With the new Astro file manager program it included a task manager that shows chinese touch input as an idle program consuming 15mb of memory.
I use taskkiller but this program starts again when using normal text input
I'm curious is there a method to remove or disable chinese support for people who never use it and reclaim some free memory?

Is there a way to find out much memory each program installed is using ?
the memory program built in only show how much memory is used in total.
do you mean storage or application mem?
application
in the process tab it show what processes are running and their memory usage

Hi developers!
A Win Mobile 5 question...
I need to log the memory usage per application in the background (to a file), but I can't find the right tool for it. I have a installed a small app called Memory Monitor from HandHeld that logs to a file each time a delta of 10% of available program RAM is detected. This fine, BUT it doesn't tell which applications that consume memory. So what I'd like is a simple tool, no fancy stuff, that quietly logs memory usage on the device for future analysis. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Anders
u can use DF Task Manager..it shows the Memory usage as well
I remember with my old Ipaq 4150 i could reassign memory from storage to programs. my current p3600i has a miserable 21mb of program space only, when everything else is all shut down. is there a way to reassign the many storage space i have to program use, with a 3rd party software or not?
since wm5 all storage is located in flash
and all normal memory is application memory
flash only got a limited number of writes before it dies
and writes ALOT! slower then application memory
but flash keep it's data even if all power is lost
there are programs to use application memory as a flashdisk for storage
but not the other way around
i would look into using less today items and today items which use less application memory
and possibly look in windows\startup for auto started programs which you dont need
Hi All,
i am a new user to PDA phones. I was using the PointUI home freeware(similar to SPB Home). On turning on the Audio manager, i found the phone becoming slow. The free memory shown was 9.15 MB.I hence uninstalled the PointUI freeware and checked the program memory usage. Even while not any applications, call or msg these are the stats:
Prog Mem: 43.24 MB
In Use: 22.16 MB
Free: 21.08 MB
I would like to know why the In Use memory is taking 50% of the space while NOT running any applications!
and is there any way to enhance the program performance?!!
Apolagize if the question is wierd..just a lay mans' question...
The memory usage is because the OS needs itself to be loaded into memory before you can use the phone. Like in a computer, if you have 1 GB RAM installed, you will not get one GB free when the system boots up. This is applicable to phones as well, it doesn't matter whether its a smartphone/pda or not.
faster GENE!!!
NO guys...u cant make your gene faster by any method even after installing only 1 app!
the fact is when u reboot yr pda the free memory is around 21mb
but as you open applications some of them continue to run in d background.
so use a 3rd party app like 'advanced task manager 0.8' to kill unwanted processes.,.then u will get atleast 12mb free!!
lollll..................
Advanced Task Manager
Hi,
hey is the advenced task manager better than the one provided with the Phone???
If so .. how???? i mean you can see the running processes in the normal task manager too and delete them.....
If its better...then it would be great if you can paste the Download link for it

Point UI is a memory hog. it uses up huge memory. Try removing it, it should improve your system's memory usage dramatically. BTW usage of 22 mb is pretty ok.
What is the best paid or free task manager app?
taskiller free. available on the market
Taskiller will only kill apf you want a manager use Astro or Linda file manager.
Clinton
OI File Manager isn't too bad if you're after a simple basic file browser/manager.
astro is a bit more advanced. it has more options and will also let you backup your apps to the SD card.
Advanced Task Manager
I used to use Taskiller free version but got rid of it after I purchased Advanced Task Manager. Taskiller only lets you view running apps and has a optional home screen widget that will kill all apps. ATM does all this, also shows running processes and services in the device foreground and background, view memory footprint of everything, lets you switch to running apps, terminate apps if root is enabled, uninstall apps from within the ATM program, and create exclusion rules for the "kill all" widget. it costs $0.99 in the T-Mobile USA android market; I would have paid up to three times that probably. very good app all around.
