I have the new version which is v0.5.1 and I don't know how to use it. I've tried everything. Isn't this software suppose to lock whatever folder you want it to so that people can't go through them?
Keepass is a secure password storage app. It encrypts the database of usernames/passwords.

Ahh, I see now. Thanks for the reply.

Im looking for a program where I can set a password and add/remove files to the list?
This way I can protect contacts/certain documents etc....
Is such a program available?
There are encryption programs that you can encrypt any files that you choose. You need to start the program, decrypt the file before you can access it. And you need to remmeber to encrypt it back after that. Not very handy for freq access files, but I used that for some of my password and secret number documents that I don't access very often. And I like to have them in the Notes folder such that it will do sync with my pc incase that I loose it on the phone.
I have found this as well, trouble is I need frequent access so cant really use the encrypt/decrypt option, still on the hunt for a password program, any suggestions are much appreciated.
i was going through the system files and ran across this can anyone tell me what it is for ? thanks.
directly typed off my herald, lol.
it's for the SAP Settings in your programs folder. atleast i do have that SAP setting thing.
if you go to your programs it must be there. if it's not... i should say: make a backup off your progress and private stuff... then click the app you've found and see what it does. hope this helps you.
cheers!
Ok, apologies if this is a dumb question from a relative newbie.
I found a thread to download "HTCustom 1.8 cab" (by Shadowmite), and need some help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316416
1. It's a year since it was posted, so is it still valid and a recommended download? I have read that amongst other things it will allow me to not have sim contacts listed as well as phone contacts, as well as improve the volume of incoming calls, so I am keen to try it out, as long as there is absolutely NO RISK FACTOR (I can make do without it!).
2. HOW DO I INSTALL IT? I save it to my desktop. It's a zip file which when opened presents me with the 3 files "HTcustom.000", "ooocab90.001", and "setup.xml". What do I do now???
Apologies, but I've always used activesync to install cabs so am not sure what to do in this case!
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Matt.

If it is .cab so just copy it to your PDA and install it there.. don't extract the .cab
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Like I say, it's saved on my desktop as a zip file which when opened presents me with the 3 files "HTcustom.000", "ooocab90.001", and "setup.xml".
So... what part of it do I copy and where exactly in my pda do I put it? In My documents? On the Storage card?

It's not a zip, it's a cab, just that you have cab files associated with your archiver. Just copy the file to the device and tap it.
Hey Tnyynt.
To where, storage card or my documents?

Doesn't matter for copying, install it to your device though!
I've installed it, it did warn me that it may not work with Windows Mobile 6.1, and it seems it doesn't. Doesn't work on my device anyway, whatever the reason...
When I attempt to select any tweaks and save it, it just says error and asks me to quit the program! I'll contact Shadowmite and see if there is a WM6.1 version.
All I really want is to NOT have SIM contacts appear as well as phone contacts (so suprised there is not an option.. what's the point in having duplicates???)
Also, apparently there is a fix out there that improves the volume of incoming calls?
Advice anyone?

It must have something to do with Framework. Do you have it installed?
As for the sound issue, do you have WOW SRS installed? If not, what's your ROM version?
Regarding SIM contacts, here!
Hi there,
is there any real practical Crypt Software for Windows Mobile?
Something like TrueCrypt for Windows and Linux where i can create a container file with all my private data in it.
It would be great if the software could be used on a pc, too for changing files in a container on the Storage Card.
Thanks in advance
In Freeware's LAND, there will be 2 majors :
- KeyPass (open source, with PPC version compatible with desktop version...)
- CryptoCard (Works ok on WM5 and <), sometimes doesn't work on WM6 machine (but not all time, depends on the model...) : PC and PPC version
To have the same databse on PC and PPC, just put de data file(s) onto a sync folder
Visit http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com and you'll find hapyness
If these freebies are not enought for you, you'll find some shareware... But, why not try the free before ?
airscaner
negativ feedback:
FYI: there is one crypto app, called "airscaner"
Use whatever else but not this one...
I s*cked a big with this one...
cheers
Thanks for your answers
I'll give keypass a try at first.
Keypass is certainly the way to go!
I've been using it for a few years now under PPC, Windows and Linux - just sync the database file over. As a backup, I export the entries and keep them in a TrueCrypt file.
If you want file level encryption, you could also look at FreeOTFE which has Windows and PPC versions. However, unless you have lots of free main memory, I found that it was rather unworkable on the PPC.

So guys,
i have now tried both software, but i think you misunderstood me.
I meant a software where i can create a container file on my Storage Card for example and in that container i can store pictures, music or whatever sort of filetype.
I don't need a password safe.
Thanks for your help
AFAIK WM6 has some capability built in?
There are also one or two commercial offerings I think but the only free one I'm aware of is the FreeOTFE I mentioned in my last post. Just bear in mind my comment about memory - I think that you will only ever be able to create a small secured volume this way.
Here are some links to WM6 encryption:

Hope this helps.
FreeOTFE
I personally use FreeOTFE (http://www.freeotfe.org/) which creates a volume in which you keep all your files. Once loaded, it will mount the volume as a folder in your device.
The best thing about this is that it is compatible with the PC version too. I keep all my important documents on this and sync up the files with my desktop repository frequently
Of course, this is a one-way encryption and no decryption is possible once you lose your password.

What about this?

Didnt test it, but sounds good.
Thanks guys, i'll give FreeOTFE a try, first.
Another one is RescoFile Explorer (shareware)
But it can crypt file one by one, not a container...

Coolsva, how big a volume do you use? And what handheld are you using (specifically how much memory)?
I had real problems with it when I tried it until I realised that I had to have everything in memory (the application and the volume).

great post... gonna try this on my next phone [temp go-phone :>]
Well, The file explorer Voyager can encrypt and decrypt files. But I use Ccrryyppttoo (Dont ask about the name). Its simple and works good. They're both free at freewarepocketpc.net
Hi!
One of the most annoying things after a flash/HR is re-setting up my e-mail-accounts. So I'm searching a way to backup only SMTP and IMAP/POP-server, usernames, passwords SSL-settings and send/recieve-schedules. The mails do not have to be saved in the backup because I'm using IMAP only. Has anybody of you out there a good and simple solution to backup these settings?
I tried SK-tools but I think this program backups "too much" for my taste. I'm not a friend of solutions like Sprite-/SPB-Backup.
I'd be really very grateful for any help!! THX in advance!!

Try Sashimi. You can use this tool for more then only mail. You can make xml's with all the settings. After a hard reset import the xmls with sashimi and done. One tip dont put the password in the xml beacuse its plain text. So when you loose youre telephone they have your password. If you put the password in the xml first time you will sync windows will ask it and give it and enable "save password". When you are usign shashimi you can also use it to install your programs. Copy files. etc
And if you want to go further you can also use it to backup files before a flash.
Hi. Thanks for your tip. I read about SASHIMI yesterday for the last time and I was about to try it anyway. Thanks again.
