Unable to update ROM on HTC TouchHD - Touch HD General

Hi all,
I have an HTC Touch HD (1.56). It was tied to Orange Poland, but I have SIM unlocked it with a web service. Now I wanted to try some different ROM (my main language is italian, but english would be fine as well -> as of now I've only been able to partially set language to italian changing registry code, but most of WM6.1 is still in polish). I have tried the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe with no success.
If I just plug the HTC to PC USB cable, ActiveSync wakes up and connects.
I can browse inside, move files, install apps.
When I start the wrapper this is what happens:
1) with advanced USB settings ON (on HTC) the tricolour screen does NOT appear and the wrapper says Connection Error [202]. ActiveSync is ON and ready. -> if I start SSPL-Manual-TouchHD on HTC, the tricolour screen appears, the USB text appears, and on both wrapper and HTC I can see the progress bar at 0%. After a minute or so, the wrapper says there was a problem and shows the recovery procedure (I was never locked on tricolour screen, I just had to remove battery and everything was back to normal). If I try again the wrapper while the tricolour/USB screen is still there, nothing happens, and I get connection error.
2) with advanced USB settings OFF (on HTC) the tricolour screen DOES appear automatically when I start the wrapper, but no matter how fast I am pressing YES on HTC, the USB connection gets killed and ActiveSync disappears.
I have tried 2 different USB cables on different ports (no hub), rebooted PC several times. I have read the 3 wiki pages (HTC_Blackstone_Flash) and the OliNex procedure. What can I do? Can somebody please help me?
EDIT: I am trying this from Windows XP Pro up to par with WinUpdate (.NET 3.5 and everything else is there)
Thanks

You can always try USPL.
But first make sure you follow this exactly:

Success! Fixed gsm-error in bootloader and 1%-error XDA

Hello,
because my posting in this forum wasn'n answered i tried to fix together with Mr. Wolf from Wolfsoft (www.wolfsoft.de - also great for fast XDA RAM-Upgrades) with the informations i found.
Everytime i write the i did something - i mean - we did it! We worked hard together for this solution.
-----------------
First:
Maybe, surely you can destroy you XDA-ROM more than it was destroyed before. I not guarrante or take responibility for any errors or damages occuring while trying the next steps.
Situation:
I upgraded my german O2-XDA in the wrong way. After this I had the following problem:
- The O2-bubbles appearing after soft- or hard resetting the XDA are displayed for 3 or 4 minutes. In the right bottom corner of the display the Version of WinCE ist dissplayed (3.14), after some times someting more was shown but that seemes to be from a crashed source.
- After the "pling" a white screen with a blue bar on the top is displayed. The screen-light doensn't turn off. Nothing more happened, after 20 or 30 Minutes the XDA performs a soft reset automatically - after this the same problems occuring
Requrements I needed to fix my problem:
- 1 (better 2 SD-Cards with minimum 32MB Capacity)
- XDA Cradle connected to the PC and Power
- in some cases 1 Charging cable (USB or Power) with a connector for the XDA
- The Program A and Program B - Files provided by german O2 website
- The repair.zip-File provided by XDA-Developers
- A second XDA or a SD-Card-Reader connected with your PC
- many time
- Your XDA must have a working bootloader (mine was Version 5.15), try it by holding the Power-button while performing a soft-reset.
What I did:
- After entering the Wallaby-Bootloader an "gsm-error" - message appears after 1 minute of "wait"
- I entered the SD-Card-Menu by pressing the Contacts-Button on the left-top of the XDA
- I choosed Write CE to SD in order to save my original CE in order to avoid unuseful Questions in case of repair-fail by O2-Support
- After this I performed a soft reset an waited for 1 or 2 Minutes after the white screen appeared
- While tis time write the contents of the unzipped repair.zip to the SD-Card using the SD-Card-Reader or the second XDA
- Now i pressed the "Volume" - Button on the left side for many times, after some trys (if it is not working perform a soft reset and try new) I saw a non-working Today-Screen
- Now insert the SD-Card on you have written the files from repair.zip
- There are 2 possibel reactions:
First: You get a message to format your SD - DO NOT!!!! In this case remove your SD-Card, connect your XDA with the Charging Cable and perform a soft reset. It is okay that there is no charging light. After you entered the Today-Screen insert the SD - do not remove the Charging-Cable! Then it will work.
Second: Installing beginns without any problems
Now your Radio Stack-Module will beginn to be updated. In my case I got the 1% Error discussed in the forum.
- Remove the Power cable, connect your cradle with the PC and the Power, perform a soft reset and wait what is happening. After the error occurs don't push the ok-button. Simply press the start-tab (or anywhere other excluding the message). Now take the XDA out of the cradle and after this put it in again, still with the error message on the screen. Now an active sync connection will be shown on both, your XDA and the PC! If you have this case, it looks good.
- If this doesn't work, replace the RSUpgrade.sa.cab-File from the repair.zip with the same named File, whats included in the program_B.exe (extract first, you will find the result in <Harddisk-Device:\Programme\Programm B) and writhe both on your SD
- Soft reset the XDA, ignore all errors, do not put the new written SD-Card in - open the Active sync-connection and delete the both newest files in the Windows-Directory of your XDA. If you can't delete, rename the file. After this perform a new soft reset.
- You will get a "file not found error". Try to temove and insert your XDA in the cradle to get an active sync-cennection. If this doesn't work insert the new written SD
- Try new flashing again again, maybe it works. If not try to push on the screen and remove and reinsert your XDA in the cradle to get a Connection.
- If there is no possibility to get a connection - i do not know any futher solutions - sorry.
If you get the connection, perform the normal Flashing with Program A provided by your Provider. After this is successfully completed you will see the loading-LED again! Congratulations!
If this is completed charge your Battery to at least 70% - be patient, it will take up to 1 Hour!
After this perform Programm B provided by your Provider. If this successfully completes - Congratulations - you are up and running!
I don't know, if I had happy circumstances, but this worked to gat my working XDA back!
If it do not work, use the first SD-Card containing your old CE to copy back your old ROM in order to not loose your support by your Provider. Simply insert the card into your XDA and perform a soft-reset while holding the Power-Button. Everything looks broken but original!
Please feedback in the XDA-Forum-Thread, if it worked at your XDA or if you have any hints for improvements this steps. Thank you!
Best regards from Berlin/Germany to all XDA-Fans like I am!
Miwu
Very detail.....thanks a lot !
Tried your solution but i don't know which files i should delete cause when i delete the latest two files i get no error message...
When trying to install Programm a anywway i get a Connect Power Message and the installation stops.
Edit:
I managed to get the file not found error by renaming the RsUpgrade executable but still get the Power Adapter not plugged in Error...
So it would be very important to know which Programm A you used.
Hello,
@ianrush
Have you been able to get an active sync connection as I described?
You have to delete the file causing the Radio-Stack-Update after restart, I think they are located in the Windows directory of your XDA. If you let your XDA order the files by date the 2 newest files are the ones for updating the Radio Stack and causing the 1%-error. In deleting these files you can get your XDA booting without starting the gsm and getting the Active-Sync-connection. To break up the Installation you must delete these files (i remenber that on (the one that must be renamed) was only 35k or in this area, the other one was much larger).
After deleting and restarting by soft reset you don´t get the 1%-error-message, but another one like "The file can´t be found). But if you see this message (do not press okay!!!!!) you can use your Active-Sync-Connection to flash with Programm A and after this programm B.
The files (germen version) are located here.
Klick at the link "Download Software-Update" and accept the conditions by clicking "Akzeptieren". After this a new window is displayed for downloading the Software. The versions are:
CE: Version 3.19.01 -
Radio Stack Version 4.21
"Teil 1" means Programm A
"Teil 2" means Programm B.
Remember, it is the german version with some german specials like the "Homezone". But you can turn it off and while I see, that you are from Austria, I think you won´t have any problem with the language...
Isn´t it very strange, that 2 german speaking people trying find solutions in english??? :?
Best regards from Berlin!
Michael
I have no problem starting an Active Sync Connection, my problem is, that i get this odd Error Message which tells me to plug in the Power Adapter, which is obviously connected...
There is a much easier way of getting rid of the Flash Prog bei simply deleting the RsUpgrade link in the Auto Start Folder in the wwindows directory and its also possible to start an Connection via AS.
My real problem is the battery charge check before the real flashing of the RSU.
I tried it with the mentioned O2 files and also with Tmobile.at/de files.
A solution may be to "crack" the installation file or to write a small prog wich tells PPC that the battery is chraged.
Many thanks for your help, but it didnt solve the problem for me.
PS: Well its an English Forum so i think we should stay in that language
Oh, I forgot to write that one.
The charging light, wich may be an indicator for the XDA-OS for the supplied Power came back as we installed the O2 Radio Stack via the Active Sync-Connection bevor performing Programm A - Upgrade. Try to perform Program B - Update first, in our case we got our lovely orange light back and then performed the Programm A and Programm B - Update again!
Regards again!
Michael
Didn't work for me either.
The BIG question is how the hell did you get your XDA charging his battery again ? I believe that this will help many people to get their 1% Flash failed problem solved.
Hi !
I will try this method tomorrow.
Sebi
Hello,
I do not know why, but after (failed) installing Programm B after connecting via Active Sync first it worked . Maybe because of the working version-combination of Radio Stack and CE.
Regards
Miwu
@Sebi Please post if it is working!
Hi !
Don't work for me.
My problem is same this:

I followed your steps and got the following message on my device:
The file "\Windows\RSUpgrade.exe" is in use or is in ROM. If the file is not in ROM, please close the application using the file.
Please advise
Anaq8i,
if this messege appears then rename the file "\Windows\RSUpgrade.exe" with an new name like "\Windows\RSUpgrade_used.exe" restart the device and follow the further instructions.
Hope that helps
Regards
Michael
miwu,
I cannot rename it, nor can I delete it, I think because it is in ROM. Please keep in mide that the I have not closed the error message after the 1% halt.
I reached the point were I can access my device and can sync with my PC. If I try the Programme A install, I get the message " WARNING 001: POWER ADAPTER NOT PLUGGED IN, Please plug the power adapter into your Pocket PC". Every time I try the RSU upgrade I get the 1 % error. Any suggestions will be appreciated
Hi anaq8i,
please try to rename the file by using the Active-Sync-Connection an the Explorer of your big Desktop-PC. The file cannot be in the rom, it is located in the ram of your device in order to get deleted after upgrading. Try to rename the file this way, then perform a soft-reset (not a hard one) then you will get an error-message that sonds like "the file ... cannot be fount", then put your device in the crade for active sync and try to install the original Programm B of your Provider (not the file from repair.zip). That worked at my XDA.
Please answer how it worked.
Regards this time from Hamburg/Germany
Michael
thanx a lot, have the same error, now all worx fine!
czeky thanks for answer. I am glad that my description was helpful Doe it work for other users?
@ czeky
would you also please be so kind and tell us if u tried any other steps than mentioned by miwu ?
If i treally worked with your XDA there you must have done something different then anaq8i, Sebi and i did...
miwu
I reached the point that I can boot my XDA and can sync with my PC. But I still cannot install /upgrade the RSU software, I still get the 1% error. If I try to install Porgramme A, I get the "POWER ADAPTER NOT PLUGGED IN" error message. I never reached the orange light stage on the XDA.
Anything else I should do?
@anaq81
Did you try to rename the described file via Active Sync? I posted it some day ago ...

Error 260??? Rom upgrade--what am I doing wrong?

Hi all
I keep getting Error 260 when trying to run the Dopod ROM on my trinity.
So far I
- hooked up Trinity to USB
- Synced
- ran SSPL on Trinity to get to Bootloader mode
noted on screen is
TRIN100
IPL-SSPL by Des
TIN100
SLP-1.07.ds
- I run The WWE Dopod ROM
- Click ALLOW (running Vista Business)
- Click I Understand and NEXT
- Click I Completed and NEXT
I wait....and....ERROR {260}: Connection
Anyone else have this issue?
Try to run the SSPL before putting in the USB Cable. As soon you can see the mentioned screen:
TRIN100
IPL-SSPL by Des
TIN100
SLP-1.07.ds
put in the USB-Cable and wait until the Letters "USB" show up in the lower part of the screen. Now your Phone is connected and you should try again to update.

On my laptop, when I plugged in the USB cable after running the SSPL, Windows had to load a new USB driver, it loaded automatically, then showed "Ready to use new hardware". Then the serial on the Trinity screen changed to USB. If it doesn't work, reboot your phone and your computer and try again.
I have Started SSPL prior to connecting via USB -- Waited until USB appears on the trinity. Error 260 -- still
I noticed in the device manager it installs HTC USB Sync. It may have something to do with that -- i will try -- try again.
Try to disable USB connection in ActiveSync so that it doesn't interfere.
Also, make sure Trinity shows "USB" and not "Serial" on the white stripe in SSPL boot.
I tried disabling the USB in active sync. I also tried turning the USB connection in the Settings part of the Trinity -- still the same error.
I have to try this on an XP system.
Success! I tried it on an XP Machine -- and it worked. I guess there are issues still with Vista/Sync/Rom upgrades.
Thanks for everyone's help!

Done all, can´t syncronize!!! Help

Hello to everybody!
After all I have to say that this is a fantastic forum for users of Qtek S200 (Prophet). I bought one last week and started to see what I could do. Therefor... I'm a newbie
This is my first thread, hope that some one can help.
After trying to understand the world of Prophet, I first changed the ROM to an official Qtek ROM.
Now I what to sincronize with my PC to transfer photos and put some software and apps in the card. Like I read here, I downloaded the activesync from microsoft site, instaled it and plugged the cable to my pda. Nothing happened. Than I went to activesync connections enabled USB connection and tapped in connect. After a search, the pda was simply not found. Even after turning down de AntiVirus and Firewall, nothing happened.
What happened? I have to do something in the PDA? Couldn't find that info in here.
Thank's in advance for the help
Heurd
Does the LED in the speaker at the top change to orange?
Does the computer react at all? (any sounds etc.)
If not, try putting the device into bootloader: Press and hold the COMM button and then soft reset, and then plug it into your computer and see if anything at all happens.
If nothing happens, the USB cable is damaged. If the computer responds when the device is in bootloader but not when it is in, the ROM may not have the required software installed in it.
Hi,
Yes, the Led turns orange. I can charge the battery with that cable. But i also read that it's possible in some cases to charge but the part to syncronize can be damaged!!!
But what really intregues me is that I used that cable to put the ROM that I have. Supposedly it's a Qtek official ROM, i don't know if you can conclude something with this:
IPL 2.10.0001
SPL 2.20.0001
GSM 02.47.21
OS 2.20.7.29
In PDA appears the active sync icon and tapping it only appears a window that says to install AS in PC and connect. So I suppose that it has something.
thanks to l3v5y for the sugestion... I will try and than post here what happened.
does anyone has anymore suggestions... I will try everything to put this at work.

This seems to say you haven't successfully installed Active Sync. Try restarting your computer and seeing if it works then.

That is surelly not the problem because I installed AS 4.5, restarted the computer more than once, removed that and reinstalled and nothing... I even had put de AS 4.2 to try and see if it worked - nothing.
Now I'm not in my computer... I will try what you suggested when I go home.
I think it may be something to do with the USB cable...
Had that problem a while ago, my solution was to reinstall windows xp and it worked. so backup your pc, format your hard drive and then install the os (windows xp/vista). i guess it was usb-driver related.
REALLY
Unbelieveble...
well, It's easier to try in another pc before formatting mine. I'm not in the mood (too much time to put like I like)
That way I will check and see if my cable and ROM are allright.
Thanks for the tip croco_64
Hope to tomorrow come in here and wright that it's everything ok
Hi there!
Well... I've tried what you proposed. It is probably a problem of the cable. I tried with a cable of a digital camera and finally the computer detected the phone (with mine it only went orange light in the top, but never recognized - despite I changed the ROM with it ). However it gives an error - the instalation is not complete!!! I went to device manager in the PC and there was a yellow (!) in the windows mobile device.
Is it of the cable!? Do the cable have to have specific properties to sync the pda and the pc? The camera cable isn't enough?
yes... I had put activesync 4.5 in the PC!!!
thanks again for the help

Need urgent help plz...

Hi, I tried to get answer for my problems, but none any specific
so I`m startin a new thread...btw
My JASJAR has the same problem as lots of folks around here like it shuts off at any hard work like starting the camera or charge at 60%. I came to an end that as it works ok with the charger on, then the problem must be on battery. Well I'll try that
But the another problem is PC connectivity...it doesn't recognize the device
I tried MS Active Sync 4.1, 4.2, 4.5, windows 2000 SP4, xp SP2, different computer...just no luck, in bootloader mode it shows "serial" and "0.60" and whenever I plug in the USB, it shows USB, and then same, device not recognized...what to do?
And when I start the device, on blue background imate logo..it shows Radio 0.00.00, what does it mean..I can't even upgrade it as USB is not recognized...waiting for flash from SD, but no luck. Can any one sort these things out
First problem, almost definitively the battery.
Second and third problems could even be correlated, first the third problem/doubt, even if I'm not a complete expert, this means that your device was "unlocked" with the aid of a specific program that does just that (if you're interested in knowind how, go to the uni's wiki and read about unlocking), the Radio version 0.00.00 is just a "by-product" of that process.
So, if you're asking about this, you didn't do this by yourself, so you don't know what and how much has been done to your PDA, then for your second problem, first try a soft reset (this is always windows, remember it!), the re-connect the device (to the PC) and see what happens, then verify that you have the active sync program installed properly (and running) in your PDA, just when you connect the PDA to the computer, the active sync should become available as a running program, so, connect the PDA to the computer, the PDA turns on and says connecting, even if it does not connect to the computer you should see active sync running in your PDA, go to settings, system, memory, running programs and verify that it's there.
Another cause could be hardware (on your PDA), this means, cables and port or even internal (but this is quite unlikely).
Perform these tests and see what happens, then we'll see what else can be done.
Thnz, I trued several soft reset even hard reset,
I tried connecting to the computer with ActiveSync on, with some other software which changes the active sync connection to something like USB serial (from RNDIS ...), even advance networking off, taking out the SIM and memory card...running the device search..no luck.
and btw in computer after installing active sync it gives a window with all menu disabled except "File>Connection Setting". I tried by using bluetooth connectivity. No luck.
I read the thread about unlocking..and tried to do the rest..I mean the second step of unlocking, it showed device successfully unlocked..but all the same.
Any help....
mamaich method
Try this,
Step by Step :
get the tools at attachment , as mamaich told, you have to use it in bootloader mode , (Power + Light Bulb + Reset)
1. Stop Activesync USB connection
2. Uni : Reboot Bootloader then Connect USB
3. PC : Run mtty1.42.exe
4. Choose USB in "Port" (Reconnect if can't find/reconglize USB and try remove sim and sd card)
5. type : task 28 55aa
6. Press Enter
7. Cause DOC reformatted, so there's no rom in DOC ,try reflash any rom that you like .
For task 28 55aa in mtty success , will show the message (attachment )
DONE .

Problems flashing hspl2_1024 **solved**

Hi all, I'm a total noob at this but I've read every possible thread about the Tmous 1024 HD2 concerning flashing hspl2_1024 and the error code that says failed usb connection.
My problem is a bit different from the others' problems but I'll try to be as thorough as I can.
Let me start off first by listing my phone and all of its "stats"
TMOUS HTC HD2
Ram - 576MB
Flash - 1024MB (I'm guessing that this is the ROM size)
OS version - 5.2.21889
Manila Version - 2.5.20121412.1
ROM version - 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
Radio Version - 2.08.50.08_2
SPL - 2.08.0000
I'm at the very beginning of the process (flashing the hspl). I've read mskips tutorial backwards and forwards several times.
The first problem is that WDMC doesnt pop-up when the phone syncs with the comp. Matter fact, the green WMDC screen has never shown up on my comp., not even when I go into the start menu and click WMDC (I've tried every usb port on the comp and have visited microsofts website and downloaded and installed their WMDC a few times). All that comes up when I click WMDC is the connection settings that says Device connected.
The second problem is that when i click the next screen on the hspl2 install window, I get an error window that says something about rapi.dll not being able to be found (i get that error twice and then it seems to resume installing).
Following that, I get the usb failed connection error (a couple minutes later) and hspl2_1024 closes down. My HD2 never goes to the tri-color bootloader screen. I've tried going into the bootloader screen prior to installing hspl2_1024 but that didnt work either.
I'm completely stumped and have searched this forum for the answers to no avail. I've done a hard reset and tried again, but that didnt work. The only thing I havent tried is putting the hspl2 on my sd card and doing it from there, which from what I've read over the past few days is basically considered a no no.
I need help and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Would have pictures but the forum wont allow me to post any.
Flashing TMO HD2
Back up all data on your phone before flashing.
This is what I did and worked.
Assuming you purchased the HD2 in the US from TMOBILE.
1. Change your sync settings on your phone to use Active Sync not the usb.
2. Plug in your device to your computer. Hopefully it recognizes your phone. (If it doesn't then you might need to re-install the windows mobile device center)
3. Once connected run HSPL2_1024. Follow instructions there and should connect. Your phone should have the RGB screen. HSPL program will prompt you which version you want to install. I used 1.0 as it was the only selection
4. When completed it should say something with "HACKED"
5. Reset your phone by taking out the battery for 5 seconds.
6. Once it's powered on it should connect through Windows Mobile Device Center.
7. Now it's time to flash your custom ROM. Hopefully you have the CustomRUU.exe file together with the nbh file.

Mine never comes up either,
click start and start typing 'windows mobile .....' in teh search box and you should see it come up in the list. (round green icon)
either right click that and choose pin to start menu or drag it to the desktop as a link, then you can start it manually. You should find that once you are using it, it starts to come up on its own 'most' of the time.
never mind it seems my computer is to blame... issue solved!
