The device screen doesn't react on pressings after running for some time, mostly running some more demanding application, in my case as seen in the video clip, a 3d game. The center-left part of the screen just won't answer to my touches, to get it more clear I've made a clip.
P.S.
The phone was bought in Romania (Eastern Europe), had been in service one time, seems all they've done is to resoft the phone.
Are you having a leather case or something that wraps over the side and front of the Leo? I can't see clearly but it seems so.

nope, I don't -the stock leather pouch is between the table and device
Have you tried hard resetting the phone? backup all your data and hard reset.

I did that (even in my video if you watch it); Updated to the latest firmware available on htc, same stuff.
P.S.
this issue appears mostly when I press the reject (power) button, so it's smth. with lower right corner...
I don't see why there's a discussion or even a post about this. The phone is obviously faulty. You say yourself that it's not a software issue so you need to take it up with your supplier. If they've already had it once and sent it back in the same state then you need to tell them that, not us!
They got to replace it. It's unusable in that state and no amount of software or tweaking will make the screen suddenly work for you.
i think the easies way is to send it for repair,
if i were you, i would do my best to identify the problem cause and be able to reproduce it whenever i want so i can go there to HTC and prove it.

Thank you for your reply, too bad the servicemen don't share this opinion, and the thing is more complicated due to the fact that I live in other country and have to ask some ppl to get the device delivered, and due to the random nature of the problem, it is really complicated;
the meaning of this thread was to identify, maybe someone has met such things, and knows what exactly causes the fault, so I don't receive the device the second time with "resoft" written on the service ticket...

that's exactly what I'm trying here - to identify the problem and get some proof, I can't go there by myself, we don't have an official HTC service - the nearest one is in Romania

When it's cold it usually works.
but after a while it just works less and less until finally it's not working @ all.
I've returned it twice now. They just send it back after having supposedly replaced the screen. But i have my doubts.
Now I'm going to have to return it for a 3rd time. I have more than one of these phones and I do love them. This one however is just crap.
Apparently vodafone hasn't got a clue. Maybe I can give them some instructions on what to do with the damn thing. What would you tell them in my place?
I've had the thing for a few months now but it hasn't worked properly @ all during this period.
I even created a lovely video to show vodafone my problem

First welcome to XDA-Dev
You don't know it b ut the problem has been reported here umpteen times. If you use the Search Google Sticky post near the top of the messages postings you will usually find what you are looking for.
There are recent threads on this probably not more than one page back!
Regarding the servicing. Actually I can believe they have replaced the screen. BUT we here probably know more than they on some matters. We know that this problem is not caused by a faulty screen - it is not the more traditional Screen Alignment problem (though it is related to it). We also know that to test this after any servicing is done, you need to leave the device on using power hungry apps to warm the device up.
I always recommend anyone with a warranty to insist on a Replacement and NOT a repair for this problem. There is an interesting recent thread taht suggest slackening casing screws and even internal screws can alleviate the pressure causing the problem. BUT if you have a warranty get another device - new screens are NOT the answer.
Here as a welcome is a saved version of my search. Please use an existing thread if you wish to post on this matter.

Mmmm. Tricky perhaps. A hard reset will either cure or leave you stuck. If you hard reset and the screen is indeed dead (touch wise) then you'll never get past the alignment stage. If the touch issue is software related then you would be sorted with the hard reset.
A gamble I think!!
However you are stuck at the moment so in a sense you have nothing to lose. If it ends up being useless then you are faced with a warranty (hopefully) repair otherwise some DIY though it's not entirely obvious what has broken/come loose - possibly just a ribbon connector.

Maybe the ribbon cable came loose on the LCD side?

Yeah i think its that as well, i hard reseted it a few times with no effect, in the begining of the day, it could still reconise the screen taps around 2/3 times before it totally went dead.
Are there any tutorials on how to open it up to check the ribbon?
Thanks.
This maybe the hardware problem with the mainboard itself. I read about this on here a few times, most people had the get their phones exchange....

Yes, I am equally unsure that this is just a simple loose connector. It may be, but it appears to be fine for a short while and only then goes off.
Like you myztikal47, I suggest going for warranty replacement if at all possible. Only if you have no warranty shuld you attempt a repair yourself - this is a notoriously ellusive fix and indeed I would say there is no 100% works for all answer. Certainly do not assume it's the screen - most probably it isn't and you'll waste your money.
There are dismantling links in this forum - but you'll find them on my small Hermes site http://michael-channon.spaces.live.com- go to the loose keyboard section and you'll see the links.

my 8525 had the same exact problem, and i swapped the LCD and still doess the same thing...
I dont know what the problem could be, and i dont have a warranty.
What could be going on????

Hi Guys!
My TyTn is acting strangely. In use, the display is first pixelating, getting lines (noise pixels as well), and then fading to completely white. When so it doesn't responde to anything anymore. So a soft reset is needed.....
Also the ringtone when called, is 'out of tune', like a old record player when you push your finger on the record.. LOL
Before I send it back to have it fixed by HTC, do you guys have any idea whats wrong, and maybe even a tip to help me fix this myself?
Tried numerous soft resets, hard reset, and a reinstall of the original WM6 rom (in Dutch).
Did not install any new programs lately, or did change anything on the unit...
Don't want to miss my TyTn... so hate to send it away... as many of you I am hooked badly to my beloved digital companion
Greetzz Antal
It acts like hardware incompatible.
How about flashing with WM6 English version.
I don't think it is software problem.
I agree, not likely to be software. It did not get dropped or take a knock did it?
The two issues of pixelation/white screen may, if you are lucky, just be a connector thats loose. The sound I think is unrelated but again sounds like a poor connection at the white rear speaker connector block - not uncommon.
Both of the above could be caused by a sharp knock. There have also been cases of poor battery connections causing problems.
If you have a warranty use it. If not you can follow the dismantling guides or service manual to dismantle - check connections and re-assemble. Be prepared though, that sending it in might still be required!!
Mike
Will send it in
Hi Guys, Thanks fr your replies.
I will take the unit back to the store today.
I am not aware that I bumped it, or neither it has dropped. May be a connection that was allready quite loose to begin with. Lets see what HTC and the store will tell me
Strange thing is, that without my sim in it, and not using it, it stays normal... Have put it aside, and used a very old phone instead, and it is still normal..

Mmmm... that's important information and changes things a bit. Could be a sim card contact or something about the sim. Anyway it tends to suggest that other thoughts about hardware issues may not be correct!
Hope you find the answer at the store.

Hey i don't know what happened to my Wizard but suddenly after installing two Alarm Clock softwares i just started losing my Screen Alignment. To fix it i even tried re flashing my Wizard but this time the problem started early and without installing those programs. Did anyone of you have the same problem?? If you do have a patch do post it in reply. Cause after using the ROM I'm using now all the other ROMs seem to be too Slow.
NOTE: Information about my Wizard is updated and in my signature.
Thanks in Advance.
HI,
Have you ckecked the connection between the screen and the print? Maybe it has a bed contact?
If you still have warranty, the you better send your phone back to let it repair
good luck

Hey im sure that there are no problem with the HARDWARE cause if there were problems with the hardware then it should not even work after i align screen and secondly if you know any ROM faster than mine (mentioned in my sign) cause when i switch to nayother ROM they seem to be too slow.

Well there's your problem right there. Anyone that sure of anything can't be right about it.
Seriously though. This sounds like an intermittent fault, and that is the domain of hardware failures. This kind of thing happens when hardware ages. Especially around things with moving parts. That slide-out keyboard wreaks havoc on the ribbon over time, and eventually, they just give out. You may have one that's merely loose, or it may be getting ready to break, or it may already be broken and just touching often enough to make you think it's okay.
The chances of this being firmware or driver-related are really slim. If that was the case, the error would be constant, not intermittent.

Sorry! but i dont guess i said that anywhere by reflashing i meant reflashing the same ROM. If the problem still presists then it might be a HARDWARE fault but for now its working pretty fine.
Forgot one thing, if this is an HARDWARE issue then is it fixable?? if yes how?
hey man i had this annoying issue whenever i remove the battery..but it should be OK when u do alignment a couple of time repeatedly...try it and post the results here..
I have had alignment problems for a long time. Clearly mine is hardware related, since stock and custom ROMs both show the same problem. Sometimes I'll go for months with no problem, and then I'll have to start realigning several times a day. Thank god for smartskey, otherwise I could rarely close a program. I was told that it was probably a hardware problem and that it would've been covered under warranty (if I was still under warranty), but I never sent it off. Somebody else told me once that It was probably due to there being pressure put on the edges of the screen from the frame around the screen, and if I disassembled it, made sure the seal/padding wasn't touching the touch-sensitive part and then reassembled it, I should be fine. But I looked up the process in the service manual, and WOW it looked like a lot of work with a lot of places where I could screw up the phone, so I just live with it. Sometimes sliding it open and closed would totally mess it up. It seems to help if I just squeeze the edges of the screen to really "seat" it, and then align. Then it seems to stay pretty well aligned for a good while. Good luck!
I cooked up a ROM and installed it and it works now i dont have the problem. Please try my ROM and give me feedback link to it exists in my signature. Thanks. TC
2 weeks ago, my HD suffered a problem where it would randomly reboot. Eventually it would not power up at all. I have just received my phone back from HTC repair centre, and after 2 hours of use..... guess what ...... same problem is happening again. According to the repair sheet, the main board was replaced - but obviously not the cause of the fault. I've been without the phone for over a week now and i rely on it for work.
I was contsantly tracking the progress on line, and the repair took less than an hour, with probably 2 hours of testing.....
Anyone else had similar issues? Should i push for a new phone rather than repair, as it seems they can't even get this right.......

i dont buy that. it would be cheaper to just give you a new one. they probably noticed a faulty connection and tried to fix it.
when this sort of thing hapens, you should allways try to get a new one.
write an e-mail complaining to the htc headquarters, maybe someone will hear you.

Consider keeping a backup phone for these issues: when I bought the Touch Pro I kept my Tilt, and damned glad I did.
After changing motherboard, it should be a new machine internally.
The same symptom should not occur unless it is software problem.
Did you try using it without installing extra programmes?
Did you install any special program afterwards??
If yes, you should do a trial run after each installation.
am thinking along this line too... is it a bad program?
The only app that was installed was lumos to control the backlight, however no one else has reported isues with this killing the device.
To me it sounds like the power module is at fault, causing stress on the main board. They fixed what was damaged but not the cause. Surely the device should have been power soaked before returning.
lumos is ok on mine..

The phone came back with a new IMEA number, so they did replace the main board.
pretty tricky problem imo .. fancy not fixed even with change of mainboard
Well after contacting HTC again, they want me to send the phone back - this time with the battery. Can't really see how the battery can kill the device, unless it is trying too pull to much current during charging? Surely there must be a protection circuit to gaurd against this..........
Does anyone have an email address for HTC - other than the "automated response" ones which reply with useless comments?
