hey guys i was using this tutorial http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-root-the-mytouch-3g-or-g1-in-one-click/
and then i used http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/ho...ps2sd-onto-your-g1-or-mytouch-3g-best-method/
and i got stuck after i updated my spl
here is what i get when i do power+camera
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT 1.33.2005
CPLD-4
RADIO2.22.19.261
HBOOT
BACK FASTBOOT MODE
oh yeah and i didnt install the radio update because it said i didnt need it, however i did install the spl update
Download and install RC29 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480 and continue to use that guide until it says What To Do Now That You Have Root. When you get to that step download Cyan 4.0.4 instead of the ones linked.
I think all his problem is he needs to reflash a new rom. Once you install the new spl it overwrites your existing rom causing you to be stuck at the g1 screen. Flash a new rom and you should be cool.
Whats up FingerLickin, ready to get this day started. Gridlock told me he aint gonna be on til round 8 tonight. So its me, you, and codini and maybe david might pop in.
I agree with supreme's suggestion, ignore my half asleep post above.

what rom would you suggest?
Cyanogen rom's are a good start. There's stable and experimental available.
okay, thats what i did.
thanks everybody i thought i was scr3wed for a second there.
No problem at all, and your never screwed when you got the wreckin crew.
And if you are screwed we will rub it in your face.

The same thing happened to me. I completely bricked it. Couldn't get into fastboot. Phone wouldn't even turn on, computer wouldn't recognize it, LED's would not come on when plugged into charger or phone. It was that bad. I just went to the T-Mobile store and said that it got like that over night when I left it charging. They sent me a new one under buyer's remorse. It worked out great for me. As for how it did it, I did it the same exact way you did. When applying the 32B radio I didn't flash the radio right. Idk if you read Amon_Ra's guide on how to root it. He didn't specify at first how to flash the radio so when guessing I broke it. Then a few hours later he then posted how to flash it. Just my luck! But I now have a new mytouch and when I followed his directions exactly for the 32B, it went off like a charm. 32B is necessary if you are going to run Hero roms because it is expecting the extra RAM to push it harder. Not so sure about Non-Hero Roms but I believe it might be the same thing. If your phone is as bad as mine, just use the same excuse. They will think it is a defective handset and send you a brand new one, not a refurb. I tried everything to get back into fastboot but I couldn't get the damn thing to start up. It was a sad day. We now have 3 rooted myTouch's that are working great. Hope this helps.
try removing battery for 1 hr and power it up again
You should PM that bloke who's got "have a problem with Android? PM me" in his sigfile. I'm sure he'll fix you right up.

haha how ironic
if you have insurance on the phone...smash it and send it back. make sure the mobo is broken though and not just the screen. if not, well...sorry to hear about your new paper weight.
trying my hardest not to flame here, but.....
specify the guide you followed... a link to it would be a good start
state exactly what steps you did
state what conditions have occured (eg. stuck on logo, wont even power, etc)
state the actions you have taken to try to repair (sometimes you can make things worse but at least we'd know what you've done)
it's rather inconsiderate to not take the time to post these essential points.
you are expecting us to spend more time thinking and explaining your problem then you have bothered. not cool.
i concur..i try my best not to flame people, but in some situations, such as this one, a flame is appropriate....
i have bricked my HTC Magic while i was trying to flash this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549591)
but i guess i missed/skipped and had the wrong radio, so then after that all i get is a HTC Magic boot up screen and nothing else.
non of the button combinations work, i cant get to fastboot or recovery using the buttons.
is there anything i can do? any suggestions?!
P.S I DO have a Nandroid Backup (if that can help)

Nandroid backups are useless unless you can get into recovery, or perhaps fastboot through a PC. But if you're bricked like these guys...then that's not possible.

I don't think a flame is necessarily appropriate... Obviously the guy is distraught and doesn't know what else to do and is looking for support - not the time to get on him for not following the right protocol.
I understand your frustration, but try to understand his as well... if you don't want to help, then just let it go - somone else most likely will.
I bricked in the first hour, just think how i feel looking at the phone. $600 for a phonedummy
you gonna tell us what you did to brick it? what radio you applied? What methods you used?

Hey guys,
Few of you in the cyanogenmod irc room the other night might have recalled me totally bricking my t-mobile mytouch by pulling the battery after a reboot... dumbest thing I have ever done. I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable linux geek, but unfortunately I panicked and did the worst possible thing, pulling my batt and completely bricking my phone.
I was installing the 4.1.999 cyanogen mod. Phone was so toast it wouldn't charge. Status led's wouldn't work, it was 100% toast. Fortunately I was able to have it replaced and would like to try again in a day or so.
Here is a video showing exactly what I did, please excuse the length of the video it goes from start to finish, backing up and flashing everything, up until the point where I pulled the battery. I'd love to know what I did wrong, so I can try again!
View the video here on vimeo -> http://vimeo.com/7022688
Ok, here's what you did wrong:
The first steps are good... You've installed the 1.6 update, then applyed the cyanogen rom... After that I've seen that it was installed a new radio... That might have killed your phone...
At least that appears to be the problem... But why a new radio was installed, no idea... (I don't think you did it on purpose)...
the phone you have there is a magic not a dream. For a start that dosnt help!! Other than that i think yiou have put Dream radio on the device, It not being a dream is the problem as when it detects its the wrong radio the phone goes into a safe mode where it wont turn on to save breaking it.
HTC might fix it under warranty as they did me but it WILL come back with perfect spl on.I have flashed the wrong radio on 2 phones yes 2! now i learn from my mistakes Oh and when/if it gets fixed and you bypass perfect spl, You cant put any ROM Other than donut based ones so no hero takes the fun out of flashing
All bricks I've seen are because you guys install new( in most cases wrong radio- from different phone or MotherBoard version) or changing SPL (exception: people with perfect SPL). I'm asking WHY you do this , WHAT FOR ? Putting different rom /rooting etc does NOT require changing anything and is simple as bread and butter, and you CAN'T damage the phone !! Sorry to see this I'm not 100% sure but it looks like you have flashed with wrong radio. As my predecessor said I think only HTC can fix it... To all people DO NOT TOUCH SPL AND RADIO IF YOU JUST WANT TO PUT HERO ROM OR ROOT THE PHONE (exception ppl with perfect SPL)
i accidently flashed the radio for ION on my 32A last week. got my phone fixed under warranty thank god. but i got the perfected SPL.
if you do get the perfected SPL, you dont really need to change your SPL to flash stuff on your phone.
just replace your recovery using the recovery flasher apk a.k.a the one click root.
reboot to recovery, flash a new ROM that is rooted.
then using the adb shell method, flash a new recovery permanently to your phone.
i have had no issues using that method since i got my perfected SPL.

after applying the 4.1.999 update you pressed the trackball to reboot your suppose to hold the home key while its rebooting on that step till the mytouch screen shows up also you need to wipe the ext. redo the last step then the my3g should be fine in other words reflash the cyanogen
u install wrong recovery
Install instructions for an HTC Magic (32B ONLY!!!)/ION/MyTouch3G
Same as above if you are using CM-Recovery 1.4.
OR
Same as above EXCEPT step 2
Download HTC ADP 1.6 DRC83 http://www.androidspin.com/downloads...ooted_base.zip
*You have to manually reboot MT3G and hold home.
he can use the ra recovery image it works because i used it on mine
Turns out I used the wrong recovery image before doing the cyanogen flash.
I followed this guide on my second phone (swapped out my old white one for a black mytouch) and am running 4.1.999 right now - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4666075&postcount=282
My phone shut off and has not been able to turn since. I tried flashing a ROM and didnt relive after that. Please help.
What do you mean it doesn't turn on? What happens when you hold the power button?
it doesn't boot ...it is as if it were dead
Check to make sure it is charged and the battery is installed properly. I have had the battery so dead that it didnt even vibrate to indicate booting.
Yeah. Let it sit on the charger for a few minutes, make sure battery is in right and everything is plugged.
Check for amber LED, let it charge a few minutes, then try again and do it like that every couple minutes. If nothing still, buy a new battery or exchange it.
nothing so far ...ive scheduled an appointment to repair ...i know they wont be able to do anything for this phone. I wanted to see if I can avoid not having to give up my HTC hero and deal with a replacement phone for a while.
ummmm, how did this happen?
you may not want to say for fear of bashing but I promise I won't, as far as I've seen it takes a very unique set of circumstances to actually brick these things
EDIT: my prediction: you tried to flash a GSM rom onto it
so when attempting to get the download file for the Eclair 2.1v1.5 rom it stated that the radio posted is recommended. Prior to flashing the radio i did a nandroid backup and then I flashed the radio. During the flash screen (open box to phone image) it blacked out after about 20 seconds.

So my theory is that this nOOb flashed the GSM radio. Here is what he did.
He seen the post on the Eclair 2.1v1.5 rom on our forums and got click happy. Clicking on the link under that thread for the GSM ROM.

And i suppose you didn't flash a recovery img after rooting? Well next time you will learn to read.
Have you tried booting into recovery and doing a nandroid restore?
i've never heard of a bricked CDMA hero... but i guess flashing a GSM radio would do the trick
ok i searched and this may be the FIRST EVER bricked CDMA htc hero!
correct me if i'm wrong but i couldn't find anything on google about this.
maybe we should sticky this, or delete that link to the gsm rom so this doesn't happen again?
yeah i guess i did flash a gsm rom which definitely pwnd my phone ...i did everything possible. hard reset buttons. basically couldnt do anything with adb as the phone was completely shut off so no way to connect. Well all in all i learned my lesson. The techs at the sprint store couldnt do anything to fix the original phone so they said what the heck and provided me with a brand new google branded hero.
We all have done it!

How does a radio flash stop a phone from turning on?
Isn't the whole point of a recovery mode, to be able to "recover" if something goes wrong.
Shame on you whitewidows, for bashing him... The whole reason people get things working is because of trail and error.
If anything he helped us all by confirming that a wrong radio flash will completely ruin your recovery console, possibly bootloader, and (maybe even some actual hardware).
Hopefully this doesn't discourage users from trying to hack our radio.
ok im starting to lose my mind... here is what i have tryied
***i have the gold card made***
hxxp://rootyourmagic32a.blogspot.com/2010/04/root-htc-magic.html
this was going great right untill step 8 and it said file not found
even tho i was looking right at it
8. Now copy the SPL to your memory card.
adb push update-hboot-1762007-signed.zip /sdcard/
just cant get past that part...
then i went to
hxxp://theunlockr.com/2009/08/14/how-to-root-your-mytouch-3g/
and did everything it said and BAM it says i have an older version.
so i try to get the update from HTC to get the sense ui back and now it says my serial number is incorrect so it wont let me get the download...

If you get to step five or six and it wont write the recovery to the phone redo the first few steps.
I had the 1.76.0010 perfected SPL
32a Magic
It worked pretty good for me.
well i got root and installed the CyanogenMod 5.0.8-final Stable and not its just looping the "htc magic" boot thing i can still get into fastboot and that but wont get past boot
Try Booting into the recovery that you installed (end+home) and wipe your phone and davlik cache. Then re flash the ROM, if that doesnt work re-do what i just told you and try a differnt ROM.
ok so wiped with delvik cash and tryied 2 other roms and still no luck.. can you point me in the direction of a working rom for the rogers htc magic and then ill try that.
thanks for your help hope i can fix it
First of all make sure the roms your flashing are for the correct radio you have and spl (i have 6.35 and the 1.76.0007 spl.) Im using SuperEclair v8.2 and its great.
ok downloading the rom now.
my phone is
hboot-1.76.2007
cpld-12
radio-6.35.08.29
Defs the same as mine (i had my spl wrong in the previous post)
well its not looping now.. its just sitting at the "htc magic" screen been about 1 min now, does it take long the first boot?
**edit**
it seems to be working. DUDE!!! I FREAKIN LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHA you are my fav person in the world
A while, it will reboot twice while you see the htc magic logo. Just be patient and it will finish.
lol im still laughing!!! im so happy
whats your paypal e-mail im sending you 10$
Haha dont have one I just felt like being nice
well then thank you very much!
Hiya guys,
I'm sorry that, like most other threads of this nature, my first post is a "HELP ME!" type affair.
Having issues with my HTC Vodafone Magic, when I turn it on it goes onto the Vodafone splash screen and no further.
Before I start asking about installing a new ROM and all that stuff (of which I have no clue whatsoever), I found this in the FAQ sticky and was wondering if it applies to me:
Q- I cant go past the first splash screen and i cant move into recovery or bootloader
A- Say goodbye to your phone, it is bricked.
Remedy- PM me maybe i can help you get a new phone (already got a new phone after bricking)

Is there any hope for fixing my phone?
Thanks for looking at this thread.
Tony
yes there is... you should be in a good shape...
What have you done to get to this state?
I'm unsure what you mean?
What have you done to get into this state...
E.g.
Did change anything in the rom?
Did you flash a sappimg.zip?
Did you just wake up and the device was like that?
Did your dog mess up your device while you were sleeping?
What did you do to get into this state?
My bad.
I bought the phone second hand, bloke said he'd tried updating the software but it hadn't worked.
My phone was working fine the other day, and mid-conversation on a phone call it turned itself off. Tried turning it back on but it just goes to the Vodafone splashscreen and no further.
Tried doing a hard reset, but the phone looks for some .zip files and says "no image found!" for every folder it looks through.
There was an App on the phone called Clockwork, which is something to do with ROM changing.
Cheers for your help so far!

You need to get fastboot up and running so that we can grab some information off the phone, but like mumi said, its fixable. Get fastboot installed (a search will aid you there) and myself or mumi will post back with what to do next. Hope your familiar with navigating DOS as your about to get a crash course if not.

you can fix it through fastboot.
try to flash recovery into your g2 first
Hiys guys, sorry for taking so long to get back.
Work has been hectic so unable to sort anything out, ended getting a Desire HD on contract in the end.
Will be keeping the Magic to play and learn with, but for the forseeable future I'm swamped with work, so I will get back on here and sort the thing out when I can.
Thanks for your help so far guys, I will return! DOS will be a new experience for me
