Its pretty straight forward, but I have recently received a bunch of mesages from people asking mehow it's done, so I figured I'd make a quick post.
Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names>
From there select the default APN probably simply titled Android
From here we plug in the settings that we would with Windows Mobile:
Name: Cricket
APN: Cricket Mobile Web
Proxy: wap.mycricket.com
Port: 8080
Username:[email protected]
Password: cricket
Menu>Save
Then stop and restart the modem.
Everything else I left as is. This will get data running but WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO ACTIVATE YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT. This has to do with the proxy set. If you know a way around it, or further settings to change please make me aware so I can update.
I have not tested any MMS settings.
I'm sure this will work for any phone, but I have only tested on Vogue - so I place it here in the Vogue forum.

Hello all,
I thought that it would be good to share this with the rest of the world.
I'm using the HTC Magic on fido, and for the longest time I had trouble finding working fido MMS APN settings. Most of what I could find via a google search referenced just setting up one APN, quoted various proxies, server addresses - let's just say a lot of contradicting information.
Finally - I did a quick search about the APN Type (the last field in the APN setup screen). I solved my MMS worries by setting up two APNs with different types.
So without further delay, here's the good stuff.
APN1 [this one will have the radio button beside it]
Name: fido internet
APN: internet.fido.ca
Username: fido
Password: fido
APN Type: default
(all other fields blank)
APN2 [this one will not have any radio button beside it]
Name: fido mms
APN: mms.fido.ca
MMSC: http://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.011.013
APN Type: mms
(all other fields blank)
Hope this helps!
(Sorry if someone already posted this.)
thanks i needed this

PERFECT! I had the internet settings but not mms. other sites are giving incorrect mms settings for Fido, But U R DA MAN!
Data plan blocked?
Is it possible Fido applied the data plan shutdown to unlocked phone owners too? See article “Rogers Canada forces Android update that takes away root access” on boingboing.net.
I had good 3G bandwidth in the morning and no more connection in the afternoon. Still offline
Anyone else experiencing the same troubles?
They might have changed the APN credentials...
I recently got my sister's Rogers Dream ... NOT unlocked or anything...and i have the old sim from about 5 years ago....(don't know if that is the reason)
but these FIDO APN settings are not working for me!

Hey do you still have this problem? Because I do and I'd like to fix it. Do you think that Rogers ban extends to Fido customers as well (since they use the same network)?
This may help you to solve the problem.
Figured it out today thanks to all the other information here.
Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Acces Point Names
Create a new one for each:
Internet
Name: Fido Internet
APN: internet.fido.ca
Proxy: 205.151.11.11
Username: fido
Password: fido
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
MMS
Name: Fido MMS
APN: mms.fido.ca
MMSC: htp://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
MMS Port: 8080 (still needs to be confirmed, I didn't want to test too much without unlimited MMS)
Username: fido
Password: fido
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
APN Type: mms
So far it works!
These settings worked awesome for me. I have a Rogers Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. I unlocked it to use on Fido's network. At first, my voice worked fine, but no data. These APN settings now have my data working. Thank you so much for posting this!
I'm using these settings on an unlocked Atrix and no luck at all. How long does it usually take for these settings to work?

I have an rooted and unlocked Telus Desire HD. The settings worked but very ofter I get an connection error and it no longer connects. Anyone having the same issues?
Fido / Motorola XT860 (Bell)
Thanks so much for this tread.
Most of the informations was PERFECT for me.
Thanks again
works great. been using those settings for a while. Great job
As soon as I got my Hero and put my AT&T SIM in, everything worked. But, I noticed when someone sent me MMS, It showed up inside a text message with a "Download" bubble that I had to click on to load the picture/video. Are my APN settings wrong ? Is there a way to just get the message to show up ?
also I've noticed I need to have data (mobile network, NOT wifi) on for it to download the picture/video.
For MMS i think you do need to be on your mobile network yes, wi-fi wont work.
Sounds like you need to go to your MMS settings and check the option to auto-download MMS if you dont want to do it manually each time. You'll know its working becuase when you get an MMS in messages youll be given a small icon preview and clicking on it will open in in gallery.
thank you for responding. I already have "auto retrieve" selected
do I need to have two APNs in my settings (one for Edge, one for MMS) ?
I'm with orange and i have different APNs for the internet and for MMS. I'd check with T-Mobile on that one. Maybe give customer services a call?

(I think he means check with AT&T.)
I had similar issues with Telus, but even when I fixed my APN there was still something wrong on their end, so I had to make a call to them and they fixed it for me.
I have AT&T and only set up 1 APN and I get a "download" button, but it seems like it's already downloaded because the second I click "download" it's already loaded up. When you say "download bubble" do you mean you click on the bubble and then it sits there downloading the picture and it shows up a few seconds later? Or are you looking for a way to automatically show the image within the text convo? Because I don't think that last one is possible.
also
I have been flashing ROMs like crazy, trying to find the best one to suit my needs, and at one point, on some ROM (can't remember which), MMS would just download automatically and show up on the screen. no download button or anything.
Hoping I can find out which one it was, and what the settings were for MMS, and get that working again.
Will post if I find out.
rpimps: could you detail your APN settings here so I could try that ?
for the MMS proxy, should I use
wireless.cingular.com
or
66.209.11.32
also should the port be set to "80" or "8080"
found conflicting answers on these two areas

thanks for the help
Hi all , i've just begun my freshman year in seattle. And i'm originally from Singapore.
I've been using the HTC Desire since it came out. However , when i signed up for a plan with AT&T. While i can use regular services such as texting and calling.
For some reason , i am unable to use any form of data service ( checking emails , using data connection required apps , etc ) , the staff at the shop helped me to put in the settings required. But even then it doesnt work.
They called both their supervisor at tech support and also the local HTC supervisor and both were clueless as to why.
A theory was that because my phone was bought in Singapore and hence its unlocked by default , it can't access the data service of AT&T??
I honestly dont believe that to be the case , but unfortunately i'm just as clueless as to why it cant work. I can use wi fi spots just fine too.
Anyone can offer me advice or help? much thanks!!

Is this suitable for use on the HTC-HD2 on AT&T?
when i try to run android on my HD2 it wont get 3G or any type of data. just wondering if i can get it to work or if it works with just wifi? please help. thanks!!
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you'll probably get a solution faster if you use the search function at the top of the page or post this question in the Android development section. Maybe even in the specific rom's thread. Good luck!
I'll answer it. Its pretty easy. Go into the settings area. Select WIRELESS & NETWORKS. Next select Mobile Networks (the second one). Select Access Point Names. If you don't see anything you'll need to add one. Press the WINDOWS KEY on the keypad and NEW APN.
Here are the general settings;
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.t-mobile.com
Proxy : not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: not set
MMS Port: not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type:
default, supl, mms
PRESS THE WINDOWS KEY AGAIN and SAVE!
Should take immediately, if it doesn't check your settings again. Works fine with TMOBILE US.
I had to go back into apn after I saved the info and click/check the newly entered apn

Basically I am an indirect sales agent for AT&T. I have been carrying the Inspire for almost 2 weeks now and my AT&T rep is telling me that they don't have an internet package set up for ANR lines for the 4G so I basically have to use WiFi. I am leaving for New York tomorrow and would really like my internet to work.
I was just wondering if anyone here was an indirect agent with an ANR line and your internet is working. If so can you tell me what code is on your plan? TIA
They dont have 4g soc codes for ANR yet. You need to add a custom APN to get DATA. Make sure you get your IMEI onto your account as well.....customer care will do this, if someone refuses because you are ANR, hang out and try again
Go to
Settings->Networks-> scroll down and tap mobile network settings -> hit Access point names (or APN for short). The 2 APNs you see now only allow data through the 4g soc, so we have to make our own.
hit the menu button and "new apn"
type the following in the different options:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
mms protocol: wap 2.0
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
hit the menu button again and hit save. As soon as you connect to the new APN, the check mark under the H+ symbol will turn to up and down arrows.
If you want to revert back to normal settings and delete the APN, go to the APNs list, press menu, and hit "Reset to defaults"
Thanks
Thanks! Works perfect!
