HTC Diamond

Damn that new HTC Diamond looks impressive (http://www.htc.com/europe/product.aspx?id=46654). Anyone know if it will be possible to rip the software/rom out of it and install on our Polaris'es?
"Nothing is impossible, what's impossible just takes longer time."
normally htc should put this diamond in new rom wm.6.1 if they will do it, I ask them but they answer (we are working hard....)
More info from London:

It looks damm good indeed.
Hope the firmware can be used for the Polaris..only the camera is a 3.2mp..that's a bit low for a new model if u ask me..other gsm's work with 5mp at this moment.
And also the polaris has a 3.2 mp already.
It WILL have WM6.1 but... it is too soon to talk about software for this upcoming device.

Damn impressive handset. I was wondering how much of native WinMo interface available to end user? The less is better, I suppose

Diamond is VGA device, so i'm not sure that it will be possible to use GUI from it on Cruise which is QVGA.
Also question is about acceleration and drivers, cause this features would be really slow on Cruise.

Touch Cruise has 4 times less pixels than Diamond.
Processing power shouldn't be the limiting factor.

The manila interface was out for a couple of months ago, but nobody was able to port it into a Kaiser:

I think it was time to release a new designed model, the formers models were not so beauty, finally an answer from HTC to the new requirements of the market.
Good Luck HTC....!!!

HTC Touch Upgrade??

ok guys and gals I hope all have had a good festive period!!
here’s my question, I have just been offered a free upgrade by orange uk to the htc touch hd, I currently have the htc diamond.
it has been my first WM phone and I must say I am true convert. I have been looking longley with envy at the htc touch hd and I am defo going to own one; but with it being so new to the market I was wondering if any else has done the upgrade and wished they had waited a bit longer for a more stable product.
as i'm not that experienced at putting on ROMs does the one shipped with the orange branded phone work well??
or should i wait untill orange bring a 2nd Rom like they did with the diamond and untill android is fully working on the phone??
thanks for any advice given!!
I think shipped Roms aren't good (enough) at all. I like the possibility to flash another rom, whenever I want to.
So I would not put any stress on the shipped rom, there are already so many great cooked roms out there, so that is really no problem.
Flashing a cooked rom isn't a problem, it takes 10 minutes, if you know what to do, else you will have to read through the wiki, but it is really managable.
so does any one have any views on if the upgrade from the touch diamond to the touch hd is it worth it right now, or is it better to hang fire for a while untill the android os and a good offical rom from orange is out??
I still have the standard htc rom on my HD, version 1.14 and it is stable as can be, I don't feel any need to flash it. All you need to do is make a few tweaks and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it. My HD somehow feels a little bit faster than a diamond, eventhough they have the same hardware inside and might I say inspite of the higher resolutions screen.
Given the choice I would pick the HD over the diamond any day, the extra big screen is well worth the price premium you pay over a diamond

I too find 1.14 to be faster than most cooked ROMs. Perhaps 1.14 is faster than 1.19.

hello everyone!
i'm also offered an upgrade from my old nokia n95, but i'm a little hesitant as i already have an htc touch diamond on another contract with orange. will it be practical to own both the htc touch diamond and the touch hd? i was initially eyeing the samsung omnia but it will cost me over £100 on my current tariff, whereas they can give me the touch hd for free. i've been having this "dilemma" for like a month now and im still undecided. anyone who can give me their views, i'd be grateful.

Touch HD or Hero for my first Touchscreen phone?

ok,,,, finaly out of my 18 month contract and can now get something new and shiny to replace my ageing N95
Was looking seriosly at the Touch HD....... but now the Hero has come along and i cant decide what to do ;0(
I know a little about windows mobile... but nothing about Android...
I just want a nice phone with a good screen... ( i belive the Hero is capacative which is better than resistive? or nicer to use at any rate.. )
But with the Android OS... can i still load in 3rd party apps and software like i can with my N95 symbian OS?? ,, i have things like Garmin XT route GPS program and things like that? can that all still be used on Android phones? or are they more like the iphone and can only take specificaly written stuff for that OS?
If you were buying your first Touchscreen atm... what would you choose out of the hero or Touch HD?? or is there somethign else i should maybe be considering?
Many thanks

HTC Touch HD 2 will come with Android

Hi guys,
Just seen this:
http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-Touch-HD2-to-Come-With-Android-120990.shtml
that is just blablabla
htc leo is the htc hd 2
http://htcpedia.com/news/rumor-alert-new-image-of-htc-leo-slider-phone.html
Actualy those both are partly rumors!!!
I really hope that HTC dont mess up Leo with drivers (no drivers for HW)
And I really hope that those rumors about HD2 with android are bassed on truth!!!
anyways Im gona stay with my HD for a few years, cuz right now Im saving up some money for a Yamaha WR125X (or R)!! Of course if the economical situation will get better Il get myself a Leo or HD2 or something with Tegra!!!

if that is true, someones got there wires crossed. The HD2 is rumored to have a possessor in the neighborhood of 628 and the Leo is supposed to have the 1g possessor. They are different phones based on what I have read
it should have multi-touch, hw drivers or nothing new compare with touch hd
HTC all we want is
1-powerful CPU (800mhz or up)
2-graphics card
3-qwerty keyboard
4-big battery
5-thin device
6-3.6 screen will be OK (to make the device smaller and not wide)
that will be perfect device and NO one will change it

Guys,
It is always hilarious when someone posts this. It's like asking for sugar-free sugar. It ain't gonna happen. You either get a thick device with a keyboard, or you don't get a keyboard and get a slim device.
Cheers.
