Dear Friends,
I am having the following issue: iGO works great, but when I use the car charger after approximately 30-40 minutes the phone (diamond) gets very hot and it stops charging the battery. Than I have to wait for about 20-30 minutes and I can charge. I did not go more far.
At the beginning I was thinking maybe it gets too much sun, but not, I tried it in a bad weather too-when no sun at all. Does anyone have the same problem-and maybe knows the solution?
Thank you in advance
Hi morbon.. When you use the GPS the phone will naturally get hot and on top of that when you charge the phone while using the GPS, it will get hotter. The phone automatically disables charging when the it gets too hot to stay on the safe side. If you use the GPS alot, I would recommend getting one of those vent holders and turn on the cool air while using it so it stays cool. So dont worry, this is only a security measure and it happens on all our phones.

Hi all,
I recently bought the TyTN to replace a SE P900 and make the move to WM5. This is a really impressive piece of kit and I am following this forum regularly now to make this device really work for me. I use the phone an awful lot during the day so I tend to charge it whenever possible. Whilst I am sat at my desk rather than doing any actual useful work I tend to leave it plugged into the USB cable to synchronise as well as charge.
On 3 occasions now I have come back from the kitchen or wherever and found the device locked up and VERY hot..... When I pull the USB cable out of the TyTN the device is unusable still and a soft reset is required to get it going again. Plugging the USB cable back in resynchs to the PC and no further problems detected. The temperature then slowly goes down to "normal".
I /think/ that on the 1st occasion this happened, the battery life had gone down from around 70% to 30%............... Although on the more recent occasions, i didn't notice any particular drop in battery level.
Does anyone else have any experiences of this kind?
Cheers
I belive i may have had this problem the other night.
I have a vario2, left it to charge over night. Woke up the next day and it had locked up and the battery had dropped to around 40% charge.

For curiosity...your Tytn's serial number starts with ?
Bye...
Mine is HT627....
i had the same problems with my tytn HT628.
it was getting pretty hot when charging and really hot when wlan was turned on at the same time.
My replacement unit is a HT633, and gets a little bit warmer during charging, but not as hot as before.
i noticed that the battery, that came with the new unit was a litlle bit different then the one i had before. there is a metalplate on the bottom of the battery. the old one was completly covered with white plastic. anyone else have this kind of battery?
Ah - now that is interesting...
Mine has a completely white plastic covered battery too. I'm just conducting a test - WLAN on and charging via the USB...
Incidentally, I've set it to stay on when charging, and the screen backlight is on permanently.
I left it like that all night and when i got up - guess what!
Locked up TyTN
Wasn't very warm though... but I don't usually leave the WLAN on overnight. I'll keep testing.
I have a vario 2 and my serial starts HT632, my battery is almost all white.
I have a screen alignment problem and its getting swapped on monday.

This doesn't look good to me. I had my phone tethered to my laptop while I slept which I do often with no problems. Today I got up and saw the LED was blinking orange and green. I looked and the battery was down to 11% even though the status bar showed the battery as being fully charged.
I popped the battery out and in, tried again, same thing.
When I plug it in the LED stays solid orange for about 5 seconds and then stats blinking.
I tried it on the OEM charger with phone turned both on and off.
It doesn't appear to be charging and the LED's are blinking green, orange.
Does this seem like a bad battery? I live in the US so accessories are hard to get, I don't have a spare battery to test yet.
What do you suggest? I have a new battery coming but it's going to take a while before it shows up.
I had that too for a minute. I suspected a faulty charge / sync cable, swapped it out, and never saw these LEDs again.
Had that too. I'm using a second non OEM Battery, I will try it with the original and give feedback.
I had that with my small charging-cable (non OEM) in my car.
I've tried multiple cables. I'm hoping the battery is the culprit. I have another one on the way but it's literally on a slow-boat from China. If it's not the batter then it's the phone and that's no good. Doesn't charge on, off or in bootloader mode. I've read all the threads and it really could be either. Fingers crossed.
My LED was blinking orange/green too
I was using a non-standard (cheap) battery when this suddenly occurred. Changed to original battery and everything was OK again. Seems like the original batteries are best after all (even if they cost ten times more in my country).
Think that too. My Original Battery works well. The Battery from China is "blinking" sometimes for about 15 minutes.
same or even worst problem
During the first day i buy the phone and charge for 10hour, after that i switch on my phone i was shocked my phone wasn't charge at all but the indicator light show from orange to green.
so i charge my phone for the second time, this time its show 100%. i browse the phone setting and function all that less than 30min and before i sleep it was left 70plus % and after i wake up its left with 20plus % and the timing from i sleep to wake up less than 5hr. my wifi ,gprs bluetooth 3g everything is off except the alarm.
now i charge my phone for the third time after charging for 8hr i switch it on and it did charge but only 20plus % and i continue charge my phone for the forth time. i sucessful switch on the phone and its show 100% but it suddenly turn off, i was shock don't know what went wrong i try switch on the phone and its show the phone is low battary.
so i charge it again and the indicator light turn green less then 1min and my phone becoming weird i can't charge and switch on. once awhile it can be turn on.
so i try charging it again and the phone keep on restart.
i got so fedup as the phone is a brand new set and use it for less then 1 week. i'm going to get it fix tomorrow.
anyone with the same problem or know anything when wrong can help pls.
Hard reset helped me + check if a cable is deep enough in the phone
i try already its still the same. do u have the same problem.
i was charging my phone 2 day ago, and listening to music and downloading a lot of mb from internet with wifi, and i putted it under my pillow
after about 2 or 3 hour i pulled it out and saw the orange and green blinking
my phone was like a fire stone, it had a very bad result, the lcd doesn't had touch sensitive anymore
after 2 hour the sensitivity came back, but the story didn't finish yet.
after that, every time i charge this phone, the lcd sensitivity goes off,and after i cool it down, sensitivity comes back
but now while i'm sending this message, the half of screen doesn't have any touch sense what is your suggestion for me???
I had the same issue with my original battery - turned out that the middle pin in the battery connector had been bent when I swapped batteries - I straightened the pin back to normal position and now it charges fine again.
Jon
i am having this problem too. the led is blinking and the battery is not charging. i am forced to use a cradle to charge it up.
The orange and green blinking on charge happened to me a couple of times. In all instances the phone was too hot due to having it covered or temperature of the room was also too hot. Allowing it to cool made it work again. I haven't suffered from this problem ever since I started keep it well ventilated. Hope this helps.
yup. i google for it. and notice it due to overheat. i tried with air con on. it seem working well.
but for me. i cant feel any overheat (like hot/heat on my device when it start blinking.
hide.
The blinking light is the phone saying its overheating
this happened to me but the worst thing was I could of bought a 1500mAh battery from Hong Kong for something like £5/6 but i decided to buy one from my own country the UK and i read that an extended type was the best so i bought an extended 1350mAh for £7.99 thinking i would have no issues but its with this new battery that it overheats if i am charging via wall or pc and using my phone!
using tbattery it says the battery is only a 1230mAh anyway!!
but with my original battery i can charge and use at the same time so kinda annoyed i thought i was paying more to get better but i guess i live and learn
so now i have ordered an 1600mAh for my phone for £5.99
i should just use it as a backup battery .
p/s : what is the average battery temperature ?

I bought 2 batteries from eBay. The cheap Hong Kong one does this at 60%. The other one was from the UK and claims to be the real thing, and it charges all the way to 100% and has given me no problems (it's the one I've been using for the last 30 days).
Moral of the story: Buy official batteries.
Hi all,
a few days ago I`ve got the same issue. Please don`t laugh, but sollution I`ve found is really funny.
Firstly I was trying to flash different ROMs, Radios with no luck. Trying to clean battery contacts and phone contact pins, especially the middle one, with no luck again.
Then, thinking logically ( ), I`ve found what changes occure to my phone. I didn`t flash a new ROM, didn`t intall any new software and so on before the charging become naughty. The only thing that changed was the temperature around, now here is hot like in hell: about +30C. So I plugged in portable charger and put it with my hd2 into refrigirator (changed it to maximum t to avoid any inconvenience) into low humidity container. In a few hours battery stated was shown as 100%. The next time I was trying to charge it again in the room, but got only blinking led, had to put it back into refrigirator
Seems that battery or phone has a temperature sensor, which stops charging when batt t raises above safe level. I believe sometimes this sensor fails or smth like that and charging can be stopped even when t is not so high..
since a few days ago the battery charging symbol and the front led will only activate if one of these following conditions is met.
the phone is standing vertically on its side or if it is face down.
if i try to (slowly or fast ) turn the phone on its back (face up) then both
the charging symbol and front LED switches off and the battery stop charging.
it seems like a sensor issue and so i recalibrate but no joy... i check with a virus checker too. no viruses
LOL
can any one help
i have a HTC HERO G2 touch...... sorry i got to update my thingy down there
thanks
have you tried re-calibrating your battery?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
i really cant get ma head around what has recalibrating the battery has to
do with the position that the phone has to be in before the battery begin to
charge.
the battery is fine, i still easily get a full days use out of it and thats with meebo running four accounts all day with intermittent talking / calling, mailing, sms and listening music.
it seems to me to be a sensor issue but hey i could be wrong
has anyone experience this or can help, is this a hardware or software issue
Thanks
Sorry was just my first thought when i read your post, i just cant think that a sensor would be causing your problem. perhaps it has to do with the connection between the phone and the charger? :/
Hero with Sense 2.3
ill keep scratching ma head on this till i can figure it out.
however thanks for your input much appreciated
Youre welcome, hope you can get it sorted. have a good long search on google, theres always something . Good luck!
Hero with Sense 2.3
I might be your wire (the bit that goes into the USB port into your phone), had problems with laptops which only charged in certain positions too. It could also be the inside e.g. if you dropped the phone or got it wet. For starters Try another USB wire if you have one and see how it goes.
k0zmic thanks
it turned out to be my power supply a friend brought over his one, plugged
it in and lo and behold the indicators worked as expected.
thanks for the tips
No problem.
Hello everyone, I'll tell you the ultimate experience even if it is not the first time that happens.
2 days ago I left the nexus to 46% of battery, the next day I found it turned off and the device would not turn on.
by trying to connect to the power turns on but the display flickers constantly and makes a sound as if he were about to explode.
if I leave a little in office and try to turn it on, it lights up with difficulty and then it shuts down suddenly emitting sound louder and have vertical lines and horizontal time.
I'll post a video to make you understand better.
the problem is not to download the battery or something more serious?
sorry for my enghlis, it's made by google!

If you leave it plugged in and don't touch it for a while, does it eventually do anything? Just sounds like the battery is dead to me, although not sure about the weirdness with screen etc.
Leave it plugged in for a while on the original charger/cable and if it doesn't boot up right after 30-60 minutes of charging, you might have to warranty exchange it.
if I leave the tablet plugged into the power outlet for a few minutes (maybe 10) everything is back to normal.
the strange thing is that this problem occurs when the battery drops below 20%

Good to hear! My guess is that it didn't have enough power to really power on, which I don't like in various ways.. First it might mean the battery was overly discharged (when your battery is at 0%, it's still well above minimum LiPoly minimum voltage, but I question that in your case for example) or that something else is kooky.
I'd say charge it to 100% and use it normally, and let it get down to 5-10%, lower if you like... If it continues to behave okay, maybe just a fluke. If it freaks out below 15% or something, warranty it.
After watching that video I would say return it. That looks bad man! Also, what is on the end of your power cable? Looks like a piece of wire or tape or something?

Hey there!
Does anyone else have the issue that the Le pro becomes really slow as soon as it's charging?
Feels like cpu throttling.
I'm running on the latest Lineage update.
I`m on Stock with Last Update and have the same Issue its noticeable slower on the charge.
It happend to me on old cydras rom. I don't know if is from the rom or just the hardware but it dissapeared. I'm on turbo rom and works fine. Be patience few weeks. If still does that change the rom. The phone may have some protection when overheats and cuts the cpu power to cool down. When charging temperature rise and if doing something with the cpu or gpu that rise temperature even more it automaticaly stops to cool down. It happens to me when playing games and charging phone.
That also happened (and still does) to me, the fix is exactly what you said @motanel_pufos, just let the phone cooldown a bit, because when it gets warm the cpu will indeed cut it's usage... Give it 10-15 minutes to get cool enough and enjoy your experience again
The problem is that the phone will be slow from the moment you plug in the charger. Even when it's cold..
Bumping this as the issue still occurs. Like mentioned above:, the moment I plug in my charger the phone is slow.
Is it better to report this as a bug to lineage?

can you turn off quick charge charhing in your rom??
I can't turn it off, and I shouldn't have to though ?
It's unbelievable slow when charging. Even my music interrupts while charging in the car.
Nobody else having this? I'm thinking of going back to stock ROM...
I have this issue as well. It seems like it's only been happening for the last month or two. I've been using AICP and Lineage roms and it has been happening on both of them.
I'm not sure if it is the heat from charging or the fact that the phone is sitting in the sun when it is connected to my car mount.

The worst thing is that my phone is garbage when it's in the car kit. It often goes so slow; even calls freeze up.
Is there anyone who knows how to reach lineage?
I used navigation with the phone in the car mount today. I did not plug in the charging cable. Everything worked great and there was no lag. So it looks like it is just the heat from charging.

Like I said; it only appears when you charge.
Let me use a small summary of how it happens:
1. Phone is cool and fast
2. I connect charger (phone is still cool)
3. Phone gets really slow (phone is still cool)
4. Phone is still slow (phone gets a bit warm)
5. I disconnect charger (phone is still warm)
6. Phone is fast again.
So it only appears when I connect the charger.
