HTC BRAVO??? - Nexus One General

is the N1 the HTC Bravo??? I heard people saying that its the google version of the Bravo and the HTC version should come out in spring. Not at all sure just wanted someone to confirm it. HTC Bravo was only phone with the snap dragon on the 2010 phone leaks so that got me questioning about the N1. Thanks in advance.

think htc named this bad boy the "HTC Passion"

nexus = htc passion = htc bravo

They changed it quite much from the concept model.

Thanks for the info guys, will htc release their own model? Since the concept picture looks way sexier than the N1

N1 is sexier than the concept I think.
Most likely HTC will release their own version of the N1 which will likely have either Sense UI or their new Espresso UI. The specs will most likely stay the same if the Hero and Magic 32A is any indication. Cosmetic features will most likely change as well, but no matter what may happen the HTC Experience version will definatly not have the same cosmetic features as the concept.
I have also read that Google is planning on making a budget version of the N1, which makes me think perhaps it will be similar to the Magic 32B /MT3G was to Magic 32A?

G1 or Hero!

I'm gonna buy a new phone about 2-3 weeks. I've got 2 choices: Google G1 and HTC Hero. Actually, I prefer G1 than. Because It's got qwerty keyboard which very useful for my work . But Only 192mb Ram as 288mb of Hero.
Hero has a 3,5mm audio jack. But If I buy G1, I can use Usb Jack to 3.5mm, not really convenient!
I like Hero's Sense UI and gonna upgrade G1 (If I buy )) to new rom with it inside. As I know, there was some problems like Force Closed, is it?
Is there any 2.1 Rom like Nexus1 on G1 yet? And is it fast?
Hero hardware and looks are perfect for future rom.
So what should I choose you guys plz help me!
I am to receive my G1 this afternoon..
Had a hero before this, and an iphone (both 1st and the 3g) before that.
As you said:
+the G1 has a keyboard and the original android
-G1 less memory
-G1 lacks headphone jack
-G1 is bigger
My reason for switching to the G1 (after selling Hero) is:
The Nexus one. After seeing a 1ghz powered 512MB ram equipped phone web browsing, and coming to the conclusion that even the 2G iphone as a smoother interface, and browser, I knew that my Hero would never be able to do what my iPhone did almost 3 years ago.
So I said, "**** it", if I'm going to be stuck with an ugly-ass phone (brown Hero) until september 2010, then I rather have a REAL ugly-ass phone (G1) instead of a wannabe phone like the Hero.
Hero imo is wannabe because:
-multitouch browser but no multitouch keyboard..
-the photo app are so wannabe, but sub 60fps
-almost everything else
I really detest the Hero interface, especially compared to the slick stock android interface.
The G1 is not afraid of what it is; a Geek phone. I love the bulkyness and the Nerd-design. More than the Hero which doesn't know if it wants to be an iPhone when it grows up..
The memory issue did not bother me that much, The android interface does not allow for real multitasking like the Palm pre anyway, although the notification drawer is a step in the right direction.
But anyway, aside from mp3, browsing and messaging at the same time, I am not going to be multitasking that much anyway.
Conclusion: for me the design, keyboard and the true Android OS instead of Sense UI were the reasons for choosing the G1.
P.S. I have used a Hero from september 2009 until last week.

Just my 2 cents, but I would get the hero, unless you REALLY need that hardware keyboard ...
As you mentioned the Hero has more ram and rom, fixing the shortfalls of the G1 hardware, also it is still unknown whether the G1 will receive an official Android 2.0 update ... whereas the Hero is only a few months old and HTC have already committed to upgrading it to 2.1.
I quite like the Sense UI but other stock Android 1.6 roms are available in the hero section of this board if that's what you want.

i would get the hero. i have the g1 and i wish i could get the hero but i cant.....i really dnt like the g1
I think you should get a 2010 android phone not 09 or 08
I was thinking of getting the HTC Leo or the TP2(WM phones).
hero! get the hero, I would trade my dinky little g1 for one any day. Official 2.1 hero vs. rooted hero for g1 = hero wins. Even the best hero roms on the g1 are just too slow. trust me, get the hero
actually, did you see that roadmap of the new htc phones for 2010, yeah get the snapdragon one! wait it out, don't adopt an old phone
I don't know maybe I'm part of the minority but I like my g1 and it's keyboard. I can text anyone on a hero, N1 and Iphone and still reply and text 5x more over them. When the next android phone with a keyboard comes out I will upgrade.
and hiddengopher if your g1 is slow and dinky it's not the rom's your flashing because my is super fast and sleeky
Maybe I'll buy a Hero, can't wait for new phone in 2010. Don't tell me about MileStone or N1 'coz I don't have that much money and Sense UI impression me after all!
I was tried the qwerty on G1 and find it's hard to type( I have HTC Kaiser before), the soft key on Hero and G1 in landscape mode still good.
If I buy a Hero, I have to wait for money support from my family in about 2 week
P/s: As I know, there are many G1 has been bricked! So I don't want to get risk of it!

HTC Desire and HTC Bravo

Inside a recent article by AndroidSpin the question was briefly answered...
AndroidSpin.Com said:
The Bravo they had was running Sense UI. There have been a lot of speculation reguarding that if it is coming to T-Mobile, will it have Sense UI? HTC told me that they have been pushing Sense UI on T-Mobile for a while. When the Mytouch 3G was first released, they planned it on having Sense UI. T-Mobile however, disagreed and wanted 1.5 put on it. Shame. I asked about the name issue with the Bravo. One day it’s the Bravo, other the Desire. They say the name will vary depending on the carrier. It will be on T-Mobile U.K. as the Desire. T-Mobile U.S. as the Bravo. They are pushing T-Mobile with putting Sense UI on it. T-Mobile already has stock Android on the G1 and Mytouch 3G. MotoBLUR on the Cliq and Samsungs Cube Android on the Behold II. With all this said, I see Sense in T-Mobile’s future.

So my best guess is that here in the US its the HTC Bravo, and we have HTC Eris (Desire). So in the UK it's the HTC Desire an well there is no UK HTC Eris (Unless you count the Hero). Hope that helps a bit

That's good. I liked our name.
It seems so strange that HTC can't have consistent naming. It creates a crapload of confusion.
Sure does and now everytime anyone mentions desire they're all gonna think about the European Nexus One and forget about the my sexy little Eris.

HTC Tattoo vs Wildfire

I've just been reading a review of the HTC Wildfire which is HTCs new budget android device... they seem to think its a lot better than the Tattoo. The specs though are very similar except it has a bit more RAM and a decent camera.
http://www.itpro.co.uk/624604/htc-wildfire-review/4
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Tattoo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Wildfire
Anyway, I thought it was an interesting comparison and shows what the Tattoo can still do especially as the chipsets are the same. I hope with a Froyo release for the Tattoo it can show its potential!

Apart from being able to pinch zoom who cares? And with a 3.2 inch screen anyway I don't think its the going to be beating an iPhone for web browsing just because it has multi touch lol. My point is that the Tattoo can be brought up to the same level with a complete 2.1/2.2 update.
Maybe that "bit more RAM" is necessary to have 2.1 and sense working fine.
But i'm not sure

yes but in my opinion it won't arrive!
instead htc assured froyo for device from genuary 2010 excluding tattoo that exited on november/december 2009 -.-
i'm not talking about hardware that is almost the same but the support won't be the same for these devices...
do not forget wildfire start with a 2.1 upgradeable to 2.2
and the cost is almost the same for both devices...
Not from HTC it won't... but the development team here are almost there anyway so hopefully a fully working ROM will be here soon without the need for HTC!
And I think you're missing my point. Im just saying that the new device is basically the same as the Tattoo. Im not saying sombody should go out now and buy a Tattoo, that would be stupid lol.
HTC Wildfire is what the Tattoo should have been.
I'm not convinced in upgrading to the Wildfire just to replace my dying Tattoo.
People, I'm quite sure that HTC won't update Wildfire to 2.2. They will just leave it behind like they left behind the Tattoo! They clearly said that they will update most of the phones released in 2010...I don't know, but I sense that the wildfire users will be as disappointed as we were when they said that 2.1 isn't going to come for our tattoos...

I couldn't say that any better. 100% agree. I think there are basicly two type of needs/users.
One is what I call the "leisure" user (that could be myself on week ends) who wants a ample web browsing, full multimedia, multiple messaging (SMS's and chat), gaming, and so on. For these users, iPhone 3g/3gs/4, Nexus One, or alike any of both is the choice.
Another one is my so called "working" user (myself monday to friday), when your needs are mostly email (mostly exchange and push), quick browsing, mapping or navigation, shopping lists, to do lists, calendars, reminders, transportation routing or schedule querying, not too ambicious web browsing, some music/sudokuing is well appreciated. For this use, Tattoo-like->Wildfire is simply perfect: does it all, with no excess luggage (weight/size).
I don't know if I should say pitty or shame on HTC for releasing a device that in a very few months will be improved to the obsolecense point. We all know that in consumer technology you will never catch up with the very best, but HTC guys, we should be happy at least for one year. Is it to ask for too much? Did they invent the "decent camera" last week so it is just now that you could include it in your phones, or couldn't you do that on the Tattoo? And cant't you upgrade to 2.1 or 2.2? You HTC want to tell us that you can't do what some cooks on XDA have already done? I am certain that these guys are very well prepared, qualified and smart, no doubt on it, but what they do is some kind of hobby on their spare time, and they are charging not a cent!
Well, my hope like many others, is on these magnificent guys cooking new ROMs for all of us (hopefully we will have a 2.1 or 2.2 fully functional), and as some other dudes already have expressed, Tattoo might well be my last HTC device.
I think tattoo is lack of screen resolution and size of the screen other than it's good if you just work around with roms and install market patched hopefully soon we will have 2.2 or 2.1 fully working custom Roms with market patched and it will be really cool
But htc should do something about tattoo they can't just leave tattoo in blank
don't think on buying a wildfire. haven't you got enough with Tattoo? save some more money and buy a nexus one or an iphone, they are truly speedy and better quality

magic getting 2.2.1

i am outraged, i just saw on phandroid that the htc magic was getting 2.2.1 (without live wallpapers, wifi hotspot or flash player) so why is our hero not getting it? its more or less the same specification, just with sense, and we have already seen 2.1 with sense, so why are hTc not giving us hero owners an official froyo update?
Our Hero won't get it because HTC don't want to spend money developing the update, it wouldn't make sense financially to them. It is more or less the same specification with the exception of the Camera and RAM.

but surely they would have chosen our heros instead of the magic seeings as its better?
Also htc would have to develop a 2.2 sense that would work on the hero, which they see as way too much work. Face it, as far as HTC is concerned, the hero is dead and has. been for some times

Nope, in their eyes the Hero has already been updated (to 2.1 from 1.5) whereas the Magic was on 1.6 I believe, so they were obliged to update it.
what are the chances of porting the magic 2.2.1 to the hero ?
the magic's hardware seems close to the hero.
same screen, same cpu same memory.
afaik it's the predecessor of the hero.
shouldn't that be a great thing for hero rom development ?
Why would you want to port it? There are tons of 2.2.1 roms available for the hero. Remember the magic isn't a sense 2.2, its a generic android 2.2, which as I say is availavailable in abundance on xda and similar sites

Yep the hardware is extremely similar. It might be useful for Hero development, I think the developer's could use the drivers to optimize perhaps, but that's about it really.

HTC Hero 4G

Looks like its finally getting a replacement:
Unconfirmed rumours obtained from Pocketnow and a DLNA certificate for the device indicate that the upcoming HTC Kingdom is likely to be sold by Sprint as the HTC Hero 4G. Apparently, there are also indications of the device appearing in the EXIF data on photo-sharing sites.
We came across the HTC Kingdom in early May when a ROM of the device was leaked by the Chinese blog 911sniper. At the time not much was known about the device save for its qHD (540x960px) screen. Later Pocketnow released some updated specs indicating that the HTC Kingdom had a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor, 768MB RAM, a 5MP camera with 720p video recording, and the device would launch with Android 2.3.3.
The rumours suggest that the HTC Kingdom will be launched by Sprint as the HTC Hero 4G, the carrier to originally launch the 528MHz, 3.2-inch HTC Hero, running one of the earliest Android builds (1.5 Cupcake). The Hero 4G has already passed FCC certification so it is likely we will be seeing the device sooner rather than later.

I just texted my dad that if I fix my hero (digitizer in it is bad) then I will keep it until this phone comes out, if I can't fix it, I'm getting his evo.
Most sources are saying single-core... I hope it's all lies. But then again I wish it could be the 1st triple core phone and be a REAL Hero! I know... I dream too big.
single core is by no means a turn-off to me. Id say given where its likely to be priced, this could be a great replacement for the hero. Sure dual core sounds all well and good, but Im buying a phone for a phone/pda and not a computer replacement.
Sweet ... love the Hero
I love my HTC Hero as well. I'm on the fence about maybe switching to the photon 4g I can get my 2 year upgrade August 1st.
I just flashed/upgraded my Hero for the second time from Froyo to Gingerbread a few weeks ago and I finally think I got all the kinks out worked out. Plus I just told Sprint I would stay with them for another 2 years.
Seeing how the HTC Kingdom would be coming to Sprint as the Hero 4G, this is tempting but I think I will stick with my Hero for a bit longer. I love this phone. When I saw the HTC Legend awhile back I thought that would be my next phone but sadly it was not on Sprint.
I just love the idea of a track ball on a phone that is one of the main reasons why I bought the Hero cause it had a track ball and I didn't want a Blackberry.
Heres hoping Sprint does release more Hero phones in the future maybe with a trackball as well...I just hope the trackball smart phone isn't dead yet and companies make more with trackballs on them.

New name change from Hero 4G to Evo Design 4G
I love the trackball, too. Especially on smallish screens like my current Hero. I think it's dead though, and I doubt we'll see it again primarily because it takes up a lot of space and requires a much bigger bezel which reduces screen size.

The Hero was a pioneer for Androids, HTC has to keep the Hero name alive! I love my Hero, wouldn't mind my next phone being the big brother/sister of my current phone.
When is this out?
