Hi,
I installed the 6.5 rom on my Hermes/TYTN but have some input issues.
When entering text something very annoying happens.
After typing the first or second character of a word the cursor always jumps back one or two places, as result the rest of the word is put in front of the first character(s).
For example, if I want type "handheld", I get this result "ndheldHa".
As you understand this is very annoying and I have to pay attention every time.
This occurs in almost every application (Agenda, Tasks, Excel, ...) but it never happens with the first word, only on the next ones.
The only application which is not affected is SMS (fortunately).
I already tried changing the input, keyboard and dictionary options but did not find a solution.
Does anyone has a clue how to resolve this ?
Couldn't find any trace on Google or the forum either ...
Thanks in advance
i got the same problem here

Hello everybody, I found a big problem here when I am going to register some softwares. Everytime I input the button 'Q' on device keyboard, it showed 'O' instead of 'Q'. So that, I could not register the softwares. Although I used different kinds of keyboard software to input, it showed 'O'. However, it just occured on registration only. Word and Excel or others are normal. Any idea is appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Hi ione!
If the q buton works in word - type it, select it, press control+c, then in the registration window press control+v. This will copy and paste the "Q" character.
Thanks for your idea.
I had done it before, it got no change. Anyway, thankyou for your kindly reply.
You ought to contact the person who write the software.
It sounds illogical. First of all, the Q and O aren't really related in terms of keyboard layout or any regional settings and stuff. It is VERY (almost impossible) the OS will make any mistake in banging Q with O. Further, if you have tried the copy-paste method, it further make sense that the software you are tryign to register is faulty. The copy-paste method will do exactly what is said, changing nothing throughout the process. If there is anything that can go wrong, I would bet it is the program you are trying to register.
Anyway, my best guess is that the software (you trying to register) is displaying the Q at a different way that it looks like an O, but in fact, that is really a Q. The problem is that, the registration code may be faulty (on other ways NOT because the Q looks like O).
Thanks hanmin.
The problem is ocurred in the similar registration page. I had two softwares with the same page. Which is not ocurred to the other. Any idea, thanks?
As I said, software problem? the software which cause the prom is causing the problem. check with the author, maybe get another reg code what doesn't need a Q
Thanks hanmin again.
I had successfully installed the softwares before and the button 'Q' was no problem. After I had refreshed the rom again (since I had to completely uninstalled some softwares), the problem occurred. That's why it drived me crasy.
hi, I am curious to learn whether anybody else has the problem wit WM 5.0 that disabling the keyboard setting "capitalize first letter of sentences" is not working. I tried this already on the Hermes and now on the TyTN. It stays without result. If I type with the keyboard, the automatic correction to capitalized letters keep working even though I uncecked the letter box in the settings.
any help available for this?
It's time to get this post back in the light...
Got this issue also under WM6 and it's quite annoying!
Anyone seen a solution on this matter now?
Hello everybody,
i am new here and just got a touch hd , i can not get one thing running. Before this one i got a tyntII this one remembered words i used before while typing a sms, de touch hd does not do it. I got automatic wordfilling on. and downloaded a dictionary cab, but won't work . Do i do something wrong or does it not work on touch hd . I have a dutch version ..

You have to turn on T9, after that it should remember and suggest the words you try to type.
I agree with nhoj71
The TyTN II implementation was much better.
In additon to the autocomplete function of the HD does it was able to remember words and short phrases that one had written before.
For example if one wrote "hello world" a couple of times the next time one started to type "hello" it would also offer "hello world" as a suggestion.
Is there any way of implementing this on the HD ?
When i type an url opera would suggesties previously typed urls, but entire phrases is not possible due to the space key, which ends a word entry.

It might solve the issue you have by giving you back the old word completion mechanism.
All phones I've had over the past god knows how many years have all had the ability to automatically save any new words that I might type, but my HD2 does not seem to do so.
What I mean by this is that if I type a word that is not in the phone's dictionary/predictive text, if I manually typed in the word without the predictive text it would remember it for next time, and each time after that. Or in the case of the iphone it would remember it and be able to use it in the auto correct feature. However, the HD2 doesn't. Can you set it so that it does? I've seen in the hints and tips section that you can manually add to the words recognised by predictive text, but not found anything that suggests how it can 'autosave' words.
Any ideas? I'd be amazed if a phone like this hasn't got this feature, as like I said you've been able to do it on other phones for years.
Cheers

It learns gradually from your typing and language style. There is no way to force a word into the dictionary (through the UI), but if you've typed it a few times, and selected it from the suggestions, it just starts to show up. I think it's just a list of suggestions sorted in the order of most commonly used.
It does for me.
You write the full word and it appears as a marked word(as seen in pic nr one). When it does just press it ones and the next time you begin writing it it should suggest it(pic two).

Hmm, mine doesn't seem to do that. When you write the word for the first time do you have it in XT9 or ABC mode?
Also I've just noticed your name. Are you named after the town or the furniture?
I believe that the suggestions are add automatically... To see and add directly..
Navigate to the windows directory and look for
"eT9MyWords.exe"
That will launch the application with the words in.
Hi Guys,
Up until only recently… I had been using Swype as my SIP on my HD2. It wasn’t perfect, but it was tolerable. What wasn’t tolerable was the issues I had using the WM SMS client, instead of the HTC SMS Client. So after so many issues with the WM client, I switched back to the defauly HTC client. This makes Swype even less useable, as in the HTC SMS client… you cannot double-tap words to select them, and when using Swype, the best way to correct typos is the double-tap method.
So, I tried out ShapeWriter and SlideIT, bother were ok… I seemed to have more success with ShapeWriter on day, and SlideIT the next. But in the end… I got tired of the un-reliability of both and went on a SIP search.
This search led me to Resco Keyboard Pro… which I must say, had been quite brilliant. Big buttons, fast typing response, nice interface, good feature set, etc.
After usind Resco quite happily for a few weeks… I began to notice a silly reoccurring problem, that built to be quite frustrating. It seems that something is forcing the keyboard to input letters… that I may no want there.
- When i type words beginning with 'im' Resco Keyboard automatically adds 'ho' as the next two letters. For example: if i type impossible... i get imhopossible. imagine gives me imhoagine. etc.
- Another problem word is “month”. I can type the “m”, “o”, “n”, and “t” all fine… but as soon as I hit “h”… recso wants to enter “mosth” as the primary word choice. “Month” isn’t even a selectable second option. The only way for me to type “month”, is to intentionally mis-spell it, and have the auto-spell-correction fix it for me. I have to type “mobth” or “momth”or “minth” to get the SIP to enter “month”
Just as I am typing this post… I have realized that the problem isn’t localized to Resco Keyboard Pro. FingerKeyboard2 also has the same issues… which suggests the issue is with my phone, rather than the SIPs.
HTCs defauls SIPs have no issue getting the words correct… but they are soooo sluggish.
Can anyone help with this weird problem?
well... after a couple of hard resets, and a couple of ROM flashes to a few different ROMs, the problem remains. i think the cause might be the version of Resco Keyboard Pro that im using (v6.00)... once i install that, the problem begins, then even after uninstalling RKP, i still get the issue on FingerKeyboard (but not on the HTC SIP).
i guess ill just have to wait for an update for Resco Keyboard.
cheers.
