[HELP REQ] Processor stuck at 662.4mhz after root/flash - Nexus One General

I have a rooted nexus running modaco rom and Bacon with amon_RA recovery image and my processor is stuck at 662.4mhz(weird I kno) I can not get it back up to speed. Any suggestions???

I've changed the title of your thread. The original title of "HEEELLLPP!!!!" probably won't get you a lot of help.

How are you determining the speed? The boboMIPS reading for the snapdragon isn't a direct correlation and that throws a lot of the cpu monitioring apps out. Have a look at this thread (mainly the bottom of page 1 onwards):

Did u mean Bogo Mips?

It's one word... bogomips - a bogus speed measurement. It's not measuring mips, mhz or anything normal, just the time around a loop in the linux kernel. Every processor gives different results.

Ok, so what is the default CPU settings for that ROM, then?
Well, the thread is for a particular rom, so, everyone should have same default for the rom, check google if your that curious

Well, I guess if people are willing to download a new rom, they would like to look into all their options, not only one. For that matter, this thread (found on page 3) is much more helpful:

What's the point of having 20 people posting their results with the same rom on the same hardware? Are you going for a statistics? And your argument about people having to scroll around is completely pointless, because your thread won't stay on page 1 forever, you know? So people *will* have to scroll again to see it...

I don't notice more heat than usual. I only notice heat when charging and it's from the battery. Battery life is better than with stock settings. I use SetCPU, no profiles, ondemand governor and ben39_nobfs_noCC_no-whining kernel.

is yours stable at 748 if you run the setcpu stress tester for a minute or two?
if so then that's cool - I might have to try that speed too. I know mine locks up instantly at 780mHz more or less, but solid as a rock at 730. I have a feeling I tried 748 and it slowed to a crawl in the stress test and became really unresponsive yet not fully locking up... which to me makes that speed much worse than keeping it a little slower with 100% stability.
EDIT: stress testing 748 right now and it's still working ok... so maybe I stress tested a higher speed instead? running at basically 750mHz is freakin amazing for our little heroes if we can keep them running like that for the next couple of years
update: stress tested my phone at 748mHz results: lasted for 112725 ms before I exited the test with no errors! This little hero is so amazing!
EDIT: whoops - just reset itself LoL.... damn, I hope it boots up ok since I got cocky and set it to boot with the 748 top speed.... damn...
But I'll try it again - you've got me curious now
I have not stress tested the device but it runs stable for a couple of days now. No reboots and no lockups. The devices are somehow different some cannot run at 748 others can. Mine is even stable at 768Mhz but I i suffer less battery life with that setting, so I leave it 748 and everything is ok.
Dexa can you link me that kernel? I'm running ben39_nobfs_no-whining kernel clocked at 738mhz stable with stress testing and I'm curious about the noCC part that you're running. Thanks!
Ah never mind I found it; there was an updated version.

Sadly on stock when I first got the phone I would get over 4000 but now with GB and a 1.1 overclock I only get up to 3600. Is it really that far off on performance because it isn't a final build or is the final build going to be like this?
How is it you were getting 4000 or 4700 on quadrant standard?

Neither do 1/4 mile or 0 to 60 times, but they are fun to throw around.
I got a 3600 "in-use" benchmark, with max and min set to 1.1. With max at 1.1 and min still at .2, I still got 3200, which is not bad.

Unlock more cpu freq ?

I updated the kernel to run 1520mhz on P5110 wifi.
Its running smooth at that with 1.400v
Can more be unlocked ?
Im willing to try find max.

That's already beyond the Max. You can't oc it anymore than what you have. I'm surprised it doesn't lock up and freeze at anything higher than 1.42.

So that is absolute max ?
There is no way in heaven to unlock more, its impossible and no use to ask any more questions at all about it ?
Totally absolute no chance that anyone can do it then...
I was a good overclocker before, soldering voltmods with magnifying glass on gfx and mb and doing GDDR timings optimizations step by step with bios flash for every change.
There was always more even when everyone said you cant do any more.
But as you say i have reached max (even beyond max)
Thank you.
(And no im not trying to be a smartass, i just heard "NO" way to many times to listen...the difference btw 1.0ghz to 1.5ghz is ENORMOUS so i just wanted more)

I'm actually surprised the OMAP hasn't shut itself down with all the clock and voltage protection stuff it has.
Here's the slick sheet for the OMAP 44xx that we run in the tablet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/swpt034b/swpt034b.pdf
I couldn't find the actual technical manual for it, but I didn't search hard enough.
Buy a faster tablet.
So its made for 1ghz and above, according to pdf.
So we will see tablets with same hardware running 1.5 and depending on cooling and so on.
it aslo seems to handle alot more then its offering, like 20mp cam and so.
And scott if i wanted the fastest then i would pay alot more, so i rather overclock.
you overclock also so i dont understand your comments at all.
I overclock but..
I'm not asking for more like you.
so i cant ask anything here ?
then this forum sure is not for me!
i will find a more helpful place then, see you.
4430
do we have a 4430 dual core in the tab 2 7" or a 4460 it would be nice if it is the 4460
the OMAP4430 operates at up to 1 GHz, while
the OMAP4460 operates at up to 1+ GHz

Overclocking snapdragon 800.

So I was wondering about the truth behind the risks of frying your cpu through overclocking or the chip itself degrading faster over time, and if there are such risks do they apply to a simple 2.5 ghz overclocking ?
There isn't any risk like that, unless you are using extremely high voltage, or are at terribly hot place.
I have tested all the overclockable kernels, and haven't found a single one which is steady at 2.6 or 2.8 GHz. Only Faux's kernel at 2490 MHz is stable.
Don't be scared, there's no risk.
PS: I personally use Performance governor by the way, so the CPU is always at max frequency, against all advice I keep using that for past three years, never had a problem, and you can understand where I live the temperature reaches extremely high in summer, so...

If you want higher you should try out Ultimate Kernel. Although it is removed from XDA, you can still find it on some foreign language site. It's the highest and most stable OC kernel I have used (3.0GHz).

I don't know if this is allowed but here it is.

Last one I used was v63. So do test it out more because I cannot vouch for the updates. But based from experience, I have never gotten an unstable update from that kernel.

Thanks a lot for the link mate. Downloaded and flashed v73, but I can't get it past the stock clock rate of 2265 MHz! I think it comes with 2 apps for customization. You apply frequency on the first one and open the other and select apply changes. I'm not sure if it was this kernel or was it AEL. Lol. Anyways good luck. Maybe your ROM doesn't support a certain "stuff". I'm sorry but I really forgot about those terminologies. You can read up on the closed thread if you want. I'm sure you'll have a clue or on that link I gave you. *Google Translate ftw*

It's like school or college, you need to study to understand

Sounds like a stage I'm currently going through, are there any recommended resources for learning?
The main direction is to reverse the kernel code for the purpose of changing system settings
