I've installed three different custom roms (Dutty, Miri and Touch-IT (Latest versions)) on my HD2 and they all lag.
For example:
- When animating the weather the animation stops for about half a second the moves a bit and stops again.
- When scrolling through the tabs in Sense it also lags at random (no particular tab) and continues after about a second.
It's like this with everything from menu's to emails.
Does anyone know what's causing this, or more important how it can be fixed?
I'm currently running a stock rom:
OS: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD
ROM Date: 01/04/10
Radio: 2.06.51.07
I take it you've done a hard reset after flashing a ROM?
Might be worth going back to a stock ROM and see if that does it too
yes, currently i'm running the stock rom without any problems.
I've just tried installing an older version of duttys and miri without success.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
have you got HSPL on the device?
Look in the MTTY thread. This might help you solve your problem. I also have issues with the new ROMs ( HERE )but unfortunately the MTTY didn't help me.

Yes I have, I have installed over 10 different rom's already. But the problem just keeps coming back.
do you hard reset the phone immediately after flashing? what radio do you use?
from my experience no stock rom can compare with any of the customs i've tried so far.
just make sure when you do Mtty do not flash any official rom, but the custom rom you want to use. because flashing mtty then official rom then custom rom defeats the purpose of having mtty in the first place.
Also there have been a lot of reports with problems due to 16gb cards.
I have tried a hard reset immediately after flashing but that doesnt change anything.
My radio version with the newest roms is: 2.06.51.07
Currently I am using Duttys Leo Multi-Lang 1.8 NLD and the radio version is: 2.06.50.04
I am using the standard 2 GB card that came with the phone. I've also tried without it and without my simcard.

HD2 ROMS & Radio Combinations: Assist Others With Their Freezing & Hanging Issues
Hey guys,
Thought I'd start up a thread that newbies can refer to if their device is freezing/hanging. I strongly believe that I majority of the issues are linked to ROMS and radio combinations. I noticed previously when my HD2 was having issues, I'd look at the taskbar and see it alternate between G/3G/H icons. I assume that the device was having a spasm and prioritizing system resources into locking onto a signal.
Although I like some of the cooked ROMS (kudos to their hard work), I simply wasn't a fan of their constant branding of their ROMS (splash screens etc), so I started experimenting with some of OEM ROMS and radios to find that perfect combination.
Now I'm on 1.66.405.2(76641)WWE CRC signed with the radio 2.07.51.22_2, all my previous issues have simply disappeared. No more freezing or hanging (I bearly have to touch CleanRAM anymore) and no more instances of blank screen when coming out of standby. Everything is snappy and smooth!!!
So let's help out some of our members by posting what ROM and radio combinations we're using without any issues. It may also serve as a reference for those who flash their devices frequently to what works should they want to upgrade their ROMs.

Perhaps you could follow zebulon2003's setup (updated radio) since he's on 2.10 and not having any issues
Why!

Was just a suggestion to his bluetooth lag issues. If he's not too bothered by it, then stay with what he's got. The purpose of this thread was list what ROM works best with what radio (which bluetooth falls under).

I'm carefully watching radio and bluetooth threads for what will be the easiest and safest answer. In bluetooth threads there are some registry changes that might do the trick. It appears that in radios 2.10 (or 2.11?) might be the fix.
For now I'm adopting a conservative approach as Quig suggests.
Thanks for this thread...and...it prompted me to expand the detail in my signature.
Hi.
I'm really sorry to ask, but i need some info on flashing for the first time.
I've read the tutorials, but i can't get my head around them. I've even watched some youtube videos, which have helped abit in terms of visually showing me what i am meant to be doing.
However, i am still not sure what ROMs i should be using. I know first of all i must HardSPL my HD2 which is ok i understand that bit; this then will allow me to flash my hd2 with custom ROMs & Radios, plus prevent this n00b from bricking the phone.
But this is where the problem lies, i havent once upgraded/flashed or whatever since i got the phone back in November, and i am still running the stock rom 1.43.110.2 (70315) WWE from T-Mobile UK - Radio 2.04.50.22_2 - Protocol 15.26.50.07U
I want to be able to get the increased 512MB of ram, so if i can get a ROM that already has that init, that would be great, also do some ROMs come with Radios configured inside, instead of me having to flash a ROM first then a Radio ?
Lastly should i flash with HSPL or HSPL2 ?? :S
Oh and if i were to flash i would go with one of the three from below (ps which would be best suited to me or be ummm compatible with my current stock rom, i know its trial and error, but which would some of you recommend)
ROM ░ 25.05.10 ░ © ★ Miri & DINIK ★ ™ ░ v.17 ░ WWE ░ 2.13.531 ░ 23569
6.5.5|ROM|WWE| Energy Series 23569/21905 |May 28| (something about t-mobile usa compatiblity in thread :s )
oh and Dutty's Leo Sense 2.5 Holy Grail V.1|WWE||Manila_Core_2_5_20121412_0|
thank you for any (no matter how small) and all help, i sincerely appreciate it.
Ali
most cooks recommend flashing the radio first then rom i use the cleanex rom its not 512mb enabled but its v good and stable also leaves you with around 260+mb after flashing so you may not need the extra wee bit of space.if you are in the uk you want a rom with wwe that should work with no issues hope this helps u a little bit
heyy greg1fraser thanks for the reply. some quick questions.
I wanted to know what should i use to flash my HD2 HSPL or HSPL_2 ?
Then do i just use any Radio to flash my HD2, afterwhich i go about flashing the actual ROM itself.
I want to flash to either Radio 2.07, 2.08 , 2.09 or 2.10 and then can i just flash my current 1.43.110 ROM to the new Miri & DINIK - BASE ROM 2.13.531.1 ???
thanks again for any replies.
if you read the rom thread you are going to flash it will recommend the best radio for it i advise listening to them as it makes a big difference i flashed my phone several months ago just using hspl but i believe hspl2 is a newer better way so i would be inclined to say hspl2,please double check b4 as i dont want you harming your device goto the rom thread and stickies they should help you decide what hspl to use,
once you starting flashing rom v addictive i said ill do it once several hundred times later still doing it

Salaam, I would recommend you start with HSPL 166. as for radio and rom go window shopping you'll be spoilt for choice. any way I'm on Tmo uk aswell and I can say that most radio's work well ie signal etc, oh and yes as Greg said HSPL2 is a better way as it allows you to roll back to stock sspl if you need to send the phone back to Tmo for repaires
ps the 512 ram is just a trick as you can make it show up but you cant use it as its reserved for the system, same case as the processor it does not run at its full 1ghz speed but a lot lower.

that's wrong, all parts of that statement are wrong.
ROM's wise, miri & Dinik and NRG both are enabled for 576mb RAM, just use a radio they recommend in the thread, and the bit bout the us hd2 is that there roms will work on the us hd2 as-well so dont worry about that bit, ok so NRG ROM's are excellent but they have all the extra apps installed, for tweaking rotation, etc, the miri & Dinik ROM is basically a Miri ROM they are fast and close to stock ROM but cleaner and faster, and dinik is in there because he has added all his mods in the rom, if you took the time to look in the rom threads you would see, the thing is no one can recommend a ROM to you as its each to there own, I like most on here have used loads of several ROMs and just chose the one that suits you the most
Hey,
Just wondering if anyones tried running Android on a stock HTC ROM?
I'm thinking of re-flashing the original Windows Mobile ROM and seeing if it will be able to launch Android from SD Card?
I've heard someone say it has been known to work?

I will be tonight when I finish work
Thought i'd ask ahead just in case anything I need to know. I want to have the stock ROM just because everything works on it and battery life is pretty good, but then can have Android to play around on
I am just using Android on my Stock Rom for the last 20 days.
Its working fine but the problem is instability in the Working of Android.
I have tried all the versions with different Radio versions.
Among them the best suit is Shubcraft1.4d the latest one and Radio version 2.11.50.20
I've been running Android on my "original" stock TMOUS ROM for about 3 full weeks now. At first, I ran Android with the stock 2.08 radio for about 4 days. For some reason, I rebooted my device and I was never able to get Android to run successfully again. I kept getting WSOD during boot-up and BSOD when trying to wake from sleep.
Finally, I flashed my radio to 2.12, and I've had absolutely no problems. I've seen many complaining that the stock TMOUS ROM causes problems, but I think it has more to do with radio, zImage, and build combinations than WinMo ROMs.
Good luck
just loaded android on stock 1.48.707.2 rom but with updated radio 2.12 version seemed to work o.k but froze a bit here and there seemed useable apart from the crashes

hmm, think tonight i will reflash to stock rom from HTC and then try radio 2.10 as per person further up, try it with various builds then maybe try radio 2.12... i will post my results within the next several hours
I think there are also differences between TMOUS and our European ROMS. Especially because of the Radios. I thought about Flashing back to complete Stock ROM SPL, etc. That way I could never get any problems with the warranty etc. I will try it when I find time.
I tried on the stock ROM and sadly everytime Android would go through the initial boot it would just display some text in the top left, then stop, then the text would slowly "fade" from bottom right to top left and the backlight of the screen remains lit but the phone hangs with nothing displayed
I've now put on the phone:
Windows Mobile ROM: Elegancia E-CHT ROM
Android Version: Mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense
Radio: 2.11.50.20
I've put a shortcut to CLRAD.exe and HaRAT.exe on my home screen on WinMo. Now I can use Windows Mobile for stability and battery life and working Wi-Fi Tethering etc, but can boot into android for games, apps, smooth interface and most of all, bragging rights(can now ram it into my friends with iPhones faces)
While i'm here now i've changed my set up completely, i'll explain what its like
With this set up, i've found the phone is some wait smoother, the screen still freezes but not for as long as before.
I've found sometimes the interface can sometimes be slightly sluggish but not enough to be a problem
I've called speaking clock and the voice was very clear
Overall very happy and now have the best of Android and the best of Windows Mobile
On my normal WinMo Rom I've used for quite some time now (some weeks before trying the first Android build) everything runs without freezes etc. So far 1 SOD and 2 freezes without a visible reason. And I'm running mainly Android for 5 weeks now. So it seems I was quite lucky to have an Android compatible ROM without having to flash some stripped down ROM. The only thing I'm missing in my ROM are fast boot times but those can be improved by disabling Sense.
I use stock ROM 1.66 ELL but Radio changed to 2.12 (with stock radio didn't work)
I have tried several Android builds and all works as supposed to work.
I have been testing all the Android versions using stock 1.66 WWE (just updated radio) with no problems at all. I have never used a custom WM ROM on my HD2, and have found Android to be on a par with what others have reported. Now running Mattc + Froyo w/Sense 1.6b with no problems so far.
I use stock ROM SVE 1.66 but radio changed to 2.10. I have been testing several builds and they all have worked ok.
The best build for me has been: darkstone HD2Froyo V2.1.
well, i have 1.48 wwe stock rom, never had any issues with any of the android builds...only changed my radio to 2.08.50..
i suggest darkstone's builds..either the hd2froyo or the froyostone series......no issues whatsoever
Yeah maybe it was my combination of radio/build. I'm now using the Mattc Leo Froyo build and the Elegencia ROM and isn't too different from the stock ROM and has most of the apps still installed
No problems running on stock tmoble 1.72 rom just had to update radio to one ending in 50
I’m a newbie at this so apologies if I confuse rather than help.
I bought my HD2 off eBay so don’t know if it’s been flashed or not. I didn’t attempt to flash or change the radio version myself just in case I brick it!! I scared like that
I am currently using ShubCRAFT 1.4d_1GB (hard reset and switched Sense off in WM for quicker boot) and it works perfectly, good battery life and fast .
WM Software details:
OS version: 5.2.2189
Manila version: 2.5.20113626.0
ROM version: Miri HD2 ROM – V4.0 WWE
Radio version: 2.07.50.27_2
To answer your question, and given the above are the standard versions, yes you can run android on ur standard HTC HD2 thanks to the awesome developers.
I am using a windows mobile stock ROM (1.66.405.2) with radio version 2.12.50.02 and mattc leo + froyo w/sense 1.6b Kernel: michyprima 2.6.32.9 #70. I have had no problems with wifi, 3g, sound, or calls. Everything works fine and pretty good battery life and quite stable.

I bucked up the courage to install a new radio after I submitted my post, and in the process realised that it had HardSPL on it already! which one of you sold me your 'touched' HD2!?
So I updated my radio version to 2.12.50.02_2 - yes I'm proud
Hello.
When booting into an Android (2.2) based ROM, everything seems to be working fine. The only problem that I have come in contact with is the audio speed. Music plays too fast, is sped up, etc. I did make sure to click the "clrcad" file before booting into Android.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I'm running the minimal ChuckyDriod WM Rom with 2.12 radio rom and the combo works great for any android build I've tried.
Various stickies have info for flashing roms.

I had the same problem when I first installed android, running Chuckyrom and radio Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2. I swapped the radio to Leo_RADIO_2.10.50.26** and that got rid of the audio problems.
Lately I've installed ChuckyDroid and are now running android without any major hick-ups.
My phone has this issue after i upgrade to the official Rom 3.14.531.1.
It just can't unlock anymore. Maybe if i try to slide 100 times, it will respond once.
Any one has the same issue?
The phone set up is like this:
OS: 5.2.21913
Manila version:
2.5.20181424.0
thanks
nope. i never had that issue when i upgraded to the official rom 3.14. maybe its a program that you install thats causing it to not respond. another question: What exactly are you trying to slide the stock manila slide to unlock or S2US?
bet you left hspl installed?

Mine is HSPL and it's fine. Why would that cause a problem? I thought once you were HSPL that you can flash any rom and it will leave your firmware and HSPL in tact?
the 3.14 roms have issues when the spl isn't 3.03. At least they do on the regular hd2/3.14 roms. sluggish phone, freezing. ALso the regular hd2 shows only 50 meg free ram, ,

So you are saying if someone is on the original HSPL that they might have issues, but if they were on HSPL3, it's fine? What about running HSPL3 after installing 3.14 with a stock SPL?
