Not exactly sure what you're asking, but I do know that regular mini USB cables work on the HD even though the HD doesn't exactly have a mini USB port (it has an extUSB port).
extUSB == miniUSB + audio
one can get converters from extUSB to 3.5mm
and I suppose one could make 3.5mm to extUSB too never seen any though
but one can't make extUSB -> miniUSB when it comes to audio as miniUSB is a serial digital interface which don't carry any type of audio
one can use a miniUSB cable to charge and datatransfer in a extUSB as the usb pins are the same

I drive a prius with an AUX adapter (accepts a minjack) does anyone know of a cable that is a mini USB to mini jack?
Thanks!
you need a male USB to female 3.5mm adapter. Often, they come as male USB to both female 3.5mm and female USB. Many, many sites have them. Search for "USB audio splitter" or somthing like that.
Once you have one of those, you need a standard male 3.5mm to male 3.5mm headphone cable.
I have never seen a male USB to male 3.5mm cable.
Also, indicating which country you are in when asking where to buy something often helps, this is an international forum
Be aware that not all mini USB accessories work with the Kaiser. Some have the connector pins on the top, some on the bottom. You think that would be universal (thats what the "U" in USB stand for, you know!), but its not. And if you buy an accesory w. the wrong pin layout, it won't work.
I have read this is the case with some headsets, so the adapters may be the same case. Try to buy one that specifically says that it works with the Kaiser (or at least other HTC phones).

Sorry...I'm in the US.
Hey Griffin911, from one Prius driver to another.
Try http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=776
Then you will just need a male to male 3.5 mm adapter which you should be able to find at any Radio Shack. I am using this Seidio adapter with a set of Shure earbuds with my Kaiser and it works fine.
I haven't tried it on the Pruis's aux port yet, I travel through the week and haven't had as much time to play with it as I'd like. I'll do it when I get home Friday and post to this thread to let you know how it works.
I have paired the phone with the car via Bluetooth and transferred contacts fine (although transferring contacts is one at a time) and calls work fine as well.
I tried the Seidio adapter with the M to M 3.5 mm to the Aux jack on the Prius and it worked fine. I also ran the Odyssey nav software while playing MP3's through TCPMP and that worked fine. Only problem was the volume on the nav software was too loud when TCPMP was at the right volume, the volume controls don't work independently.
Didn't especially care for the Odyssey software (running the 14 day trial right now) the one route I mapped gave me a really weird route. I'll try the rest of the weekend and see how it works, but it's also not extremely intuituve from what I've seen so far.

It's not universal because ExtUSB is a proprietary extension to the USB standard.
Anything involving analog audio is NOT covered by the USB standard.
Hello all, I want to plug my Tilt into my factory Volkswagen radio as an auxilary audio input. I already have the volkswagen factory harness that accepts a white and red RCA pair. I know i could go to mini usb >>>> 3.5mm stereo>>rca OR does anyone make a mini usb strraight to RCA?

Olympus makes one for the 780 which comes with a mini-USB-to-RCA video/audio cable. If it is the right one, check a camera shop.
The port on our Kaisers are called mini usb right?
no and yes the sync and charge part is called mini usb
but htc's own connector which also carry audio is called extUsb
look at www.expansys.com for a converter even if all you can get is
an extusb to 3.5minijack then a minijack to rca is pretty easy to get
Or you could get a SonyEricsson MBR-100. It will connect via bluetooth to your Kaiser for audio out and comes with RCA leads as well as giving a 3.5mm output for use with headphones.

Analog audio output on a USB connector is NOT a defined part of the USB specification. As a result implementations of it are manufacturer specific.
95%+ chance the Olympus adapter will not work with HTC devices.
The best bet is likely a ExtUSB-3.5mm + 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter.
Edit: Or an A2DP (Bluetooth stereo) to RCA adapter.
Im just going to go this route: ExtUSB-3.5mm + 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter.
thanks for everyones input!

my search led me to this. if it fits the razr, it should fit a kaiser!

The more i got to thinking, the more i wanted one. so i went on eBay and found one. In a few days i should have a new cable, and i shall tell you how wonderful it is!

Yep, it will fit. But it won't work.

I had a RAZR adapter lying around and tried it with my Kaiser. No go. Had to buy an HTC-specific adapter.
Right, so we all by now know that the ExtUSB connector on the Touch HD does not support audio or video-out. The question I have, therefore, is what's the point of the connector being ExtUSB at all? Apart from data and power, both of which can be done via a standard USB cable and therefore do not need the ExtUSB interface, is there anything else that can be ported through the extra "Ext" pins?
This is not so much a problem, per se, as a general curiosity!
I realy don't mind so much the lack of video on the ext-usb port, but it would have been nice to have audio on that connector so it would provide audio from a docking station/cradle.
I guess we will never know why HTC decided to skip this on their flaghip.

Yeah I agree I don't really have any use for the video output, and I agree that audio-out through the ExtUSB would have been handy for car cradles, I'm merely curious if there's any other additional features of ExtUSB that are still enabled on the HD as it seems to me that the connector is simply a standard mini USB with a couple of extra unconnected pins...
Hiya,
You'll all probably know that on the TouchPro, the HTC mini-USB jack allows headphones to be connected (via adaptor), as well as a 'remote' which answers/ends calls...
...which is excellent, because I was able to develop my own wired connection to my CK-7W car kit.
I would like to do the same for my SEX1, particularly given the unreliable nature of the bluetooth.
Q: Is the mini-USB port configurable to give audio-out, and potentially answer/end calls?
Kind regards,
Oms.

It should be, you can get usb headphones, with a talkbutton, that use a standard mini usb fitting.
the audio for the X1 goes to the 3.5mm jack? There is an answer button on the supplied cable.
I thought the USB port was only for USB and power - am I wrong?
I'm not sure most HTC phone have audio out by USB and Mobile fun has
HTC Multifunction Audio Cable YC A200
HTC TyTN/MDA Vario II 3-in-1 USB Adapter
HTC Multifunction Audio Cable YC A300
in the X1 area,
but can't find anything on the net saying it will work
I really want it to work so i only need to plug one cable in when its in the car phone and audio.
I would love to know if some one has tried them.
I'll let you knoe if i get one
I tried it with my Moto L7 USB headset. Nothing happens.
Sorry
I wish it would work too...
htc devices use the extUSB connector and use the extre pins not in normal miniUSB for these features
pins the normal miniUSB connecter the x1 uses don't have so it can't be don
x1 don't support usbHost so the miniUSb connector only have 2 functions
being connected to an usbHost like a computer
and charging no other functionality is possible for a device which
don't support usbHost
Hi Oms,
I've just came across your post about the wired connection you made from Touch Pro to ck-7w. I would like to make a similar setup for my Touch Diamond2. Could you please post your findings on this matter and connections details?
Hello Blackstoners !
I have mini usb headphone for my stolen Elf
When I insert it in bottom of Blackstone ,
its says :
"The Device doesn't support the USB headset. Please Remove it "
Have any one stock of drivers of headphones mini usb To htc HD ??
thanks
Due to the 3.5mm jack, the usb port probably no longer supports headphones. You may just mess up the usb port settings by changing the usb drivers.

Maybe it is possible:

MOD EDIT
Thread moved to general discussion as not relevent to this forum
blackstone have a miniusb connector
many other htc devices got extusb which is basicly a miniusb connector but
have 2 conectors on the empty side of the connector which transfer audio
there is no way to connect an extusb headset to a miniusb conntor as
there are no connectors the extusb audio connector can tranfer the autio to
Hello Again ,
I dont think Its Impossible!!
I am think that is 100% possible ...
I think its possible , I will try to contact the co0o0okers and we will see
best regards.

no it's not
mini usb pint out is
Pin 1 - VBUS
Pin 2 - D-
Pin 3 - D+
Pin 4 - unconnected
Pin 5 - GND
and this is how extUSB pintout is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=72494&d=1203885397
there are tons of more pins on extusb then miniUSB all of which would connect
to nothing in the phone if one connects an extusb headset
and miniUsb headsets only works with devices which support usb host and is a whole
different thing then extusb only 2 htc devices I know of support usb host and blackstone is not one of them
