Will I void the insurance on my sprint touch if I install WM 6.5 ?
And does 6.5 work well on the touch?
And while I'm at it, How do I get the touch to automatically go to speaker phone, without having to select speakerphone at the beginning of each and every call??

i don't know if you'll void your insurance but 6.5 works very nice on the touch.

It won't void your warranty as long as you flash back to stock rom before taking it in for any service. I have never even given thought to voiding a warranty because I just back up whatever custom rom I have, flash back to stock, service the phone, flash back to the custom, and restore the data.
As for the direct to speaker option, I've never heard of it, but I'm sure it's just a matter of finding the right registry item to edit.
The problem will be if you break the phone in a way that you can't flash back but they can repair it and see that it's something else, like if the data/charging port gets damaged.
I personally don't like 6.5, I've used NSFans roms. Just don't like it

Just out of interest, has anyone ever returned a phone with non htc software or hspl still flashed and had issues with the warranty?
Would be interested to hear what your experiences are.
Thanks
I haven't but I believe I saw posts from others which said that if you send in an HD with an unofficial ROM/SPL than htc tends to void the warranty on the phone. Hence why there's the stock ROMs/SPLs in the wiki...so you can flash to your original settings in case you need to send it back.

Thanks for your reply. Thats fine, if you are able to flash back to the original ROM, but i suspect many returns are due to failures resulting in not being able to flash back to stock ROM.
i dont i just do whatever and the dont question me.
I had an early version of one of Duttys roms still on me phone when I returned it for a replacement.
The phone speaker didn't work and HTC still replaced phone for me.
However I wouldn't go on this as I'm sure HTC knew it was a hardware problem rather than a software one which may have been why I got away with it.
Would definately recommend reverting back to stock rom & SPL before returning
Yes I have issues, sended it in with Stock rom but forgot the HSPL. The problem is a Black Screen sometimes (heat I guess). Eurotwice sended me a BIGG bill to repair the mainboard, warranty voided because of illegal software.
Grrrr don't know what to do.

Today I used my HD like always. When I picked it up and tried to unlock it, the screen did not react. It does not react to any kind of push on the touchscreen or on the 4 touch buttons. The device starts as it has always, but I can't do anything with it. In the last couple of days I have not installed any additional software, so that can't be it either.
Soft resetting does not work either.
The device is fully loaded, has updated original rom.
Can anyone help me
Try HardReset (VolUp+VolDown then 1click PowerOn, follow display): if this isn't usefull -> Customer Service
D'rath
PS: HR erases all
After the hard reset the screen goes to a message saying: tap screen to set up your device.
I still can't tap the screen so the hard reset ends there...
Is there someone who knows a solution, if not I will have to send it back to the factory or something.
i had that bother with mine, it turned out that it was the orange rom that was causing all the problems. I put in dutty's 3.4 and that solved it
My provider is T-mobile. This means no special rom is on my hd. Is it wise to put Dutty's rom on my hd, with the thought that i might want to sent it back to HTC? Can I after putting Dutty's rom on it and finding out it still does not work put another rom on there leaving no trace of dutty's rom?
If you still have the original rom on it, seems to me that the best option is to send it off under warranty.
+1 Anfloyd say true ^^
Better solution if under warranty

Most likely a fault with the digitizer. Happened to mine and quite a number of others. I had mine fail and had to get it repaired.
Than that is what I will do.
Thanks for the advice all!

I have same problem with my HD!
So what was cousing problem - software(ROM) or hardware?
And did waranty cover it?
I have this with most of the newer ROMs and with all W6.5 roms.
Try to flash to a version from around april of this year.
I have this problem also - luckily for me I live in Milton Keynes and the HTC repair centre is just round the corner from me. I have taken it there for repair under warranty. Will let you know what they say when I get it back....which hopefully will be today.
Hi guys ,
i have the same problem .
Touchscreen stopped to work. It was up but not possible to tap anything.
I think to change digitizer and then all the lcdscreen.
Is possibile to change only the digitizer ?

yes it is possable to change the digitizer but it is easier to replace both digitizer+lcd
hi, ever since last week, my screen has been going black.. the phone is still working because i can hear the sounds etc.. but the screen wont come on.. if i turn it of and on again, different things happen, sometimes it remains black.. sometimes everything is upside down and back to front on the screen... or sometimes it will go back to normal..
but its happenning quite often..
thanks..
unless you are comfortable opening your HD up and replacing parts there is nothing at all you can do, just send it back to your supplier or HTC under warranty

I would reccomend trying a hard reset before either of those options.
yeah ive done hard reset.. new firmware etc... if i send it back under warranty... do i have to put original firmware on it? i would open it up if it involved screws but as i understand it its stuck together right?

I would only open up device as a last resort and if you know what you are doing, as once you open it you void warranty.
I would restore stock SPL and then return phone under warranty

As above, make sure you have a stock SPL and stock rom on your phone before returning it, otherwise they may refuse the warranty repair
if you send it back , put the old stock rom on which is on duttys site. i believe he has the old orange one somwhere on there after that, do the stock spl.
My screen too i`m shocked. It`s massive problem now.

Unfortunately, there is still no solution or diagnosis, but this way we can keep it all in one thread.
i called htc technical support today.. my phone is under warranty, but i told her my phone has a few dents around the edges where i dropped it on several occasions will this void the warranty.
she said is it likely that they will void the warranty due to accidental damage...
is it worth sending my phone? does anyone know how much a repair for this would cost? i think its hardware related..
I'm going to be getting the HTC hero from Orange in 30 days time. Here is the link it seems to be the only one in Graphite is the colour the only difference?
I have another question I will be getting it on contract and with it being a windows phone I would like to add apps and themes update stuff etc. If I was to add an App that was downloaded would this void it from getting fixed?
- Thanks

There's no difference in the spec, but branded phones have branded software ROMS installed, but can be replaced if you want to. This may void warranty, not sure though.
HTC Heros are Android devices, NOT Windows Mobile.
But NO,... Installing downloaded apps wont void warranty.
Technically installing another rom does void your warrenty, but your fine so long as we install the official rom back before sending it in for repair etc
When you first get the phone check what your version number is (in the menu -about section) then see if you can root the easy way. (ask if your not sure) then if you are I would recommended doing it as if you update to the latest orange ROM it becomes more complicated to root.
And remember you can always go back to default if your worried about voiding warranty, its easy as running a .exe on your pc

The graphite version does not have a Teflon coating.

Surely that's not strictly 100% true. If the fault in question makes it impossible to flash the device before returning it for repair, then you could be in sticky waters - unless the phone's so far gone they don't notice. Hopefully this is only a small risk, but still, it might put some people off custom roms.

yes your right
however as long as your phone still powers on and you can connect to your pc you will be able to run the ruu regardless of having a working screen or buttons etc so really unless your phone won't power on you should in theory always be able to flash the RUU
So, i went into T-Mobile today because the touch screen on my phone is completely unresponsive. They are sending me a new one and i have to return my old one in the box that they provide.
Now, i was asking the tech rep inside the actual store and he said that he thinks me having a custom rom on my phone wont void the warranty. We went and read ALL of the fine print together on T-Mobile's website regarding warranties and found NOTHING against custom software on the phone. The only thing that would void the warranty and charge me $320 something is if the screen had physical damage preventing it from functioning correctly.
Just wanted to double check with you guys, and, just to be safe would flashing a stock rom put me on the safe side?
I'm on Vodafone and had exactly the same issue, I flashed a stock ROM back on and sent back to Vodafone.
The phone had to be sent back to HTC due to "corrupt firmware" and they could not fix.
I received my phone back fixed FOC, not sure if that would have been the case with a cooked ROM on the phone.
There is a lot of conversation on the forums about flashing back to avoid warranty issues
Better to be safe than out of pocket

Of course it would put you on the safe side.
If I was you just flash the stock ROM.
Ore certainly make attention that HSPL (in case it is install) is removed.
Because HSPL brake your warranty
I had a similiar issue. My phone went dead a few weeks ago. Wouldn't take a charge or turn on (no idea why, I woke up and the phone acted like this). I called tmobile, they sent me a new phone and I shipped them the broken phone with android nand installed. They haven't said a word so it looks like it went through
