hp ipaq 910c text problem - Sable

i've had this phone for a couple of weeks now and it keeps bugging me by not showing new texts i receive.
to check the texts i have to go into messaging and open up an old text message. sometimes the messaging app stops responding all together when i do that. at other times it opens the message and then it receives all the messages that had been piling up. this is real pain.
i am running the latest rom on the hp site. just updated it and it still didn't solve the issue.
any help is appreciated
thanks in advance.

Well if reflashing it does not help, I would look to send it back for a replacement. How long is "a few weeks" ?
You could also try one of the WM 6.5 roms and see if you have any luck there.

its been in my possession for 2 weeks... its my brothers and he never had a problem like this and he has had it for approximately a year.
as for the wm 6.5 roms... i have to get a micro sd card first... which ill do over the weekend.

Phone not working - unique problem!

hi,
a couple of days ago, my phone started showing some odd behavior.
1) SMS cannot be sent. No matter how many times I press the send button, the message just does not go through.
2) In settings, I cannot open the phone Tab. It just refuses to open up.
Otherwise, i can make calls and receive both, calls and sms. No problem.
I have been forced to use an SMS scheduler program to send sms for the last 3 days!
I even took my phone to vodafone, and got the SIM replaced. No luck!!
Please! All the experts.... need your expert advice! Thanks in advance!
ps! I used to use Schaps 3.57b rom for over a month. 2 days ago i moved to dutty's touch 1 rom, to find out if the problem is because of the ROM. Installed apps - GPRS monitor. Only!
PPS: After installing dutty's rom, everything was functioning for about 2 hours, till I restarted the system. Also, after installing the new SIM card, things were working on dutty's rom till I restarted the system!
I would start by doing a hard reset to see if that solves any issues.

Wing not opening messages :help:

Hey guys,
I flashed my wing a few weeks ago with just stable, and everything is fine. But today, i stopped recieving texts, and my messages will not open. When I touch the messages button, it just high lights, but doesnt open.
I tried going to start, then messages, and the same thing happens.
Also, it is not connecting to windows mobile device center.
Help please and thanks
Brandon
im actually flashing the wing now, to see if it will help me with my messages. Hopefully it will.
I just ended up reflashing it, and all is well.
In my experiences, this is a problem with most of not all WinMo devices...its like messaging just deletes itself or something I dunno.
So what I did was the best?

SMS Message Problem!

Hi guys,
I'm having some difficulty with sending SMS messages. Its sporadic. Sometimes they send immediately, sometimes not at all. Its very frustrating.
For example, the day I got the phone (last week) I sent 2 text messages. I didn't hear back from anyone but thought nothing off it. I checked my messages and they were time stamped with the time I sent them at so I presumed they had gone.
That evening, about 6 hours later, I got my two replies. The people had only just got them, hours later. One of them wasn't impressed because it was intructions for something they needed to do 4 hours previously!
So, I turned on delivery reports on each sent message to make sure they sent.
Over, the next two days, I had no problems, delivery reports come in immediately within seconds of me sending my SMS message.
Meanwhile, I called my network (Vodafone) to see if there were any issues with network. they reported none. I checked the message centre number and verified it against the network one. They matched, so I thought all was in order... except I would have to get annoying delivery reports cluttering up my Text message inbox until I was sure the service was working 100%.
Earlier today, I sent about 3 important text messages, got no delivery reports, so I texted my other phone to see if the messages were going through. Nada. I was annoyed.
I'm thinking.. whats going on?
So about 10 minutes ago I shut down the phone and booted up again. Within 10 minutes I was getting all my delivery reports and replies from people!
Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong, what setting needs to be activated etc?
Obviously I can't use the text messaging on the device if I can't trust it to just work like pretty much every handset I've owned since... year dot.
PS: I spoke to Vodafone care team who said my sim card must be old; newer sim cards (128k) are needed for these "high tech" phones.
But I just took my sim out of my Nokia N97 (never had a problem) last week AND messages ARE going through on the Leo occasionally and only after a reboot, which is utterly pointless.
This is the last thing I thought I'd have issues with on a device like this..
Any advice? Have I missed something?
Thanks.
Same here, I thought I messed up something in the sms service or so.
Done many hard resets and soft resets. But still no help.
I'm experiencing exactly the same problems. Also Vodafone and no one seems to get any sms from me.
Okay, this ain't good!!
since you both have vodafone, and I haven't seen/heard about other people having these problems, I'd say it was voda's fault

Now tell me, why? I've never had problems on my previous phones.
I don't think the vodafone on the Ireland branch is the same as the one in the Netherlands
Kinda happy to hear that you guys also having the same issue.
It can probally be patched/fixed by htc. I googled for "htc sms hotfix"
And htc is also facing sms issues on other devices.
sigh... How will I live without outgoing SMS capability? so lame... hope you guys will find a fix soon.
seems to be the same like the sms bug in previous manila 2.1 build. outgoing messages weren't send, but only on some specific providers.
How could such a fundamental and critical phone component get screwed up? That just doesn't make sense. Anyone got ideas out there for a fix or we we have to wait for HTC to patch this? What about people who purchased a Leo and have no knowledge of this site etc deal with something like this? They buy a 500+ euro phone, try to send a text message, no joy. Baffled, annoyed, frustrated. Phone would get returned right? Not happy.
I've had this same problem on ATT in the USA

Had? so it's fixed now?
Just had this problem on t-mobile UK. The thing is that if you're in conversation mode it actually gets inserted as if it's been sent. I looked in outbox and it was stuck there, even after pressing 'retry send'. I tried a reset but it was still stuck there, so i retyped the message and sent that, both ended up being sent, with the origanal sms being time stamped as if it was sent ages ago!
I sometimes have this problem too....
O2 here.
In case it helps, I'm not having any problems on 3UK. Are you all certain it's not a network issue?
Perhaps it is to be honest... and perhaps tapping 'resend' just makes it happen in the background so it just appears that it does nothing.
I still find of the most annoying things to be the fact that the auto capitalise new sentence option to not work.... it's bad for perfectionists!!

+1 !!
It might look like it's mainly vodafone but in the UK at least it by far the biggest network, therefore it's bound to affect more voda users. Only 15 posts and already i see vodafone, att, O2, t-mobile, different countries, different networks.
This is the same issue that I've had this week with my Touch Pro running the Leo ROM, the device seemed to be turning all my SMS into MMS and then not sending them, though the odd one would sneak through. The problem has been fixed with an update to the custom ROM I'm using. It's the Energy ROM by the way. I'll send the author a message to see if he can pop on here and offer advice on the problem.
same here O2 in my phone.. even receive some messages later.. pls help us someone

No, I have not made any changes that would have fixed the problem, but it is sporadic and only occurred twice a few days ago.
unfortunately same problem on o2 uk

SMS issue with updated rom 1.66 WHY??

Hi,
I updated my ROM as soon as it came out in January.
I have been using my HTC HD2 on and off over the last two months due to its niggles but thought I would give the phone one more chance.
To my dismay again - I having issues with sending and incoming text messages.
For example
There was about a 3 hour window today where I suspect I was not receiving any text or sending any.
I noticed this because I phoned vodafone to give me an automated SMS message to tell me how many mins I got left. But after 2 attempts and left it for 90 mins, no messages came through.
I also sent out a couple of texts but noticed the delivery reports were shown as not delivered. These were two several different people.
So I thought this must be my phone then.
I switched off my phone and back on again, voila the messages I had sent were delivered 30 secs after my phone was switched back on.
I phoned up Vodafone again to get automated text message - viola the sms came within 5 seconds.
Question
What cause the cessation of incoming and outgoing messages in that 3 hour window? Could an app/update running in the background could have caused this?
Is this a common issue even with the latest official ROM update? Is there a fix?
Please help as this issue along with short battery life is making me thing whether to get rid of phone.
But I also love the other features of the phone - for that reason I want this fundamental feature of sending/receiving SMS message to be resolved.
Thanks -rant over
that sounds just like the original sms problem.
did you use backup software when you upgraded? with the wrong settings, when you restore it can cause problems by writing back some old system files.
could be as easy as a hard reset.
no I did not use any backup software. literally just installed the new ROM and then had to install all my programs manually in again. any ideas? it does seem like the old sms issue as the problem is much less frequent but annoying nonetheless lol.

Sorry to hear all your disappointing references your having with your HD2.
I not long after getting myne when had rom 1.48 and now 1.66 never have had any SMS problems(although a fix was installed by HTC straight away apon purchase)
I then installed a app to disable Sence Sms (sorry cant find where i got it from) being processed by Sence as it created a few limitations i liked in windows sms .
Any way by shifting the total responsibility back to Windows Sms functionality > i have never to today experienced a single problem with stuck sms.
I hope this helps.
but my problem is very intermittent. could a program running in the background cause this issue
I have an O2 HD2 which came with ROM V1.43 i had no issues with sms. I installed the V1.66 ROM...still no issues! It may be something to do with your network? might be worth trying a different networks sim card to prove???
I thought the same but i have no issue with my old phone. strange huH?

[Q] HD2 Phantom Text Message??

Hello all. After two years, my first HD2 croaked (touchscreen went out) a few weeks ago. Called T-Mobile, got a refurbished HD2. Had backed up my first HD2 using SPB Backup, so restored to the refurbished HD2. Initially had a problem with a Voicemail notification that wouldn't go away, but managed to solve that issue with the help of T-Mobile Tech Support. I have Cookie's Home Tab (v 1.7) installed.
I'm getting a notification in Quick Links that I have a new text message. But when I open text messaging, there is no new message there. However, if I erase the last EXISTING message that I received, the notification usually goes away. I've looked through all my texts, but there isn't one that hasn't been accessed / read. It seems that the phone can no longer tell if a message is truly new, or old. Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated!
By the way, I've already taken the step of removing my SIM card from the HD2 and putting it in another T-Mobile USA phone to see if, somehow, there was a message on there. None found. Thanks!
