Buttons... - HD2 General

Hey,
I just realized that the buttons (the 5 buttons at the bottom of the front face) on my Leo are moving a little bit.
It's hard to describe but there is a little gap around them and I can move them up down left right. Is it normal?

Same here on mine, seems to be some kind of manufactoring tolerance.

Yes .. that is normal.

Yes it moves around 1mm around...
and HTC raised the on/off button (rightmost) a little higher (0.1mm) than leftmost ..dont know the reason why..

same for me

Mine are all roughly the same height but the off button is stiffer to press and the home button is really quite soft to press.

Slight annoyance: keyboard slides too easily.

I have had my Orange SPV M3100 for a couple of weeks and I really love it. A great upgrade from the Wizard, which I only loved a little bit less.
But there is something about it that bugs me nearly every time I use it: the two halves of the device become misaligned from each other too easily.
I quite liked having the Power button on top of the Wizard, unlike the Hermes design where the button is on the side. Now, with the Hermes, I hold it in my left hand (thumb on the wheel) and press the Power with my right index finger. Theoretically I am only holding the lower half of the device to do this (the half with the keyboard) but in reality the fleshy part of my thumb pushes the upper half (the screen) to the right nine times out of ten when I press the button.
This drives me up the wall. It seems I'm constantly lining the two halves up like an untidy pack of playing cards
I'm thinking about putting a tiny bit of Blu-Tack or something in the end of the sliding channel under the screen, so that it offers a bit more resistance before the two halves separate.
Anyone else noticed this little annoyance? Or am I just being a bit picky? I didn't have this issue with the Wizard.
I too am a leftie and have the same problems. When I hold it in my right hand it isn't as bad,

The same here. I got my TyTn back from repair this week, also for the sliding (and other things). At first it slided with a littebit more resistance but after a day it is back to where is was: with the "easy slide...
Same thing
Had that same problem. My first TyTN died.... so let's how it goes with this new one. This is not sliding now - it so new.
I'm just a little bit afraid how this thing holds together after a year or two? Please tell how it works with you guys having few months old machine.
Has been loose from the beginning. Always slides about 5mm while turning on
with left hand.
Me too HT638F ...
But I will return it because I want an english version.

Xperia windage in upper sides. Is this normal after 1 month?

HI,
I have problem with the moving part of the X1 rattles, mostly in upper - right side /near Volume button/.
Is this normal?
When phone is closed and I press lightly upped and bottom side of my Xperia - I see that phone clatter. This is mostly in right corner, but nearly the same is also in other left upped corner.
I use my Xperia from one month.
I don't have software problems but i don't know is this normal or I must go to repair?
Thanks

Thanks again
What exactly do you mean by "windage"?

I'm also curious about this, because the only applicable definition of "windage" here would be air friction preventing him from pushing the button down easily, but I highly doubt that this is happening. Maybe he means erosion? I could imagine a way for one to come to a "windage" type of word for describing a similar effect to how wind can erode things.
I think he might be German -there is the word "Verwindung" which means somewhat like deflection in case of twisting. In my opinion he has the problem that when he presses onto to upper right corner the case the lower left corner travels up a little bit which is normal due to the mounting of the slider mechanism.
He means that the moving part of the X1 rattles. I guess that it is a little loose between the screen and the keyboard and when pressing it with its fingers he feels that the screen is moving downwards.
Unfortunately that's the case with mine, it has a very tiny rattle when I press the screen (tiny but I can feel it very easily) which is annoying.
I guess I will have to live with it.
Any other experiences about it?
Yes, I mean the moving part of the X1 rattles. Two parts: bottom part with keyboard and part with display - knocking, when I press them lightly.
I'm sorry for my bad English.
Thanks XavierGr!
When I press some of buttons I feel this move....
Maybe after few months this will be horrible.
Same with my X1. Have it for more than 2 month now and treated it like a raw egg...just wait and see...

If the rattle gets worse we are doomed. This thing will eventually break apart if it continues to rattle more and more.
I hope it stays as it is, it's a bit annoying but I can live with it. Time will tell...

Does you G1 have play on the bottom right crn of screen

Not sure if I have a bad unit. On the bottom of the screen along the bezel, from the middle to the bottom right where the hinge is, if I press like I am tapping the screen, the screen flexes downwards. It actually feels weird when using an on screen keeboard and pressing the bottom row of letters/numbers.
Anyone else have this
Most if not all Dreams are affected by this. It's a flaw of the way the screen hinge is designed. Do a search of the forum for more details.

Few questions about X2

As a fresh owner I have a few questions:
1 - The lower right corner of the front panel wobbles (?), moves slightly on touch, I can press it for about 1mm (see the attached screen). It is especially annoying when pressing OK or dial off (or whatever the button is called). Is it normal?
2 - The screen has a slight green tone (hue), can anything be done with it?
3 - LCD has noticeable light leaking near the bottom side, again, is it normal? (Well, the screen does not work now anyway, gotta flash the phone.)
Thanks

(1) I have no issues with this, seams fine on mine
(2) I cannot notice any hue, maybe you have a faulty unit given the blue colour and the movement of the panel.
(3) Yes LCD light is noticible, I also get leaks through the optical pad when I have the notification LED's on
1. I got some small loose on the front pannel upper area, it's especially felt when You hold the phone in one hand and work with Your thumb pressing the screen or just put the phone to You ear. You feel then the pannel moves a bit down. Maybe thats normal or just the build quality is not so good at all.
sounds like you have a faulty one. mine is solid as a rock. the loose screen and the green hue could be related. there shouldnt be any discolouration at all and i can only see it getting worse to be honest. where did you get it? if its somewhere reputable then id take it back and ask for a decent one while its still in warranty.
i do have tiny bit of light leakage near the buttons, that does seem common.
Mine is well made too, no hardware problems.
I have a silver one, solid as a rock, light leaks are present though...

Side button sensitivity

Just got my Streak the other day and noticed that it's quite difficult for me to get the haptic response from the three side side buttons (return, menu, home), particularly the return menu. I usually can't get a response from a finger tip unless I touch it repeatedly, and I usually need to press down harder than I think I should and with at least a half inch diameter of my finger. Is that normal?
Sounds odd never had that problem I can just tap mine quickly and it picks it up. It could be possibly where your pressing maybe.
Thanks for the reply. Is yours as sensitive as touching the touchscreen? Mine definitely isn't.

This seems to depend on your fingers! (too dry or wet skin?)
Try to let somebody else do the same thing...
You will be surprised.
I did first think maybe your fingers were not conductive enough but as you say the screen is working ok then I reckon your buttons are not working as they should. Contact Dell or your provider?
For reference my screen and side buttons seem to be equally sensitive, in fact I could do with the side buttons being a little less sensitive..
