Can't connect to AT&T Data services. - Networking

Hi all , i've just begun my freshman year in seattle. And i'm originally from Singapore.
I've been using the HTC Desire since it came out. However , when i signed up for a plan with AT&T. While i can use regular services such as texting and calling.
For some reason , i am unable to use any form of data service ( checking emails , using data connection required apps , etc ) , the staff at the shop helped me to put in the settings required. But even then it doesnt work.
They called both their supervisor at tech support and also the local HTC supervisor and both were clueless as to why.
A theory was that because my phone was bought in Singapore and hence its unlocked by default , it can't access the data service of AT&T??
I honestly dont believe that to be the case , but unfortunately i'm just as clueless as to why it cant work. I can use wi fi spots just fine too.
Anyone can offer me advice or help? much thanks!!

APN AT&T Settings
Try these settings:
Menu button > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Menu Button > New APN

Password:CINGULAR1

MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80

when done "Menu Button" then "Save APN"

all right , thanks man , i'll give that a try. need to head down to the shop to reactivate the data service first before i can confirm if it works.
btw , does is it case specific? or does the capitals and small letters not matter?

MMS fix! Sort of.

Try this if you are having MMS "resizing problems on tmobile. These settings are in Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks ->Access Point Names -> T-mobile US. I was missing some of these settings. I have my MMS working by using these settings and ChompSMS.
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: none
Password: ****
Server: *
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC:260
Authentication Type: Not set
APN Type: not set
That is the whole list at the very top I left out Name: T-Mobile US
Make sure all of these settings are right then do a soft reset, power down and a battery pull, wait 10 seconds replace battery power on. If that doesnt work I would do a factory reset, then check the settings to make sure they match the above.
If that doesnt work I would call HTC and ask them to send you a new unit. Mine works fine now. I did do a factory reset the other day to get my picasa albums to sync. I didnt have a picasa account when i first set up the phone so it didnt sync. The factory reset did it though!

How to android mms

Trying to get a thread going for working apn settings to send and receive mms
Please everyone post you working apn settings for you network an location
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
I'll start with Vodafone UK
You need to create two APN’s one for connection to the internet and one for the MMS.
Go to settings>mobile networks> access point names and Click Menu then “New APN”
Enter the following to be able to use the internet on vodafone:
Name: Vodafone Default
APN: internet
APN type:default
The MCC and MNC will be filled in automatacly if you have your simcard inserted in the phone. Mine were set to 234 and 15.
Leave all other settings blank and select menu and SAVE.
You now need to create another APN just like above but for the MMS:
Click menu and ‘New Apn’ and enter these settings
Name: Vodafone MMS
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.012 (yes its a 0 in front of the 12)
MMS Port: 8799
APN type: mms
click menu and save.
IMPORTANT : YOU MUST restart your phone for settings to work

No Internet

I am on a T-Mobile contract, most connections seem to work okay but my Browser goes nowhere, just keep getting page unavailable, even for Google.co.uk
Any links in twitter or emails just fall down as well...
Can anyone part some advice on the settings to cure this, thanks in advance.
I had the same problem, although I am on O2 in the UK (not T-Mobile like you).
I found that the APN details used when the phone automatically sets up the O2 connection were incorrect.
i recommend you Google the correct settings and then set up a new APN (do not overwrite your existing one), then set the new one to be default and try again.
You might have to kill your browser (or restart your phone) for the changes to take effect.
This link talks you through the procedure but you will need to substitute the correct APN values for TMobile... http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device.jsp?deviceId=651&tab=8&step=2&settingId=3203 the web page is for the original Desire but the process is the same for the Desire HD
I had the same problem last week. Apparently TMob's settings sometimes disappear. You need to re add the APN, the following should take you through it (note that all of the <dot>s below need to be replaced with . and <colon slash slash> with ://):
Menu

Wireless and Networks
Mobile Networks
Access Point Names
'Menu' button
New APN

There should be a black screen, you then press the Menu button at the bottom of the screen (as in Home, Menu, Back and Search).

Yes I understand that, but when i press the menu button to setup a new APN nothing happens, I have restarted it and it still does the same thing.
Odd.
It worked for me. Sorry about that.
Got it, I had the option to select predefined networks...
Mobile World
Talk Talk Mobile
Utility Warehouse
Virgin Mobile
So I selected Mobile World, pressed the 'menu' button and then I had the option to create a new APN, entered your setting and all works fine now, thanks for your help.

How can i get the market place terms of service to stop giving me errors? use wifi?
The password is "tm" without the quotes. I don't know who gave you those settings but they're crazy. There's a page on the support site that gives you the settings to use manually. Go to this link, click on the Manual Settings button and you'll see.

i got it working by connecting to wifi, so, wont it work over 3G?
Out of interest, do you have the 3G/H symbol and all looks fine, but nothing actually loads? I've had that a bit this week, very annoying.
Checking these settings -

Perhaps accessing the Google Market is through a particular port that is not supported/allowed by your 3G provider.
For example I was recently in the UK and purchased a prepaid Vodafone SIM. I later found out that sending email through POP was not allowed by Voda.

[Q] Anyone here an indirect agent for AT&T carrying the Atrix on an ANR line?

Basically I am an indirect sales agent for AT&T. I have been carrying the Inspire for almost 2 weeks now and my AT&T rep is telling me that they don't have an internet package set up for ANR lines for the 4G so I basically have to use WiFi. I am leaving for New York tomorrow and would really like my internet to work.
I was just wondering if anyone here was an indirect agent with an ANR line and your internet is working. If so can you tell me what code is on your plan? TIA
They dont have 4g soc codes for ANR yet. You need to add a custom APN to get DATA. Make sure you get your IMEI onto your account as well.....customer care will do this, if someone refuses because you are ANR, hang out and try again
Go to
Settings->Networks-> scroll down and tap mobile network settings -> hit Access point names (or APN for short). The 2 APNs you see now only allow data through the 4g soc, so we have to make our own.
hit the menu button and "new apn"
type the following in the different options:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
mms protocol: wap 2.0
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
hit the menu button again and hit save. As soon as you connect to the new APN, the check mark under the H+ symbol will turn to up and down arrows.
If you want to revert back to normal settings and delete the APN, go to the APNs list, press menu, and hit "Reset to defaults"
Thanks
Thanks! Works perfect!

Hd2 android wifi hotspot

I'm amazed that I'm a walking wifi spot I was wondering what instruments on this cell phone allows this to happen? Also on the software level too. Also is there anyway to get a front facing camera on this device yet? If not, any ideas I used to browse this forum on a daily basis when nand first came out but have ben up to other things. I know this device is great since it can switch to ashitload of other operating systems. I love hd2 I've had this phone for a year now and still loving it.

Getting a front faced camera would not be possible because it was never built into the phone to start with. It would be nice though!

I did what you recommend but still doesn't work. I have swap the phone fully with Task29 reinstall the android but still the same problem. Really i don't know what shall i do.
Anyway the protocoll WAP 2.0 i just didnt found.
I had the exact same problem, couldn't get a data connection on the O2 Pay & Go SIM, but here's how I fixed it.
1. Press the menu button > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Acces Point Names
2. Press the menu button > New APN
3. Enter the following settings:
Name - O2 Pay & Go
APN - payandgo.o2.co.uk
Proxy - 193.113.200.195
Port - 8080
Username - payandgo
Password - password
Server - (Leave this blank, it should say "<Not set>")
MMSC - ht tp://m msc.mms.o2.co.uk (Take out the spaces, the spam filter prevents me from posting urls)
MMS proxy - 193.113.200.195
MMS port - 8080
MCC - (This should by default be set to "234", if it's not, set it to "234")
MNC - (This should by default be set to "10", if it's not, set it to "10")
Authentication type - PAP
APN type - Internet, MMS
APN protocall - (This should by default be set to "IPv4", if it's not, set it to "IPv4")
4. Press the menu button > Save
5. When you reach the previous menu (Acces Point Names), find the APN you just set up (O2 Pay & Go), and select it.
6. Wait a bit, and your connection should start to work
I got this information from an O2 Customer Support email (PM me and I can forward it to you), and it worked on my device, an HD2 running Typhoon's CM7, with an O2 Pay & Go SIM.

Thanks but i have received on this week 5 email from the o2 support department.
I have had this settings. Anyway i have got the solution for my problem. The problem was so banal: i have had an GPS bar!?!? on my account wich was blocking the acces to the o2 internet service. An o2 guru took off this from my account by online. It was just one clicking him but i was just suffering a whole week with this problem. I was at least 4 different o2 shop nobody could recognize this problem...
Really i don't know how could happend this but now the internet acces working fine on my android OS.
Well, that's good that you got it fixed.
