The recorded video quality with HD is really poor and I was thinking maybe there is any software which can improve the quality of my recorded videos? Thanks

Hi,
Does the HD2 Leo support 720p recording ? I heard it did ? Also i heard it will be capable on android running it from the HD2.
If true... why is it not possible on Windows Mobile ??
Thx!
i guess its because of the camera driver.

Oh come on! This has been gone over so many times!
Winmo doesn't support the drivers, that and It can hardly handle the video at that resolution
Ok so is android on the hd2 capeble recording 720p? (with the right drivers) ?
Not yet. No one has managed to get 720p recording to work even with Android though I believe progress is being made.
Don't get your hopes up with 720 capability saving this phone's camera. Just imagine the picture quality of the camera now, just way bigger. The lens is just not the best.

Lens is capable of taking up to 5mp pics. So 720p recording is possible, but framerate may be low.
Hey guys,what's up?
I am waiting for my DHD and won't stand waiting till I receive it to see for myself!
Now I have a Desire and, although it has a good enough camera, sound in videos recorded by the phone is just TERRIBLE.Is sound recording better with the DHD or is it the same crappy 8KHz amr sound?I would expect much better from such a phone!
Thanks!

i'm waiting for my DHD too, but as i heard SOUND where HTC fail.
That's what I heard too and that's why I want to know!
It is a bit better.
But still not as good as the x10
What they really need to do is to change the format into .mp4 instead of .3gp, because I think that it's the .3gp that is to blame here.
The Galaxy S had an update not too long ago where they enabled videorecording to .mp4 too, so I see no reason why HTC should not do this aswell.
I was really hoping the Desire Hd would have better video recording than the original Desire probably because they called it Desire 'HD' but it would appear not. Looking at the examples on youtube I think the samsung Galaxy S is the best option. The sound is so much clearer. Is there not an App which can take better videos?
Look how the Desire HD Lags when the light levels change. No excuse in this day and age for that.

3GP in Desire HD including mp4 + AAC-isn't bad format but.....
bitrate in 720p is only mono 32kbps-poor,
On dvd 800x480 is much better mono 64kbps like stereo 128kbps(2x64kbps).
that mind Desire HD can record in better bitrate, but need change a little camera softwear,
This isn't camera phone like PIXON or N8 but have best camera in HTC phones!!!
I check with new Nokia C7 8mpx vs Desire HD and Desire HD have a little better quality photos and video, but Nokia record audio in stereo 128kbps
I hope so that update fram HTC can change this or guys from XDA find a way to do that.
So does anyone know of any software to record video in 720p with improved Audio and camera quality?
So I recorded some videos last night for the first time with hd2 android and i noticed that the sound quality is poorer. Maybe because the format is 3gp instead of mp4 like in winmo. Is this the way with all android builds or is there any build with a good video recording? Thanks

I don't really know, but 720p recording is almost ready for Android so just hang on, I suppose the audio quality will be higher too.
You might wanna check your camera settings though, with some builds you can change the recording quality..
I'm using MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 nand and I've notice the same. Can I change format in any other android rom? because in my I can't. If not I suppose I have to wait on 720p recording.
Please can someone tell me what is the best android nand with 720p recording and playback?
Thanks in advance
Actually 720p recording is quite a problem with the android roms on the HD2, actually I don't recall seeing any rom that got it properly working
so is there no rom available for the HD2 which can do 720p recording?

No, if you would have searched, you would have found that answer on your own.
found this video on youtube:

We all know that 720p recording is working on this sd build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038694
But I asked in the questions, and the person that uploaded the video said that it was a 2.2 froyo build.
the question is, is that a sd build, or a nand build?
The max resolution is 480p on Youtube. The vid is fake ?
edit [30.JUN] New video uploaded, showing 720p settings in camcorder app

Why do I only see a 480p max in the resolution selection?

Go back to the video, you cannot change to 720p hd quality, i.e. the video is NOT HD.

indeed, but the quality looks a bit better that normal android recording.. Have no idea.
WP7 is the single software on hd2 which records 720p so it seems to be wp7

I don't really understand you guys.. I've tried recently that Gingerbread ROM that claims to record 720p (just an older version), you could easily select 720p record mode, and the preview was ok, and even it would record, but the output was awfull, it was definitelly less than 720p, and 1-3FPS!!! Now i've been trying to watch an eye on that thread, people are claiming that it sort of records in 720p but with 1fps only, which, of course, sucks hard. (but it might be a progress somehow)
Secondly, the first video from this post is 16:9 and it looks good, though it's for sure not an HD video (and never was). The tricks is that you just need to install MIUI (or at least MIUI camera) and you're gonna get the best camcorder yet available for Android (imho), which also records 800x480 in very good quality (though sound quality is quite bad), and makes stills in 16:9 aspect.
Thirdly, it's definitely not a WP7 video, as i'm using WP7 in dual boot with Android for some time now, and WP7 is even my main OS on the phone, the video quality is great, it's sharp, (once in a while skips some frames, but definitely better than others), but has a bad hue, it's violet-greenish, as can be seen on youtube if you'll search HD2 720p recording...
And these are my fifty cents to the topic.. And as a wrap-up i can easily claim that i still don't believe in miracles, untill i'll get clear proofs or i'll just try it by myself..

Have you even read nickriley's post? That video proves nothing. 720p recording is useless at an FPS of 1-3, and so is a topic once more showing it is doing just that, which has been known for days already.
