myTouch 3G Newb Question... - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I've been searching all around for this answer...
I'm wanting to root and flash my UNLOCKED myTouch 3G, but I'm wondering if the phone will still be unlocked and work on any carrier? Will doing this lock the phone back to T-Mobile?
I'd be trying the 1 Click Root thing and I guess you have to go back to 1.5? Just want to make sure so I wouldn't risk having to lose my service and buy a code...
Thanks!

Yes, the phone will still be unlocked.

Rooting RC33 with SIM Unlock?

Hi,
I currently have a SIM Unlocked G1 on the Rogers network in Canada, and I want to root it to install unsigned apps. I've seen tutorials all over the place for rooting a G1, but what I want to know is if I will lose my SIM unlock or not. I already had a close call when I did a factory reset, but a little bit of quick thinking on my part fixed that problem.
I just wanted to find out before I go and have to spend another $20-$30 for another code.
Thanks in advance!

The answer is 'no'. If this wasn't self-evident to begin with (and/or you were too disinclined to use the Search function) then I suggest you NOT root.

What the heck is an "unsigned" app that you couldn't install without root? I have not heard of such a thing.

re-lock the phone for warranty

With the galaxy s, I was able to re-lock the phone when I had to send it in for repair. I need to know if I am able to do that with the atrix, because should I need to send it in, I definitely don't want my warranty being voided. Anyone know if this is possible, once unlocked?
thanks
Are you referring to root not unlocking the bootloader? If so, yes, you can unroot. Push the unroot button on superoneclick. Rooting does not void the warranty though.
no, referring to unlocking the phone so I can used it on another carrier

They wouldn't care about that don't worry.
How did you manage to relock the Galaxy S? For any GSM device once it's unlocked it can't be re-locked.

one of the geniuses on xda came up with a way to pull the unlock code off the phone. so i was able to go back and forth.
I've talked to some Bell reps before though, and they said that they wouldn't take the phone back if it's unlocked. I'm trying to buy it from Bell, and run it on Rogers

Well I remember that to unlock the Samsung you had to have root because the code was hidden inside the phone. The atrix is different you will have to get the code from somewhere (bell or buy it) Then put it in and its unlocked. I had the milestone it was on Telus and I unlocked it to work on Rogers Im going to be doing the same to the atrix.

its a very simple process
Heh... I returned one of my old Captivates to the AT&T warranty reps with a custom rom on it... he poked through the settings and if he DID notice... he didn't say anything. So I'm not really sure where their limits lie.
I was just looking on these forums for this.. so no possiblity i assume?
Appreantly bell has issues a warning not to accept atrix that are unlock to be returned.

[Q] rooted with CM7 rom = unlocked?

hello. I have a mytouch 4g and i have rooted it and put CM7 nightly on it, does that mean my phone is also unlocked so i can use another carrier on it? i have been trying to do a search on this but i cant find a clear answer. thanks in advance
What method of root did you use? As far as I know the only one that unlocks is this one, it's what I used..

SIM unlocking is done with the step that involves 'gfree'.
gfree is a utility that unlocks your SIM and CID set to 111111. In other words, unlocked. If you ran this program then you are sim unlocked if it said SUCCESS or COMPLETE or whatever it says. If that step said fail, make sure you do it right and try again, but thats the one that unlocks it.

I have a Verizon s5 rooted using it with net 10 in the states just fine. I have some issues with not being able to get data to turn off on the custom roms. It should work with tmo, though I really couldn't tell you if you would be able to keep 4g.

You ca keep 4G only if the area has a good reception afterall t mo uses Band 4 which luckily gs5 verizon supports, for the hotspot youll need to use foxify free on google playstore or since your rooted get the latest stock update from the general section ill suggest you use the OD5 by @muniz_ri http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...w-to-update-to-g900vod5-5-0-keeproot-t3136945 dowload that rom and flash the tether fix zip

I posted this a little while back if you get root give it a try. You can put T-mobile roms on the verizon s5.

Verizon HTC 10 to use on T-Mobile

I'm been trying to read up on if I can flash a tmobile ruu to convert it to a tmobile version. I just can't find a definitive answer of if it will work and if it would be like having a tmobile variance or if it will mess up the radio or something
Also is anyone using the Verizon variance on tmobile on stock? And have you been getting delayed calls and messages?
I'm trying too... I'll be watching
Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk
I am wondering if this is possible also. As this as Verizon coverage is in my area, it sucks at my home and when my friend came over with his T-Mobile Nexus 6P he had full bars.
Well I guess no one has done it yet as we haven't got any answers

It might work, but it's also a risk and as you said there aren't many reports of such conversions. Read the first reply here about flashing non VZW software on VZW phones:

You can however flash the U.S Unlocked RUU, provided you're s-off. I've done that myself.
Okay so I can just change Cid, flash the unlocked US ruu, with radio img and all? Does wifi calling work for you? If you can, can you do a step by step? Just wanna make sure I have everything in order

Yes, changing CID (need S-off) and running the RUU is the jist of it. Need to back up everything first if course.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-how-to-drand-convert-htc-10-to-t3374593
I'm not using the phone on VZW network so I can't tell you about Wi-Fi calling, but I don't think it will work.
I'm trying to use it in tmobile so as long as everything works for tmobile then it's cool
