sooooo...after posting the issue in a previous thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4416175#post4416175)and extensive searching i was stumped:::i recently received my Mytouch (tmobile) and flashed cyanogens latest recovery/rom (AMAZING) but i was having an issue with my 3g going in and out periodically at random times...id be in the same spot and all of a sudden my 3g service would die the data being sent was fine but no data was coming in (two lil arrows that turn white) then after about 20 minutes itd turn back on for a while but then turn right back off...so i searched and searched and searched............and reflashed and rebooted and wiped and wiped and re-falshed and nothing...then i checked everything i could think of as far as "tmobile" settings specifically the APN settings...figured out that the APN settings were exactly alike except for one difference under the "password" i had (****) and every thread said it should be blank so i deleted it and problem gone, 3g thus far is working great and consistent WOOOO FIXED!!!

Lately I have noticed my N1 has been dropping a lot of calls everyday. When this happens, my 3G icon disappears and comes back about 30 seconds later. It's as if it loses connection to the network and comes back.
I can't for the life of me remember if this started happening before I upgraded to 2.3.3 (OTA) or after. I believe it's been going on before that but I can't be sure. I kept blaming my friends that it was their phones dropping calls but after paying closer attention, it appears to be my phone instead.
I am with Rogers, not rooted (stock) running 2.3.3.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
First option would be a factory reset. Then revert to an old build and see if the problem occurs there too. Then upgrade accordingly and see if it's fixed.
Thanks for the reply. Where can I get a 2.2 stock image?
I have tried several ROMs and the same problem occurs too. So I think it's TMobile's network problem.

Just in case, check if your carrier's APN are configured correctly.
Ok so i have done a factory reset late last night. In the next day or two while using my phone, I should probably find out if the reset did the trick.
Just to reiterate, I am with Rogers (in Canada) running 2.3.3. My APN settings are correct as well.
Also, I did already notice something odd. When you go to Mobile Network Settings, and then choose Access Point Names, I see my Rogers APNs (one for the network and one for tethering). I then click on the Rogers network APN where I see all my APN settings. So far so good. Then, I don't touch anything, and the weird part is as soon as I hit the back button taking me back to the APNs screen, my 3G icon disappears for a few seconds, comes back this time white in colour (as well as the signal meter), and a few more seconds later both the 3G icon and singal meter turn green again. Is this normal? Is this perhaps a bug in 2.3.3 that might be contributing to my problem?
I was hoping if anyone out there can test and see if their n1 does the same thing. Thanks.
HI ALL, Im pretty new here. after so many tries finally i was able to install cm7.1 on my defy. but im facing some issues. before the installation i forgot to take a back up of the existing ROM so if i have to go back to the previous ROM how to do that? and also there is no network coverage after the installation. please please anybody help!!!!!!
Have a vibrant myself but I'm helping a buddy get cm7 on his defy and after flashing didn't have a network signal. I looked at the cm7 install guide and it referenced a defy base band switcher app for better coverage. Had him try that and he got his data connection back. Might want to look into it or read the guide.

If your previous ROM was stock that came with your phone, flash the corresponding SBF file from the sticky on the Dev section to go back to stock. If it was some other custom ROM, wipe data/factory reset in CWM and flash the old ROM. Make backup of your apps using Titanium Backup if you want.
For CM7 network issues, choose the correct baseband from Defy Baseband Switcher. For India, pick anything that is 900/2100MHz...
Also, make sure you have read as many guides and First Posts on important threads as you can. Here is a collection of good threads you can read for these questions, and more that you might get later:

Hello! Noob here as well.
I installed CM7.1 stable on my Defy (running 2.2.2 foryo) 2 days ago.
All went well, except that network connection is lost after a couple of minutes after boot. Sometimes it takes an hour or two but I still end up with no connection.
I've googled everything about it in the last days. I played with the Baseband Switcher and although most options in the BB Switcher work right after a reboot, it still looses the signal after a couple of minutes.
One thing I noticed, when the signal is lost, trying to set the "Airplane mode" will fail. If trying to set Airplane ON - the notification icon will not replace the signal icon and will also be unable to set Airplane OFF (since it didn't finish turning ON).
I also noticed that if I force stop the "Dialer" system app, then the Airplane notification ico shows up, but still there's no way to turn it OFF (it's disabled in the menu). After a reboot Airplane can be set OFF and everything works for another small period of time (..until baseband crashes again?).
Hope it makes some sense. I'm quite sure this is not an operator issue or hardware related, since my Defy worked just fine before CM7.1
Also, I am located in Romania, operator is Orange.

I have the same issue, except that it is much rarer (ranging from every other day, to even a month between such incidents). It can also be triggered sometimes when I turn off Wi-Fi and the device tries to regain mobile data connection (not sure if it matters, but I set the network mode to 2G on my phone). The battery drain is increased if this occurs without the user noticing - the phone seems to search in vain for the signal.
Using the latest SEA baseband on M1 (Singapore).

I get this problem too. Happens every so often when I'm at work. I've always put it down to a bad signal where I work but as I always turn the wifi of before leaving home it could be down to that. If anyone has any solutions it would be great
Ok, a little update on this:
At the office now, further playing with the Baseband Switcher, I ended up selecting "Italia RT 2.51.1" which has the same 900/2100 freq that my operator requires and it seems to work. Even getting 3G.
If "2.51.1" is some sort of protocol version, then all the other options I've tried were either 4.x or 3.x or even 2.21.x ..and none of them worked for more then 30 minutes.
Also, not sure if signal strength has something to do with this because I did a test, going to the basement of my office in order to loose signal, then back up and it worked - got the signal back, without reboot or anything.
Also, I would really appreciate if someone could explain in a few words what those version numbers mean (ex: "Italia RT 2.51.1"), as I know nothing about gsm bands and protocols.
UPDATE: Back home, lost signal again, after a whole day without any problems. Funny.
UPDATE 2:
So after much google searching and trying literally every option in the Baseband Switcher, I switched my SIM card with a friend's SIM and guess what.. IT WORKED! Even more, when I inserted my original SIM into the other phone after a few minutes it lost signal, too! It was a faulty SIM, that has just started to "die".
Conclusion:
- Keep playing with that Baseband Switcher until you get something that works for you.
-Make sure your SIM is working properly in other phones, otherwise ask your operator to replace it.
Thanks and hope this helps.
ZeDevil did you try using other Basebands to see if you get better battery life ?

Not really. As long as you have a working Baseband selected (with correct frequencies) I don't think it matters.
But overall CM7.1 has better battery efficiency then stock ROMs, or at least that's what I felt.
update:
Well, I had a play with the baseband switcher, realising i was on 'international'. I switched to uk t-mobile and from there it seemed to work much better. A slight blip at work today (think it's a bit of a signal black-spot though) but restarted and it seems fine again. I've also just realised it's gone 37hrs since its last charge too
Strangely my other problem, the backlighting on the soft-keys not working, fixed itself at the same time. dunno if these two things are linked or not?
i use the CEE one.
I finally decided to flash TPT today. Did the backup, full wipe, flashed tpt-cm10-alpha-0.9.1.zip and immediately afterwards tpt-cm10-3gpatch-0.9.1.zip. Everything seems to be fine, the patch recognized the Ericsson card.
Now I'm trying to get mobile data working. I entered the APN settings and disabled Wifi to test. Unfortunately it does not. The 3G-symbol becomes gray (was blue while Wifi was enabled) and it sais: "No connection". I played around with the APN settings, rebooted the tablet a few times but no sucess. I wiped and re-flashed it again - no success.
I read about some people having the same issues - did any of you find a solution?
My provider is O2 Germany, my tablet is a 32 GB WE with 3G. If you need any additional information/screenshots/logs - just ask!
Thanks in advantage!
Alex

EDIT: Just flashed 0.8.1 - 3G's working fine. Will try 0.9.2 now...

EDIT2: With 0.9.2v 3G is broken again. So probably something has changed between 0.8.1 and 0.9?

Yes, 3g is working, no matter if wifi is turned on or off. On stock firmware I had a switch to turn 3g on and off below the clock (just like the wifi switch). Would love to see that one again in koshu's ROM.

That sounds like the issue I had with 0.9.x. Are you sure that you're on 0.8.1? And did you always do a full wipe before re-flashing?

I've done so much to it, I dont even remember. About to go do it now again.
Ive done things from installing stock rom back into it, and some unplesant things happen to it during thr process.. but its up now.. so maybe today Ill do a fresh run thru the 0.8 version
Don't know what I've done but.....
Somehow I have the tablet allowing me to make phone calls.
Before it would say "calls not supported"
Now after restoring, installing who knows how many times now I get "mobile network not available" (I'm in a no service area right now) will try when I get into at&t service tomorrow. I live in the dead zones plus I bought the wrong swan card... been looking for a Verizon one ...
If this does work... allowing me to make calls I'll share the backups with whoever wants to tweak it out some,
I do have random errors ie. Sometimes the bottom row with back home time etc crashes and comes back on.
Another is going thru system settings and that crashes but also comes back on.
The info from system is
2.6.39.4 kernel
4.1.2 android
10-121015 cyangen
Also other quirk is the blue shadow when you scroll is orange with a + sign
Ok I got back into AT&T Service area.
The tablet attempts to make the cal but doesn't.
But It does not say can not make a call either. So when I get enough posts Ill post a system image (backup) and maybe some developers can go thru it and see what it would take to just complete the link.
Also texting does not fail (sorta) it says sending but does not say it can not send
Well, where do we start...
Tmobile phone off contract- it's a d801 and I ended up going to cricket- LTE- voice/message- everything worked great after apn settings and a sim card
I went to the Bahamas and a cruise for about a week- no service except for WiFi
When I came back home- everything was weird and out of whack- it overheated a lot. data seems to be all right but it is overheating- I tried restoring the phone and upgraded it to lollipop, still the same. Voice Calls and reception is pretty bad indoors- I have the APN still in there, and the network stuff is all set to auto and automatic selection. What are your thoughts besides my phone may still be on vacation?
Also, my phone doesn't go into download mode anymore- i get the fastboot screen with errors
Also, the recovery doesn't work anymore- it get's ready to do something and then it throws up a dialog
And it's not rooted either
So I have a Huawei p8 gra-L09 with Huawei P8 [ROM][6.0] fRomFuture - Home that I installed a couple of months ago. Everything has worked perfectly up until recently when my phone does not find any 3g networks, only 4g. When I try to make a call it's stuck on 4g. I don't even know if my phone is the problem or if it's my carrier. I tried to call them, they said they "made the network better".... But the problem came back after 1-3 days again.
Can I solve this somehow? My phone is also rooted but that doesn't really matter I guess..
Check the fRomFuture thread, another guy in that thread has the same issue..
did you managed to get the issue resolved?
Well, nope. Turning of 4g sort of fixes the problem I think. The connection drops sometimes but most of the time it works. Also I changed to stock b392 because I could not turn off 4g in the build that was used in fromfuture - home for some reason. It automatically turned it on just after chabging to only 3g/2g.
Still doesn't work as intended though and I am 99.9% sure it is not because I don't know how to flash. Used adb and fastboot and unlocked bootloaders and whatever on so many phones since my first smartphone (htc wildfire).
Are you by any chance Swedish or scandinavian? Could it be that it is not compatible with the networks in some countries or something?

No i am in UK; i bleive the single sim version supports all the bands, at least here in UK; it is a phone i just bought off ebay and i can return it but I wanted to be sure it wasn't something that could not easily be fixed before doing so.
Hi again. I have sort of figured something more out about the problem. This morning 3G did not want to work again. So I googled, and googled and googled. Tried everything basically. Then I noticed that my APN settings are not what they were last time I set them(???). So I went into my carriers website. Set the correct apn values and removed any unnecessary values that did not seem to affect anything. Then it immediately worked again. Now I have no idea how phones sets the default settings but it seems like they are wrong? Maybe this was just random that it started working after applying the correct settings again. No idea, going to see if it works all day or if it randomly stops working as earlier.
Edit: 5 hours later still works and the connection hasnt stopped randomly.
Ok so it has worked for 13 hours. It's actually weird if the APN settings for 4g broke the 3g connection sometimes randomly throughout the day, right? I don't know how apn settings really work but I remember setting a port number and also changed the name of the APN so that I can be sure it does not change to something else.
ugh, I give up. Now it stopped working again since yesterday. It feels like it's my carrier but so many people have this problem so I guess it's something else..
Nevermind I don't give up. I found a solution . When 3g/calls stop working the phone usually gets really, really hot. So putting it in the freezer for a couple of minutes actually fixes the problem for me, atleast until the phone gets really hot again. I have tried it four times now and every time it has worked.
