Suggestion for thread with a poll of Different roms - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi everyone
I got my HTC HD2 and it had WinMob,I ordered it last week so i have being doing my homework and im not a complete noob
While i was waiting for it to arrive i was playing around with an Android Phone,I really like the interface and app store and have decided to switch.
I will be using the NAND method and have read over all the guides but theres a few things i need help with,
The 1st is prob a total noob question so forgive me
(1)My radio version is r 2 06 51 07 so from what i can gather i should be ok using this? The only reason i ask is in case this was an update that HTC applied to stop people changing the OS
(2)When choosing a stable ROM will ii have all the features i have with WinMob(Flash,Camera,Wifi,Bluetooth etc)
I have read a lot of threads and from what i gather some roms will have all these features while others are still being updated
(3)
WHich ROM version to use?
Now from looking around the threads i understand this is like "Walking in to a bar and asking 10 guys which beer to drink" But to be honest im looking for a stable Rom that will have all the features,Basically a noob rom,Im not really looking for a ROM that will give me a lot more features than WinMob
After a while when im more confident i will start changing roms and reporting
bugs to help the developers here
(4) Suggested Donation to the developer of the ROM
Developers put countless hours in to developing these roms are are nice enough to give it to us for free and are happy with a thank you
I think its only fair to make a donation,However what amount would be suggested,
I have used the search function and have found a lot of the answers i was going to ask but i cant seem to find the answers to the above questions,
If they have being asked before ghen please tell me the keywords to search,I know how busy people are on this site and dont want to be wasting there time
Thank You in Advance

(1) I'm not sure but i believe only 2.xx.50 radio's were supported by Android/MAGLDR/CLK
Try this thread, i don't know if it also applies to T-Mobile US or Telstra versions.
Be sure to have HardSPL installed on your device, otherwise you can't install the radio.
2.15.50.14 is the most commonly used radio.
(2) Android development for the HD2 has been going for ages now and it's practically an android native device nowadays with all drivers present and working.
Although there are some modifications needed to fully support Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (almost everything is working, but the camera drivers won't record video and there where some issues with data drops) but allot of people are working on it.
(3)For starters i would suggest Hyperdroid, it should be fast and stable.
If you're becoming anxious for more fiddling around and trying to get every little bit of power available in your HD2 then try Dorimanx's ROM.
(4) That's personal, if you don't like it a bit then don't donate. If you think it has completely wiped the urge/need to buy yourself a new phone then you could donate a nice sum of money. Between 5 and a 100 dollars.
Hope i've been of help.

Thank You
I was wrong about the radio version and im trying to change that at the moment,Im having a few problems with the syncing but im looking around the threads and think i know what the problem is.
Il look in to those ROMS you suggested.
Thank you for the help

I want to invest on an extended.battery to cope with my excessive phone usage, um fairly new to androiding my phone and have done it successfully, but want to know if the extended.battery would work after downgrading to a .50 radio as HTC say that a Rom upgrade.may be required and dont want to invent on something that may not work.
Any help would be much apreciated

This is the reason why you don't get any answers. If you would know how to use this function right you would have spend less time than writing this thread.

First of all, search the forum.
As I'm in a good mood today:
1. flash a nice WinMo ROM, which is made suitable for android
2. flash the 2.12 or 2.14 radio
3. copy android to SD
4. enjoy awesomeness!
to completely answer your question, you just need to use a suitable radio and use this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756513
If you would have searched the forum, you would have read this and I wouldn't be typing this. The world is so big and so small at the same time...
@ dusdus
Yes, your mood must be very good today, cause mine isn't.
Yeah well, I'm usually a very patient guy and can still remember being a noob in all this.
The only difference is that I didn't dare to post a thread like this, so I started figuring it out myself.
Some people...just..don't. Or something. I guess a lot of times it's the young kids who are too impatient and/or too stupid
maby its good to change the header because i good thread.
builds compatible for extended batteries
Do we know any other builds with SENSE or any other way to make it??
First of all thanks for the help I now know where to go and secondly I dont appreciate the immature comments received from someone stating the younger generation for being "too impatient and/or too stupid " as I'm 25 myself and live a busy lifestyle both at work and at home and regularly use car related forums as I enjoy that community with friendlier forumees and not surprised by the comments from people that do this 24l7 which clearly shows they have no association from the outside world.
You may class me as a noob but I feel that I have done really well with my phone considering my lack of experience and little spare time that I have to work on my hd2
Once again thank you

any HELP PLease Thanks!!
If there's one thing I've learned is that stuff is rarely handed to you around here. The rest of us have worked to get what we want; meaning read and figure it out on your own. The first few posts of each ROM thread will inform you of what the cook has done and you can figure out from there if it fits your needs.
...Wow. You do realize that the stock 3.14 ROM does work with the majority of Android distros, and that by installing CoOkies Home Tab you can increase the number of links to however many you want....right?
So i can use the stock ROM 3.14 with my Mdeejay Evo Matted Android?
if So, How can i Increase the number of quick links in my Stock ROM?
sorry if i am very noob but i just get my htc hd2 2 days ago xD

Wow...you were once a noob as well seeking help and every now and then it would be nice to get a helping hand on here. Sometimes it would be great to just meet someone to take them under their wing and help them...dont really feel as if that would be to much to ask.
See the thing is though, most of the time people troll the forums as un-registered people, find something they like/want, try to download and find that they have to be registered to do so, join...download what they wanted without reading instructions and whatnot, then come and complain or ask for a handout without so much as looking at the stickies. It's not that we don't like n00bs at XDA, quite the contrary, without new blood XDA would die off, it's that people that come and expect to be spoon fed information is something that I for one cannot stand. There is a wealth of information if you just look for it.

[Q] android start

I'm newbie... I want to try android on my Leo... how should I start?
Start from reading the forum and do not expect spoon feeding

Tell us something about your phone.
What ROM / Radio you have on your phone?
(go to settings / about phone / software info...)
Then you have to choose a build. If you have time it is better to try several and choose the one you are most comfortable in. I tried 5-6 builds so far and yesterday I installed latest JDMS build and am very happy with it. It is not that fancy looking like Desire HD builds but it is very much faster and for me so far everything works.
As kokfann said it is best to do some research on forums and get a little better picture, but if you are stuck in something let us know. I came to this forum several months ago and I understand how much stressful can be searching the best solution on so much information here. And as I see often lots of people here are just waiting for a newbie to ask some basic question just to flame him horribly. Do some search and ask if you need something.

Dunno about Dorimanx but Xylo is definitely still active on the HD2 forums, so I don't know what you're on about there. Yes, development for the HD2 is decreasing but it's because the phone's three years old, not because of the community. I'm not quite sure but I reckon you won't be able to find any other phone which is this old and still has this much activity. Even so, the HD2 probably has another half a year of life at the most before development completely ceases, so we may as well enjoy it whilst it lasts and face the truth that sooner or later this phone will die.
+1 as well dorimanx is in my opinion the best dev on here no disrespect to other devs but he is hands above the others in relatiin to his kernel work with zram and swap and the frequency with which he used to update his rom us unsurpassed making my hd2 faster than then my friends stock sensation. we all miss him here his dev status in my opinion and the opunion of others should never have been revoked. i was told by a moderator that they answer questions within 24hours but am still awaiting answers to questions in my thread reinstatement of developer status which i posted for dori to be given his dev status back in questions and answers.
so hail the MAESTRO DORIMANX and please return we need you. if u are nit going to return please open your rom and kernel in some other forum and we will leave xda and follow you once again.
I believe that all the developers are worthy of respect. all have made the development of hd2 possible, every one for own characteristics and knowledge.
perhaps they are of part but dorimanx for me it is the number one for when it concerns the innovations brought on our telephone, I speak of the data2ext, of the swap, of the zram. Is Tytung one of fathers founders of the rom android on hd2, which rom android has not had one kernel of his? I believe anybody (the dorimanx has not perhaps had never it).
I believe to speak for the good of everybody, because they don't put on all together with to work for a rom android that perhaps that official are even able of eguagliare.
you think only to imagining xylo + tytung + rick_1995 + dormanx, and many I have forgotten of it, that work for a rom that could remain for a long time perhaps on our telephones.
you excuse for the English
Isn't this the same thing people posted about a few months ago

i disagree tbh it still as a 4" screen thats the main reason its still up there ,back in the day apple said there screen was big enough now the min screen is what the hd2 has got so id say long as the devs still want to they will as it still outsrtips a lot off phones out there on spec ,off topic but shame the devs never got in to the hd7
I'm delighted to have found this website! I got my HD2 and at first I quite liked the W6.5 on it, slowly getting used to it and them BAM! I can't use the Windows Marketplace, that was the only/final straw for me, what the hell is the point in having a marketplace on the phone when you can't even use it! I started looking into getting android on it and managed to stumble across this site and thanks to the helpful guides on how to flash my phone I've managed to get it how I like it! Keep up the good work guys as I am here for a while now, can't see me getting rid of my HD2 for a long time and will always be checking here for updates!
you want developers? spare hd2's for new ones(not noobs, ones without hd2, i mean).
simple.
many thanks for all their great works
I'm very happy Tytung is making HD2 roms again. Thanks to him, my HD2 now runs ICS perfectly. He released his last ROM yesterday, his previous ROM last week. He always was my favorite developer.
We salute you, Tytung!

[Q] Newbie needs help

Hello,
I figure there must be tremendous amounts of threads that relate to what I may be asking for already, but I wanted to make sure I asked everything right until I head on my own and start messing around with my phone.
I currently have a two year old myTouch 4g, and it has run fine, though it does lag a lot ever since this one over the air update mobile had released...and I always knew I can install a ROM to fix that issue, but the issue at the time was I had no time (college and work).
I am now on spring break, and have a week of free time, and figured I can install a ROM to help my phone become "alive" and fast!
Well, I don't know much about ROMS or which ones are the best ones, but ideally, I want one that is very fast, stable, and if it is possible, can it even be the latest Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich? Never tried those versions out, figured I might be getting tired of Gingerbread.
I don't know a lot about how to do any of these processes but I am very capable of reading tutorials and links if you guys have any suggestions on that.
I once again apologize for making another thread about my desire to have a fast and running phone again, just wanted to make sure it gets answered as I had requested it to be.
Thanks!
I would suggest starting here for information concerning rooting: Newcomers please read me, a helpful little guide
After that, if you are on the right chipset and eligible to root, then I suggest reading the stickied guides in the Glacier dev forum to gain root access.
After that, as for which ROM is the best or fastest or most stable, there is no one here that can correctly answer that question except for you as everyone uses their phone differently. We also consider it somewhat gauche to ask as there are many devs here that share their work for free and it can be considered disrespectful to them. Feel free to try different ROMs until you find the one that feels right to you. Once you get set up and started, it is very quick and easy to flash a new ROM so you won't need a week if you want to change.
With that said, I am closing this thread. If you need help in getting root or installing a custom recovery then please post questions in the appropriate threads and people there will be glad to help.
Thank you,
