nope no video out from what ive researched. even if there were, its qvga resolution so you are fairly limited.
you could your soti pocket controller to control your pda from your PC, you get a real time feed of you ppc on your pc.

It is definitely possible to do it (even that I have no idea how).
Ateksoft has a program called WebCamera Plus which let you use your PDA as real-time webcam.

I'm using it on my TyTN and it works great.
using a pda or symbian smart phone as a webcam is possible as the software captures the straming video and transmits its as data packetrs via usb or BT to a PC, in which it is then decoded on the PC and the image/video stream from the camera is formed.
Actual video out (such as that accomplished with notebooks) via usb on the TYTN is another thing - from what I have read it might not be possible.

I googled video out via usb and found a 60 dollar cable that converted from standard usb to s-video and audio and I'm sure theres mini-usb to usb converter

It'd be easy enough to emulate VGA on your device and use that for presentations, but your limitation is lack of an I/O to the graphic chip. As such, you're stuck with streaming the display data, which will be slow (for games), but perhaps perfectly fine for a slideshow.
Next prob though is the hardware - you can stream from device to device, but not stream from device to a (mini-usb) wire to a projector etc - at least the hardware issues are well beyond my experience.
A streaming projector might be a good solution. But all in, I think you're generally stuck for a cheap solution to outputing video over USB without a surrogate device in the middle. And if you're gonna have a surrogate, you might as well use that as the display device.
Check out nyditot for a VGA emulator.

May I suggest a better way? Simply install PC-based Powerpoint viewer on storage card. That way you merely need to drop your card into an USB SD reader, connect the reader to any host PC, and run your presentation. I do this often and avoid traveling with my laptop.

One reason I've always disliked the Ateksoft solution is that it requires installation of Ateksoft magicry on the PC. A true webcam solution should simply make the PPC act like a dumb webcam, piping the audio and video to the USB. We've all experienced those cheap webcams which you just plug in to your USB port, and MSN or Yahoo or whatever can pick up the device as an audio/video webcam, no installation of drivers required.
Software which does for webcam what Softick does for USB mass storage is what I'm after...
You didn't say what you wanted by 'video out'.. but I can tell you there aren't any 'unused' pins in the USB pinout. They're all audio or usb data. If the TYTN supported usb on the go (which it doesn't seem to) then you might see it turn into a mass storage device or webcam easily..
But for the moment, no, theres no pins to tap a composite or vga signal off of. I highly doubt the device has such a chip on board.
eh, I wanted to output video to my car A/V system. since I can sync the video on my device to my media center, that would be the easiest way to take shows to my car. so the streaming or flash solutions really don't address the problem for me...thanks for all of the thinking on it, though

That's the kinda stuff i've always wanted e.i. connecting my PDA to the SVideo Input of my car screen.
Seems "easy" to do with activesync, but seems to cause trouble because of the lack of video stream on usb pinout.
I'm just letting out an idea : Might be possible to emulate an activesync connection and capture the sreeen of the PDA and broadcast it out on svideo.
(don't ask, I don't even have a clue of how to do that)

Hi everybody, I am an hi-tech fan from Italy.
I discovered this incredible device, and I am seriously thinking of buying it to replace my WM6 based smartphone (eten m700) and my multimedia player Archos 605 wifi.
I would like to know:
1) How many hours of continous video and audio playing can I get with the X7500?
2) Do codecs for VOB, AC3, OGG, and every other audio/video format exist in WM6?
3)How good is the audio quality with earphones?
4) Is there a program like Videolan for WM6?
5) Can I dowclock the cpu of the device to gain some more battery life?
6) Is there a way to install windows XP or a distribution of linux on it? Ok, 7aybe it is Sci-Fi....
8) I am also thinking to equipe it, if I will buy it, with a 16GB sdhc card. Is the file transfer from pc fast?
9) Does the x7500 have an USB Host function? If yes, is it USB 1.1 or USB 2.0?
10) Am I asking too much to this device or can it be a good PMP?

First of all, welcome to the forum.
1. Couldn't say exactly. I've watched 2 full movies once and can't remember how much battery was left, but for sure it can play at least 4 hours of video.
2. I'm not sure about VOB files, but everything else you've mentioned work fine.
3. I'm not an audiophile to say the least, but I find the sound quality to be very good.
4. TCPMP is kinda like VLAN (free and can play almost everything), but not the same.
5. Yes, but video performance would probably suffer from that.
6. Actually, there is a linux project going on, but don't know how close is it to become a reality.
7. Hey, there is no 7.
8. Have no idea.
9. It has a USB host cable (4-in-1 cable), but its 1.1
10. I'm using it as a UMPC/PMP. while its not perfect for each task seperately, I believe that it's the best all-in-one device today.

Stock headphones doesn't sound great. But the best thing in this device is a 3.5mm audio output jack where you can plug normal earphones. If you can get a good quality one, then along with Pocket Music Player or CorePlayer, you can get the best music!
Video playback is best when files are optimized.
File transfer from PC is not fast. It's better you have a card-reader to transfer them or why bother?

Does your truck have a USB in? if it does you can use the tilt as a usb drive using Card Export.

tilt doesn't support video out ... therefore no video out cable.

i think its a piece of software. The Redfly works as USB Host and installs a cab on your kaiser (reference MyMobile)

I thought I was onto something there...
If you read the description of the second link, the requirement says the pda has to have an sd slot. Kaiser would not work with that solution.
Um, isn't the SD slot the thingy that I put my micro SD in? The description states that it is for a MicroSD slot... and by the picture, that sure it what it looks like...
But every thing I read, the SD Slot gets recognised as a printer device, and you 'print' your documents to the port, and the port compiles the 'pages' into slides to output for you as a slideshow...
However, I think the question with the first post stands most important... is it a software difference in the Raphael, or a hardware difference?
Hardware. The chipset in the Kaiser can technically do video out, but the required circuitry is not implemented.

If the Redfly and MobileMe can both do video out on the Kaiser, then I'm sure you could get the Kaiser to do video out with the right software.
The trouble is, who is going to write the software? The device has basically been discontinued, and the replacement devices all have video out. So unless you happen to come across an awesoem programmer who just happens to have a Kaiser himself, the chances of it ever happening are pretty slim.
I'm not sure if this technically counts as video out, but there's a freeware application called "mymobiler" that installs a service on your winmo device and then outputs a fully functional display of your device on your computer screen via a USB cable. I used it a few times when I was giving presentations of winmo software I was writing on my Tilt and it works well enough, although it might choke on heavy animation.
Overall not something you could just plug into a video-in somewhere, but it might be a start for those who have PC's etc. running with a touchscreen in their dash.

Basically, I would like to know if TV out is possible to connect it to my car entertainment device that I am planning to buy :
Din 1, 7 inch with DVD, GPS, Bluetoth, USB.
This will transform this device to a mobile device with a large screen from where I can surf, chat, play games etc...(launch all apps from the HTC HD2)

I read in a forum that via the 3,5mm jack it might be possible to video out (it was for another phone).
If Hardware does not support it via micro USB, we are stuck I guess,

To answer question 1 and 2, the HD2 does not support video out as it does not have a built in video out socket nor would you be able to achieve this via the 3,5mm jack.
It is not a built in function to handle this via bluetooth I could only suggest you try to look up some 3rd party program, but I could not provide support for this.

Well actually, the HD2 does support video out! Using myMobiler you can display in full screen on your PC what's going on on your HD2. And if in turn, you connect your PC to your TV you could also watch your HD2 on your 50'' Full HD TV screen
OK, I'm joking here, the quality would be terrible, but still, it goes to show that it's possible to have video come out from the micro USB port and be displayed on a much larger screen, so maybe someone will go one step further!

I basically wanted to connect my HD2 to a Car Entertaniement device which has a 7 inch touch-screen, 'genre auto-radio', (7 ' Din1, DVD, GPS, Bluetooth, USB) in order to take advantage of all features/applications from the HTC (Google maps, dictionnaires, enclyclopedia, 3G, opera, chat etc).
Mymobiler will not help at all.
The HTC Touch Pro supports the video-out; The HTC DH2 does not support it as it is now. I have seen on http://wmpoweruser.com/ a guy making a video out cable for this LG eXpo. Check the video. Why can't we do it?
It shouldn't be difficult to make a video out cable...
Via a redfly?
If you were really committed, you could grab a Celiocorp Redfly, wait until they release the HD2 driver, then use the media cable to output to video...
Then, for the transmission of the video, you could use either bluetooth or micro-USB.
So it's technically possible with the right hardware...
The closest thing you'll get to TV out on the HD2 is the ability to set it as a media server, but that will require some kind of media browser client. I've done this with my PS3 and a Nokia N95, but the software is currently under development for the WM platform.

Incidentally, they use a PS3 on the demo video, but that is not required. Also, you can use this to stream video, not just pictures.
problem is
phones that output through the 3.5 jack have an extra connector inside the socket to carry the image channel so there is no way to adapt a standard 3.5 output to carry video regardless of software. (not taking mine apart to look if its 2 or 3 chanel of course hehe)
as for through the usb im less sure but i'd guess it would only be able to send to host devices and not client peripherals. course, I'd be more than happy to be told otherwise.

i wish some one finds out how to do this.. but i just did a quick search on google and what i found out was that none of the snap dragon processor based winmo devices do video out
guess ill be keeping my iphone 3gs (cos i need video out )

The processor has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the device can output video. It needs specific hardware to do this and it is not included in this device, neither through the USB port or the 3.5mm jack socket.
It is 100% impossible to implement a "fix" for this with software because the device simply does not have the hardware required.
Actually, Snapdragon processors DO support TV-Out. The Acer s200 (neo touch) and Toshiba TG01 both run on Snapdragon and support TV-Out. What I think the problem is, is that the hardware is there, but HTC just haven't implemented it. Meaning that they simply have not connected the function. Which is actually a shame as this was the only thing the pushed me away from this spectacular device and choose the Omnia B7610 instead, because it is a better all round device.

You need a lot more than just processor support for TV out functionality, so the hardware is not there. Some of it is, but only 1 small part.
Exactly! That's why I was disappointed with the HD2. Seeing as Acer and Tosh both implemented the tv out functionality from the core, why didn't HTC do the same? Surely it wouldn't cost them THAT much more would it?
As far as I understand, this is a hardware related issue and not driver related? If it is driver related, I am sure one day this driver would be coded and made available in this forum.

You can use the hd2 as an usb-stick. With that function i can view movies and listen to music on my Alpine touchscreen radio.
Anyone know of a way to stream video from the HERO to another device? I'm sure the EVO can do it since its got HDMI out. Basically what I'm looking for is soon here on my vacation I was thinking if my 11 month old gets fussy I could stream micky mouse which I already have in mp4 format on my phone to my portable DVD player.
My dvd player is old though and I only see AV out and AV in. No svideo, rca or anything. It may not even be possible. I'm open to buying something else cheap tho. Any other ideas?

It appears that the functionality needs to be in the hardware. It might be possible to do on our phones but I don't think it is possible to have a general any Android with USB support type of thing. I would imagine modules would have to be compiled into the kernel for it to work so it would be on a phone to phone basis with a custom ROM and that is probably why no one has put the effort into it.
n/m I found an HTC OEM usb mini to RCA cable that will work wonders. My brother in law uses it to stream video from his phone to his car LCD display.
Anyone know of a TV OUT android app though? I'm assuming you'd need something like that
