a slightly pinkish hue compared to my friends who bought his 3 months later than me. i will ask him if he has experienced any of the random last contact calling while hooked up to head phones.
Om so I talked to my friend and he said his phone does it too. I am using headphones that did not come with the phone. Could that be why?

No it's a weird bug in the phone, sometimes when you plug in the headphones and spin the jack it does the "action button" which means music or redial or starts the MSVC
It's not exactly a software bug. It is more of a hardware problem. It may have to do with the headphone that you are using. Usually with a headset, there is button to make the phone dial or hang-up. That button is missing in a regular stereo headphone. When the headphone is plugged in, it can inadvertently be sensed by the phone as though the dial button has been pressed. There might be a way to deactivate this function in software. Maybe someone who knows how can chime in.
like you said... it's a hardware problem... I searched for a solution... because for some reason my father's phone keeps re-dialing by itself... AND HE DOESN'T USE HEADPHONES! Stupid phone...
The problem happens to me from time to time... once it kept doing it every 3 seconds, it would play music.
Hello guys!
I've been running on a little bit of a problem lately. When I plug in HTC 3in1 adapter to my topaz the device makes calls automatically just by itself. I don't know what caused this, I woke up in the morning plugged in the adapter and I spot the problem, when I was listening to music and my friend started talking to me.
It calls the first person on a history list.
I was using EnergyROM from 28sep so I thought it was it's fault but no, I switched to 29oct one and the thing keeps happening to me all over again.
Any thoughts on the topic? Thanks!
Assuming you hard reset after flashing the ROMs, this sounds like a hardware issue (stuck call button).
You could try installing Tarkims Topaz keyboard remappper and set the call button to a different function to see if it activates that function.

I had the same problem and it was caused by the adapter. Replacing the adapter fixed it for me.
