HD2 Stock ROM 1.48 - HD2 General

Dear all,
I have got my HD2 last week 27th Nov in HK.
And below is the software information obtained form the setting tab.
OS version 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila version 1.0.19211620.0
ROM version 1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE
ROM date 11/09/09 - 9th nov
below the screen capture of these information.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/janyung/4153480752/
So far after few days use, it's a good phone, but the photo seems still suffer from some "pink spot" attack to me.
below photo sample taken by my phone.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/janyung/4153480880/
p.s. not sure if it's cuz the difference on the ROM version, I have been hard reset my phone for about 7-8 times already, i didn't do much on the registry, but it just easily hanged in the boot up page after i installed the tweaks or apps for minor modifications.
2 times hanged and have to hard reset after installed the CF3.7;
1 time hanged and have to hard reset after installed "today clock no flick";
1 time hanged and have to hard reset after installed "action screen power buttem";
1 time hanged and have to hard reset after installed sktools and optimized registry;
and few others that i can't remember what i installed..... but it just hanged before the "hTC quietly brilliant screen"
Anyone suffered from such frequent hard reset after installed those nice tweaks?

your ROM version is a bit wierd. if im not mistaken, your device is asian WWE, in which the latest ROM should be 1.48.707.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05. it seems like your ROM version is higher, but your manila version is lower, and the date is exactly the same as 1.48.702.

will it because of this odd combination that cuz my frequent hang? newer WM, but older manila..... poor me, hard resetted all the time, max is 3 times a day, luckily my company use push email, so i can get my PIM info back by simply setting up the email

Actually your WM version is the same as the official 1.48 Asian WWE release. the differences are the ROM build and manila version. same radio and protocol though. the latest manila should be 2.5.19211619.0, but yours start with 1.0.xxxx

- yes, using 3.5 only now, no need to hard reset for a day now
disable sense and make sure you're running sdkcerts and security disabled before copying it across.
- not dare to alter sense anymore now..... just let it flicks...
which version of action screen? it's old app now...
- I used the leo action screen powerbutton from below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
don't optimize the registry it's not needed and breaks things.
- agreed, only change the font cache using sktools optimized mode

For those who dont know, PDAViet has just released a new BA rom with thse spec : WM6 5.2.1938 (Build 18538.0.7.0.PV.HAT)Touch & Office 6.1 NetCF 3.5.
it has built in TouchFlo, and als the latest .NetCF 3.5 as Extrom...
I also have tried all the WM6 version since Helmi R0 release, Xplode's latest rom and PdaViet's WM6 OS 5.2.2000 (Build 20000.1.0.0.PV.HAT).
All are good, stable and fast.
I tried Xplode's latest rom for only 1 day and switched back toPdaViet's cause I had problems:
1. Somehow, the OK button (on top right hand corner) close apps without saving it (I had this problem when using PocketInformant and PocketBreeze - weird. I put it on forum, but no one else seem to have this issue)
2. I feel that the touch screen is not as responsive as other roms -I dont know, maybe I was wrong...but this is what i feel anyway
For now, I am using PdaViet's latest rom WM6 5.2.1938 (Build 18538.0.7.0.PV.HAT)Touch & Office 6.1 NetCF 3.5.
, and its very good...
hey i hv tested all the three but i hv not found big changes in them and switch back to helmi as i hv the backup of it. all three r same as they r helmi based. so i advised to go for helmi it also has gsfinder as file explorer.
which is the best
I have tried have all three of the latest roms but the ones that are the newest is pdaviets rom with office 6.1 and xplodes. Hemlis wm6 is older than the others so any of the other 2 are better.
It seems that the speed of xplodes and pdaviets are ABOUT the same but i find that pdaviets rom is slightly faster- programs open faster, and there is no stalling. Pdaviets is more stable- when i installed pdaviets 5.2.000 i only soft reset it about once- it works flawlessly. I can open more programs at the same time without stalling and freezing with pdaviets than with xplodes. With a great combination of stability and speed pdaviets takes the cake.
Although i can not use the touch flo cube that comes with pdaviets because of i can not get rid of my older version of touchflo i installed in my BA- for some reason i can not uninstall it or remove it but i hear it works like a charm.

What do you mean you cannot get rid of the older version of touchflo? After reflashing the new rom, whatever you have before will be gone..... just make sure you do the no yes yes option...
And you are rite, touchflo on Pdaviets latest rom works very well...
Just want to say yes, I am using latest rom of PDAViet too, and I love it. All bugs seems fixed. I just don't like the touchflo as I was using HTouch before and it works better (quicker, smoother, no flare, more open to add links...)
ftouch

I installed a previous version of ftouch before the one in pdaviets came out and i installed it on my hemli wm6 rom when it first came out. I did uninstall the program but although the file was removed touch flo was still active on my BA. No matter how many times i have flashed my BA to another rom ftouch is installed on my BA. It is very weird.
I did however find the ftouch program and it is located in my BA "windows" folder under "startup". When i try to delete that it says thats the file can not be deleted. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say " no yes yes" option because everytime i flash a rom it goes to the align screen option. Any help would be appreciated.

the no yes yes option refers to cleaning up the rom i.e. similar to the concept of formating the whole rom data.... you should do this after reflashing a new rom build.
when you reset and you get to the 3 colored screen, press and hold camera + record button for about 2 sec... use record button to choose, camera button to change no/yes... and then press mail button to confirm...
its all in wiki, under the instruction on how to update rom...
I prefer Xplode's latest release...its the fastest one by far, in my experience...can't really fault it at all....I dont like the Touch Flo...it's too slow on the BA...and I don't find it beneficial at all...just a waste of resources.

no probs. I was in your position before.. . This is what this forum is for...
i see by far more people like PDAViet release
could any one provide download link and is there any thing special we have to do to upgrade from helmi WM6 ?
Thanks
Download links are in corresponding threads - THE FIRST POST usually
You should backup your data before flashing, upgrade procedure is the same as for any WM6.
Here is the link to the rom, as posted by Iced Coffee...

Diamond freezes and does hard-reset

Hi,
since yesterday Pocketwit was nog working for me anymore, with netcf 3.7, so i chose to go back a version with another rom, since then problems started to build op.. The major problem is that the phone freezes with a lot of roms, even after hard reset, and when i turn off the device(on top) or soft reset it (with the stylus) it automatically hard-resets and i have to do the first-time-setup etc.. all over again...
what should i do?
for an answer in advance: what kind of rom are you looking for? i would like to say a fast & stable windows mobile 6.1 rom with tf3d2 ... (wm 6.1 because wm 6.5 isn't fast & stable right?!)

You described a known problem. To prevent an automatic hardreset do the following:
1. Install an original Stock-ROM
2. Hardreset
3. Install you preferred ROM
4. Hardreset
Cheers Lycox, I'd actually been having this too this week. I was just suspecting the ROM of being unstable or my own tweaks.
Any stock ROM? And is Radio a factor?

Custom ROM's lagging

I've installed three different custom roms (Dutty, Miri and Touch-IT (Latest versions)) on my HD2 and they all lag.
For example:
- When animating the weather the animation stops for about half a second the moves a bit and stops again.
- When scrolling through the tabs in Sense it also lags at random (no particular tab) and continues after about a second.
It's like this with everything from menu's to emails.
Does anyone know what's causing this, or more important how it can be fixed?
I'm currently running a stock rom:
OS: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD
ROM Date: 01/04/10
Radio: 2.06.51.07
I take it you've done a hard reset after flashing a ROM?
Might be worth going back to a stock ROM and see if that does it too
yes, currently i'm running the stock rom without any problems.
I've just tried installing an older version of duttys and miri without success.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
have you got HSPL on the device?
Look in the MTTY thread. This might help you solve your problem. I also have issues with the new ROMs ( HERE )but unfortunately the MTTY didn't help me.

Yes I have, I have installed over 10 different rom's already. But the problem just keeps coming back.
do you hard reset the phone immediately after flashing? what radio do you use?
from my experience no stock rom can compare with any of the customs i've tried so far.
just make sure when you do Mtty do not flash any official rom, but the custom rom you want to use. because flashing mtty then official rom then custom rom defeats the purpose of having mtty in the first place.
Also there have been a lot of reports with problems due to 16gb cards.
I have tried a hard reset immediately after flashing but that doesnt change anything.
My radio version with the newest roms is: 2.06.51.07
Currently I am using Duttys Leo Multi-Lang 1.8 NLD and the radio version is: 2.06.50.04
I am using the standard 2 GB card that came with the phone. I've also tried without it and without my simcard.

That'sa pity since all the rest is excellent and so stable compare to other ROMs tested so far...
Pham Quang, please help!!!

pdaviet rom was one of the best rom, but i don´t like landscape support
in manila home view it´s ok but in all other views like picture or music it´s not ok
please make a cab to switch landscape support not all people like this
I have deactivated the "automatically adjust backlight" feature, and that might have solved the issue... but need to wait for a day to confirm...
Thanks

[HELP] Need some advise on where to go with my HD2

Hi guys,
Right Ive had my HD2 since the start of the year and due to time/commitments ive not really done a lot with it, now quite simply I have a few applications which I use a fair bit, namely CoPilot ... anyhow Ive seen there is an update on the HTC website to ROM 1.72.206.3 and was looking at starting a fresh with this ROM.
Now before I go ahead and do this, is there a better ROM/Radio combo? my current specs are ...
OS - 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
Manila - 2.5.19202525.0
ROM - 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE
ROMD - 11/06/2009
Radio - 2.04.50.22_2
Protocol - 15.26.50.07U
Currently on a contract with O2 UK ... so really what Im after, if this was your phone what steps would you do? e.g. ROM, Radio and any must do enhancements/installs
Cheers
Mike
Hi Mike,
I have an O2 phone and it also came with 1.43 ROM. I tried the latest 1.72 ROM, it was a bit better but I think half of this is the imagination/expectation that is should be, rather than actually being so (though there are two or three 'genuine' fixes there too).
I have been mostly recommending this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580
It made such a big difference I stopped looking at radio versions and registry tweaks. The S2U2 lock app is quite useful though, once you've customised its settings as desired.
I installed it using SSPL method BTW.
Have you got any issues that make you think "I'm going to bin this thing if it happens again"?
I've not bothered with the upgrade as if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Before anyone *****es, the only issue that is apparent on my device, the SMS lagging, isn't exactly an issue to me. I see it more as a reminder to clear the crap out of the inbox!
