Windows 98, Activesync & WM6. How? - Networking

Anyone has idea how to do activesync with WM6 and windows 98?
Or anyone has other alternative to solve the problem?
My office has windows 98 and i m using cingular 8525 with WM6.
I have tried to use bluetooth dongle, still not yet found the solution even though i have managed to connect the network access but failed to run internet from my pda by using the bluetooth.

Read this:

It is not possible to use Active Sync 4.x with Win98, but using wm5torage (and an usb driver proper, detailed in the page of Modaco) you can connect your pocket as an USB storage.
I hope you find this useful

Passthrough for pocket pc 2003?

Hi all,
I am trying to connect to the internet via passthrough
on Active sync (version 3.7.1) while my XDA2 is still in the cradle
to my pc (with an internet connection)
After several attempts I read the HELP file in active sync and it states:
Note The ability to use ActiveSync to pass through this computer is only supported on Windows Powered Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Powered Smartphone 2002.
I am on PocketPC 2003.
Anyone knows of any freeware that can do a passthrough while
still on the cradle (on PPC2003).
Thanks
you may be referring to a very old article.
I can do Internet passthrough with my QTEK2020 PPC 2003 while plugged into the craddle, and without any additional software, just ActiveSync.
yeah i've don passthrough on my xda2 with both usb and bluetooth
Hi!
How is this done? I saw instructions on a link and they seemed so complicated. Any "Passthrough for Dummies" info?
Thanks
This link may help. Go to the internet connection link and it will tell you what to set up in active sync and on the ppc. I did this and can now get my emails through my pc connection instead of gprs

Hi, I'm a newbie when it comes to PDA's, I'm trying to do the most simple task of connecting my EXEC to my pc via USB cable but cannot get it to connect to ActiveSync. Ive installed ActiveSync (and reinstalled) from the 02 getting started cd, and when I connect my EXEC it says the usual new hardware detected and comes up with "Multimedia Video Controller" but there are no drivers on cd's to install it. I have read all troubleshooting on the supplied help files and on the ms website but still no luck. Can anyone help me?? Cheers
Matt
Which opperating system are using on the PC?
win XP professional service pack 2
You will find there are many posts in this forum relating to active sync issues. Especially if your PC is running any firewall related s/w.
Apparantly MicroSoft will be bringing out active sync 4,1 at the end of the month to sort this problem out - Mike

Sync problems in Vista
The reason for your problem is that the RTM version of Vista don't have Windows Mobile Device Center included because it was still in beta. To get the latest beta available download it from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
I have no problem to sync my P3600 on Vista with the beta software.
Greetings
/Jan
In addition to sync/exchange files, which worked even without the above mentioned software, as it will see the Trinity as just another USB memory (drive letter) device, you'll need this beta software to install/add any non-cab file based programs on the Trinity.

So you guys can Sync files and outlook in Vista?
I have the Mobile Device Centre Beta 3 installed for use with my 6828 and all I get is Sync my media files.
Anyone else experienced problems with not being able to sync outlook data or being able to install programs?
Yes, I had a lot of problems getting the partnership with P3600 working. I was trying to pair it via Bluetooth, but that didn't work either. I then tried installing some Toshiba bluetooth drivers for my Dell TrueMobile BT, that installation failed but somehow Vista recovered by reinstalling its own BT-drivers and after that I got a perfect ActiveSync connection over Bluetooth.
Every now and then I get some sync errors, and most of the time these are solved by closing Outlook 2007 and then resyncing (which starts Outlook in a hidden thread). Rebooting the notebook helps also of course.
I've Vista too and my trinity was recognized automatically. The only problem is that i can't install application by Mobile Device Center because every program ask me to install Active Sync 4.2 but Vista not permit to install any release of active sync.

[Q]Share PC's internet connection With PPC using Bluetooth (not via activesync)

Hope the title says everything about my problem. I don't know if it is not the right forum to post.. If it's off-topic, I request the mod to move this to a more appropriate forum.
My specs:
HTC P3452 (ELFIN) using a custom 6.1 ROM(with the default MS BT stack)
Windows XP Professional SP3 using Widcomm BT stack
UTSTARCOM router to connect to the internet.
My problem:
I want to use bluetooth as the primary medium of connection between PC and PPC .
By 'connection'; I only mean efficient file sharing and internet connection sharing (only from PC to PPC; not the other way round; 'cause I don't have a GPRS/EDGE data plan on my PPC)
MS Activesync does both of these (but not very efficiently) , and there are a lot tutorials on how to connect PC and PPC using Bluetooth and then sync them using Activesync. But as everyone knows, being the crappiest software ever Activesync often auto-disconnects, even if the PC and PPC are still connected by bluetooth .
Using the ready-made solutions provided by the Widcomm Software, it's very easy to share files, as the MS stack supports FTP.
The Widcomm software also offers a service named "My network access" and creates a Bluetooth LAN connection on PC; and those were supposed to be able to establish a LAN connection between PC and PPC over Bluetooth, but it doesn't .
(The MS BT stack of Windows Mobile doesn't enable PAN by default. I used a hack by some user of this forum (wm6btpan) . But that doesn't seem to solve the problem either, although it enables me to use my PPC as a remote control.. )
So at this point, I need your help in establishing the connection between the PC and PPC so that the PPC can use PC's internet connection. For the last 1.5 days I have searched nearly hundreds of resources but nowhere found a complete solution working for a HTC Touch. If , with your help ,I can get my setup going, then I promise to put up a full fledged tutorial on how to do this...
Hoping early response..
