i make loads of calls in a week so the counter is looking ugly
is there anyway i can reset the counter
correct me if i am wrong but i think this is stored in the radio-rom. flash a new radio-rom and it should be reset.
i actually did
but someone mentioned i need a hacked rom
or use mtty
i dont knw i need the right way
mtty is the only way, but i don't understand why call timer an issue!
well if some one can give me a tutorial on using mtty i will be gratfull
well when you got like 30 hours recived in 10 days
and 30 min outgoing
it looks kidda ugly
i recive calls like hell
I know this isn't the best way doing it... But would hard-resetting the device, making the device seem like new, pull the trick? Will this also clean the info on the radio.rom?
no it wont
new winmobile devices dont have this trick
i tried hard reset
tried flashing a new radio
nothin
same
also at mtty how can i make it recognize my hd2
WOW... This seems weird... You basically did reset pretty much all there is to reset?... All you smart people, please answer my question: Where is the info about the Call Counter stored? If its not in the radio.rom (which you actually did reset) and it isn't in the OS... Where is it!???!??
Think of the call counters as your pda being sim unlocked.
Once you have SIM unlocked your pda/phone, no rom flashing / radio flashing / hard resetting will ever get rid of that sim unlock.
I think its a small chip (not ROM) that resides on the motherboard which contains the call counters and sim lock status. You would need to flash this chip, not the ROM (i.e. OS / radio flashes won't do anything).
well in the hermes they did it via mtty
dont knw how it can be done we really need some ones help
any help guys
I use a Rhodium and I need to reset the counter too. Any help using mtty in newer devices?
Yup me too so that I can reset each month so that I can know how much outgoing calls were made.
i had flash from orginal 1.66 to dutty 2.1 with radio. but the call counter does not reset.

hi, if that is what you want you can search the web for programms like callstat or similar. so you get great statistics on your calls, and dont need to manipulate counters that not meant to be manipulated.

you have idea of like reset the call duration?
Good question, what have you tried?
i'm also so interested
Our program 'The Manipulator' can do this, but only to certain RSU versions, and you do need a serial cable.
Manipulator will word with xda2????
any news about this?
hello
The Manipulator works only with XDA 1 only. This program works for radio stack version 4.20 and below it. I tried ver 4.21 It didn't work Due to the high security protection of the new Radio stack upgrade. It's very sad because it very hard to find the old version.
I think that XDA developers don't want to uprade their program because XDA is old and cost of money to keep upgrade program.
Another important thing that i am concern is why they don't develop the radio stack image because the most problem is the radio stack which kill the pocket pc function too.
Now, I I hope thatthey will develope on the XDA 2 not only in Rom but also in radio stack too.
Anyhow, GREAT THANKS TO XDA DEVELOPERS.COM FOR THEIR GREAT WORKS. VERY APPRECIATED!!!
i'd also like to find out how to reset call duration.
would i be correct in saying that the call duration is stored in the ram?
therefore if we drain the external and internal batteries, ram would reset itself since it wouldn't have power to preserve the information.

I think maybe it's incorrect because I've drain all my battery to reset my call duration and it didn't work. Maybe we should try another way.
1) Start the call;
2) Change system time to desired time difference in the past;
2) End the call;

and what do u do after your device is super cid ?
lol, for some reason my call duration is unspecified in my phone
see, after I upgraded my Himalaya to WM5, (I suspect that's what caused it) the incoming and outgoing call durations say 'unknown'
I'm not phased by this.. but, it's still weird.

hi sorry guys i searched the site and found a few steps on how to reset the call timers in details..but unfortunately it didnt work...im not sure with others but this procedure did not work on my htc universal...
please follow the steps and do let us know if you come up with expected results
For reseting outgoing call timer
Step 1) Make and outgoing call with your device(Doesnt matter who aslong as someone picks up the call)
Step 2)When the call is picked, emmidietly go to settings and change the Devices clock time back to as many hours as you call timers outgoing time is and save the setting.
Step 3)After saving just hang up the call and reset device.
For reseting incoming call timer
Step 1) Make or expect an incoming call at your device and pick up the call and immedietly go to the clock setting option and change the time as many hours as the incoming call timer shows and save the setting.
Step 2) Hang up the call and reset the device.

i visited some of the threads on how to reset the call timers but many of the users have achieved this on devices like xda, xda2i other than the universal...any idea why this is not made possible for universal...would appreciate your help.

Here is the link to download Mtty.
The method of making a call and going back in time may not work in recent devices because MS or HTC has probably fixed it.
Regards,
Carty..
I had sent a phone in for repair, which was then said to be unrepairable and so I was given a replacement niki (however the replacement was a refurbished one).
Its only been a week or so but I have had major problems with calls. Most of the time I cant make or receive calls even though the signal bar has two or three bars. The phone says its dialing but it doesnt and ends the call automatically. If I ring my phone it goes straight to voicemail! Note that I said "most of the time" because my phone calls do go through soemtimes but thats like once every 20 or so tries or if I make a phone call immediately after a soft reset or just get lucky!
The other functions of the phone work fine. I have done a hard reset thinking it was something I installed but the problem is still there. Done another 4 hard resets (each time trying something different like taking the battery out before the custom orange stuff is installed) but with no change.
I did a search and came across another thread but it wasnt really solved and blamed it on S2U2. Obviously S2U2 cant be the cause for me since the problem is there even after a hard reset. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-393077.html and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387615)
Im thinking it could be that the radio version is old (since it is a refurbed version) and also I remember reading about poor signals some time ago which was solved by changing the radio version (and is also probably why I didnt have this problem with my original niki).
Note: I have also tried the sim in another normal phone (samsung e900) and it worked fine so this is definately a problem with the touch dual.
A little bit of info:
Im with orange in the Uk,
the ROM version is 1.31.61.10 with a ROM date 10/30/07
and the Radio version is 1.58.16.27.
(Also...I havent done a radio update because I am still under warranty but I would like to know if it could be causing the problem or if it is a hardware problem).
Thanks for reading this long post (didnt think it would turn out so long, lol), but ANY help or advice will be appreciated.
well it sounds like a bad signal, so unless you want to unlock yor phone and try the modded sedna radio (best) id just send it back and complain loudly
Hi everyone.
This is my first time in xda and i am here posting because i have a problem with my htc elfin.
I bought the phone from e-bay. The seller told me it was unlocked but in fact it wasnt. It was on Orange and i had to unlock it using a program i bought on ebay (latter i saw it for free online ). The program was designed for htc elf but i was told it would work. Well, in fact it did, but i have a problem... The phone easilly loses network and even when it was network it wont make or receive calls... Texting works ok... I really dont know what to do... Can anyone help me??
Best regards
Hi,
Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it does kind of sound like the phone may be broken... two things you could try anyways:
a) Perform a hard-reset: Switch off your phone, keep both phone buttons pressed (green&red) and switch it on. The out-of-box state will be restored and all your data will be erased (!). So backup your contacts before doing this.
If this does not work, then it is highly likely that your phone has some sort of hardware-issue. But you may still want to try
b) Upgrade the firmware of your phone (including the radio part!). Just look around in this forum, there's basically everything you need. Always pay close attention to the how-to-guides & make sure you proceed exactly as decribed there.
Good luck,
murosama
Hi
I tryed what you said. Hard reset made nothing but updating rom did... I his working better but not perfect... Maybe some antena problem dont you think?
Phone rings, I pick up the call, the screen shows connected and starts the call timer but you cant hear anyone the other end. hang up the call and the phone freezes with only a soft reset (taking battery out) works. I have a T-Mobile contract handset and was running the 1.43 rom. I thought maybe flashing to another rom might help so tried the 1.48 update but still having problems. I have hard reset and installed no software but still have the problem. Any ideas guys....
Obvious answer: Don't answer calls!
On the serious side, if you are seeing the same issue regardless of software and after a hard reset it is most likely your hardware. Get in the que to get it replaced as soon as possible. I hope it doesn't sour your opinion of the phone too much, it really is a great phone.

1.43 ROM? That is a 512LEO type ROM, you might want to step up to at least a 2.10 ROM if you have a 1024 Tmo HD2
If you want the stock ROM without the "trial" then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655653
Then download and install the 2.10 ROM (This will clear the "trial" screen)
Then install the 2.10.1; and it will put everything back to stock except for the HSPL (if you run from PC)
What do you mean by "if you run from pc"
