Another BB connect problem (not mentioned yet...?) - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Hi,
I am the proud (but by now somewhat frustrated) owner of a HTC Touch pro 2.
I was used to BB connect (BES & BIS) on my TyTnII which went good (not without it's drawbacks).
Afther some reading on the forum I used the well known procedure (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4150074&postcount=35) to set up BB connect 4.0.0.106 and it worked just fine...
It workes just fine until IE or some other appliction on the phone tries to access the internet. Connection to BB is broken (of course...); and the connection is even re-established afther the other program is finished "using the radio" but then I can't receive or send any e-mails anymore (even with BB "connected"). Shutting down and restarting doesn't fix this and afther a couple of restarts the BB application won't connect at all ("data tunnel available" -> "disconnected"). (I do have PIN, EMEI and IP...)
Hardresetting the phone and starting from scratch is the only way to get BB working again...until some program accesses the internet again....
anybody? help?

YES there is alonger thread called 'BB connect not working yet' somewhere. I suffer the same issue and it drives me nuts. Simple solution is to go to comm mgr and DISCONNECT data service (sometimes it takes a few tries), then go to your BB connect software on your device, second tab [status], SuSPEND then RESUME. And then BB reconnects.
I do this several times during the day.
I also added a shortcuut to programs for the Blackberry Settings program (which is the last file in the Blackberry folder in Program files on the device), then added these on my start menu so I can easily run com mgr and BB settings. Would love to find a macro to do this!!
It seems BB needs to be the only data tunnel, doesnt multitask like others. Therefore to keep it constantly working you have to stop other things automatically connecting (like Weather automatically looking for your location - switch it off in the weather tab). TF 2.1 often automatically connects, but its not as bad as 2.5 which seems to try to connect ALL the time (and there you need to check the DONT CONNECT box in settings soemwhere).
I find I cant sync my folders perfectly and it often doesnt see when I have read emails on the PC (and leaves them unread). Also, the mail app hangs a lot. However, its still better than owning a blackberry!!
Hope this helps

Hi, thx for the advice...at leat it's a start.
Unfortunately, I now have another problem :
I set up everything perfectly and BIS is running perfect.
However, once I connect to my company's BES, the phone locks afther I get the imposed security policy and I am asked to enter a (new) password... (never had problems with this on my TYTN II).
I have to soft reset -> now the question for a pqssword reapears -> I am able to set a password -> WM6.1 boots -> BB connect is connected and services are apparantly downloaded to the device but I am unable to send/receive mails or sceduler data. (tries to send data but I get a red cross before the e-mail in the send box in sted of the green "v").
so what now ?

this should do it.

well...it doesn't seem to help. Got this cab installed and program is indeed running but stil no ability to send/receive e-mail.
Maybe I wasn't that clear in stating the problem:
1. BBconnect and BIS are running perfect (thx to xda-developers...)
2. I activate my companies BES and the BC software starts downloading services
3. Machine restarts and prompts for "new password" in order to activate security settings imposed by BES
4. screen freezes at this point (not able to input password)...I think this is time dependent : if I am fast enough it succeeds but wait a few moments and it is stuck...
5. soft reset
6. machine again prompts for password and now I am able to set it
7. Windows boots
8. BB connects; services all seem to be installed AND my schedule data has indeed been downloaded
9. BB seems to be running all right ("connected") but I am unable to send or receive both by BES and BIS and I get no scheduler data transmitted or received.
10. afther 1 or 2 soft resets connection is totally lost ("data tunnel available" then no "connection")
I re-istalled BC many times so far (both *106 and *104). I even have goten BIS to work for at least 2 days but if some other program starts connecting to the internet (both by GPRS or by WIFI....) I am back at point nr.9...
Any other thoughts ?

Im out of ideas, sorry. Something else you can try... put yr sim into a clean BB machine and see if it works properly. Borrow one from someone or go to your provider and tell them you want to test if it work for real for you (I did this - told them I needed to prove there is something wronf with the settings at work). then at least you can narrow down if its you and the device, or a technical work issue.

Hi,
I FINALLY got a break-through....
Re-read all the postings once again and solved the problem by:
1. terminate BBCMain.exe process
2. stop BlackBerryLog service
3. stop BlackBerrySecurity service
4. start BBCMain.exe (from \program files\Blackberry folder)
5. start BlackBerryLog service
6. start BlackBerrySecurity service (you need to authenticate after it's started)
It works now for 10 hours straight....fingers crossed
Thanks again ekerbuddyeker for your imput and support !

Solution for Activesync crash/freezing Wizard after re-Sync!

Hi. This has worked for me, and solved a massive problem. Hope it helps someone else too.
Step 1:
Ensure you are trying to fix the same problem as I was by looking at the symptoms, which were:
- HTC Wizard synchronizes OK when you plug it in the first time
- It stays in sync if you leave it plugged in
- If you unplug it and then plug it back in at any time later, XDA goes s-l-o-o-o-w and then freezes and will NOT re-sync
- If you unplug it and soft reset before reconnecting then it's fine
Essentially, the Wizard was requiring a soft reset between every connection to the USB cable, or it would crash and require a reset anyway!
These issues have been discussed in about 10 threads on this board, and on pretty much every other resource for Wizards and Pocket PC devices on the net. I was, however, totally unable to find something like this which directly addressed the problem.
Step 2:
Download a program called Dr. TCP from here: http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp
Run it to open a dialog box with loads of fields with strange techy names... no, i didn't understand it either. However, I've been searching the net for days and I found an article here: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/id;504222574;fp;2;fpid;1277378924 which told me how to work the numbers out...
In the bottom drop-down box, select "Windows Mobile-based Device" and enter 1492 in the box next to that. That's your maximum "MTU".
Here are the settings which work for me (from the top). If i don't mention a setting, I didn't change it!
Tcp Recieve Window: 261360
Dial Up (RAS) MTU: 1492
Path MTU Discovery: Yes
Save and Exit Dr. Tcp.
Step 3:
You need to open "Network Connections"... in XP, that's Start > Connect To > Show All Connections. I'm sure you can find it yourself. Anyway there should be an icon called "Local Area Connection (x)" with "Wireless Mobile-based Device" written in grey underneath.
Right click on that and select DISABLE. This will close your USB connection to your Wizard so those MTU settings can be applied.
Now unplug your Wizard from its cable. Here, I tried right clicking on the connection and selecting "Enable", but it just errored. So you need to unplug it.
Step 4:
Reconnect and see what happens. I am now happily disconnecting and reconnecting as many times as i like and it just keeps on synchronising itself. MAMMA MIA!
If this solves your nasty "i need to reset every time I disconnect" problems then please post here to say so. If it doesn't work then post here also, I guess. If this is a solution for you then credit for this is not mine - it's just the sum total of a lot of searching across this and other forums, websites and message boards. THANKS!
not working
These steps did not work for me.
I still have to reset the device otherwise I get this message after about 5 minutes.
"Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer."
It appears to be only a problem syncing as I can still explore the device.
well...
...that's depressing. I genuinely thought that would work for other people too.
Did you read that PCWorld article I linked to? it explains how I got those numbers... they could be different for you, perhaps?
I'll keep thinking...
I did not look at the article. I'm having other issues trying to get my 2 computers synced with my mobile device http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=234189. Once I get those resolved I can try some different things.
On my home computer I am only synchronizing favorites and files and it doesn't appear to be a problem.[/url]
Oh right ok. I read your other post too, but I only have 1 PC for home and work so i can't help with that.
Has anyone else tried this?
I am no longer having the problem since I fixed my other sync issue (multiple computers issue). I had reinstalled activesync and did a hard reset on my device so maybe something else got cleared up. I am also having much better luck with the way my device is running. Before I was getting frequent slowdowns and lockups. I am a much happier customer and will be sticking with my cingular 8125. I just love all the features, but the activesync issues and slowness was starting to get to me. I'm so glad it is all behind me now and I can start to really enjoy the thing. Although I have yet to connect my bluetooth headset, that may have caused me issues too. Sorry I couldn't be more help testing this out.
I and a work college have had this problem on both our systems and found that it was being caused by Avantgo.
It would work fine and sync every time for days until we installed Avantgo.
After these we both had the symptoms you describe in the first post until we did a hard reset and re installed everything except Avantgo, it was then fine again. As a test I then reinstalled it and it started not syncing again, my college who has not reinstalled it has had no further problems.
I have now been running for 3 weeks with no problems and no Avantgo.
If you have it installed it may be worth trying it without for a wile and see if it helps.
Didn't work for me. Still no connection when plugging in for the 2nd time. MTU value changes back to blank when opening the Dr.TCP again, the other values are ok though. But thanks anyway for the hints!
Greetings,
Andreas
Didn't work for me neither...
just to check (i know this sounds daft) but you did DEFINITELY press the SAVE button in Dr TCP before you pressed the EXIT button? can't imagine why it wouldn't store the data.
aaaaaaaaanyway i guess it's not the ubersolution i thought it was
Now I thought I had this working 100% using this hack (It was on a clean install of WM5 however so this may have been why it worked). Anyhow, it stopped working again after I installed PocketWeather ... now locks up whenever I connect....
I wonder if it is 3rd part s/w causing some of the problems with AS? Is it down to the scheduled update in PocketWeather or simply hooks into the ConnectionManager / ActiveSync from apps looking to see if a network connection exists....
I think some more investigation is required ... or perhaps I will flood MS with 1000's of emails telling them how flakey their software is *(Though I think they already know that)*
Any updated? I'm having this same problem, except my device won't connect at all! Even after a reset. It connected once and that was it.
Hi Silentz,
sure, I saved the settings. I'll try the ActiveSync clean install-method and report the results. 'Hope that MS will put out an update or better version soon! Rumours out there?
Greetings,
Andreas
tried and failed...
tried the above TCP solution- Not working for me either...
Found best solution. Go try the latest imate rom. You can then plug out/in the cable as many times as you want & it'll just work fine.

It seems to be as soon as you access the internet through the passthru connection on Activesync. So installing AvantGo/PocketWeather might explain this to a certain degree as they may be accessing the internet.
Incidentally, how could Microsoft have stuffed up so badly with Activesync? It's a tiny program but works so badly - Couldn't a third party come up with a different version of Activesync or something? I'd pay for it if it worked better than this crock!
Just for info, the latest iMate ROM (With Push Email) does indeed seem to fix this issue. Obviously it was with the WM5 side rather than anything that could be fixed on the PC side.
My Active-sink probelms disappeared since upgrade to the latest iMate ROM. Has been working like a charm with all apps and utilities installed, Tweaks2k2, Spb Pocket Plus, Pocket Informant, Worldmate Pro, etc...
told you it works
cheers
I am running the 2.08 (Qtek test) rom and have this issue since last friday. before that never had it!!
What I changed on thursday was: enable exchange server sync and use it. because push-email si no solution for me I just disabled it and dropped the association.
Then (on friday) the trouble started.
I tried DrTCP...and ended up with a broken netlogon (secure client) service on the pc. The IS solution for that was a new image . . thank you very much.
I am back on track with the pc now, but AS still slows down my device.
Are any of you having this trouble using or have used:
-Push email
-Blackberry
What is the amount of free program memory on your device? Mine is around 6MB (probably caused by Blackberry install which I cant remove). . . .

Odyssey Access Client Question

My PDA is O2 Atom Life. In my office, I must use LEAP to authenticate to the access points. As everybody knows that O2 doesn't support LEAP, so I have used Odyssey Access Client to do that.
After installation, I created a new profile in OAC, power on the WiFi, wait few seconds, use IE to navigate on the internet and everything works fine. When I completed to play on the internet, I disable the OAC and power off the WiFi, there is no any error message appeared. After that, I connect and disconnect the WiFi for several times. Then I soft-reset my O2, I found that the phone calling service becomes unavailable. I have tried to disable/enable OAC, power on/off WiFi and power on/off phone service, but no action can wake up the phone calling service again. So I uninstalled OAC, then reboot. The phone service can work again and the original WiFi service also works fine.
Does anybody know the reason for the error occured? Is it that my usage incorrect? What is the order to enable/disable OAC and power on/off the WiFi?
I found a method that can recovery the phone service without uninstall OAC. The method is just run the "OdyIMCEUninstall.exe" in the OAC folder, and then reboot my device. I have used some registry viewing tool to compare the changes made by that program, the difference is in the NDIS device (that program may remove a layer from the networking stack).
After reboot, I run the "OdyIMCEInstall.exe" in the OAC folder and run OAC client program to enable Odyssey and dim the "Connect to" check box. Then power on the WiFi, everything works fine again. Both phone service and wireless service works properly!!
Anyone can tell me why OAC can affect the phone service? NDIS device is also related to phone service?
I think I get something similar on a Polaris I am testing. No simcard so I don't know about the phone, but if I install Odyssey it works, then after any reboot I have to reinstall Odyssey or I have no wifi access. Odyssey cannot even see any networks.
Is this the same? Any idea to try out appreciated.
As per what t2k269 said - I misread this as "uninstall" but running the install file fixes this. Good spot and thanks.

eMail Problem... but not with WLAN

Hi everyone!
I'm the proud owner of a HTC Kaiser for about 2 weeks know which works just fine, at least if there wouldn't be this extremely annoying eMail problem :-(
I configured my eMail account and when I'm downloading my eMails with WLAN everything works fine, which proves that username/password/... must be correct.
Today I was "on the road" and tried to fetch my mails via grps/hsdpa/whatever was available and it just won't work. I suddently get a "Synchronisierungsfehler" (I'm running a german ROM, in english it should be something like "synchronisation error") and a bubble tells me to check my proxy etc settings, but it seems that the phone doesn't even try to connect :-(
I deleted and recreated my eMail account a couple of times, trying all the different network connections but it just won't work.
If I run IE, it automatically connects over 3G and I'm able to browse the web. While connected and surfing through the www I'm still unable to download my mails with the same error message, although I'm definitely connected to the internet. As soons as I disconnet 3G and enable WLAN, I'm able to send and receive eMails (while surfing still works of course).
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Slowly but surely I'm going insane ;-)
Thanks,
Simpson
What's your mobile carrier? Maybe the provider is blocking the necessary port(s) which are used by POP3/SMTP/IMAP.
So in first instance you could try a different APN if there is one...
Thanks for the reply!
I'm on 3 (Austria) and the strange thing to me is that it aborts so quickly. When downloading my Mails via WLAN it says Connection, Logging in, ... but over GPRS, which should take longer i guess, within the very first second (REALLY withing the very first second), there is "Connection", "Synchronisationerror", so I'm wondering if the connection could be dropped that fast by my provider or if the phone isn't even trying :-(
Thanks again,
Simpson
I guess it could be the port thing I mentioned above.
When you're connected via wifi (i.e. at home) there is usually no specific port blocked. So you're able to receive emails without any issues. If you're connected via GPRS/EDGE/3G/... the provider is able to block an incoming traffic on specific ports. The whole procedure works like that (simplyfied): your mobile establishes a connection via GPRS (which seems to work since you can browse the internet via GPRS). Afterwards it tries to connect on port 110 (which is for POP3) to your inbox. I think there's the point where your provider comes into play. If this port is blocked there's no way for your mobile to reach the mail account.
edit:
Do you have the option to try fetching your mails with a different SIM card from a different provider? If so you should try that.
And yes... the connection can be dropped that fast.

I called 3 yesterday and they swore that the ports are NOT blocked. It must be possible to fetch mails from any provider.
Another funny thing is that if I configure my email account and try to automatically fetch the settings, the Kaiser connects via the same modem as if I would start IE and is able to fetch the settings!!! After finishing the configuration and trying to send/receive my mails, I get the same message again: Synchronisationsfehler bzw Überprüfen Sie Ihre DFÜ und Proxy Einstellungen.
Thanks to this great forum I unlocked my Kaiser with this cute All-in-one solution unlocker (donation will follow ;-) and tomorrow I'll try it with a different SIM card
Thanks again!

Well... if 3 doesn't block any ports... this whole thing doesn't get much easier
I suggest to take a look at your email provider settings (pop3 server, smtp server, login credentials). Maybe you have to use different settings when connecting via GPRS/3G.
I had a similar issue a couple of days ago with a Kaiser ( ), T-Mobile and T-Online. To keep things short... the login credentials have to be different when fetching mails via GPRS from T-Online.
So you should take a look at these settings. Especially at the server settings, since your device gives a connection error.
Well, I started messing aroung with this stuff on thusday. Today is sunday and.... It finally works!!!!!
Do you know what I did?
Well, after 4 days of fooling around I thought maybe I should try to reboot my Kaiser (Ein Reboot tut immer gut!) and after rebooting, without changing any account settings: Start -> Messaging -> Send/Receive -> AUTOMATICALLY dialing Planet3Modem -> You've got 2 new messages!
I'm so happy that it finally works, I don't even care why I didn't try a reboot earlier ;-)
Yippeee!!!!!! ))))
Thanks again for the help!
Greets,
Simpson
I'd never guessed that it would be that simple
Anyways... herzlichen Glückwunsch

My HD2 is harassing me with UMTS

Hello,
I just bought a Leo. My provider is Vodafone IT.
From the very first moment, while WiFi is present in my house, the phone tried to connect to Internet via UMTS. It does so often when Wifi is temporarily unavailable.
After my old Glofiish M800, one year ago, made me spend 3€ for two consecutive connections for the duration of a half second each (1.50€ on connection then) I requested Vodafone to completely disable Internet access for my SIM card. All I did then was to connect the PDA to USB cable and SPB Weather immediately tried to update weather without even waiting for Net via ActiveSync to become available in a few seconds.
With Leo, I also deleted all network access points from configuration, set all profiles to Office Network and unchecked (my ROM is Italian) "This connection has Internet access" "Questa connessione dispone di accesso a Internet".
What occurs now is that often, but really OFTEN, even during the night, especially when I'm on the road and I'm not interested in Facebook, YouTube or weather, the phone turns on and two popup appear:
One as a notification "Called: " (before deleting AP "Called: web.omnitel.it" "Chiamata effettuata: web.omnitel.it"). The other as error message about problems with GPRS.
I also have to pay great attention to the second popup. Once, but fortunately not today, it went over the lock screen and I was unable to unlock it as the slider was below the popup. I was also unable to close the popup as the screen was locked so I had to soft-reset.
I only installed TomTom and Core Player for now.
I DON'T WANT TO PAY VODAFONE LOTS OF MONEY FOR UMTS ACCESS WITHOUT MY CONSENT, NOR SIGN UP FOR FLAT PLANS AS I HAVE WIRELESS ACCESS IN EVERY PLACE I USUALLY GO!!!
Can somebody help me tell Leo to NEVER TRY to use UMTS? I had to agree with Vodafone that I would have been unable to even send MMSs and perform videocalls until I restore UMTS, but I can't spend this huge money for the sake of weather and for greedy (it's the right word) software that just want to connect to the Internet whenever THEY want (ie. Windows Vista/7 does Windows Update only when Internet is detected, it never tries to connect until you do manually).
Thank you. Please anser me ASAP. If I don't find a solution, I will return the PDA to the seller (it's a great PDA, I wouldn't like to)
settings menu all settings connections connections advanced tab select networks change the top drop down to "my work network"
hope it helps!
Hi, I followed what you suggested and, in order to test faster, I tried to manually update weather from HTC Sense.
First of all, even if I uncheck the Internet access checbox from Office Network ("My work network" you mentioned), I always see it comes back again. I found that "ISP settings" only shows two tabs, and no Internet/proxy checkbox, so I also tested selecting this connection.
I also entered "*" as list of intranet addresses.
Every time I try to update weather, for all of these tests, I see the 3G arrows on top of notification bar flashing for a couple of seconds and the same exact alerts
Does your phone always connect to 3G?
[EDIT] I also tested http://www.htc.com/au/faqs.aspx?p_id=297&cat=264&id=118112, no result. But actually the help page says it clearly: it's normal that the phone will notice errors.
Is there any registry tweak or what?
Hello,
To solve your problem, go to the redfrogfish website, google to find the link. Download and install the Data Controller cab. This enables you to turn on/off the data connection function of the HD2
(I wanted to give you the link, but I am a new user and not allowed to do so)
Good Luck

I think you are going further into the settings than i need to.
settings - menu - all settings - connections - connections - switch to advanced tab - click 'select networks'
See my image 1 - setting the top dropdown to 'my work network' (or 'the internet', it gets called slightly diff thing depending on your setup, ,)) means it will look for whatever active connection is available and use that.
I also have a commmanager that has seperate on/off toggles for 3g and data.(see pic 2) So, if i turn off data connection, but leave 3g on, even though i have 3g (well, H) showing available on the top bar, if i go to update the weather it comes up with 'connection error'. If i start opera, it fails, etc etc.
Back into comm manager., turn back on the data toggle, everything works again.
If i turn off 3g, and leave data off, I get the same results.

Wifi not working

Creating a new topic, because the other one is tagged as solved, but it doesnt solve my problem however.
So my wifi is not working, it's connecting to any wifi hotspot but not sending data thru that, which ends in failing loading any pages on IE, cannot download any apps from market and so on...
Anyway this is what I tried so far:
1. Flashed to stock rogers (also tried different Tango roms)
2. Did hard reset procedure via hardware keys (Format all Yes)
3. Did hard reset procedure via About menu
4. Did hard reset procedure via Samsung Diagnosis code sequence
5. Logged to my wifi network, everything looks fine at this point.
6. Opened IE and entered google.com:
"We're having trouble connecting to this webpage" (sometimes no error message but white page with scrolling bars appearing on touch)
7. Tried to access my wifi router via IP address (192.168.1.1) - the same results like above
8. Tried to ping my Samsung Fous IP (192.168.1.18) from my PC with success
9. Disabled wifi network security on home wifi router, the Focus still not working
Additionaly tried a method that fix issues with wifi after using latest wp7 tools, but it didnt help at all.
When using my providers APN there is no problem with opening pages on IE etc., but it's not Wifi.... Internet is also working if I have USB cable plugged in, but again it's not wifi.
Cannot use warranty, the phone is from the USA and I'm in Europe... without any warranty service.
What else I can do, maybe there are some diagnosis codes that can actually help with real diagnosis on what happened with wifi on my phone?
Hello again (from the other thread). For completeness, add the following:
- current OS version
- did/not use WindowBreak
- when did the problem start (if you can identify an event and OS version/revision) - or you noticed
There might be a test for wireless in the "diagnosis codes"... Good luck!
After you use the diagnosis fix, it might take some time, mine didn't work immediately but after some time, it detected my home network. But it seems you are able to connect but internet does not work, this is certainly issue with router/DNS settings in your phone, because I have faced these problems in iPhone, it might wrongly mapped to unreachable ip, but never faced this issue in Windows Phone, you might try changing the default gateway/dns settings, you should also reset your modem/router, and try basic setup before WPA/WPA2 setup

Hi there
Currently using 7.10.8773.98, (MAGLDR 2.0) but tried different versions, even vanilla pre-mango ones, they didnt work well with wifi on my phone either. I checked it at friends home wifi, which is totaly different network and routers.
I never used WindowBreak, never had to because my phone was already unlocked long time ago with ChevronWP7 application.
Noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago, but I didnt use wifi too much, so it could started much earlier. Last installed application was WP7 Tools 0.8 alpha, and all I did back then was using some built-in tweaks (3G?) if there is any, cant remember to be honest but for sure I wasnt editing registry or anything like that, I just play some games from time to time, cant event tell why I installed it, maybe because I noticed there is a new version. I cant tell because I never paid attention to it especially with rare wifi usage at a time.
I have isolated the problem I guess, and it's not the phone's fault. Something wrong with the main access point (Mikrotik) at my place. This is weird because everything is working just not on Samsung Focus. I digged thru many options and couldnt find anything that blocked or stuff like that. Well took it to totaly different place and another wifi network, and guess what - it's connecting to wifi with data flow...
Anyway consider this topic as solved.
