Hey guys hope this is the right thread for this. I have a verizon s5 thats unlocked using tmobile sim card. Im in the states.... so question is if I root this put whatever rom on it will it cause any issues?? Ive read a lot of conflicting info so im not sure what to do. I loose 4g lte quite a bit and cant use it as a hotspot for my tablet.

I have a Verizon s5 rooted using it with net 10 in the states just fine. I have some issues with not being able to get data to turn off on the custom roms. It should work with tmo, though I really couldn't tell you if you would be able to keep 4g.

You ca keep 4G only if the area has a good reception afterall t mo uses Band 4 which luckily gs5 verizon supports, for the hotspot youll need to use foxify free on google playstore or since your rooted get the latest stock update from the general section ill suggest you use the OD5 by @muniz_ri http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...w-to-update-to-g900vod5-5-0-keeproot-t3136945 dowload that rom and flash the tether fix zip

I posted this a little while back if you get root give it a try. You can put T-mobile roms on the verizon s5.

Hey guys. I just bought a Verizon S7 Edge today and I've read online I can convert it to a full T-Mobile version with wifi calling, get updates, etc. Is there a guide to do this anywhere? I searched, but couldn't find it.
I wouldnt recoomend it. Once you flash the T-Mobile rom, you cannot go back to Verizon due to different bootloader versions, which means you will lose your warranty.

Wouldn't you be able to flash back to Verizon after? I'd like the wifi calling and upcoming updates for better lte speeds on T-Mobile.

No you will not be able to flash back to Verizon because T-Mobile is on bootloader v3 and Verizon is on v2. You cannot go down versions. It's entirely possible, in fact it's exactly what I did but I do regret the move. I would recommend flashing the U firmware which is the US unlocked version of the s7e. That will unlock pretty much all of the bands and you should be able to get wifi calling and you can flash back to Verizon.

Thanks, do you think the u firmware will get the updates for the 4x4 mimi etc that are coming to T-Mobile shortly for faster speeds? Also, is it possible Verizon will eventually go to a v3 bootloader and thus be able to flash back again? Do you have a link to the guide to be able to flash the U firmware?

Yes 4x4 mimo should be twice as fast as Tmobile. There's a chance that Verizon and U will be updated to bl3 but there's no way to know. Honestly I would flash U and stick with it.

Fair point. Just know that if you do this, you cannot go back and it will void warranty. If you want to do it, just download the tmobile version firmware, download odin from that post that I linked to and flash using the instructions from the post.

No. It won't. 1 S7 has had issue and the story had very little details. Also, almost 30 of the 92 Note 7 issues reported in the states turns out to be bs.

Where do I turn on wifi calling? I couldn't find it in the settings.
-edit- Nevermind, I turned off the phone, put my sim card in, and restarted and it popped up. It wasn't showing up due to the fact I put the sim card in while the phone was on I guess.

Hii,
Sorry for the questions, but it would be really nice if you could help me.
I recently got a s7 edge verizon model as it was way cheaper. I wanted your inputs on flashing either the unlocked or tmobile version. i understand that U version is better as there is chance to revert to verizon ROM.
Sorry i do not know certain basic things.
Does verizon model have all bands and just verizon did not open them up??
Do u get all bands on U version that tmobile uses once you flash with U-version
Can u get tmobile wifi calling HD voice features on the U-version
Any other advantages and disadvantages of either version?
other than the bootloader v2 vs v3.
will i get get updates with tmobile and what about samsung pay and android pay?
will samsung pay and android pay work on flashed Unlocked ROMS, i do not intend on rooting the phone.
If i flash the tmobile version will it be tmobile sim locked ??

I'm been trying to read up on if I can flash a tmobile ruu to convert it to a tmobile version. I just can't find a definitive answer of if it will work and if it would be like having a tmobile variance or if it will mess up the radio or something
Also is anyone using the Verizon variance on tmobile on stock? And have you been getting delayed calls and messages?
I'm trying too... I'll be watching

I am wondering if this is possible also. As this as Verizon coverage is in my area, it sucks at my home and when my friend came over with his T-Mobile Nexus 6P he had full bars.
Well I guess no one has done it yet as we haven't got any answers

It might work, but it's also a risk and as you said there aren't many reports of such conversions. Read the first reply here about flashing non VZW software on VZW phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-10/help/looking-straight-forward-answer-verizon-t3447959
You can however flash the U.S Unlocked RUU, provided you're s-off. I've done that myself.
Okay so I can just change Cid, flash the unlocked US ruu, with radio img and all? Does wifi calling work for you? If you can, can you do a step by step? Just wanna make sure I have everything in order

Yes, changing CID (need S-off) and running the RUU is the jist of it. Need to back up everything first if course.

I'm not using the phone on VZW network so I can't tell you about Wi-Fi calling, but I don't think it will work.
I'm trying to use it in tmobile so as long as everything works for tmobile then it's cool
I have a used note 4. The note 4 is from t-mobile, running Android 6.0.1, SM-910T....98% of rooting methods just brick the phone into the samsung welcome screen. The one method I did find that successfully rooted the phone didn't allow me to use the phone properly being that the sim card I use is for AT&T. So Voicemail didn't work, data didn't work, Navigation didn't work..The phone was basically useless.. I can never get any actual help from anyone here or a clear set of instructions on how to accomplish what I need to do....My note 4 is unlocked...I need to root the note 4...I then need to install an os/firmware that works with AT&T. It shouldn't be that difficult. Yet it's proving impossible to accomplish.

Since your rooted with twrp. You can just install a root browser and delete bloatware. Just make sure you know what your deleting.
And AT&T should work the way it is. You probably just need to set up your apn.

So my phone is S7 Edge G935P. Playing around on it trying to get the trifecta of root, rom, and data. So I odined the G935P.I3 and it worked, then rooted, no data. Then I flashed a Verizon ROM just to see if it would work it did, I have data, but is there a way to activate my sprint phone with a Verizon ROM? The rom I used is stang5litre edition 5.0 s7e by blackrain. Everything works except for the Verizon stuff obviously, so I'm just curious if it is possible to change those things to sprint?
Thanks

Yes you can go back to stock or universal, but I'm still trying to figure out how to activate the device under sprint after root. If anyone can help that world be great..
Activation just sets your apn/profile.
Have you tried adding a sprint apn?

You will still need a donor Verizon phone to activate the Sim. You will only have lte coverage as cdma on Verizon still requires imei number. I would just flash the U firmware if you are thinking of going... Same service minus the bloat ware
Just bought, on Swappa, a VZW HTC 10 to replace my rooted, S-Off VZW HTC One M8.
I intend to use this on a VZW MVNO, Boom, which earlier this year became the first VZW MVNO to offer VoLTE.
I've never owned a non-rooted phone before. I bought them already rooted, I've never actually done the rooting process myself, but have experience in flashing ROMs, I know what TWRP and SU are and how they work, etc. Not a complete newbie.
The phone I've bought is already running Nougat. So I'm aware that to get it S-Off and rooted, I'm going to need to send it to J-Case, which will delay me activating/using phone.
My question ... and it's not the ultimate newbie question about "which is the best ROM," I've learned to do that homework on my own. I've also done some searches and not really found a clear answer.
Will I still get VoLTE if I S-Off and root this phone and use an alternate ROM? Because getting VoLTE is the only reason I stayed with a VZW phone and didn't go GSM instead of CDMA.
Thanks!
Deleted. Sorry.

Hey man, I'm also on rr rom and n firmware with that volte icon in status bar but when I make a call I'm unable to use 4g so volte isn't actually working for me. You can confirm that it does for you? Do you mind grabbing me a ss of on call with still showing 4g by chance? Not sure why it's not working for me.

No need to apologize my friend!
So I guess I have to choose between VoLTE and the advantages of rooting at least for now. I'll see if VoLTE is that big a deal and go from there. Thanks for input.

Maybe not with a custom ROM, but running stock, rooted with Magisk VoLTE works fine here.
Stock rooted HTC 10 VZW variant running Viper10 Rom and VoLTE works for me. You might have to downgrade the firmware and sunshine soff and unlock bootloader then update the Rom and check the network settings via the phone info menu that's hidden. That's where you can set everything as far as Radio Band and cell signal

I may have to contact J-Case and see about S-off since this is already on Nougat. I'm not a tinkerer ... I'm still running flipping Lollipop LOL! on my M8 because everything still works fine and I don't like change for the sake of change ... but I like debloat, AdAway and AF Wall, plus rooting goes along with my control freak nature. As noted, I just don't want to screw up the VoLTE.
