Hello everyone.I apologize if this is posted in an improper place, however i did not see an introduction type section/thread.Well, as my title shows,i am rather new to the forum and wished to introduce myself and my situation. I stumbled upon this forum after exhaustive Google searches, for what i no longer remember, and settled in to browse. Here it is a mere 3 hours later and i sit with 77 opened tabs in Firefox, and an overflowing ashtray.Nasty habit, i know, but we all have our vices.Speaking of which, i appear to have begun a new vice here this evening amongst your informative and sometimes confusing words of wisdom. You see i recently purchased a used HTC Hermes mobile device and have spent countless hours in search of upgrades/improvements.After some research it appears my device was flashed to a WM 6.5 cooked ROM.I have decided that I want to learn how to flash it myself again and again and again. So there you have it; A rambling post from a newbie in the truest sense of the word.I am most certain i will require help along the way, however i have no desire to be spoon fed.I have 76 pages to read thru and i am quite certain that pages will beget pages will beget pages.I would like to thank you all in advance for any, and all, information i obtain over the next few days/hours/weeks/months.I am sure you will see me again shortly, infecting the Hermes board with stupid noobish questions.
Hello
Welcome to the forum.
If you really want to be a flashing freak, LOL, follow the instructions given in this thread

This will surely help you realising your dream of flashing your hermes 50 times a day(thats being conservative)
I personally love Josh,Abu for their work, but we got lots of other master chefs working day & night to you the maximum pleasure out of your device.
Good Luck.

Well, 24 hours after first stumbling on to this board, I have managed to flash my Hermes to a new rom.The guy i bought the phone from had already flashed it to a TAI rom 21222 V17 lite.after some reviews on the board i decided to stick with TAI and went with his 23009 WWE Lite ROM V24 - TAI Edition.I could not be happier with how smoothly everything went, thanks to those of you who have spent your precious time writing up guides and instructions.I would also like to deeply thank TAI for his countless hours of work in cooking these ROM,many many thanks TAI.

Well after much reading and skimming....I was able to brick, unbrick, and finally flash a rom that i like....
I took a while but the way i figure whats spending your whole day off learning about your phone in the scheme of things.
Ok. So, the T MOBILE WING is also known as the Atlas a variation of the original Herald model. This is very important to know because there are very many roms scattered about throughout the threads. IF YOU FLASH THE WRONG DEVICES ROM YOU MAY PERMANENTLY BRICK YOUR PHONE REQUIRING SERVICE OR A NEW UNIT!!!! So, be sure you know which device you have and which rom is for that device. Most you will find in a thread will more than likely tell you which model family it is for.
What I did was began with the HardSPL which you can find in the forums along with many different ways of installing it....
Then I installed a rom not designed for my device....VERY BAD....or so I thought. Much to my amazement because I read so damn much before I began I jumped back to some old thread and realized since i couldn't get the computer to connect properly i could still use my sd card to flash. I flashed the TMO original wing rom to the phone and viola` back to square one....
Next I called T MOBILE. I asked them to unlock my wing. They were very helpful and told me they would email me the info necessary. ***IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS I RECIEVED AN EMAIL TELLING ME EXACTLY HOW TO UNLOCK MY PHONE**** Do not waste your money on one of those websites that unlocks your phone your service provider will do it for free if you are past the trial period.
finally i found a rom I liked (open touch final ) installed it via sd card and haven't had a problem since.
Don't know who's ego I need to stroke but let me say that everything you need to learn how to do whatever you want with your wing is right here in these forums. Thanks to all the contributors and the guys who asked the dumbest questions I was far too cautious to ask. There is a plethora of information here I just wish it was more organized it was a lot of reading. But once again thanks to those who answered the tough questions.

Hi everyone, first time poster here so be gentle
Ive had my O2 XDA Ignito (HTC Touch Diamond) for 8 days now and i still cant get my head around the massive amount of features it has. I feel like an absolute no0b, which is not surprising as its my first Windows Mobile
Ive scoured the Diamond Forums here and elsewhere but i still cant seem to get a grasp on the most basic of things, so i was wondering if there is a REALLY simple "How-to" guide on basic things like - how to change themes etc. I keep reading all kinds of confusing stuff about different software needed, expiring your warranty, bricking your phone, having to mess around with ROM's and hard/soft resets
I realise that there has probably been a thousand of these topics made but i simply cant take any more information on board without it pushing all the old stuff out
I'd really appreciate someone pointing me in the right directing or giving me a basic idea of what to do, lol!
Btw my ROM Version is 1.93.206.3 WWE if that helps
Many many thanks
So I spent a good 4 hours last night (didnt get to bed until 3 AM), reading all about the Touch HD, etc. I ordered mine on Monday and it arrives today. I am really excited as I have wanted this device for a while.
Anyway, I initially had no interest in trying some sort of "cooked" version of WM 6.5 but after lookin at the screens, seeing a few videos, I think I may want to pull the trigger.
From what I gather it looks that "Miris" 6.5 ROMS are the way to go? I am certain I have the proper sticky thread. Here is where I get way confused. How does one load these up to his/her devices? Are there "how-to" attached to these ROMS? Any help would be much apreciated.
My last venture into Windows Mobile was with my old school Samsung Blackjack. I have been a loyal Apple fan up until now.
Thanks guys!

Miri is one of the well known chefs here. Others include Dutty, although he has moved to www.htcpedia.com. Once the flashing bug bites you can try a few different ones and see which one best suits your needs.
Anyway the best How to guide can be found here.
Take your time and read it through carefully. If you follow each step fully then you should not go wrong and you won't be sorry, the cooked roms are so much better than stock. (We will stay away from commenting on your last phone LOL
Link to guide provided. Any further queries on flashing should be posted in that thread.

Hi all,
I am new to this forum and I am looking to upgrade my ROM, but what to?
Can anyone provide any recommendations and reasons as to why that ROM?
Thanks in advance.

Oh no...again..
Dear Gregs79
as i see you only joined this forum 2 days ago.
the easy way of flasing of the HD2 is possible since HSPL is released on 4 jan.
as it has just started the roms are still furter developed.
i'm not going to give you an advice on rom flashing, roms are a personal thing. layout, speed, light or full to name a few.
but i wil give you as a newbie the advice to read this forum, questions as this one you ask only irritate as you can see with the reply from eddieul
Indeed, there are just too much criteria to take into account; speed, usability, free space, removed/added apps or drivers, os version, et cetera; roms are a personal choice.
I do think it would be nice to have a rollup thread with all available roms and their particularities, but it's not like ckecking each thread bothers me anyway.
If unsure, better stick with official. Currently it's best choice for all.

First of all, apologies for the post, I was not intending to wind anyone up! I have spent the last couple of days looking at the forum, but not being familiar with the Windows Mobile interface and never having had a windows mobile phone before, I have absolutely no knowledge of what things are!
I appreciate and have seen that there are variations on ROMs, but as Yunabeco above states, it would be nice to have a thread containing all available ROMs with release dates and not just the official ones.
Apologies once again.

Alright mate, cut the man some slack, he's already apologised for the question no need to bite his head off. We're not all born with the knowledge when first coming here and basic questions will get asked time and time again, nothing wrong with a little patience, we all started from scratch at one time or another.
I think the best place to start is if you have stock rom 1.43, flash the official 1.61 and then move onto varients of the stock builds like l3v5y's or Dutty's.
Once you've become comfortable with those you can look at the other 6.5.3 builds if you're brave but sticking to stock builds is no bad thing as the HD2 is a pretty awesome bit of kit out the box.
Hi everyone
I got my HTC HD2 and it had WinMob,I ordered it last week so i have being doing my homework and im not a complete noob
While i was waiting for it to arrive i was playing around with an Android Phone,I really like the interface and app store and have decided to switch.
I will be using the NAND method and have read over all the guides but theres a few things i need help with,
The 1st is prob a total noob question so forgive me
(1)My radio version is r 2 06 51 07 so from what i can gather i should be ok using this? The only reason i ask is in case this was an update that HTC applied to stop people changing the OS
(2)When choosing a stable ROM will ii have all the features i have with WinMob(Flash,Camera,Wifi,Bluetooth etc)
I have read a lot of threads and from what i gather some roms will have all these features while others are still being updated
(3)
WHich ROM version to use?
Now from looking around the threads i understand this is like "Walking in to a bar and asking 10 guys which beer to drink" But to be honest im looking for a stable Rom that will have all the features,Basically a noob rom,Im not really looking for a ROM that will give me a lot more features than WinMob
After a while when im more confident i will start changing roms and reporting
bugs to help the developers here
(4) Suggested Donation to the developer of the ROM
Developers put countless hours in to developing these roms are are nice enough to give it to us for free and are happy with a thank you
I think its only fair to make a donation,However what amount would be suggested,
I have used the search function and have found a lot of the answers i was going to ask but i cant seem to find the answers to the above questions,
If they have being asked before ghen please tell me the keywords to search,I know how busy people are on this site and dont want to be wasting there time
Thank You in Advance
(1) I'm not sure but i believe only 2.xx.50 radio's were supported by Android/MAGLDR/CLK
Try this thread, i don't know if it also applies to T-Mobile US or Telstra versions.
Be sure to have HardSPL installed on your device, otherwise you can't install the radio.
2.15.50.14 is the most commonly used radio.
(2) Android development for the HD2 has been going for ages now and it's practically an android native device nowadays with all drivers present and working.
Although there are some modifications needed to fully support Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (almost everything is working, but the camera drivers won't record video and there where some issues with data drops) but allot of people are working on it.
(3)For starters i would suggest Hyperdroid, it should be fast and stable.
If you're becoming anxious for more fiddling around and trying to get every little bit of power available in your HD2 then try Dorimanx's ROM.
(4) That's personal, if you don't like it a bit then don't donate. If you think it has completely wiped the urge/need to buy yourself a new phone then you could donate a nice sum of money. Between 5 and a 100 dollars.
Hope i've been of help.
Thank You
I was wrong about the radio version and im trying to change that at the moment,Im having a few problems with the syncing but im looking around the threads and think i know what the problem is.
Il look in to those ROMS you suggested.
Thank you for the help
