Hello, Recently in Singapore Sense has been released in an official update for the Magic. I am a Diamond user, but i'm trying to help my sister install this update on her phone.
The RUU needs HTC Sync to be running and connected to the Magic, but the Magic is not detecting HTC Sync. I have reinstalled and restarted my computer countless times on THREE different systems.
I've tried this on THREE different computers and it has worked on NONE of them.
I am EXTREMELY frustrated. Can anyone help me?
my problem was a little different from yours, everytime i connected my rogers magic to the computer and it tried to connect to HTC sync it restarted all the time, i did some research and a hard reset was suggested and that worked for me so maybe u can try that.........

Hi, just plug in your magic to the PC, then run the driverXP update (you can get the driverXP update from here http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=267&cat=3&dl_id=573, just scroll down and choose the XP driver), after that SYNC it and your PC should recognize your magic
I have a problem which looks connected but I can't be sure.
I just upgraded to the official 1.5 ROM this morning and now when i plug my usb cable, the phone is charging, but nothing else is happening. I don't get the usual 2 notifications for synching and mounting the sd card...
I tried rebooting the phone once, No luck. Could there be another thing to do?
The update XP stuff didn't do anything since it looks like the problem is on the phone side...

Any solutions? my computer will recognize at first but then it says not connected and wont let me acess the files on my wing. Im using Windows Vista btw.

I am using vista also.. try soft reseting it.
I tried soft resetting it and hard resetting it and it still doesn't work. Now I'm contemplating ever getting Touch It 2.3
Try going in settings->connections->usb to pc and either check it if its not checked or uncheck it if it is checked
Mine did this too last week. Reflash your phone with the official Tmobile RUU posted in the forum.
My steps were:
-Go into bootloader mannually (camera button plus voice command button and finally with those two press, click in the hole (between memory and volume key) with your styles)
-After it seems that pc loaded up some kind of driver, double click on the official Tmobile RUU and flash your phone to stock form.
this should work and goodluck...
I've connected my Wing on my friend's computer and it's recognized by his ActiveSync but its Windows XP he's using. Is there any way i can reinstall or change some settings on my computer so that it can recognize my Wing again? I really prefer the windows xp activesync over the windows vista version but theres no way of getting the old activesync on vista.
Finally!! I fixed the problem! I had to install version 6.1 from microsoft's website, and everything is good now. thanks for the help everybody.

Check to see if there are existing drivers. If there are, uninstall them with the phone unplugged then plug the phone back in.

You need an HTC based ROM with HTC Sync included.

I can't use HTC sync between my pc and my legend, i can't transfer any files between them either, the only thing i can do when i connect it to my PC, is to recharge it..
My PC says that it cannot install any drivers, and i have tried to install them manually, but without any luck.
What should i do ?

What OS and version are you using for starters (i.e. Windows XP, Vista, 7 etc)
And not last, what ROM do you have? Stock HTC or a cooked one?

I suddenly had a problem where my Legend would charge over USB but there was no indication on the phone that sync was available.
I tried a bunch of different roms. Even going so far as to revert to a stock ROM.
Nothing worked. I ended up putting it in as a warranty return for repair.
One strange thing was it would still connect in Fastboot and recovery, give that a try. If so, you have the same strange problem I had.

I think that i may have the same problem as you, though i can charge it through the computer. But i can't access my SD card and i can't use HTC sync

I tried to root my Magic however it has perfected SPL 1.76.2008 so I tried the goldcard method but I only managed to change the firmware from 1.6 to 1.5. I cannot use fastboot so now I'm trying to install a new RUU so that I can follow the steps to install CM however I get the USB error (on windows 7).
I already tried reinstalling the latest HTC Sync and that seems to recognise my phone but when I open the Setup for RUU, Sync doesnt recognise it anymore until I close setup and replug USB. And yes, I inserted the goldcard already. Any help is appreciated.
I have pretty much the same problem here, but I do not have a goldcard (which I dont thing its necessary). When I try to transfer some file to my phone, it starts and after a couple of seconds, unplug from storage mode (Robot turns green again :[ ).
I have Cyanogenmod 6.1.0-DS and Windows 7 32bit.
Even over wifi, this happens. Seems to me thats some storage problem with the rom, but cyanogenmod is widely used and tested.
Can someone help us?

On linux now and had forgotten this. Reread everything from the beginning and recalled that I've had issues with the drivers from HTC Sync driver not working when I had downgraded my G1.
The "official" google sdk driver covers all builds and modes (RUU uses adb mode.) Maybe try reinstalling with them instead?

So, i have been looking for solution to my problem.
I have HD2 and wp7 on it. Yesterday i wanted to change it to android. So i uninstalled wp7 and downloaded one rom from xda. Everything went well, until it reported a problem. There wasn't usb connection. I tryed to install it a few times, but everytime the same problem.
Then i tried to install wp7 and wp6.5 and android. ROM's i downloaded from here. Everytime it report usb connection problem.
Now i cant to anything, and i cant install any rom, i cant install any radios, hspl etc. .. What i should do now, that i get it to work? Please, i need my phone. And sorry for my bad english, ask if you dont understand something
I've tried everything, i just run HD2 toolkit (task 29) but it also says that there are connection problem.
So i think the most serious problem is, that i have usb connection problems, how i can fix that?
Have you tried all your USB ports, or have you tried another USB cable.?
You could try installing WMDC or Activesync to PC just in case it a PC driver issue !
Yes i have tried all ports and 2 cables. I will try now active-sync.

Hmm, i think the problem is in phone, because yesterday, before i uninstalled wp7 the usb connection worked. Then i uninstalled wp7 and i installed also something new to phone (radio or something?).
So, is there any way to uninstall the broken 'file', or way to install new one, without usb-connection

No it is not because you flashed a different radio. The radio is software that is used for your data connection, cellular connection, blutooth, WiFi, and camera. Plus if the radio was "broken" your HD2 would be hard bricked. If you used your computer to install a radio recently then that means that either your drivers have gotten screwed up or your USB cable is damaged and can not be used to transfer data anymore.
I used my computer to install the radio, and i have tried to delete drivers. And if I remember correctly, the radio installation went stuck, but the whole radio-system was ok, because i used it when i had wp7. Can i install new radio from sd-card or something? Please everyone help me !
Edit: I forgot to tell that i can go to bootloader, and it shows me the USB mode. Will this help any?

Try another PC/Notebook & try re-installing WMDC ...
You could also look at flashing a radio & WM6.5 via SD card method ...
