good day all
any idea if we can fit the 1400mah battery of Nexus One on our htc HD2 ? does both batteries have same physical size ?
can anyone confirm ?
I doubt it, but it's not just size thats the problem. You need to look at the specs for each one; see what voltage and ampage each one puts out. The Nexus One battery could very well fry the HD2's components, or fail to power them.
Hmmmm
I was thinking the same thing when is saw this

You still get alot more out of the HD2 (taken from gsmarena.com)

I think someone was being VERY over optimistic when they wrote the specs for the HD2 battery
Standby 490 hours? over 20 days???...yeah right!!!
I went away recently, and as a test turned flight mode on (no signal at all), charged battery to 100% and left it...result..flat battery in 8 days...with nothing being used. so I can't see how 20 days standby would EVER be available

That is fooked up man, how can they advertise 20days standby and it only gives 8..!! what level of standby do they mean, OFF lol..!! they say 490 on GSM and u only got around 192 in flight mode, so not even GSM..!!!!
isnt there some kind of advertising law??

Very brave of you that you wanted to do this test and accept the fact that you would not be able to use your HD2 for 8 days
I can't live without mine for a single day !!

I had never ever believed battery figures because they never tell the truth, thats why I want to know if the battery physically fits so that I test it by my self and see if its better than hd2 battery
The battery in from the nexus has a different aspect ratio to the hd2 battery. Not a chance of it fitting.

are you really sure about this ?
from the picture of Nexus one battery, it seems more like hd2 battery. thats why there is a chance that it will fits
Look at the tabs/indents on the bottom of the battery and compare it to the HD2. Different shape and different fitting. Forget this idea, the N1 battery is not gonna fit in an HD2.

What's kinds of battery life is everyone getting from the Niki ?
I
have tried three ROMS and three different Radios, and I barely get a full days use (low usage as well) on the battery is down to 30%.
I have GPRS on, but always auto disconnect after 1min, and check my email every 15mins.
I use a diferent battery , original battery has 1150 mAh and my new battery has 1400 mAh
and how much more performance do you get with your 1400 mAh battery?
also where did you buy it and how much?

I think its a mid day more.
I bought the battery at eBay , 2 batterys aprox 13 €
http://cgi.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...o=CRX&its=S%2BI%2BSS&itu=ISS%2BUCI%2BSI&otn=4
My original battery lasts 2 days normal use without a problem.
Even with (for me) heavy use and 3G always connected (pushmail)
I get a full day usage.
does it stick out of the back of your device?
with push email 24/7 enabled and GPRS i not even get a full day out of it.
its awful!
excellent I get at least a couple of days use out of it . but when I visit my mother in law I get one day use . its all to do with the strength of the signal strong at home and work so lasts ages but weak at the mother in laws hence only 1 day use.
this is with push mail enabled.

No , only the 2400/2500 mAh stick out of the back of the device.
Largest Capacity with the same back cover
I found a 1400 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....gory=130787&ssPageName=STORE:PROMOBOX:NEWLIST
Sems a good deal, anyone know of anything larger, without having the change the back cover ?

Is the same of my battery.
For the moment , without change back cover , is the max capacity.
Sedio makes 1500 mah, but they're total rip offs. 45 bucks. I bought my 2400mah on ebay for 10 dollars. hehe. It's huge I don't like it like this. But it gives me a full day of 3g. Today i'm trying GPRS only and a lot of usage
Is it the battery who's so weak or is it the phone that uses so much energy so you can use is for only 2 days?
I've already the 2400mah and going to buy the 1400 for more fun

I want to return my 2400 and just get the 1400's. But I also realized that there are some apps that kill my battery, Jivetalk (Alpha with no battery conservation mode yet) totally reaks havoc on my battery. So I'm hoping that 300mah might make a difference .... I'm also thinking of keeping the 2400 for skype days
i flashed tom_codon's rom the other day, and after nearly 12 hours im @ 79% and that's with 3g enabled and emails checking every five minutes, texts, etc.
with my original htc branded rom i'd be at about 30-50% now :S

yeah, positive. tho if signal strength is low it will drain battery quicker. i always have full bars where i am. i still haven't charged since my last post @6:01AM and i'm at 35% now, and that's with playing around with PointUI for a good couple of hours. deffo better battery for me. I don't use too many fancy apps though. just batterystatus, slideactions and HTC home + touchFlo, and always use 'X' tap to close apps and not leave them resident. maybe that helps
I read somewhere recently the battery life of an iPhone 3G (not the new one being release next few weeks) describes as follows:
The 3G got 6hrs on Wi-Fi, 7hrs on Video, 24hrs on Audio, 10hrs on 2G talk and 5hrs on 3G talk.
Anyone seen any similar stats for the G1?

Thank you for the immensely useful post.
I did try searching, but found nothing that had similar parameters to compare against.
Battery Rechargeable Lithium-ion battery
Capacity: 1150 mAh
Talk time:
*
Up to 350 minutes for WCDMA
*
Up to 406 minutes for GSM
Standby time:
*
Up to 402 hours for WCDMA
*
Up to 319 hours for GSM
(The above are subject to network and phone usage.)
This might not be exactly what you are looking for, but interesting none the less.

I did a comparison today between my two phones both running Android Gingerbread (GingerVillain on G2 and CM7 Nightly on HD2).
As I suspected the G2 needs/takes more power than the HD2. Strange!
Can someone explain why the G2 takes much more power than my HD2?
This is how I set things up:
Both on Gingerbread (as mentioned above), with Conservative govenor set to exactly the same.
HTC Vision G2 set to 245-806 MHz in SetCPU and HTC HD2 set to 245-960 MHz in SetCPU.
I have exact the same apps installed on both phones.
I have used the same version of Battery Monitor Widget on both phones for measuring the power.
Test 1:
HTC HD2 with 3G active, HTC Vision G2 without SIM-card, both with WLAN active, Bluetooth inactive, Sync off, Screen off.
Measured values (mA)
Time: / G2: / HD2:
14:52 / -35 / -8
14:53 / -35 / -8
14:54 / -38 / -38
14:55 / -38 / -20
14:56 / -35 / -72
14:57 / -35 / -13
14:58 / -38 / -67
Average: -36,3 / -32,3
Diff: 11%
Test 2:
Both phones in Airplane mode, Screen off.
Measured values (mA)
Time: / G2: / HD2:
15:21 / -43 / -6
15:22 / -42 / -8
15:23 / -42 / -8
15:24 / -42 / -9
15:25 / -42 / -9
15:26 / -42 / -64
15:27 / -42 / -35
Average: -42,1 / -19,9
Diff: 53%
Conclusion:
Under almost exact the same preferences the G2 needs 11-53% more power than the HD2. And the G2 doesn't even have a SIM card in it, also it's clocked lower than the HD2??
Today I also tried near stock FroYo ROMS and CM 6.1 ROMS on the G2 with approximately the same power hunger.
There must be a way to make the G2 take less power?
Does your G2's take as much power as mine? I'd be very happy for examples of other ROMs/settings to make the G2 last longer on battery. It should easily outlast my HD2 I think.
ill write you a little tutorial if you like ?
i am using stock but i have changed loads of settings to make it last 30hours
thats with around 30mins of calls
20 texts
30 mins of gaming (NOVA)
30 mins of xda viewing
sent 3 emails
facebook for 10 mins
internet for 30 mins
and listening to music
if you want me to then just reply or send me a personal message
Yeah the G2 last a whole lot longer than the HD2 in battery. Its also more powerful too.

I am not an expert, so don't know how can i post the stats posted here, but I can say that from the behavior of my G2, I have a feeling that my battery doesn't last longer than 9-10 hours in total.
I have an iPhone4 and G2, both are fully charged at the same time, I have to charge my G2 twice when iPhone is still at 25%.
I know they both are different and uses different resources but still, I can easily get a day off iPhone but G2 will require atleast a couple of charges per day.
Still... I love my G2 more than any other phones I have used in past...
Is it possible for you to post that battery use chart? That would tell us a little more about how you use it. I'm easily getting a full day on my G2 with like 40 percent remaining.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
i've been very happily surprised at the battery (stock) of my g2. I can currently easily get 30-40 hours of use out of it, on EDGE. 3G/hspa = 28-30. wifi, i dunno, i never use wifi that much. bluetooth ? that's a 30 second at a time thing.
I'm using #6 of cyanogenmod's nightly builds. screen set to automagic.
maybe your battery is junk ? it happens.
I am at 15% at 12 hours at the most, sometimes 10 hours. But I probably have 30-60 mins of voice, wifi on always, 60 mins of browsing, 30 mins email, 30 mins games, 15 mins Facebook
If I start using Maps of GPS though forget it, dead in 5 hours...but same with any phone I had including the HD2 before this.
My iPhone lasted longer but I hated it so didn't use it much!

No, it doesn't. I can barely get 9 hours usage out of my G2.
i to noticed that the battery doesn't last long. is it just me or does it take forever to charge?
I still love it though
has anyone tried the HTC evo trick
i have and it actually works
turn the phone on and charge for 8 hours (overnight i did)
unplug and turn phone off
with the phone turned off plug the charger in and charge it for 1 hour (clockworkmod may start up... just leave it on)
unplug and turn the phone on
leave it for 10 mins
turn it off
with the phone turned off plug the charger in and charge it for another hour
unplug the charger and turn the phone on
it might work.. mine certainly stays at 100% for ages before moving down
after reading up for the past few weeks on here and rooting then getting the proper rom/radio/kernel and setting right my G2's battery is not an issue at all for me.
I also noticed it definitely improved as it cycled it when I first got it a few times.
deffo, i agree... after about a weeks use the battery life improves dramatically
One other thing to consider is the strength of the cell signal where you. Despite all the power-saving tricks in the world, if I am at work where the 3G signal is crap (-103 dBm) and the phone is constantly flicking back and forth between 2G & 3G, then my battery life is just horrible. I struggle to make it through my 12hr shift (unless I keep it on 2G, and switch 3G on when I need it).
Whereas at home, connected to wifi all the time and my 3G signal is something like -85 dBm, I can easily get through 24hrs usually.
The one thing I've hated about Android since my G1 is having to micro-manage stupid things like 2G/3G, screen brightness, etc. I wish I could just leave my phone to sort all that stuff out itself without worrying about my battery, like I did with my old Nokia N73 (admittedly, that phone was horrible in so many other ways compared). With my G1 I resorted to carrying a spare battery around, and that is just a joke.
As for the original question "Why does the G2 use more power than the HD2" - who knows? If all else identical except the CPU/hardware then I guess that is the only explanation.

well i decided to give my phone a break and left it on minimum usage for almost 4 days now, other than some calls here and there, a bout of angry birds and checking mail via gprs and wifi.
after 4 days battery level is at 51%, (using battery indicator pro) and this is quite impressive considering my minimum usage and now am wondering how long it will go. 8days? maybe?
this is on stock JPY...no root or lag fixes.
Interesting,
Battery Standard battery, Li-Ion 1500 mAh
Stand-by Up to 750 h (2G) / Up to 576 h (3G)
Talk time Up to 13 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 6 h 30 min (3G)
thats the offical line in the specs

Hehe, I didn't do reallife tests, but assume without usage you can make over 20 days I used to have my phone on standby for about 30h, data, wifi off, 2G only, and lost 4%, that extrapolates to about 30days on standby?
Swyped from another GALAXY
I had my ideos for nearly a year now (since they came out pretty much.. and XDA u8800 forum was brand spanking new.. anyways today I was comparing it with some more high end devices etc.. and I noticed this on GSM Arena it says
Battery Standard battery, Li-Po 1500 mAh
Stand-by Up to 380 h (2G) / Up to 440 h (3G)
Talk time Up to 8 h 20 min (2G) / Up to 6 h 40 min (3G)
Aside from the fact that those figures.. ARE A JOKE.. what is more funny and more of a joke is.. that it says in 2G the battery will last 380 hours and in 3G it will last for 440 hours.. That is 60 more hours.. but in Android settings, as far as I know.. it says 2G SAVES BATTERY! (and to my understanding.. it makes sense)
Just a funny fact I noticed.. thought I would share.
lol i noticed that, and shared it on facebook as soon as i got my X5 )
it was funny and shocking )
Lol...but why not? You know... it's Huawei
But huawei is great dude!
Yes, especially their aftersale support. Now I mean still beta version upgrade to 2.3 on IDEOS X5 Comic.
Yeah.. they instead concentrate on new products only.. no aftersales.. but hey, if you hang around xda and install custom roms etc.. you can have a pretty great device.. for cheap.
It's also like that on a lot of HTC smartphones. 3G standby is good, but then you need ideal signal and not enable data.
Otherwise it's better to use 2G.
So it's possible...
Are those data official?
I've heard about those data are tested in lab environment, not in daily usage environment.
My longest daily usage time is 4 days and 4.5 hours (100 hours), in those days
- turn Power Saving Mode on
- use 2G only
- phone calls for about 1 hour
- turn WiFi on for a while to surf web, play tiny games
Not sure if they are official or not.. but on the official website there are no such figures:
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...nfoId=2914&treeId=3745&directoryId=6001&tab=0
@lovetide: What ROM is that?
I only use official ROM, rooted, and remove some applications.
The screenshot was taken at 2012-01-30, ROM version should be B522.
