No Navi Panel - HD2 General

Hello all,
I have just received a HTC HD2(Leo) from Vodafone and have paired it with my Parrot handsfree, and have set the bluetooth settings to start the Navi Panel. Except it does not start.
I then looked in the Windows folder and can not find Navi.exe , does anyone know if it is not included in a Voda variant?
If not is is possible for someone to send me a copy?
Wan

mine doesn't have the navi panel either
either the original T mobile rom or the new 1.48 rom!

Chaps,
Look here.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581144
Also you may have to use the option of showing hidden files in File Explorer to find it.

Hi
Wacky.Banana
You are correct you have to click MEnu in explorer thencheck Show Hidden Files.
Double clicking the Navi file causes the application to run.
The reason why it doesn't run when connected to my car kit is the HD2 needs to be plugged into a charger

Morning,
To unhide files in explorer go to Tools>Folder Options>View>Show Hidden Files... to solve that problem.
In terms of finding the Navi Panel file you need to explore the Windows folder on the device (fine doing this via Activesync). Once the files have loaded up (can take some time as there are stacks of files in this directory) scroll through until you eventually come to 3 files all called Navi...
Click on the properties of each file; what you are looking for is the file whose properties are application. That's the one you want.
If you want to use it to access the Navi panel, copy that file into your StartMenu folder, which is a sub folder of the Windows folder.
From here exit these folders, go into the StarMenu folder by tapping on Start at the top of your device screen and you should find the Navi file at the bottom of the items listed on that screen (you can tap and hold to get the sub menu that allows you to move the file to the top of the list).
For greater ease of use you can now copy the file as a quicklink onto your front screen. Job done!
Incidentally these instructions are based on using Activesync to access the device and copy and paste that way, not by trying to do all this on the device itself, which you might find tedious and frustrating.
If you get stuck pm me and I will see what I can do to get you there.
Hope this helps.

hi ive found all that on my htc hd2 and done all that but once ive accessed the application it wont let me choose a voice on the app when runnin

Navipanel is designed to work in conjunction with the HTC hardware car kit, which connects with a terminal under the battery cover. It's quite likely that a lot of the functions (such as speakerphone) only work with the hardware connection.

Ok, dumb question now, sorry :-(
In my haste I copied Navipanel.exe into Startup insted of Start menu. Now I can't delete or move it and it's causing some problems. Can anyone help a dumbo and tell me how to get rid of it pls?

How do I make a shortcut to the bluetooth settings?

I use SPB today.
I cant find a shortcut to bluetooth settings and I would find one really useful.
Can anybody point me in the right direction
Cheers
Copy this link to your device or storage.
Then create a shortcut to this link.
Easiest way I found was to install O2 Plus (and Mystery's patch to enable it for all devices, after installation of the actual program) and then I just made a shortcut to the Bluetooth settings, right on the Today screen.
Tjongi,
thanks thats just what i was after!

Data Connection .lnk
I'm looking for a .lnk for Data Connection in the control panel. Does anyone know one for that?
I use a free app call "Any Cut", which let's you make shortcuts to lots of cool stuff like special settings. Check it out!
hey just use any {explorer} program for creating links your needed files, for example, Total Commader, Resco Explorer)
grab file on attachment & rename file type *.zip => *.exe)

Full WM6 or 6.1 on Shift

Everyone,
This is one of my first posts. I have been reading the threads on this and cannot make heads or tails of what's going on. I have a Shift for eval purposes and after playing around with it, I think it's a pretty amazing device. HTC has crippled the phone capability in the US versions because they haven't certified it for voice use with the FCC yet. If we can access "file explorer" and some of the other features of WM6, I think a lot can be done to modify it or even to use it for voice. Has anybody made any headway as far as a new ROM that enables all of this functionality?
No
nobody has yet developed the crack. The reason is because nobody has the machine yet. Can u comment a bit about the battery life. Is it very disappointing?
well, now that several people actually have the device in-hand, could somebody please confirm that the ability to expose full WM6 exists as described by Pawel062:

hmm dont really understand the last part about snapvue. the snapvue for athena is snapvue from shift with a small mod to re enable the softkeys and start menu. it will work on shift and also re enable the soft keys and start menu making the shift's wm6 "Full" again

So Any luck running/installing any other programs on SnapVue?
greetz,
Pfeffa-rah
what about athena projects rom? that rom is actually from shift right?
snapvue is actually a today plugin pretty much. it hides the soft keys and start menu of the original wm6. then from the plugin u have access to messaging, settings, and other basic stuff.
this is ment so u use vista but with only 2hrs max battery on vista many people would like to use the less power hungry wm6. i am working with paul from modaco.com on re enabling the full wm6 by putting a modded dll that will unhide the start menu. after that ull be able to get into file explorer and get a reg editor to re enable the soft keys.
heres the challlenge:
--no usb port like regular htc phones to sync the shift and get the dll on their. only usb host
--no bluetooth in snapvue/wm6 side
--no wifi in snapvue/wm6 side
--no ir in wm6 side
--vista device central doesnt see the wm6 side
--cant save files from email to windows folder
and i cant remember now the other blockades. i will continue working on it though.
Seems like that there is some kind of file transfer, it uses it when you install a certificate in shift control center, but how to crack it open or replicate the process for other files, and then execute the file on snapvue site ....
Think its time for a "taskforce thred" where all info is posted so everyone can work on it.
Sounds a lot more difficult then I first imagined....
(No BT??? OMG! had no idea!)
Sounds like I have to be a bit more patient...
This doesnot sound like it´s gonna be solved in a couple of days....
It´s great that you´re workin on it guys!
greetz,
Pfeffa-rah
thanks Pawel062, I appreciate your efforts in trying to find a way to get this to work!
Just saw if you edit a contact and then try to attach a picture, you can browse the WM6 folders.
Unfortunately you can only see the pictures, because it's using the picture manager from HTC..
Silly thought: The miniUSB connector on the dongle formally is only meant to provide additional power to devices that otherwise would not be detected (External Harddrives etc). Would it be a silly thought to assume that the same miniUSB port could somehow allow us to access the SnapVue part? The miniUSB port is located at the back next to the cable leading back to the Shift.
I hadn't even noticed that.
I just plugged mine in for the first time, the only drivers Vista installs are for a Generic USB Hub and a USB to Ethernet Adaptor. There doesn't seem to be anything else hidden in there.
If anyone needs anything tested on a shift dont hesitate to ask. Full WM6 functionality would be greatly appreciated and would turn snapview from a gimick into a usefull tool.
OK so thanks to Michael who commented on Browsing using Contacts and Pictures, I managed to gain access to the Windows Mobile File Explorer and other software on the device.
First step is to create a new email.
From the menu Insert - Picture.
Using the browse capability go to the Windows folder
Locate Start Menu and press Ctrl C
Browse to Settings
Press Ctrl V
Go to Snapvue homescreen and goto Settings
Start Menu will be visible and you can then access File Explorer etc.
Hope this helps....
Excellent. I have sent myself the executable of PHM.lu's regedit, saved it into my documents, and am now able to access and edit the registry!

Great! Any possibilty to enable blocked things like office or is it not installed?
Also in my limited investigations, I have managed to almost access Windows Vista from the Windows Mobile side.
Using Resco's Explorer with its Network Access functionality, I performed the following.
Under Windows Vista, run the ShagCtrl application.
Install a Certificate, this can be any file you like.
You will see the progress bar appear and drop up and down. If you listen you will hear the sound of a new device being added.
Do NOT click OK when prompted as this will remove the device.
If you load up Device manager, you will see an "NDIS shared Internet connection" (or something similar) appear under network connections.
If you open CMD and run an IPConfig, you will see that this connection has an IP Address of 192.168.160.102 and a gateway and DHCP server of 192.168.160.1.
From the Windows Mobile side, load Resco Explorer and goto Menu - File - Network - Map Drive
In the dialog that appears, you should see Computers near Me (or similar) and under here should be your Vista machine.
If you share a drive, or select the Vista computer and put \c$ on the end, it should try to connect.
This is as far as it gets me so far. Was a late one, but I couldnt get it to actually connect.
So close yet so far.
In Addition, if you try to run a cab file it will error. This is because HTC have remove the Open command file association for Cab files.
Using your favourite WM registry editor goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Cabfile\Shell\Open\command\.
Under Default type
wceload.exe "%1" /nodelete
cab files will now install correctly.
Hope this helps...
Hi,
I ama anew user of Shift. I am did not understand clearly what did you mean about full WM6 or 6.1. Knows somebody how can we have a full WM6 on it? Pls help me I really need a full WM6 system also.
Thx.
Ok, so I've accessed the Start menu using Vs1979s instructions, and I've found that Windows Live messenger is on the device and works ok. I'd like to try and install Opera, but I need a registry editor that isn't a CAB file in order to add back in the registry key to support CAB files - can someone point me in the direction of one?
Thanks,
Dave

How did you load Resco Explorer on Snapvue?

Trying to customize Start Menu

My Start Menu is really crowded. The Custom ROM I had on my TP2 had the icons sorted into folders -- which I really liked -- so I'm trying to do that on my HD2.
Doing that through File Explorer seems tedious, however, whenever I navigate to the Start Menu folder on my PC with the phone hooked up via USB, I can't move icons into folders, I'm told I don't have the permissions.
Any fix?
Also, is there any way to get the Start Menu (and it's folders) to sort themselves like Windows Explorer typically sorts files -- folders first, files second, and after that alphabetically?
I'm using Windows Mobile 6.5.5 if it makes any difference.
Would appreciate help.
I'm not aware of any editor for the start menu I'm afraid, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.
I've tidied mine before now, but just using the method you suggested and using totaly commander. At least I could multi-select links, rather than move them 1-by-1.
Sorry mate.
Maybe i'm missing something, but I can't replicate the problem? I have just tested this, and I can quite happily browse to the windows/start menu/programs folder of my mobile from my pc, (it takes quite a while to open the windows folder, maybe 2 minutes) , then create folders and move links around without a problem. Is that what you are trying to do?
<Edit>Using windows 7 ultra, and i have the allow all programs tweak from bsb tweaks, doesn't that set the permissions in teh registry to something less controlling?
I´m looking for a tool that not only sorts the icons but also changes the registry settings for the links. That means that if you uninstall the program the start menu icon is also removed and so on...

How to re-create the deleted shortcuts?

I deleted the following shortcuts "Transformers", "MobiTV", "Market Place" and "YouTube" from Windows/Start Menu/Program, thinking they were redundant since they were already on the home screen. But while the icons are still on the home screen, I can't get to the four programs by tapping on the icons; instead, I got the error message about "Shortcut Target" saying "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename".
I was able to find the "MobiTV" and "Transformers" folders, but I could not create shortcuts from the .exe files since the "Create shortcut" was gray and did not respond to taps. My questions are: (1) How do I re-create those four shortcuts that would make the icons on the home screen work again? and more generally, (2) How do I create shortcuts (gray-colored) for any .exe files? Any suggestions and help will be much appreciated.
I know that the "Total Commander" app let's you create links where File Explorer doesn't, but I've never actually messed with that part of the app very often.
Tons of folks are complaining about the movie icon, as far as I know no one has found a way to fix it once you break it
You got it the wrong way round.
First, click on "Copy" option for the exe file that you wish to make a shortcut.
Then go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, click on "Menu", the option "Paste shortcut" should be available now.
Re-created shortcut for MobiTV, but not for the other three
After seeing your answer, I realized I should have performed them on my HD2, instead of on my synced desktop PC! As long it is a .exe file, a shortcut can always be created for it on Windows program page by using the method you described. Thanks Zentury!
However, I could only recover (re-create) the shortcut for MobiTV since it is a single .exe file. I could not even find where the .exe files are for YouTube and Market Place to re-create the shortcuts for them... As for Transformers, since it is a folder with two .exe files, I could only create shortcuts for each of the two separately on Windows program page, and the icon on the home screen still does not work. Any ideas?

As for the Transformer Shortcuts use the cab posted, The other exe your looking for are in the windows folder on the phone. You Could always reinstall marketplace, for that shortcut.
Thanks for the attached .cab file! I downloaded the .cab file for Transformers but am wondering where should I put it: in the Device or in the Storage Card, and in what folder?
I did find Market Place and YouTube folders only in the Device's Windows folder, but where are the .exe files for them?! In Market Place folder, there is only one tiny file called ClientLog0 (263B); and in YouTube folder, there are four folders and hundreds jpeg files.... I did the search on my desktop PC for files in HD2 and know there is one YouTube.exc but don't know which specific folder it is in... Without getting to these .exe files, I don't know how to restore/reinstall the shortcuts for them. Please kindly advise. Thanks.

it doesnt matter where you copy the cab file do as long as you know where it is, once it is on the device use the file explorer to find it and run it. Try this cab for the other 2 link files
I tried the Transformers.cab on my Device but failed to install because of "not sufficient system permissions". Earlier, I found Transformers.lnk in Device Windows and paste it on Windows/Start Menu/Program. Tapping on the home screen Transformer button will take me to the two Transformers movies, but I lost the nice Transformers icon on the home screen; instead, I only got the boring old Windows icon in its place. How do I get the nice Transformers icon back on the home screen?
I got YouTube shortcut back to work OK now, but Marketplace shortcut still does not work. The .cab file for Marketplace installed without any error message ("successfully installed on your device") and the Marketplace icon stays on the home screen, but tapping on it does not take me to its web page. Can you suggest anything I can try? Thanks again.

I would just reinstall the marketplace cab and that should fix it. Not real sure on the icon.
I reinstalled the Marketplace.cab file a few times on my Device, still no luck - tapping on its icon on the home screen won't point to the right web page, only the same error message... The strange thing to me is there seems no .exe file for Marketplace on the device, so ... how did it ever get started?

Hi, just catching up with the latest on your problem resolution. (Note: I'm on the other side of the ocean.)
I took a look at the contents of Marketplace.lnk on my HD2 and the file location is "\Windows\WMMarketplace.exe".
Thank for taking the time to look it up - now I know why I couldn't find its .exe file on the device: it's WMMarketplace.exe, not just Marketplace.exe! Next time when I do the "search", I will use the wild card symbol * in the search string. Some valuable lesson learned!
Anyway, the shortcut problem for Marketplace was solved last night after I found another Marketplace.cab (116kB) provide by zelendel in another earlier xda forum thread. The youtube & marketplace.cab file I've been using and did not work is only about 2kB in size so apparently was not a good .cab file.
The only remaining "missing shortcut" problem I have is now changed to "missing icon" for Transformers on the home screen. The two Transformers.cab files I got from the xda forum all have the error message "not sufficient system permissions" when I tried to install them. Since the installations were "unsuccessful", the ugly blank-look icon in place for Transformers on the home screen still keeps staring back at me ...
Anyone got a Transformers.cab to share that would not cause the "unsuccessful" verdict and would restore the nifty Transformers icon on the home screen? Thanks!
Ive just downloaded that Transformers cab thinking it was going to the movie file or some funky robotic program and all i got was a shortcut leading to nothing??
Hmm, now how the hell do i remove it? Ive deleted the cab file but the shortcut is still visible on the start menu.

You probably aren't running the Tmo ROM, right? The transformers link only opens up the player for the movies that are provided to tmo owners on the included 16GB SD card...so all you did was indeed install a "link to nowhere".
You'll need to navigate to /windows/start menu on the phone, and delete the "transformers.lnk" file there.
there is an app on freewarepocketpc.net called "LnkMgr", that you can use to create shortcuts ...
works ok ..

Cant add programs to list

HI, i have seen on this WM6.5 that i can't add any program (ie one thats not say google maps or one of those big companies)
i can run the program via file manager and clicking the application .exe
the phone still wont see the application as a program.
i had a jasjam before and the prgrams i am trying to add worked fine but now on 6.5 cant do this.
the only way is to run these apps, well not run but to get a short cut, is on a program like CHome but then i move away from HTC sense start up display that is nicer looking.
like i said the programs work fine, just can see them in programs.
anything that will help?
cheers
have you posted a shortcut to your windows\start menu\programs\
I'm running 6.5 and any time I have a program installed on my sd card or trying to run an .exe from the storage card (or even if the .exe is just in another folder) thats what I do and it shows in my start menu or whatever subfolder I put it in in the start menu.

Yeap, in programs folder as an .exe, other folders like goggle maps are there too. The programs still don't show or work. Should i not try and get an .cab version? since looking into this takes you into trying to understand a pda rather than a PC. The .exe files still cant be seen, i have to run them via file explorer, although now loaded a short cut via button strokes so am using that to make the task a little easier.
I ran a .cab file on another program and found it distributed files with icons and other th9ngs that seem to integrate better into the host rather than an .exe
Also been looking at all the apps these phones can have its amazing.
I have one on my phone that can change a set of traffic lights in my city!
With authorisation of course, its my job, just saying how the PDA has really started to take off. become the real modern Swiss army knife.
