Hi guys,
Seems like something goes wrong with my Ipaq 614c. First the orange led /indicating charging/ was blinking some times. Blinks were no equals by time. It was like when the battery is at high percentage 80-90% charged. I ordered a new battery , 'couse this one is already weak , and i thought this is battery related /still waiting to get that new battery/ .
Today I have a new issue , that concerns me . Even battery is at 30% - nothing happens when i plug the wall charger . If i connect to a usb -> activesync works , but the orange light doesn't come in ! It stays slowly blinking green .
The most concerning is that if i remove the battery and plug into wall charger -> i have no led action at all - nothing happens. I remember that if i did this before , the leds start flashing fast.
Can anyone help with that ?
I'm thinking of damaged usb port or something. After battery was left couple of hours outside the device -> it started chargind. At high percentage orange started strange blinks againg , green light came out , but after removing the charger , it was not 100% charged (around 93%) . It was a little orangle , a little green ... funny .
If i move the usb plug around when blinking orange , gets to normal /not blinking/ ... so i suspect the connection is faulty.
Hands free also does some strange action /i hear , put seems like mic don't work sometimes/ ... what makes me think again for the usb port .... hmm.
I had that ones aswell, also the 93% charging when used slow charging.
I jsut left the device charging 24 hours, evreything was fine afterwards
If I get to charge somehow , the orange light turns on .... but after a while, the display turs on and orange light start flashing. If i poke the connector ... it gets ok , again ... for the next couple of minuties Sometimes normal state lasts longer , sometimes not ...
So charging 24 hours looks impossible
orange light blinks rapidly erractically
hi, rust
i have a 612c whic has exactly the same problem as urs. the orange light blinks rapidly when i plugin the wall charger. the phone screen comes alive but does get charged. iam at wits end. please let me know what did u do. any help is very much appreciated.
As I told you via PM , it's a usb connector failure. Some pins brake connection over time .
It's too tiny to resolder or replace , even solder iron with hairpin tip is very risky to brake it for good
hi.. i had same problem some time ago.. as i havent time for send it to service I bought another winmo device and decided to dismantle mine to see if i could make something.. as i saw, with my tools i can't do much.. but i am buying a new usb port from repairhppda and send it ready to be soldiered..
here is how it looks with a goooood zoom..

This looks like a good work . Anyone should know that first picture is a hell of a zoom !
?
Can the micro usb connector be replaced with any connector or just with an original from repairhppda ?
thanks niko

ok, on my xda mini s, if i plug the charger in at 2% to 99% it charges fine
but, i let the battery go so dead that it wont charge. so i bought another one and it did the same
is there a software fix for this? can i charge the batteries another way? both are only 6 weeks old and charge fine in my mates mini s (one of the first ones) mine is only 6 weeks old
its now getting very annoying
thanks
What are you running? G3 or G4, IPL/SPL, ROM version??
hi mate
ipl 2.21.001
spl 2.21.001
gsm 0.2.07.10
os 2.21.4.1
so just to clarify, I think there needs to be a tiny amount of power the the device to power it enough to recognise the charger is plugged in
i have 2 batteries with 0% energy - none will charge. The 3rd battery charges fine if more then 1% is left before I stick the charger in
thanks
Actually my boss had the same problem with his 8125. He was running wi-fi & music and it killed the battery all the way dead. I don't think there's a fix. He had to buy a new battery.

Looks like mfrazzz has the answer!
wow, ok i am a nuby and you might not like the solution but, every time my battery runs out completely and i cant charge it, disconnect the charger trust me on this one, lick the top of the charger connect it back and at first it will show a red light leave it there for about 4 minutes, then disconnect it and connect it back and your battery will start chargin again. trust me on this one ive done it like 4 times.

Dude!! I just have to ask...
HOW DID YOU FIGURE THAT OUT??? I mean, where you just sitting around thinking... Hmmm... I think I'll lick the top and stick it in.. hummm... I guess I'll leave it in for about 2 min... no... 3 min... oooo I think 4 min would be perfect.. then I'll unplug it and ummm... plug it back in!! Oh yeah!! That will do it!!!
Just kidding around!!!
wow, amazing stuff thanks
can i get an external charger/docker for the batteries?
do ALL these devices have the same problem or just the newer ones? my old one didnt do it (unless it still had some power in it)
Thanks
There is both a battery charger that you stick your battery in and a cradle that charges both your Wizard and also has a slot for a second battery. I couldn't find the single battery charger, but the dock can be found by searching for 8125 twin cradle.

Ok, on my 8125 with the battery oriented exactly how it sits in the phone, the + is the top most contact and the - is the bottom most contact.
Here's a pic of a battery I found and you can just make out the + (red) / - (black) on the pic.

ohh and that licking thing....it works with AA batteries, 'cept you put them under your armpits for a few minutes
Hi,
I forgot my prophet @ home, turned on, and i travelled for one month. When i returned, is completly dead.
Any sugestions?
Thanks
Plug it in to the wall, ignore the lack of red light, leave for at least 24 hours. Pray.
or borrow another battery from somewhere, try with that.

Well... If nothing else help, take out battery from prophet,
find what is + and what is -, use some DC voltage 8-12V
DIRECTLY + from DC supply to + battery, - to -. Keep like this for
15-20 seconds then put battery back to prophet.
Then connect to charger.
This is not so good to do with battery often but up to now
similar things like yours happened to me few times with other stuff:
lap tops, mobile phones, GPS and so on. Nothing else helped except
"shock" to the battery. Even this type of battery will survive without any damage.
Just to remind you (and others): DO NOT DO THIS OFTEN and
NOT LONGER THAN 30 seconds.
yes ... this work ... but please ... do not use more then 5V for less secounds!
12v is to high for a 3,7 cell :-> they are built for only 4,1v maximum voltage!
note! this issue can bring your lipo to explode/blast! the best way to bring a undervoltages lipo to work, is to use a lipo charger. only with a powersupply without amper limiter is a very dangerous way! it can damage your fingers if you hold it!
i have blast some cells for 1 year ago and they work very well for newyear!
Do u guys think It will work here

Well... At least you could try, there is nothing to lose.
About voltage: yes battery is 3.7V and yes it is not recommended to connect anything directly. But... This "trick" helped me so many times. And for short time, beleive me, you could connect up to 12V. But be carefully. If you experience any abnormal heat of the battery just stop. But, again, nothing bad will happened for 15, 20 seconds. And just to remind you: CONNECT TO THE BATTERY WHEN BATTERY IS OUT OF PROPHET. DO NOT CONNECT ANYTHING TO THE PROPHET OR BATTERY CONNTACTS ON THE PROPHET.

Hey THX bro,
Now how will i figure out which is the +ve in the batt and -ve in the batt..
So I understand positive of an source of 3.7v goes to +ve of the battery and negative of the source goes to -ve RIGHT
Also yesterday I noted another thing .
Even If I remove the batt and connect the wall charger the NEO still shows a red light.
Do u think this is normal..(can u try this like just remove the batt and put the to NEO to wall charger)
even after installing the batt the NEO just shows red light and it does not get heated at all.
THANK YOU. it just worked with me, for the past week my phone was dead and i lost my charger, i just did it your way with...
5V, 6W adapter, it worked (1st time i did it for 15 secs, didnt work, 2nd time for 25 secs )
thnx again
Can anyone tells me where is the +ve & -ve on the battery, There are 6 pads on the battery

well you just have to use an electrical "tester" if you dont know how to you can bring your battery to an electrician and let him figure out what is + and - for you ( be sure to mark it out )

hi,
i drained my battery completly, and now when i want to charge it nothing hapened. it is not charging, no green light on device..... and i can`t turn it on becouse no juice in battery.... help needed how to charge the batery away from device or something.....
thanx in advance
Well,Jump start the battery,or charge it with Wall charger capable of 1amp out put,it'll start to charge.
To jumpstart the battery use a 9v battery and give the battery a few 30 second charges which should give it enough juice for the phone to boot and get it charging from the usb cable or wall charger thats less than 1amp.
It may take a few attempts to get enough charge.
Also cutting and end of a spare usb cable and using that to jumpstart the battery is possible too.
it would be more nice that if u could show it with picture illustration guide (if possible)
by the way. Is this the 9v battery u were refering too:-

hey dhawal4u stop spaming ) ..... and don't do 30 seconds shocks...try firstly with 15 seconds...or use a wall charger like zabardast said..it's safer
I guess charging it using a USB cable may also work because when my battery all once drained i used a USB cable to charge it and it worked but for sometime in the starting dont do anything after sometime its orange light will automatically be on or you can use the Wall charger as other are saying and once problem is solved do tell in the THREAD so that people dont post replied saving sites bandwidth.
usb cable jump worked for me. happened to have one usb cable without another head so tried it, few less than 10sec spikes and then connected to computer and boom it started charging
thanks.

Hi,
Could you tell me how to do this? Which are the + and - contacts of the wizard's cell?
Thanks.
hello all XDA Masters =)
- I have a Q. searched and maybe i do something wrong .... hope someone can help ....
- My micro usb riped off the pcb card ... with all the peds...
- i tried to solder it back ... tried it one twice thired time ... NOTHING! :crying:
- well im wondering if there is another way of charching my phone ?
- I LOVE MY HD2 ... Please help him to feel better!
take any type usb lead, cut end off, bare red and black wires, hold red to + and black to - on teh phone (look carefully, theyre marked) plug into wall charger for a while - battery has charge. not good to leave it like that for too long, though, so you probably want to look into an external charger.
ill try it ... =)
are there any wireless external chargers ?
i think there are some yea, have a root around in the accessories section, and ebay.
keep an eye on the battery, if it gets warm AT ALL you probably wanna stop charging for a bit.
I DID IT! =)))))))
ITS ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:silly::laugh:
IM SO HAPPY =)
little dirty job ... but it was free =)))
finally im happy to be electronic engeneer =)))))))))) :cyclops:
Thank u samsamuel you gave me the power not to give up =)
These are good for the price>
http://www.ebay.com/itm/290541610397
charges battery nicely over night with good & simple LED status ... USB is also fast charge wired for those that need it ...
Got one myself & had it for some time so tested well ...
i have soldered some thing ... did what i had to do
- ill send pic's of what i done ( today ).
its not that beautiful .... but hey ... it works just fine :good::victory:
thats what i have done :
i took some slot conn. 8 pic , cut it to 3 pic =)
and another to the supply ...
that is the result ...
(!) the battery charging ... not heat from the baterry.

nice hack, and it keeps the charge control circuits working too, so no danger of frying the battery.
In case it does give you problems again in the future I would take a look at this. Its a external charger that has already been suggested. I have the same one and it has worked great for me. I ended up
buying this one that came with two extra batteries so when I leave my house there is always a battery charging and ready for me when I get home. Plus you cant beat the price of under 9 (usd) bucks.
maybe i will .... for now its working fine =)
Could you please give more information on exactly did you do? I have the same problem (USB not working) and I was wondering how can I use the back charging terminal. Thank you!
Sorry if this is in the wrong place,
XDA has helped me out many times in the past, I've searched but found no concrete answers with this though:
I'm a truck driver and often charge my N4 on the go, probably doesn't help the battery, which for the last few months has begun to discharge in around 6 hours. I nearly bought a new battery but put it off then the phone died.
I plugged it into a in car (truck) charger on the 12v socket whilst at 5% and the charger started smoking. Pulled it out and found the phone was off and unresponsive (no surprise) with no red LEDs or otherwise.
Each time I did the following i also tried the volume down and power key or volume up and power key combinations with and without the charging cable plugged in and whilst holding down the buttons as well:
I plugged it in at home from a mains charger, nothing, overnight, nothing.
Also tried from the computer USB port, still nothing.
Bought a new battery, no change.
Bought a wireless charger in case the USB port fried: seemed to get warm but that could be the charger induction coils. Still no power on.
"Charged" the new battery externally with a spliced USB cable, nothing
"Charged" the new battery externally with a power supply at 0.5 ah and battery voltage went from 3.45 to 3.70 still no power on.
Repeated the above at 2.0 ah and put the battery voltage up to a maximum 4.5v for 10 mins - this time the backlight came on and would stay on until long press of the power button.
Then the phone got REALLY hot. I mean to the point of "something feels like its about to thermal runaway" hot. Pulled the battery and eventually it cooled down. If I plug the battery in now it gets hot on the WiFi/Bluetooth module first then spreads out over the board. As the power management chip is on the other side of the board to the WiFi module my question is: has this phone gone to hell? Is the chip overheating because its now fried or because its not getting the right power? Am I completely stupid and should get a phone that I can look after (Nokia 3210 anyone?!)
I had a N4 before this that packed up on me and I think the PMIC may have been the problem as well, only ever seen one post about it though that went unanswered.
Thanks for any suggestions, not trying to waste anyone's time or space.
Peace
UPDATE:
I'm also trying to resurrect an older N4 that had RLOD but when I tried to replace the battery I prised the battery connector off the pcb...ye. Should stick to not touching anything and not moving from one place. I soldered a pair of leads on to the contacts this evening to see if I get anything from it and I got a solid red led so thought I'd hook up more jumpers to the battery and go from there, in so doing I ripped the track off the pcb...no pad left to solder too and I cant find where the track runs to patch into it anywhere else. So I took the pcb off the phone I first posted to see what's underneath, and look what I found:

And also:
Judging by how much black blood these chips have bled and the exit wound on the PMIC I think its fair to say I have two useless unrecoverable phones, no hope of data recovery via JTAG and no working phone either. Hope this helps someone looking to see why their phone gets so hot and won't turn on!
