does anybody know whether this phone will work to it's full capabilities (3g/HSDPA) in Canada?
Thanks!
Not until HTC releases a North American version with US/Canada 3G bands.
I am in Italy now and Vodaphone has the HTC Magic for sale but i cannot find the 1700mhz on the box anywhere.
I live in the US and need my data 3g to work.
Does the Magic have the same frequency bands as the T-mobile My Touch for 3g?
Nope. You have to get a Google Ion or a MyTouch 3g to get 3G on Tmobile US. The HTC Magic will only work on edge in the US.
Thanks!
That is what i thought i just wanted to make sure. I guess i will just have to wait till it is out in the US.
Thanks
It is official My Touch 3g Pre sales start July 8th on T-Mobile.

I have a question. Which versions of the HTC Magic have 288MB of RAM (aka they are with PVT32A boards) and have European 3G (aka 900/2100)? Do they even exist?
they exist, i've got one
it's from 3-Hutchison Austria and black.
I just got off the phone with the repair guys at HTC and they assured me that the HD2 from USA T-mobile is in fact the T8585. All parts are compatible.
I know alot of people are confused when trying to fix parts. so remember
T8585 = USA HD2 T-Mobile
isn't the T8585 the EU version?
T8585 is NOT the US T-mobile version it is the international one

Yeah, that's why Otterbox makes different size cases for the US version and European version. Cause they're the same. Maybe the repair guy was telling you whatever he wanted to because he didn't really know and didn't want to take the time to look up the facts for you.
The TMOUS HD2 is T8585 and the European HD2 is also the T8585. both are them are the same model #.

all the sites that sell the T8585 state that it is not compatable with t-mobile 3G
because it is
size:
120.5 x 67 x 11 mm
157g
3G
HSDPA 900 / 2100
HSDPA 850 / 2100 - Australian Version (compatable with AT&T)
the T-mobile HD2 is known as the T-mobile HD2, not the T8585
Size:
122 x 67 x 11 mm
157g
3G:
1700/2100 bands- not compatable with AT&T and some European carriers who use 900 band

That's Euro T-Mobile not US T-Mobile
