Blackberry messenger for Touch pro 2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Is it possible to have blackberry messenger with a PIN for the HTC touch pro 2 ? I've been looking for a while but nothing

I am also looking for BBM on HTC, is it possible?

oohh Come on!

It´s IMPOSSIBLE because it is a Hardware based messenger, so you will never find it

But thats ok, black berries are crap anyway

I had been looking for working BB app suite (with working BBM) since ages... but I gave up. I now carry a BB Bold and a TP2...
The BB I use only for push email and BBM. All other things that I need to do, I do on my TP2. As a pda-phone, I find the winMo device is light years ahead. But for social networking, nothing beats BBM.
So, I guess I'll have to wait until RIM releases an OS that allows users to tweak and hack like WinMo, or until somehow BBM manages to run on WinMo phones... not holding by breath though.

A search or even a scan of the threads on the first page of this forum would have led you to this instead of resurrecting a more than year old dead thread:

The phone itself it perfectly capable of it, it's Telus (and Bell?) that have the function disabled on the network for smart phones. Really Lame.

Missing Features

Hi I just ordered my HTC magic from vodafone, though I have since discovered 2 missing features since.
The first is the circular zoom has been removed from cupcake so not vodafones fault.
Also I hear that the voice search has also been removed.
Can someone with the magic confirm these or point out any other features missing from the G1 or features that may have been demonstrated on the videos demonstrating the Magic.
yes..i'm comfirm
there's more!!
I just got my htc magic yesterday and when I turned it on, it was missing HTC DIALER and the HTC SYNC for android as well.
I'd thought they were included in the package and the phoning screen is different to the demo on the website as well. Not that its the end of the world but at least when you sell something make it clear on what you're getting.
are the described applications like pdf reader, word/excel/power point compability, Microsoft exchange. Enabled?

Not on the Voda variants... but they will be on the HTC release. Typical Network customisation?
I also heard that latitude is missing from google maps.
I am not too worried about these features missing as either, I never use them or apps on the market place can be used instead. Getting my magic on monday.
Latitude is included and works great : -)
Typed on my HTC Magic
My magic is due to arrive on Monday. I am like a lot of others a Kaiser running Android and liked the experience so jumped ship. So what do you think of the magic?
vodafone e-forum
Yeah, we were discussing this on the Vodafone eforum. (thanks to haykuro for proving that things have been left out).
Its quite funny, when we started (on wednesday) the forum was completely open, but in 4 days of posting, we have had external links removed, and now they are moderating every post before it gets published, so they're clearly not happy with us discussing what's missing :/
agree, they been deleting 3 of my posts after about less then 5 minutes that they were up,so how can we get some right answers??
anyway is a disgrace ,so much words on the "OPEN SOURCE" and then some cool features are missing.
i do understand that android need to be modify to fit different phones like the samsung I7500 were on the camera setting there is a extra setting for the flash on/off. but no voice dialling??? i do drive for work so for me is a must feature, no pdf and so on.
i been criticizing the iphone and i don't want bite my tongue.
i hope voda is gone find a solution to all that or we will be forced to jailbreak it if we can get all the features and benefit of the android platform .
should we complain direct to Google as their adverts about android is misleading???????

Sorry I couldn't find discussion on VodaUK forum with links to these apps. on Haykuro's website there are no apps, just Magic port to G1.
Or am I missing something? Is it possible to install HTC Sync on Magic?
Does anyone know how to undo some of the Vodafone restrictions in place on the Magic or revert to the original HTC setup?
Here's a few of the features that I was expecting to see
Rotate Animation - shrink to small image then expand to fit orientation
Menu on lanscape mode
Support for word, exel, pdf etc
Support for Microsoft Exchange
Activesync
Voice activated dialling plus apps

Can't we concentrate on helping this guy to get the firmware out of his pre release magic to get the missing app from our VF magic back? ?

I'd like to see htc syn, Microsoft office and active sync back into my vf magic too

The rubbishness of windows comes through very quickly

I got a bit suckered by all the good reviews for this phone on so many websites and bought it yesterday. I've had a long time [misplaced] affection for windows phones. I say misplaced because every single model I've owned has let me down.
The sense interface is great. Windows is not. I've just made 16 attempts at trying to login to windows live, struggling each time to input a 20 char secure password on the dinky keyboard and when i finally got the password right, i succeeded in invoking the 'too many failed logins' mode of windows live. Nice.
why is this stuff so difficult for windows mobile phones? why does the phone not go into landscape mode for EVERY application? why is that so difficult to implement? Why did HTC not put a bloody switch for landscape mode? you have a wide screen which would make an onscreen keyborad far more friendly yet you're still stuck trying to hit the 'sweet spot' on a portrait-mode keyboard!??! Not only are you stuck in portait mode but you no longer have a stylus to help you hit those keys!
The initial WOW factor has disappeared for me and I've only had the phone for a day!
can someone help me with some tips on landscape mode? is there some way i can map one of the hard keys to be a landscape mode switch? or some software that does something similar?
thanks!
Install BSB Tweaks this allows landscape for any appplication
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589305
I tried but didn't seem to work for me. maybe i was doing something wrong?
i enabled the tickbox for IE and after the soft reset i tried running it but it did nothing when i rotated the screen. Am I missing something here?
try using Gyrator .. It works on every application

I've just made an app that does just that. Have a look at PLToggle in my sig.
Calm down mate, trust me, windows mobile is by far the best OS out there for mobiles. The only reason everyone prefers the iphone is because of its usability, apart from that theres not much you can do but 'get an app for that', however thanks to this forum, you can do almost anything with a windows mobile device, especially one as powerful as the leo. You just need to get used to it, if sense is bugging you, get spb shell or another ui. And of course theres gonna be loads of problems with it, its pretty new, but its good points strongly outway its bad points (oh and might I add, you'll be getting all your tech support from this site, not htc, trust me), so just give it some time and you'll realise, after 'making it yours' how awesome a phone it is.
If the keyboard isnt doing it for you, download a new one! (thats the great thing about winmo) the two popular ones at the moment are swype ( a completely different style of keyboard) or finger keyboard. I personally like the one htc supply you with, heres a tweak taken from this thread which will lower the sensitivy of the screen which makes typing much easier. Alternatively, bsb tweaks can do this all for you from its menu.
Oh and about the rotate thing, on xanny tech's pandora rom, he has a little execuatable file in the start menu with rotates everything, and its mapped to a long press of the send key, so thats pretty useful, im not running his rom anymore but if you know anything about flashing, flash his first, its very good indeed and has lots of tweaks and useful stuff preinstalled.
Hope that helps a little, if not just ask
thanks for your help mate. having bought into a 24 month contract I'm pretty much stuck with getting to learn the phone whether i like it or not.

I agree with [★]. Once you know it better, you'll get to love it. There's so much under the hood of this thing that yes, you'll find a few things that you don't like, but they'll be outweighed by the things that you do

You, Sir, need to check out my thread, which would surely have come up if you had used the search function. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5197442 Windows Live/Hotmail etc seem to only take 16 characters. Anything after that is ignored. But the Windows Live application on mobile accepts more than 16 and will try and authenticate with everything you type in. 20 character password will not work. Reduce your pass to 16 characters or less and it should work. Post back in this thread to let me know if this sorts your issue out.
If it's a keyboard you're after then try Swype. Have a search for it. I too had a lot of sensitivity problems with the keyboard and it would take ages to type a simple email. Swype solved that. It's a lot less sensitive than the native keyboard and I used SIP to make it my default. In terms of landscape mode, try using Opera instead of IE (although Opera lacks flash). BSB Tweaks will handle the rest although I don't use it myself.
Trust me, stick with the phone and, with a few tweaks to have it running how you like it, you won't look back!
Just return the darn phone, smack it to the floor and trample it good, or learn to use it since you've bought it. Please save yourself over a high blood pressure leading to a stroke, my friend. It's only a phone.. (but then there's always iPhones for usability's sake, whatever it means)

Ok, you need to calm down a tad. Ok, the phone is not perfect. However, there is endless configurability for the phone. The best thing you could ever have done was to come to this site where there is a tweak for almost anything.
Sit down, fasten your seatbelt and take a look around. You need an open mind. The HD2 is no iphone. It's the iphone killer. Just needs a little tweaking that's all.
Alternatively, you could ditch it and join the bandwagon, I mean iphone!
Try Swype, best KB I hve used on a phone, my mate with an Iphone thought it was great and was going to look for it for the Iphone, once tweaked the HD2 is the best mob by far!
I was doubtful when I first had it like you say I thought I should have gone for the Iphone but now I am so happy with it
Windows is rubbish because of the HTC keyboard?? Ok...
Isnt the whole ADVANTAGE of winmo that if you dont like something you can change it?
The advantage of WinMo is the tweaking and Office Mobile My wife had a HTC Hero for 2 months and at the end she begged me to get her a new Windows Phone because the freaking Android won't open rich text format files (unfortunately in her job she is obliged to use rtf as standart file format) without great hassle even with all possible office replacements I cound find on the net. Not to speak of that, that even the enhanced HTC mail client for Android can't open messages that are sent from mail.bg (a very popular bulgarian web mail service). That was the end for Android
Hotmail mail on the HD1 was a pain, same on the HD2. Gmail is working perfectly though which is very annoying when like me, you use Hotmail on your desktop to access your Gmail emails...

First of all get rid of that IDIOTIC iPhone imitation keyboard and replace it with the divine fingerkeyboard from xda.
And then deactivate the utterly unpredictive xt9 "predictive" (more like vindictive) text input.
I did these steps and now I can FINALLY type.
An $800 phone and it takes a donationware sw keyboard to make it usable
Aloms - I had the same problem with my Ipod Touch in the beginning. Don't worry, you will get use to it. BTW HD2 keyboard is better especially in landscape
I will join this thread with my three questions.
I have converted to the dark side and bought iPhone 3GS after having gone through a lot of phones and OSes. I have given up on WinMo (using HTC Pro) basically because of 3 issues:
1. Phone app in the sense of its responsiveness. I mean, someone is calling - first 2 seconds the hardware buttons light up, next 2 seconds the phone starts to vibrate, next 2 seconds there is a sound. Is it happening on the HD2 too? How responsive is it? Plus does it have a good gsm reception? With my HTC Pro I had to keep on testing different radio roms and have not been satisfied ever...
2. When you use HD2 say 4-5 days or longer, does it slow down over time. I mean especially when you use contacts with 1000 entries etc, or is it instant?
3. On a brand new HD2 just charged, when you load in your 1000 contacts, does it have an instant search of a contact in the contacts app? Or an email address in the "To" section when you want to write an email?
Frankly speaking, HD2 looks very tempting, but I am afraid mainly of the 3 above areas and am thinking to wait for Windows 7 or something?
PS. HTC Pro is still with me, but in the drawer...

I've had a Diamond, a HD, and now a HD2 and I can say with 100% confidence that I never had 1 single problem with Hotmail. I've seen a very small number of users on here with issues and every single one of them has turned out to be user error.
I suggest the same in this instance as it works flawlessly when set up correctly, which 99.9% of users do.

Advise considering to get one

1 how is the PDF reader? Good as iPhone ?
2 how is the video playback via coreplayer does it lag like xperia x1

1. The PDF reader is a bit laggy, but then again, the iPhone doesn't have a PDF reader. It opens them natively, which is a completely different thing.
2. Video playback in CorePlayer is perfect, once you set it correctly. (See this post for that information).
3. The twitter tab is great, but you still need to do a few things on either another app, or in a web browser. Facebook integration is much better than on the iPhone (album viewing in particular is really good), but like twitter it fails in a couple of minor ways.
4. Yes, you can view HTML emails.
Hope this helps
I am a die-hard Mac user, and I chose the HD2 over the iPhone for many reasons... all of which have been covered here, but in the end, the HD2 is a better value in every resect, IMO. The ability to tweak it exactly the way you want it is great. The screen.... the screen...the screen.
I have always lusted after the iPhone, but when I compared them directly, hands-on, the HD2 won out.
I am so tempted to get one I was originally waiting for the xperia x2 but I hear it is laggy.
I'm glad video can play without anyproblems
Another question how is the YouTube app can u access your YouTube account. And what is the quality for iplayer? Us it possible to set up multiple hotmail accounts ie will email be pushed to each hotmail account?
Ok I just ordered one! I hope I like it and does t disappoint me lime other window devices
To be honest: Since WM6.5 is doomed and WP7 will be a locked down iPhone copycat OS and likely not backwards compatible...
... I would not recommend the HD2. Get an HTC Desire...
... unless you absolutely need something that Android doesn't have...
... or unless you want WP7, then you should wait for any announcements from HTC.
Regarding the PDF reader question, has anybody used mobilexpdf? I don't know if there is a more recent version. (I don't have HD2 yet, else I would try it myself now.)
I remembering liking it a lot on my iPAQ hx4700, which has 4" VGA display. The app is free and probably old now, but has excellent zoom abilities (great for precise zooming so the empty space on the sides of documents were not shown) and decent bookmarking. I navigated pages by using d-pad and didn't use screen though.
It supports VGA, so maybe it can do WVGA..

HTC Denying that the HD2 has a text message problem

Do you have the unit on conversation mode?
I notice it lags when arranging the conversations, so I either keep on top of the amount of messages I have or switch to 'traditional mode'
Not ideal, but avoids the lag.
yea i using the convo mode i like that, I never had a lag issue with the convo mode in wm6.1 on my diamond
Ah right, first HTC for me, so thought it was to be expected. Guess there really is a problem then.
Shame really as conversation mode is nice, but only the other day I had to clear texts between me and my mrs as it was over 100 and the time to tap the screen to reply was anything up to about 15 seconds

So you are saying that you are using 6.1, yet saying that 6.5 looks ugly under the Sense UI?
yes the tmo us hd2 has issues too.
the main one for me is that every night between midnight and 1 am texts come in as if they are from "yesterday" at the same time so i have to scroll up the chat to find them.
the other issue is if someone replies the same minute as i send they show up before the sent message

the 6.1 is beyond comprehension these days, but back then treo pro is a revelation compared with BB (no touchscreen, symbian-like OS)..
nowadays after using my N1 and palm pre, treo pro and wm 6.1 is indeed dated..very dated....
6,5 with SENSELESS is fine, but once you peel SENSELESS, you are back into windows-95 esque interface..try to tap on the wm screen..even selecting drop down option is difficult enough for me...of course its a revelation compared to 6.1, but its hell if you comes from N1..
anyway i have to get along with this HD2..we haven't talk about battery life just yet

For the record, my iPhone lags like hell when loading long strings of texts in a conversation format too....in fact, it seems to slow the whole damn phone down and can cause it to crash at times.
The point is, stringing texts into a conversation format hogs up a lot of processing power. Empty out your texts regularly

Coming from an iPhone, I actually am appreciating the windows-95 esque OS. Its nice having the function of a true mobile PC in your hand....and WM6.5 may be the last OS to truly be a mobile PC. It may not be pretty, but its very functional and powerful. Sense helps streamline all of your core functions into an easy to use, beautiful interface, and if you need the functions of mobile PC, they're there. It isn't for everyone, but for those who really utilize the functions of windows mobile, there's really no comparison....android doesn't even come close.
I still keep my iPhone as my personal line and my 'play phone', and as a 'play phone', the iPhone is runs laps around Android both in terms of software and hardware...particularly once you jailbreak and unlock it. My wife's got a mytouch 3g, and a friend of mine got a nexus 1 at launch, so I've played with Android quite a bit. Android has potential, but it isn't quite there yet.
And at the end of the day, the iPhone, Android, and WM all have their fair share of bugs...like the touchscreen issues on the nexus one. The HD2 is the buggiest of all, but none of the OS's are perfect.
just my 2 cents.
yeah you may have a point..hehe
however we are freed from windows 95 long ago no point coming back
as per function...well..basic function of the phone is text and emailing..voice call...should work out fine..my palm treo 680 can store messages for 2-3 months back and the whole threads loaded in seconds, no problem
but this is strange - you have a superduper smartphone with supercharged 7L V8 engine, but have to maintain minimum sms on your conversation thread? even viewing and deleting email, or mark read is tedious at best...with palm pre you just swipe to delete..here is at least 2 tap away..

iwang, are you saying that having to tap twice is now considered to be labour intensive?
out of curiosity, why are you sticking with the HD2? it doesn't sound like you are having the best experience with it

Shame really as conversation mode is nice, but only the other day I had to clear texts between me and my mrs as it was over 100 and the time to tap the screen to reply was anything up to about 15 seconds

I had 400 from my missus before I did a hard rest and I had no issues with speed at all, the only thing I did notice is when the conversation is open it counted the texts from 1 to 400 odd, it didn't know the exact number after I had opened the conversation. A bit strange.
