Sorry if you have read this already, I think I posted in the wrong section.:
Hi I have a very strange issue. My Universal only works properly when the screens casing is open. If it is closed... soon after my touchscreen stops working and my backlight may or may not function. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I love this site!
Have you tried doing a hard reset?
interesting
I have done a hard reset, but it doesn't really fix the problem. Does this sound more like a software issue, as you are the second person to ask me this. If I can't figure it out, I guess I will just sell it for parts. Ho-humm!
Sounds more like a hardware issue to me. I would open up the Uni and check the connections of the screen cable are secure. Step by step instructions can be found in the manual - see Wiki.

looks like a fairly complicated procedure
This is nothing new and has been covered previously in this forum. Check the Wiki, and you'll find a very simple and painless solution to the screen alignment problem...

Yep, that's right and also keep in mind that there is NO solution that has worked for everybody. It is hit or miss, lots of folks use the business card method - didn't work for me. I took mine apart but it took several attempts to adjust things just right. (And others have said theirs ended up in a worse state, one I saw even ended up with the screen so far out of alignment it refused to align at all!!
If it's under warranty send it back

Speakerphone comes on about 2 seconds after phone connects.
I had the problem where my dpad was not working properly and i was getting white screen but followed instructions in another thread and now those problems are fixed. I thought it might be related but it appears to be unrelated.
I installed the "speakerphone" application thinking it might have the option to reset screwed up registry settings. No change, although its a program with some interesting spy applications.
I searched for hours about settings or hardware problems with no meaningful results
The rom and radio has been the same for about a year and they are rom vp3g
and radio 1.54.30.10
Any help would be appreciated.
Well if no one knows it must be hardware, anybody have any ideas

I wish I was posting a helpful reply. Sadly not.
To be honest I would have thought a software issue. However I assume you have tried a hard reset and it persists.
I cannot think what hardware issueit might be that would re-route from front to rear speaker. The only possibility I can think of is a fault at the USB connector (It being involved with routing sound to headphones etc. So just a thought of perhaps bent pins in the socket or worse, faulty connections to the board.

Hello all,
I'm newby at the forum and sorry for my bad English. I just read all the threads concerning my problem, before post this, and a can't find any solution
I bought this phone on ebay faulty. The seller tell that it only problem was white screen. I thought was simple to fix with flashing but... I tried to fix it using all the solutions even i just open it and clean with a soft brush but no luck
When i turn it on i just see a white screen. When a plug it in ac adapter he charge and when a plug it at my desktop e charge too but don't syncronize with active sync 4,5. For this i don't know if is a software or hardware issue.
I can't put into bootloader too.
Any Help? I don't want spend my money in a new lcd without your opinion.
Thanks in advance for all e regards from Portugal.
This topic has been covered many times, which is perhaps why folk will not answer in a new thread about it.
Have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321163
But in summary:
Flashing will not cure it.
A new screen will probably not cure it.
In many cases it is caused by a fault on the d/pad. Replacing that might be successful. In the thread above look for the bit about putting padding on a d/pad chip - that seems to have worked for many (but not all)

Hi there. I just open a new thread cause i had read all the things in the link you gave, with no luck for me. But thank you for the help.
Hello! I have the same problem with my Hermes. But I know how to solve it - at least in my case. I had to open PDA and look inside. There's a tape (strip?) which is connected by two screws. Well, one is gone. The tape doesn't lie as it should so I had to connect it by glue. Now it's fine. It was physical damage, flashing wouldn't help much, especially here but my thougts were similiar in the beginning.
Good luck and Cheers
Hi all,
First of all let me appologise for my bad english.
I have a G1 and yesterday after i called someone the touchscreen stopped working.
Now I tried a few things to test if it was really not working
- flashed a new rom to see if it was the rom
- used a backup when it was working.
- Reset the phone.
Now I opened the G1 and noticed the Flex Cable has a little tear in it.
At first i thought that was the problem, but i dont think that cable breaks that easy if you make a phone call.
(I reassembled the phone and the lcd screen is working and all but no touchscreen)
So i was wondering, is it common of the touch screen just stops working?
And is there a way to test the touchscreen?
Many thanks,
MacWell
I'm sorry if i posted this in the wrong place or if this already has been answerd, but i couldn't find it with the search button.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I do not use a screen protector.
I ordered a new G1 flex cable and I hope this will fix the problem.
However if it doesn't fix the problem I think i'll buy a new touchscreen for the G1.
But if anyone has an idea please tell me
Hey everyone. I searched everywhere I could find but with no avail.
Here's my problem. I replace my digitizer with another one. I replaced it just fine as far as my knowledge goes, but after all finished and everything ready and closed/screwed on, I fired it up and the backlight was GONE!
The display works, the touch works, MyMobiler works both with mouse and finger touching on the screen, but the damn screen is DIMMED! I can barely see it if I removed the digitizer or if I shed some light(flashlight) on it from an angle. But just barely.
Tried 3 different ROMs since some suggested that on another thread, did a Hard/Soft reset, with no results.
Is this a screen/dimmer problem or whatever? So if anyone with some answer please help me out. Thank you.
I know that very few look at the Blackstone section nowdays but guys I really need some advice because I need to sell it and I have to pay for repairing(hoping to avoid it) before doing so and also because I already tried everything and I had enough of disassembling it and testing every connector/flex cable if they are connected properly.
Thank you.
loose or dis-connection somewhere..
check all your ribbons are properly lined up, and connected propperly too..
