Hey all First post, w00t.
New to the PDA type phone thing and learning what i can from here. Dont quite understand WM5 yet but i'll get it eventually.
nice fourm you all have here
A few post have hit the nail on the head with issues with the phone.
No hinge LED's when the phone rings is my main hate at the mo i think.
Also anyone know how to get media player to play videos in full screen? all it does is puts a black border round the video rather than streching it. This would be cool
Whats the differance between the o2 (or different) and corporate install type?
Also TomTom M5.2 is coming up all green lines, had a quick search and cant find a fix. Anyone?
Thought i'd drop on and say i've had a problem with my screen (gotta love us being beta testers ehh?) Only got the phone at chrimbo and woke up the other morning to find that the screen wouldnt tap. It seems that the screen is now tapping itself randomly, closing applications and not letting me use the touch screen at all. You cant reallign the screen.
Seems a few people have had this problem and it seems un-fixable, soft, hard resets and reinstalling the ROM doesnt work. pulling the battery out and leaving it for a short while seems to cure the problem for a short while.
If you're having this problem, call the retailer and have it replaced. Defo seems to be a hardware issue, maybe a bad batch?
I'm waiting on them getting a new one in store for me.
HTH
JAmes
The screen issue does seem similar to the problem I was having.
Was on and off, but totally stopped responding early Sunday morning. Didn't start working again after numerous resets. Took it to the O2 shop today and it decided to start working again...
But they believed me, gave me a replacement and I've had zero problems with this one.
Seems like there may be some faulty ones about. Get it changed and hope they don't give you another faulty one
Hi.
This video here is of an HTC Hermes with a weird keyboard issue which makes some letters (U,J,N) send more than one letter to the pda. I'm preety sure it's a hardware problem, because the problem was kept after flashing the device with a new rom. This Hermes was already sent for repair for this very same issue, and came back a little better (The same issue happened with I,K and M as well the last time ) so let's hope they do it right this time .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb1IOxdaUnc
I'm gonna send it for repair again, I know it's a hardware problem, but I'm posting the video anyway so you can have a laugh at the paranormal keyboard
Bad Hermes: 1
Repair Service: 0
This has gotten to be very annoying, whenever I'm using the physical keyboard, some keys, specially those at the top row, do not work. I used to be able to type by simply lightly tapping the keys, but now I have to press down on them with quite a bit of force. I got this problem after I installed the December ROM so I'm guessing there's a connection. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Just one key.
I have the problem with the "Y". otther than that I have no other problems with the keyboard.
I dont remember when it started, I just noticed it because every time I typed "yes" in messaging people would ask me why did I wrire "es".
No problems here. Although I only use it for typing here and there and for playing COD2 and Snow Rally City Stage. I figure that the keyboard isn't the most durable feature of this phone so i am very gentle with it. Do you have it insured?

Yeah I do. Doesn't seem like it's a common problem so I guess I'm going to have to call customer service. It's gotten much worse. About one in every four letters don't come up when I type.
I just type away on mine (when I am not lazy and use my touchpal). My 6700 was durable and so far my keyboard seems fairly robost considering how many times I slide it out and tap away...
This is the first thread I have seen regarding a potentially faulty keyboard.
i noticed it too with my 0/. button
my 'D' button
I have the same problem with my 'D' button. Otherwise works great.
got it replaced
Took it to my local repair store and had to wait a couple of weeks because the moguls are back ordered.
I had spot problems with TD2 touch screen from the beginning.
Now after a whole day of soft resets the screen is completly unresponsive.
Phone was 2 months old and I see, if not all, most of us had this problem.
I would know if/how many are so lucky they have a TD2 with still working touch screen.
If that's a common fault, people should know that phone is DoA and avoid buying it. At least not before an official statement from HTC where they admit the faults and declare the problem has been solved.
Could you be more specific with the issues? I've just bought a Topaz and would like to be able to access (though hopefully not contribute...!) to a list of testimonials to this failure.
A single place where we can notify HTC / service providers of the issue and how widespread it is would be extremely useful, especially considering the weight this community has with the company (Something tells me HTC are very interested in what people here say and do... It's the main reason why I went with an HTC / WinMob mobile phone).
Constructive comments only, though. "OMG AY HEYT HTC LULZ!!11 NOOBZ!1"-style flames achieve nothing.
using my topaz for about 3 months now....
no problems at all.

could be the ROM youre using man, some of them have better screen responses better than others, have you tried recalibrating the screen, im using the 6.5 energy rom and i havent had any problems at all, usually the 6.1roms have better screen responses because they are the more stable builds, try flashing a different rom and see if that helps

I had never any problems with my TD2 touch screen..
"...how many are so lucky they have a TD2 with still working touch screen" is very speculative approach..
Not a problem of ROM, I'm using out-of-the-box official 6.1.
First messages on forums I've seen the day I bought it where about failing touch screens... maybe it was a little bunch of phones at the beginning.
I hope so, I have to admit the radio really sucks, stilll better than my previous Artemis, but the phone was great.
Have you tried an updated radio rom?

I agree with the the post below you may need to update your radio rom because I have noticed that when the radio jumps in and out of reception constantly that it effects the screen response time but I have never had problems with my touch screen with the exeption of on 6.5 rom, but go over to the topaz rom upgrading section and try and flash the most recent radio. And see if that helps a little
I've installed the updated radio ROM (3.49?) and official HTC updates only.
I blamed S2U2 because most of the time the touch screen stopped working after the slide unlock.
I had this problem occasionally from the very beginning, and was getting worst by time, but yesterday the touch screen was dead completly.
I really hope the service will fix it soon, got a Nokia today and it works much better as phone... but completly sucks for everything else

Ironic, till now it seems I'm the only one with a failed touch screen...
where do you get your information?
if its so widespread, it wouldve been on engadget or some other news portal
your poll is biased as well, you dont have this option: My phone is perfectly fine
seems as if just cuz your phone broke, you want to put down the diamond2
but ok , let's hear from the users, maybe you are right, and maybe we could benefit from this.
my td2 is perfectly fine..
another reason of why this happens is tf3d2 is stuck
at that point, you MIGHT only be able to open the taskmanager on the corner. nothing else responds cept MAYBE that and the power button
mine works fine

Sorry for the late reply I had some health problems, my back screaming.
1) it was widespread when I bought the telephone. first place I checked was this forum whre I found a user blaming the touch screen fault. Can't find it again now, something like that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519441
At that time there were really few posts on the net about TD2, very few received their phone. Some had issues with it, most of them with the screen.
Until now still few votes, hope people with working phones will add their votes, 20% of spot problems/fauly phones it's pretty high.
About Pool choices, the first one is similar to "My phone is perfectly fine" (the most voted): "Fine, no problems at all till now"
You mean the choice is not clear because of the "till now": I'm sorry, my english sucks
I don't use TF3D2, I use SPB Mobile Shell.
Anyway I'm not biased and I won't to put down TD2.
I had for many years an HTC P3300 with great satisfaction and I like TD2, just want that HTC, if they actually don't, does it better.
IMHO: I've seen to many HW faults reports from ppl and too early. Was not the same with Artemis or Blacktone, not the same rate. That's the reason for the pool call.
Maybe it's the same as this: touchscreen does not "untouch"
I too have the same problem as in the link.
I've been using the phone for 3 months now. No problems with the screen whatsoever.
Same problem for me.
Got it for 2 months - original ROM, original protective screen. One day touchscreen stop responding, removed protective shield, worked for some minutes... After that some strange spots appeared on the screen. Thought, that i damaged the screen by pushing/pressing too hard, but the black/grey spots appeared random.
Gave away to service, now wait and see what the problem. I think something i the touch-sensitive layer.
I am having the same problem after 3 month of light usage.
Touch screen no longer sensing any form of touch...
My battery went flat on that day...
I was home 2-3hr later to charge...
Before full charge, I need to sms and found out that it is not sensing any touch....
Soft reset and hard reset no USE at all...
you're not the only one.. :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4264742#post4264742
I have the 2nd Digitizer on my TD2.. and it starts to get those "untouch" problems again
Been using the TD2 since it hit the shelves here in Denmark (about 4 months ago), and I just love it!
Screen is very responsive, image is crisp and clear and overall the only thing I could complain about is the glossy backcover...
Long story short, the best phone I have ever owned
Hello all, I hope this post can help you with the same or similar problem I had.
My LG gt540 started having a problem 2 months ago, the touchscreen got offset by 2 centimetres(1 inch) verticaly down, this was very annoying specially texting and couldnt access the top panel. Ex: to unlock the phone I had to press 1 inch above the green button.
Sometimes(I dont know why) it went back to normal, but about a week since the problem started it just got permanent, I tried rebooting, taking the battery, etc, nothing worked... Even tried to go to the calibration option but the offset was to much so it said out of range...
Then I read something online about the heat caused touchscreen problems, so I was thinking... hardware dont really like heat, and I always carry my phone on my pocket, the body heat could be damaging the touchscreen, lets try cold, it could solve it, long shot but what do I have to lose?
Left my phone in the freezer for 10 minutes, turned on, and it worked! for 1 month now its back to normal!
Hope it helps you, but try first freezing it powerd off, may be safer.
i have got my phone 2,5 years and i havent got any insue with the touch screen
Hi
My phone started doing the exact same thing a week ago...
This is the only thing I haven't tried, lets see if it works for me....
Thanks
I've had screen calibration problems since i started flashing custom roms.
In my case the screen positions are slightly off at the right side of the screen. When I want to type an "p" i have to touch where the "o" is on a german keyboard.
I'm trying your solution right now.

I have problems for the outer 4 sides.
It's worth to try.
Didn't work for me, it was only fine for 5 minutes....
Also didn't work for me.
Besides, after puting it in the freezer the display protection foil now looks a bit strange.

Hi, sorry for waking this thread up.
I also have the same problem, press 'o' to get 'p'.
I want to ask you guys who already tried this method. Did it work?
It's tempting, but it might be better to know more info.
Thanks.
