connection problems PC <--> PPC - Networking

Hello!
I have a freeware app and the communication model between PC and PPC is based on a sample app from Microsoft (SockApp). The PC client app is using IRAPIEnumDevices interface and Enumerates the Windows Mobile devices connected to get the connected ip-address. This work in most cases, but some users report that the client app won't connect with the PPC server app. It turns out that
hr = pIRapiDevice->GetConnectionInfo(&connectionInfo);
returns "127.0.0.1" instead of the actual Device IP.
Does anyone know why and how to work around this?
OS Vista, WM 6.1, USB cable connected.
Thank you for your time
Nicholas

Anyone please?

Passthrough for pocket pc 2003?

Hi all,
I am trying to connect to the internet via passthrough
on Active sync (version 3.7.1) while my XDA2 is still in the cradle
to my pc (with an internet connection)
After several attempts I read the HELP file in active sync and it states:
Note The ability to use ActiveSync to pass through this computer is only supported on Windows Powered Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Powered Smartphone 2002.
I am on PocketPC 2003.
Anyone knows of any freeware that can do a passthrough while
still on the cradle (on PPC2003).
Thanks
you may be referring to a very old article.
I can do Internet passthrough with my QTEK2020 PPC 2003 while plugged into the craddle, and without any additional software, just ActiveSync.
yeah i've don passthrough on my xda2 with both usb and bluetooth
Hi!
How is this done? I saw instructions on a link and they seemed so complicated. Any "Passthrough for Dummies" info?
Thanks
This link may help. Go to the internet connection link and it will tell you what to set up in active sync and on the ppc. I did this and can now get my emails through my pc connection instead of gprs

PC/Laptop to xda 2 viewing

Hi,
could an expert out there advise me if my theory is possible please?
Using Remote desktop/Terminal services : See whats on my PC/Laptop on the screen of my XDA2 - connected via cradle and usb(as usual). If so what do I put in the "Server" box of the XDA Terminal services prog and on the "Main" PC.. Do I have to make a Network first? Or ?
Thanks to all.
The site is great but much of it goes straight over my head at the moment..
P
ummm ... your theory seems not that much difficult as you can implement it using Bluetooth networking I guess ..
you can setup bluetooth networking from Pocket PC to Laptop then you can browse what your home PC conatin from your PDA
give it a try
I hope this is what U was talking about , if not please give us more clarifications
Cheers
It is better and faster to use Wifi if you're going to use terminal services.
Been using this method since last year.
Thanks but I do not have wifi or bluetooth...
There is a ref to doing it on MS site via the cradle and usb but then it shoots off in the over the web stuff...
I have tried just now but nothing connects.... But I notice that when I check my desktop (xp) pc under the rempte tab - I only have Remote Assistance.... Could this be it? Perhaps I do not have Remote Desktop installed then ! Eh? I will try to locate my original xp discs and see if I can install !!??
Ta.
Remote desktop or Terminal services connect only via IP address.
So you can only connect via TCP/IP using WIFI on your XDA.
Bluetooth 1.1 has no IP address setting so it is not possible also.
I tried all methods since last year and WIFI is the only solution or if your XDA has a backpack you can use a CF type NIC for wired connection via crosslink or hub.
Still Wifi is the cheapest and cleanest alternative. You can use Adhoc settings between your PC if you have no WIFI access point.

Windows 98, Activesync & WM6. How?

Anyone has idea how to do activesync with WM6 and windows 98?
Or anyone has other alternative to solve the problem?
My office has windows 98 and i m using cingular 8525 with WM6.
I have tried to use bluetooth dongle, still not yet found the solution even though i have managed to connect the network access but failed to run internet from my pda by using the bluetooth.
Read this:
http://www.modaco.com/content-page/238545/wm5torage/page/480/#entry773770
It is not possible to use Active Sync 4.x with Win98, but using wm5torage (and an usb driver proper, detailed in the page of Modaco) you can connect your pocket as an USB storage.
I hope you find this useful

C++ program on PDA - Contacting a database

Hello all,
I've got a project with this background:
- Programming a PDA program with C++ and Eclipse and wXWindows for Windows Mobile 2002
- Using a database on a windows PC
Question is: Is there an interface that already exists for communication from the PDA with the windows PC connected via USB?
Thanks.
yes both win32's odbc or mfc's ado or dao is present at pda's like on pc's
I have a server program running on the windows pc, which communicates with the database.
So i need a connection to the windows program and not to the database, sorry.
How can i communicate with the program?
make a socket on the pc program which listen to a socket at a surden port
and make a program on the pda which writes to a socket at the port and the ip
and you are there
ok, thanks.
So i have to program like a normal network application?
How can i find out, which ip my pda have, then it is connected via usb?
Can i communicate with the pc to the normal network ip from the pc?
ms have some free tools for ping and such i'd asume that they have a ipconfig tool in that packet
and yes when connected to activesync or wifi
the pda can do the same stuff as a pc connected to a pc
socket and networkwise

Bluetooth sync to windows vista

Hi All,
I'm sure this has been discussed 50 million times, but I can't find a good lead. I'm trying to sync my wizard to windows vista via bluetooth (it works via usb). I'm running WM6 (a cooked ROM of course), and my computer has all the necessary components for synching. The Windows Mobile Device Center is set to allow incoming bluetooth connections and the phone and computer can see each other. However, Windows Mobile Device Center (wow, it needs a better name) keeps saying not connected. Any ideas? Thank you!
same problem here
I am also struggling to connect/sync in Vista via Bluetooth dongle. I have defined I/O ports but my PPC disconnects as soon as connects/finds the designated port.
any help or comment would be appreciated.
cheers!

Since everything is in order, it's worth a try to disable your firewall.
In most cases that solves any probems.
Windows ActivSync is a little troublesome that way.
