Well, my "Next-day delivery" Hero arrived this morning, slightly later than advertised.
You may have read my complaints about T-Mobile's shocking customer service in another thread.
Basically, I ordered a week last wednesday, had no phone by the friday so rang up to enquire......
...... and was LIED to by T-Mobile staff every single time I did.
I really was going to cancel not just my order but my contract too, such was the disgraceful way I was treated.
Eventually, the bloody thing shows up today.
Was it worth the wait though?

Vario II T-Mobile UK upgrade availability

I have been trying to get an upgrade for my tmobile account to flext20 + Web and Walk and a Vario II. I have agreeded a price but apparently you can't acutally order it untill they have some instock.
It was suppost to come in stock last weekend but last time called it still wasn't. They keep promasing to call me back when it comes in. But I still havn't herd anything.
As you can tell I am quite keen to get my hand on it. Reading this forum is not helping either with everyone talking about how good they are.
Has anyone managed to get a Vario II upgrade from T-mobile Uk (over the phone) this week.

Just phoned T-MOBILE for the exact same thing and they told me that they should be getting stock back in maybe next week.... hope this helps
I ordered the phone + contract from t-mobile's website yesterday. I'm not upgrading though; I'm a new customer.
Got the out of stock message once I submitted my order request. A bit disappointed but not totally surprised. Usually in these cases I would cancel and go start looking in stores but I'm going to give t-mobile 3-4 business days.
Anyone else waiting for stock? I feel kinda cheated that they don't give delivery estimates. As far as we know they could not get them for months!!

I was also told over the phone that they are out of stock. Since I'm a new customer they suggested ordering online and waiting for stock to arrive.
I'm looking forward to receiving it but not desparate yet!
In the mean time I ordered a leather case from www.pdair.com and a 1GB Micro-SD from MobyMemory.com
We need some insider info on when they're gonna get stock. I'm getting a bit desperate now, lol.

The guy I first got through to (seemed pritty knowlegable) said they had in initial batch of a few hundred (for launch) but they were much more popular than expected.
He said they were now waiting on a bigger shipment, which should have arrived last weekend. He seemed pritty sure it was comming then (I don't think it was a random date plucked out of the air).
Everytime I have got through this week I got the same repsonce. It should have been with us by now, don't know when it will get here, this sort of thing happens. Makes you wonder if they have had to repeat that a lot this week.

This may be due to the screen issues and might not be a bad thing to get a functioning device.
tried flagship tmob store on oxford street. they told me its sold out there and at all other tmbo stores. possible delivery wed but seeing as tmob web isn't getting for two weeks, I find that unlikely. I think its becoming obvious we will not see these for a couple of weeks. gonna try the big vodafone store as well for the heck of it, although their tariffs suck.
I ordered off the web the other day but was told the same thing - ended up going into my local T-Mobile highstreet store (in Birmingham) and getting the handset there and then for £65 on Flext 25 with Web 'n Walk (27.50 a month).

I ordered a vario II from the website yesterday, 21st September, with flext 25 + web n walk, but got the email saying it was out of stock.
so i phoned them direct, and the guy told me, they'd be in next week.
but then i got a call today, 22nd September, and they said it wouldn't be available till second week of October, so I asked if I could just go to one of the T-Mobile stores and get one, but they just said they would be out of stock to, which according to you guys is true.
as far as I'm concerned there's no other better phone deal out there at the moment, o2 wanted to offer me a great deal, but still not as good.
100 mins, 500 texts, 200meg for only £25 a month.
which would be great if they could offer me the XDA Trion, but only could offer a XDA Mini S.
I'm just gonna wait it out.
After being told that T-Mobile Retail were out of stock, I just walked into my local store (the one on Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham) and got one straight away, no hassle with stock availability or anything.
They'd probably be able to match the offer I got online as well if you tell them that you ordered but it was unavailable - I got my handset for £65 but I had to pay for the first three months of web 'n walk (there's only £2.50 difference in it once you tot the figures up). If you want your phone right now (and I needed mine there and then as my O2 contract runs out on Sunday!) then there's no harm in giving it a shot.
All the stores in the Newcastle upon Tyne area are out of stock....
Looks like we're gonna have to play the waiting game. This phone along with the unlimited internet t-mobile deal is really an amazing package, considering you can watch high-bitrate streams off the web from anywhere!
Looking forward for them to get it back in stock.

Unlucky mate looks like I might have been a bit lucky...
Don't you wish that mobile networks did 'courtesy phones' while you wait for the real thing! You start paying your tariff (but say on like, 2/3 rate) while you have your temporary phone, and then you could get your SIM then and there and start using it - and then your phone gets delivered to you and you start paying full whack again for your contract.
Course, none of the networks'll do it. Nah.

The business customer services are waiting to. The lady I am dealing with emails me each afternoon after 4 to tell there have been none in the delivery.
Bought mine in Guildford on Saturday . there were a few in the City last week (Cheapside & Fleet St).
Still playing with it. Hanging on to Tmob at the moment to get HSDPA switched on. do they ever answer the phone? i assume 150 is a free call or i'm going to run out on mins very soon!!

Disappointing service from MobilePhonesDirect

This is just a warning to others thinking about using MobilePhonesDirect, They may seem cheap but they are pretty useless.
I pre-ordered my new HD2 from MobilePhonesDriect last over a week ago. They promised that they would have stock ready for dispatch on 12th Nov for delivery via Royal Mail special delivery before 1pm on 13th.
I ordered:
HTC HD2
18 Month @ £25pm
200mins, 200txt, unlim data.
Handset = £132
So I took the day off work today to wait around for it. Did it show? No of course it didn't
Now I look at their website and it says they have the HD2 in stock and if you order before 3pm you can get next day delivery. Also the handset price has gone down from £132 to £107 and they are throwing in a free 2GB micro SD card.
Hopefully I'll be able to cancel my pre-order and just reorder at the cheaper price. What is the point of taking pre-orders if you can't supply the customers. They'd even sent me a mail earlier in the week saying they had easily enough stock to supply all pre-orders.
Of course their customer service team isn't answering the phone and also not responding to emails. I feel very let down by this bunch of clowns. I was hoping to be playing with my new phone all weekend. Now I just have to be content with watching all the other people's videos on YouTube who did get theirs on time.

You're one of the lucky ones.
I wouldn't particularly mind but they basically lied to me. I figured it would be just my luck not to catch the post today and maybe have to wait til monday. But they specifically said they had enough stock to fill all their pre-orders but after that other would probably have to wait til mid Dec for their phones.
That's why I pre-ordered.
Now they're saying they've got loads in stock and put the price down

Fat lot of good that'll do me as they won't deliver on a Saturday so it'll be Monday when I get it but Tuesday before I can pick it up from the depot. I should have just held on and bought it today for the cheaper price. Grrrrr

Moral of the story. Be wary of promises that sound too good to be true.

Chimp - i'm in the same boat as you, I was also looking forward to playing with the phone but now will be watching others play with theirs...sad LOL.

Well, at least you have got your email. I got all excited when I had the in stock, deliver Friday or monday message. Couldn't get reponse by email or phone, shame I have people with me Sunday for the day and if they saw and tried it i reckon MFD would have seen a couple of orders.
No email saying despatched for me so I can only hope they will still be packing/posting tomorrow and there's still a chance for Monday.
As a matter of interest what's happened to your status on the site now you have had your despatched email?

Royal Mail do Special Delivery on Saturdays, don't they?
I think in this thread or a MPD one in the Leo forum it was said that in some areas the Post Office delivers on a Saturday but it's a bit hit and miss as to where - technically it's next "working day" and that normally means Monday to Friday.
They do but for a £2.50 additional charge. I doubt that MFD are going to shell out for that considering they only charged £3 P+P and the cheapest Special delivery charge is £4.95
My understanding is that they deliver Special Delivery on Saturday, its just not guaranteed unless you pay the extra, so more often than not a package will arrive on Saturday. But I'm probably wrong!

10.04pm I received the "Your order has been dispatched message".
Peace now reigns.
Worde case is that it goes into the post tomorrow for monday delivery but I am holding out for their having got it in the post earlier but only updated the computer system late and there might be a slim chance for tomorrow. (The odds are better for that than they are for me to win the lottery).
At least they had their stock on the 12th - I have read some suppliers missed out and it's no chance for a phone before Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

That's another way to see what a mess of a company MPD is, you pre ordered a week ago and got despatched today but what me that ordered 16 of Oct so as every body can see they have a big mess
I can confirm 100%.
Hopefully it will (eventally) arrive ok and I'll never have to deal with them again. I go out of my way to avoid companies that provide such a pathetic level of "service". Had I known what an utter failure their part in this would have been, I would have waitied for someone else to have a T-Mo contract available for it.
Can't wait to see the last of these jokers.

Sometimes.. you will end up with a few delays but patience is the key here - and if it doesnt arrive on Monday then I would complain.. But in the meantime I wouldnt slag them off too harshly - its a pretty awesome phone so they will have had a busy few days.
Although you do have a point about the price dropping within the space of a week that certainly would get my goat.

I spoke to MobilePhonesDirect yesterday and was told that they had had a few problems with their system, owing to high demand.
Whether you believe this or not is up to you!
Where I live most parcels sent via special delivery on a Friday WILL arrive the next day, they just cannot guarantee it....and the assistant said it could well come tomorrow.
I ordered mine on Tuesday on the T-Mobile Combi 30 plan, 18 month.
As it happens I already have an HD2 anyway: It's a beautiful device, but to be honest I'm terribly disappointed with the keyboard, and being as typing is crucial to me as a textaholic I'm hoping that HTC will release an updated keyboard that behaves as well as that on the Hero.....for me this one just won't do, and i've been testing out some alternatives......but that's another story!

What time did Shack tell you to pick up?

I called around to different Radio shacks asking if I pre order what time can I come to pick it up, one store said they are scheduling appointments for people to come in bc they dont want everyone in the store at once...
3 other stores I called said they will just call me when it gets in but they have no idea when the shipment will even get their but it usually gets in around noon so about then...then they ramble on saying "oh you can get it on the 5th too"

maybe BB can give me a better answer on how early on the 4th I can get it.

I understand if you don't want to give me the exact#, but I am just curious if the early orders have much lower #'s and so on.

I'm in the 14k range. I pre-ordered at 7pm on the 14th, which i believe was the first day pre-orders were available for The Shack.
The manager I talked with told me the appointment thing is not a corporate thing. They are probably just trying to avoid being overrun in the morning. I was at the Pre launch waiting in line in the morning (10 or so people) and within an hour of being open, the store was empty. Did have some nice cookies though

Rad Shack / Sprint were very stringent on the Eligibility for upgrade in order to pre-order the phone. You _had_ to be eligible now in order to sign-up.
The only thing I could think of as to why would be they may release to the phone to pre-orders early. Im kinda expecting a call early that week.
I work for Radioshack; our memo instructed us to ask people when they would be available to pick up their preorder, because it would get very hectic with everyone in the store trying to activate all at once. Our stores usually have a max of four registers, and activating and ringing up takes a decent amount of time if it all goes perfect. So it's understandable if some stores took initiative and started setting times instead of asking; a lot of people who've preordered at my store keep saying, "oooohh, I dunno, maybe sometime around noon. I dunno." We only hold the preorders for two days, so it's important to have a date and time in mind so people don't forget.
As for shipments... we honestly have no idea when they're coming in. I hate to be negative, and I'd love to say we'd have it in early (like video stores with new release movies), but... realistically, based on previous history... I'd be surprised if we got the phones on the 4th. We'll see though, hopefully we'll have them early *crosses fingers*
But I will check on Thur and see if they have it, and go in the morning. I don't think they can stop us, if they have it in hand already.

Wrong. If a store sells a phone before its release date, there are fines involved; not to mention Radioshack as a whole could lose the ability to sell Sprint phones. It's a MASSIVE breach of contract, so I would lose that mentality real fast.

Also contractual agreements. We can't sell the phone outright or on 1-year upgrades, under any circumstances. I'm sure if you had an upgrade eligibility on June 1st, they'd let it slide, but in the end that'll depend in individual managers, so ask. That said, we are supposed to be getting more than our preorder total... quite a few more... but I can't reveal how many; suffice to say you'd be okay going in day-of, so long as your eligibility date is June 1st.

Expansys Experience

I feel compelled to share my experience of dealing with Expansys UK for ordering the Galaxy S2.
Its really been a very disappointing level of service, for anyone thinking of ordering from them then bare in mind that I ordered my phone on the 8th May when it was listed as in stock. A day or two later when I checked on order tracking it reported 11 days till stock. Over the course of the last 22 days their site has listed it in stock on a number of occasions and my tracked order status has changed repeatedly. Now I understand there is stock issues on the unit but be warned that Expansys 'stock' levels are misleading. I subsequently emailed them for an update which they failed to respond too, so today I called them for an update only to be told that even though I had ordered from the UK site that my order had been transferred to Australia (where I live) and that I must call that office for an update. So despite my intention of getting it early from the UK it appears Expansys is playing games with my order. I have now decided to cancel my order as I don't want to give this company my money. Let's see if Handtec can provide better customer service! Really terrible experience with dealing with Expansys, please consider carefully if intending to hand over your money to them.

it is so annoying - especially with so many ohers getting theres form various places (including expansys us who are supplying polish uk models or whatever it is). i chose expansys for my preorder as id had good experiences before with devices/accessories. been very dissapointed with this purchase though. website has said 100+ instock for 3 days now

We bought my wife a Desire S from Expansys last month. It arrived DOA. Instead of telling us they would take care of it, we were told to send it back to them and THEY would decide if it would be replaced or sent to HTC for repairs depending on the state of the packaging.
This makes me nervous, it sounds like they would only replace it if they could resell the defective unit. The box also contained an extra unused security seal for the packaging, which is strange. Why would HTC provide you with a way to make it appear the box had never been opened?
We decided we would be better off to deal with HTC directly rather than send it back to Expansys and have them decide what would be in our best interest. 6 weeks later and it is in for a second round of repairs and my wife has yet to have a full days use of the phone.
This is why Expansys didn't get more order a couple weeks later when the SGS II came out. I'll never buy anything from them again.
this is definitely worrying. I dont think expanys is getting my cash. The thing that bugs me the most is places saying they have stock and yet it takes a month to get your phone.
Handtec looks promising. Is this phone still selling out or can i comfortably order and the phone will be in stock ??
I ordered from Expansys Canada on Friday, and so far they haven't given me a reason to not like them. My order shipped within 8 hours of me ordering, and Fedex says it will be here by 5pm today, which I kind of doubt since the status is still at "Shipping info sent to Fedex". I ordered when there was 44 In Stock.
Funnily enough though, when I look at my order status and click on the link to look at the phone, it says it's not available anymore, but the phone is there with a different link. Just thought that was odd.
can anybody confirm handtec has stock available? I checked the website and it says yes but you can never be sure...
I ordered a while ago from Clove. The day after I ordered I noticed the site said they were out of stock. I started to cancel my order to order from Handtec and then noticed they were out of stock as well. Went back to Clove to cancel my cancel request, they asked me if my order was urgent, I told them it was and they shipped it right away.. Guess they had a few in reserve. Anyway my point is Clove has been great to me, very professional and courteous even when I was wanting to cancel my order.

I've never actually ordered from them, but every time I try to get info from them they are "not the most customer service oriented". You have to give them credit for selling to pretty much the whole world though! I'm surprised there are none in Australia yet. Taiwan's Launch date is June 1.
Just to act as a counter-weight in this thread I thought I would post my experiences with Expansys...
Pre-ordered the SGSII early and got it delivered the 5th of May. They answered all my e-mails promptly and I had no issues with payment or anything else.
Have used them a couple of times before and never had any issues then either.
I ordered one from Expansys USA on Thursday with overnight shipping and received it Friday. I paid with my Paypal account and Paypal wouldn't let me apply the coupon that is available so my charge was $25 higher than it should have been. Within 20 minutes of ordering Expansys refunded the $25 without me having to contact customer service. I was pretty impressed with their service as a first time customer.

I ordered from Expansys.ca this past Tuesday night (around 11pm) and the phone was in my hands on Friday 3 days later. I had no problems with them. In fact, I gave them my wrong expiry date and someone from customer service contacted me and I was able to fix it early Wednesday morning.
Everyone will have different experiences. Especially since Expansys is worldwide. Different areas may have different issues
I can only speak from my experience with Expansys US. I had no issues what-so-ever. The communication was great, and shipping was spot on. They were everything I require in a seller. I imagine if I needed to return the device it would be the same experience.
Sent them a couple simple questions via email since ordering a SG2 on Friday. No contact since then. Horrible customer service. Sent a cancellation email for my order a couple minutes ago and I expect a full refund. I'll follow up in the morning. I understand it's a holiday weekend but this is unacceptable.
You realize their office hours are Monday-Friday 8-6pm right? Why would they respond if they are off for the weekend, especially on a holiday. You have no reason to be angry at them.
Expansys USA has been great as far as my order for the GSII went. I ordered on the 16th, shipped on the 24th and got it on 26th. No issues at all.

(Q) anyone ordered from phones4u...if so...

The reason I asked is because I ordered my Samsung galaxy note from phones4u on Thursday, as I read on google the release date was the 3rd. I saw it on phones4u with a deal with orange. and I bought it.
Anyhow, I was told the following day (Friday) after calling them that the phone was on pre-order, and it would be with me at 11.11.2011 at the latest!
So basically I am confused, I've read on various forums that others ordered it around the same time and received it the next day, and this is all from phones4u!
Anyone else in a similar situation?

The reason I asked is because I ordered my Samsung galaxy note from phones4u on Thursday, as I read on google the release date was the 3rd. I saw it on phones4u with a deal with orange. and I bought it.
Anyhow, I was told the following day (Friday) after calling them that the phone was on pre-order, and it would be with me at 11.11.2011 at the latest!
So basically I am confused, I've read on various forums that others ordered it around the same time and received it the next day, and this is all from phones4u!
Anyone else in a similar situation?

Hey man, did you get your phone yet?
I upgraded my vodafone contract early with phones4u yesterday to the Note (from Galaxy S). They said 3 - 5 working days yada yada. I went on the online chat today just to ask if they had a more accurate date so I could arrange to be in, but the woman told me it's not released until the 17th... I'm assuming she was confusing the Note with the Nexus and gave up in the end.
Got my phone from phones4u. Just walked in to my local store and walked out with the phone, simples. This was on the release day and not online, I think you will have better luck by going in store.
Dialaphone woes
I ordered mine over a week ago from Dialaphone (subsidary of Phones4U) they gave me a delivery date of 11th November, but emailed me late last night to say no stock. Hmm.. I did an anonymous cold call to them earlier in the week, they said same thing but failed to let me know that my phone was never going to arrive today.
Luckily I ordered one from Handtec, and it arrived within 24hrs yesterday. When the Dialaphone one eventually arrives I will tell them to shove it!
Crap customer service, but Handtec saved the day with 100% satisfaction.
PS the SG Note is a dream to use!
Yeah I just walked in to phones4u on release day and bought it there and then on a brand new orange contract.
Phones4u are now saying they're awaiting stock, but still saying the "release date" is the 17th. Oh well. If I'm luck I'll get it by Friday!
Wondering if this is because I'm going through the upgrades section. I know phone companies keep their stock for new customers and for upgrades completely separate sometimes. Suppose it means they can get new customers on to contracts as quickly as possible, and keep those existing customers on hold for a while.
Either way, I can't fecking wait.
Spoke to phones4u this morning, as today (17th November) is the day they claimed that the Galaxy Note was being "released".
I have been told that they've got stock and that it's being delivered to me on Monday, so fingers crossed!
I also asked about email confirmation, as I didn't get any - at all. Apparently this is because the upgrades process is "nearly completely manual". Suppose that would make sense, and also explain why it's difficult to get stock levels accurate.
Really hope it's here by Monday!
I had the same issue going through phones4u to upgrade my orange contract and the online chat system is useless, i was told that there was no stock of the handsets by the online people, but when i spoke to an account manager they said there where plenty and it was orange who did not want me to get the deal phones4u had offered as it was reserved for new customers!!
So basically i told orange i would go to another company ie vodafone or someone like that and they soon changed there tune so now today the 17th i am waiting for royal mail to drop mine off........
still no joy with phones4u. Just phoned them and apparently they've had trouble getting the transaction to go through the till, but it should be being dispatched by special delivery this afternoon. at which point I should FINALLY get some form of email confirmation.
*sigh*
