So the new bell ROM as been dumped by MIXXY over at ppcgeeks!! The UI is pretty sweet, and in my opinoin, much more intuitive than TF3D! I know nothing about working with ROMs, but can someone here possible rip the Bell UI and make it a cab for easy install for people? or maybe even tweak it out!?
I put this here rather than rom development cuz its for the UI, not necessarily building a rom.
Now the rom is for CDMA phones, so please don't try to flash it to your GSM. I flashed it, i'm on sprint, no issues at all and i'm loving it! EDIT: I never had an internet connection before flashing this, i had butchered my phone a couple days ago, so i dunno if the internet will work. according to juggalo, the bell authentication is different and won't allow it, but my phone calls work flawlessly.
if someone can test the internet using a sprint or telus phone, please post
EDIT2 it works thanks to yangers for testin it out!

This is point ui??? not just bell devs tweakin there own ui? it doesn't work like point ui tho, point ui has opposite scrolling when you finger flick... this bell ui does not
So far as i know, the programmer who did Point Ui worked together with the "Bell-Boys"
..a screen-shot would say more.

Well we are looking for someone to extract from this ROM the UI and create a CAB for an easy installation....But I'm trying to find out if you can install this in a phone from another carrier than BELL (Canadian CDMA company) if you don't have a CDMA phone don't even try to install this cause can't work....I hope this info can help you to understand a little bit more.

dude, i'm definetly diggin it! the contacts and everything... you don't even have to use the start bar anymore! everything is in the UI!!!
also, if you hit the HOME hardware button, the UI dissappears(really great if you want today plugins!), but you tap the top bar (where your signal bar, batter and Ev are) everything comes back
there is virtually no lag in this ui, i really really like it! Can't wait till sprint apps can replace some of the buttons, ie Video to Sprint TV

Nice, looking forward to it....Thanks
I was due an upgrade from Orange, after having used a n95 for the last year or so, which was a device I liked. Works straight out of the box as a phone, with the features you would expect a modern phone to have aready implemented in a user friendly manner. Also has the capability to be updated and personailse as you see fit - mine had orange o.s. ripped out within a day of arriving.
Knowing an upgrade was due I spent an afternoon on the net wondering what to go for. Seriously consider decamping to O2 for an iphone, mainly because of the data tariffs there, but had my eye turned by this new Touch H.D. gizmo. Now partly because a few of my mates already have iphones, and partly because I enjoy being contrary, and also because I hate the way "Apple" are trendy and Microsoft hated, the H.D. it was.
Haggled away with Orange and managed to get 1200mins, 500 texts, 0.5gig data for 45 quid month. So in went my order.
The HD arrived the next day. I excitedly opened the very sexy packaging (I have a very sad affection for gadget boxes and keep them for years - even after the device has packed up!), had a quick read of the quick start, plugged her in and off I went.
Nice looking skin, quick to where you want to go. Seems good.
But then things got sticky. I wanted to find out how to bluetooth contacts over to the H.D. Nothing in the quickstart nor the pdf. I know, I know, I could of stuck me old sim in and copied the contacts over, but this is a new toy and we like to play, right? After a couple of hours got an answer over the interweb about how to do this. Phew. Then did the sensible thing of copying these contacts to the sim for safety. Uh oh - the dreaded duplicate contact showing problem.
Then I decided to try the browser. As per another post I could not connect to wifi for an age, then it suddenly started working. Furthermore, I was getting a constant "xml parsing error" when trying to connect via Orange Internet. Had had the phone six hours now, and had only managed to get duplicate contacts on! Arrggghh, fustration of the nation.
Sent a text to a mate, only had I? No sending confirmation. What is going on? Oh, all messages--->sent. Mmm, hardly immediately user friendly.
I was getting tired, so set the alarm. How primitive thought I. More primitive than I realised when I was awoken and finally worked out that three button presses were required to get the alarm into snooze mode. Three! And only then if you had randomly pressed the alarm icon in the top bar in the hope it would do something - couldn't see this advice in any instructions anyway.
So by my second day was getting very dubious about this hardware, even allowing for the mandatory new device learning curve. Happily I stumbled across this place. Installed all the recommended softwares.
Klaxon - hey, my alarm now works like all the other alarms on all other phones.
Adavance Config - hey now I get an sms sent confirmation, and my phone is faster.
Backup -copied my contacts from the storage card, after running this programme, to my pc, deleted the sim contacts and hey presto! No more duplicate sims, and a safe back up.
I then played around with the advanced connection setting and the connection wizard and bang - my browser now works!!!
Suddenly I start to like this phone. Nay love it. It appeals to the very big geek inside of me. Its hard to use, you have to batter away at it to make it user friendly. It's more like a p.c. than a phone - ding dong! It is more like a p.c. than a phone.
And here in lies a problem I believe for the majority of users who will gets this phone and will be flummoxed by it and bin it back to Orange.
It needs to be set up as a phone first if Orange are flogging it as a phone, and not a p.d.a. as they do Blackberry. Little things, like a decent alarm clock, sms confirmation, instructions for contacts, turn off sim contacts option. A much better wlan interface - akin to the N95 would help. On that device selecting the browser gives you a pop up which gives you the option of orange internet, or if one is available a wlan. A simple click on the wlan you want and you're in. All very easy, and in contrast to having to open up communication, wireless lan, wlan, advanced, to swap to a different wlan.
None of these things would take too much effort to implement, and would make the Touch HD excellent for a beginner out of the box.
Your average user though will find these irritatations unforgiveable in some circumstances, and if the rumours of high returns to Orange are right, I bet the above bug bears have a large part to play in this.
However, once the phone is personalised, and once it is accepted as a computer, then I think it is fantastic. It's gorgeous to look at and hold, there's lots of nice little features- cover flow in favourite contacts is good eye candy for example.
And now I realise Ive got another piece of Redmond in my pocket, I'm even happier. This phone is a geeks dream - the "chic of tweak" perhaps? After four days with it I love it. I'm going to love it even more in months to come when some clever peeps get Android running on it, or when WM6.5/7 comes out.
A fantastic computer that does phone calls, as well. But out of the box, not a fantastic phone.
Just my 2p's worth.
Interesting to read your experience. I'll keep some of those things in mind when I get my phone next week. Do you have links to the software you added from here? (like Klaxon, Advanced Config, Backup...) I know I can search the forum, but I thought maybe you had them handy to post.

Remember also when you get your phone to add "file manager" to your list of programmes. The software is already on the phone, and you need it to navigate to your storage card to run new programmes.
Enjoy!

excellent review that provides a good insight for winmo newbies, and I sure recognize my first experience in this, winmo is an acquiered taste and it gets addictive with time because yes, this phone really is an ultraportable PC with a phone slapped onto it. I'm gonna send this to some people I know still sitting on the fence
Is it possible to have blackberry messenger with a PIN for the HTC touch pro 2 ? I've been looking for a while but nothing
I am also looking for BBM on HTC, is it possible?
oohh Come on!
It´s IMPOSSIBLE because it is a Hardware based messenger, so you will never find it

I had been looking for working BB app suite (with working BBM) since ages... but I gave up. I now carry a BB Bold and a TP2...
The BB I use only for push email and BBM. All other things that I need to do, I do on my TP2. As a pda-phone, I find the winMo device is light years ahead. But for social networking, nothing beats BBM.
So, I guess I'll have to wait until RIM releases an OS that allows users to tweak and hack like WinMo, or until somehow BBM manages to run on WinMo phones... not holding by breath though.
A search or even a scan of the threads on the first page of this forum would have led you to this instead of resurrecting a more than year old dead thread:

NOKIA vs HTC - 3:0 in just BASIC features (like "replay to" function in mail, mail recieve sheduling, alarm (mega suck on htc).... hmmm, i would say htc - nokia 0:7!)
haha...... if it isnt funny to me, i would cry... i am talking here about BASIC & MOBILE STANDARD features, not "rocket science..."...
LOL I guess you must be kidding talking about mass sms-ing as a "BASIC FEATURE". Be more creative and send different greetings to different groups in your phonebook...may be that's what HTC want from you

mail's "reply to" is present and working perfectly - same for mail sheduling. Alarm is good and if you're not satisfied with it you can install hell of a 3-rd party alarms of your choice. And please... "Nokia"... don't be funny
I am not quite sure, but as I read it i get a hunch the Nokia guy is a bit biased? or is it just me?

It's not a rocket science to search before posting I think.
Just a very basic thing to do in a public forum
I too have a HD2 and I know what he means about nokia alarm. Almost every Nokia rings the alarm when the phone is OFF, dunno but my HD2 doesnt
I like the HD2 very much but for someone changing from a Nokia (N95 in my case) to a HTC (Top of the line HD2) it is very frustrating missing some of the functionalities that for any Nokia is basic. Ok we have the tweaking and I do it, but that wasnt explained to every person buying a 669€ (Value here in Portugal) phone.
Love my HTC, but I dont get out of the house without both phones in my pockets.
I haven't done any tweaking and my alarm (htc embeded alarm) works when the phone is off. Haven't tried G-alarm or Klaxon on my Leo yet...

So when you go in to buy a phone the sales person should say:
"What phone do you currently have?"
"I have a XYX"
"ok - here's what the xyz can do that this new phone can't"
Give me a break - every phone has different features. If you are an early adopter then you either take your chances OR read the manual OR do a lot of research. Just count yourself lucky that there is XDA to help out. Otherwise you are stuck with a phone that cannot be changed at all.
Welcome to HTC world of wonders. The more you pay a phone, the more you learn stuff, the more you distinguish from the mass...
HD2 is the most challenging I've had. It's more like an extremely small laptop actually. As someone advised you before, do some searching. Third party applications and sharp tweaking solved 75% of the issues I had. Some work is in progress, but once we reach 100% the phone will be masterpiece.

I think you got it, "XYZ is a cheap brick, but your TOP of the line (and Budget) HD2 cant do all the same stuff"
XDA helps me to fix the problems.. That doesn't mean that it is better or worse, I can read manuals and I downloaded LEO's manual before I bought it, I think I don't need to say what a crappy manual it is.. Lacks 95% of crucial information that users have to digg in themselves. I am still hanging to my HD2 hopping HTC makes it even better.. fast..

The point of my reply was that the poster I replied to was complaining that the sales person did not tell him the phone was not set up to do some things he was used to. You cannot expect a sales person to know all the capabilities of all phones AND to know how YOU use your phone in order to tell you if the phone you are looking at will meet your needs.
People have to take some responsibility to research on their own before making purchases. If you are going to REQUIRE a certain capability then please - before you find buy - find out if you can do it. XDA is a great place to inquire to those who already have the device as to whether what you need is there.

Hi guys, first post from me so excuse if theres some infos missing what you need, but I'll add as something is asked.
I'm a long user of Nokia phones and just changed my E90 into a Diamond. And the one thing that I really miss is that theres not exactly different profiles to choose from (or made your own). Theres only selections for silent and vibrate, other than the normal selections. And I really miss that from Nokia phones. Just a few simple clicks and phone has a loud theme with a different ringtone and SMS message sound, or then its almost quiet (like when my baby is sleeping).. I think you all get the picture, if you ever had Nokia phones =)
So my reguest is for someone to point out a program or if someone wants to make I would be glad, really glad I think some others would like these too
I could make another post but I'll just add few other programs also to here that maybe someone knows if there exists similar for Diamond
- BestProfiles (enable selected profiles to turn on at some time of day)
- FlipSilent (turn ur phone face-down and its on silent, works for alarming to go snooze)
- Putty (great for symbian phones but I found only programs that arent so good as this is)
Anyways thnx in advantage if someone can help a dude out...
PS. only had HTC for a few days but after starting using it I had to order a data-plan to my mobile and a better battery, but this was off-topic..
Try ageye's G-Profile (http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about), you get a fully 14-days working demo and full app is just 5€! One of the most happily money spent ever for my Diamond, now I even have it start playing music when I plugin earphones/carkit and stop when disconnecting!

I just installed it and it seems a fair try, tho it has a lot more possibilitys that i would actually need from a app might even help that dude out to translate it to my native language, like i just did to PocketShield, not finished yet but almost =)
Below again some off-topic, maybe some admin explains to me how to get rid of it =)
