Gprs issue - HD2 General

Hi all,
i have been using gprs network for all the internet activities.
The connection was connected but sometime the msn refuse to sign in & the browser could not load the pages.
This happens twice or once a day on my phone, i tried terminate the connection but same.
Finally need to restart the machine.
What could be the problem? Or 6.5 with free some bugs related to this?

Are you on O2 UK by any chance?

I have them same problem here in France with SFR. When I have only GPRS (not EDGE or 3G) data connection will only work when I have the full number of reception bars. When I have 1-3 only, no data connection (internet, weather update, e-mail etc.) works.
Does anyone else experience this?

Hello thank you for reply.
I am located in Hong Kong using peoples network which is now as China network.

Probably a network bug

My Atom Exec was well configured running for both GPRS & wifi, however under some conditions, the GPRS connection is conflicted, the symptom is cannot connect to any internet service (like web browsing, O2 Connect) even GPRS connection has been made.
It looks like the registry was changed because the problem will not gone away even soft reset. I tried to restore an old registry back up in order to corrected this problem. So far, I know two actions may caused this problem
1. After connected to second wifi router
2. Connect to wifi when there is a GPRS connection
I have the same problem... but i do not know how it coe about...
when i am on gprs.. i cannot connect to O2 Connect... but other wenb browsing can work...
weird.
Even web browsing works (PIE), but it takes very long time to resolved the domain name.

Block net access via 3G network, D810 - WM5

hey all,
Quick question, is it possible to block the D810 from using Optus 3G network to connect to the net?
I only want to use Wifi due to the charges that optus dish out when using their network.
Any ideas?
Thanks heaps
Hello,
I had the same problem with the 3G because when I open a internet explorer, it connects automatically to the 3G network.
The solution is on the forum : take a program named Bandswitch that allows you to turn off 3G, HSDPA, GPRS etc. That will save you some money and autonomy for your Trinity
hey,
thanks for the reply.
Does the program also stop connection to send MMS though?
thanks
ok cancel the question.
I actually called Optus (and the guy was helpful!!! OMG!!) all sorted.
Just deleted the Optus setting in the ISP and that is all, still can send MMS's but no net access.
thanks.
For anyone else interested, the answer to the earlier post is that Bandswitch can be set to allow/disallow each of the connections individually, so you can block the Mobile Internet APN, but still allow MMS and/or WAP depending on how things are configured by your Telco.

Problems using MMS On GPRS (TMUK)

Hi there,
Got my new G1 (BRILLIANT) the only problem is that when i'm using the GPRS network (for power saving) i cant send mms. The problem isnt network related because the sim can send them on 3g using the G1 and on GPRS in my SE w880, a few of my colleagues are having the same problem and were just looking to see if its only us or are other users having the same problems?
Using RC8.
Thanks In Advance
I havent noticed this problem yet, but I could assume its down to the data connection and the "mms data" connection being two different settings.
On my Hermes (WM) I couldnt send a mms without disconnecting my internet connection and allowing the phone to connect to the mms data connection.
WM could be altered to use the data connection to send MMS'. I assume the G1 wants to keep the data connection open all the time (which on 2g/gsm is your one and only connection) and this prevents MMS' being sent.

Issues with Data connectivity on Orange Touch HD

Hello all, I am after any help or experiences with a problem I have with my Touch HD. I received my Touch HD about 3 weeks ago and I'm very pleased with it aside from a problem I have with using 3G/GPRS data on the device.
When I first received the device and set it up, I could very easily surf the internet using Opera mobile and internet explorer programs and update the weather application. However, after approximately 3 days, this stopped working and I was no longer able to access the internet via 3G/GPRS. The Weather application displays "Connection Error - there was a connection error while attempting to download weather data. Retry?" Similar sort of error messages are received in opera Mobile and Internet explorer.
After calling my network provider (Orange UK), they asked me to try many things to get it working again but no joy, the settings were correct. They finally they asked me to do hard reset, which then seemed to fix the problem but this obviously is a reinstall of the phone.
Again approximately 3 days after I performed the hard reset, I lost my 3G/GPRS connectivity and again any applications that required connection to the internet could not make a connection (same as above). No settings have been changed at all, data service just stopped working. However I have noticed that the "select a modem" combo box for the Orange internet settings is greyed out with "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)" enabled - not sure if this is important or not.
The Wi-Fi connection functions properly, it is just 3G and GPRS that does not work.
Interested to know if anyone has/is experiencing this problem, has had it resolved or can offer any guidance.
ROM: 1.19.61.1 WWE
ROM date: 11/25/08
Radio: 1.09.25.14
Many thanks in advance,
Professor
Resolved!
Issue described above has now been resolved . There is a conflict issue with Wi-Fi and GPRS/3G. Configuring Touch HD Wi-Fi adapter with static IP and DNS causes GPRS/3G connection to stop working. Setting Wi-Fi adapter to "Use server-assigned IP" (the default) solves the issue.

Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem.

internet sharing while phone call

Hi,
I have a problem, while I share internet connection and make a phone call the phone change the connection technology form HSDPA to GPRS. How can I disable this function because I want to use fast internet connection even when I make phone call?
Using GPRS should not disable a HSPA connection. You can still browse the internet whilst on a phone call, which is exactly that.
You mentioned sharing the internet connection. Are you saying that you want to use the internet connection from your phone on another device whilst you're making a call?
I share the internet connection to my pc. I usually use vnc client through vpn tunnel and make phone call to describe something to my client. When the conversation starts the connection is changed form hsdpa to gprs. Gprs is too slow for vnc or remote desktop so I need HSDPA.
I know I can use GPRS and HSDPA or 3G at the same time, so this may be an issue with your network provider. Personally, I don't think this info will help me help you in the slightest, but it may help someone else help you...
What network are you with?
Is (was) your phone locked?
Where are you?
That info may well be relevant, as I do know that some setups can mean that you can only use one connection at a time, whereas most mean you can use multiple connections.
I'm form Poland and my operator is orange pl. What is strange hd2 is my second htc device. Previous device tytn II works without any problems also in orange network.
I have a question as well! I'm on tmobile and I live in south florida and I cant talk and use Internet at the same time, why not?
Turn off the Autodisconnect option. i had the same problem, as long this was turned on.
where can I find this option?
i had a problem when i was on a call. my Msn will disconnect after a few mins of call. any idea how to stay connect ?
