I have been searching the interwebs for a concrete answer on this...
Will the myTouch sync wirelessly with the exchange server? Will the sync include email, calendar, and contacts?
I have heard and read all different answers.
If it can only sync up email, is TouchDown the only software out there that will complete the sync? Is it worth it? Has anyone used this software?
Thanks for a possible new Sapphire buyer.
I have tried the Exchange Server Sync but there are some error. You can check here
http://androidforums.com/htc-magic/6049-rogers-htc-magic-exchange-sync-weirdness.html
I have installed TouchDown and used it for a day. So far so good.

Roadsync is another alternative - currently free as its in beta. Or if you feel adventurous you could flash your phone with the htc branded firmware as it definitely has exchange sync in it.
HTC Firmware
Will this HTC firmware still be Android or is it totally HTC? New to these firmwares.
I believe I was looking at another forum talking about these and it sounded like about a month ago they were having issues with the calendar syncing. Have these been resolved? Can you show me where there may be more information on these HTC firmware?

Is anyone here managing their contact or calendar via an online solution such as Kiko or Gmail?
I've tried many different solution and none seem really convenient. Gmail contacts won't sync with the universal unless you go through outlook as an intermediary, losing some of the data in the process (gmail groups are not recognized by outlook).
I'm just looking for something that's convenient and works. I intend to use my universal as the only 'offline' source of info + an online repository, but no desktop solution (as I'm always on the go and don't use a desktop).
TIA!
I'm going to partially update my own post:
This tool:
http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=sync&dir=wm
seem to sync plaxo contacts to a pocket pc. That's a start. Does anyone knows anything similar?
I use Airset for my online calendar, but I sync it to my desktop outlook. They do have a java thingy for mobiles though, and the tmobile MDA Vario and SDA.
I've not tried that, but I'd imagine it keeps everything in the applet, rather than hooking up with wm5 calendar. Could be worth a look though.
I think I might have found a solution to my problem.
Apparently Yahoo Mail supports intellisync, which syncs straight to the PDA from the online repository (notes, calendar and contacts apparently)
That's exciting stuff, especially with the new Yahoo mail beta that's going on (much better interface, 1gig of space).
As an extra bonus Yahoo mail also supports plaxo sync (gmail doesn't)
I'll give it a try and will let you know.
Right, didn't work either. Now I think my last option is a hosted exchange service with a web interface.
... which I did and it works wonders. Seems to be the only solution out there for the people looking forward to rid of the dated 'desktop-centric' paradigm.
So now I got gmail address -> 4smartphone , using gmail as a spam filter. When replying the emails I send appear to come from my gmail account, rather than the forwarding address (brilliant!).
So far I've only tried to sync over wire, which worked great (minus a few quirks here and there but nothing dreadful).
It's brilliant and cost only a few quids a month.
Hi All !
Sorry for the basic question. I would like to sync my TyTn with two Exchange server.
1. Exchange server in the company
2. Hosted Exchange server
Do you have any idea, how to do that ?
As far as I know it is impossible at the moment. Activesync only allows one server to be set up. My intuition tells me we will probably never see it as there is only one contact, task, calender and email store in WM5 and having them both syncronised via 2 servers would cause more conflicts then you can shake a big stick at.
Yep, it's a glaring gap in PPC functionality, but it is not possible to sync with two different Exchange servers!
Sorry to jump on this thread, but the knowledge may be relevant.
If no exchange server existed, but you have a desktop, a laptop, and TyTN, is there a sync solution for all 3 devices?

You can sync your PPC with two pcs (but only e-mail from one of them).
Everything else can be sync'd between them all.
My MDA Pro is sync'd with an excange server for my e-mail and 2 desktops (home and work) for contacts, calendar, tasks, notes and files.
Could it be possible to link with thew hosted exchange using the built in capability, and then use funambol (with the exchange connector plug-in) to sync with the in house exchange server?
Ive not tried it, but I hold out big hopes for funambol as a synchronising tool for a mixed network solution.
I'm also interested in syncing with 2 exchange servers. Maybe a third-party program?
I also have a problem using active sync: I am trying to sync my tytn with an exchange server (email, just for pushmail with mail2web) and with my pc (outlook calendar and contacts). I just can't get it to work. I removed the whole sync pairing with my pc and redid it and then it worked once. After that it keeps on looking for changes and in the end it comes with the error message.
So basically I want to sync one exchange server and my outlook, anyone a solution? I tried it with both AS 4.2 and the 4.5 beta. I use the tytn rom...

I don't believe that's true. It is possible to set up funambol, with multiple servers, and use the funambol clients (one which exists for WM5) to sync with these multiple servers.
If you can justify *why* your statement is true, and why it is applicable in this case, then I would be very interested to hear.
Yes, there IS a way. MSFT has actively closed that loophole with ActiveSync 4.x
But I found a way around. See my post in the activesync newsgroup:

Ignore the typos in the post (ooops) and enjoy
I have no idea if funambol can help or is relevant, but I can tell you that people have been trying to find a multi-MS Exchange Server sync option for years, and I have NEVER seen a successful solution before...
There are many threads on this forum that will confirm the same...
Believe me, I'd be thrilled to have somebody resolve this, as I also have a personal Exchange server and multiple work Exchange servers!!!
Over-the-air sync with 2 exchange servers: success
Hi,
My approach: use one exchange server with Visto push mail. The other with exchange activesync directly to the server and it works. Two separate mailboxes too. (this is the main reason why you cannot sync with two exchange servers directly) It works fine for me.
Ton.

Thanks for verifying that way works. This is exactly the approach I was suggesting (but using funambol and exchange connector for the server over which the organisation has control - rather than Visto).
But just to be clear, has anyone found a way to use Exchange ActiveSync with two different servers? (I suspect not)

could not really get the method. I want to syn two different mailboxes from the same server in the device. Tell me please the way to do it
I'd really like 2 OTA exchange connections... but I'll take what I can get.
Acct1: (OTA Home Exchange sync)
email, contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, etc
Acct2: (USB Work Exchange sync)
......, contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, etc
use seven.com to push email from acct2 OWA, acct3, and acct4
I'm currently using Funabmol to sync the 2 exchange setups via outlook...
mail from one exchange server, calendar/contacts from another...

Thought I would share it as i've been trying to figure out how sync my corporate email & calendar via one activesync server (company) and google contacts via another (the google server). So now I have both personal email (gmail IMAP) and work email (Exchange) and my personal contacts imported into the native contacts list.
Hope someone else finds this useful.
BTW, I also set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination to "1" instead of "0".

Hi all - got my HD2 three days ago and still tweaking bits and bobs as I see fit!
One of the things I haven't been able to work out is whether I can sync the calendar with my personally hosted .ICS calendar files? I host them on a personal FTP for shared use in Lightning/Thunderbird.
Is there any way at all of syncing them with my HD2? Whether it's a bit hacky and goes via Google Calendars or something else I don't really mind, as long as it works remotely.
Thanks in advance .
Argh, dropped off the first page already! Anyone?
i guess the google calendar is way to go. but it would be great if a XDA expert could post an a possible solution
I would like to see either HTC offer something to sync up to Yahoo calendar, or at least a third party app to sync up to Yahoo calendar myself!
Yahoo has now done away with the Yahoo GO! app, oddly enough only months after creating a "new" iphone App. Why does Yahoo always give Windows Mobile the finger?

Hi. I don't have a HD2, but in this period I am evaluating the purchase of a new WM smartphone, and I am searching info about my main requirements. One of them is just the sync with Outlook or (better) with Lighting/Thunderbird. Until now, I found that the best solution seems BirdieSync, http://www.birdiesync.com/features. Unfortunately it is not freeware, but it appears the most suitable for the task. I saw on the site that there is a full-functional demo, maybe you can try it.
Hope this helps.

"Can I sync with Live or Google Calendar?
Last Updated: March 02, 2010
Yes!
When you share your calendar with any user, that user will receive an email that will guide them through subscribing to your calendar.
Toward the bottom of that email, there will be a URL that looks like this:
ht[tp://calendar.yahoo.com/yahoo-id/XXXXXX/CalendarName.ics?id=001.
Anyone using a calendar that supports the iCalendar or .ics formats can use this URL to sync to your Yahoo! Calendar."

Hi - I hope it's ok to post this question here. I'm looking at the Tattoo and Hero builds for Vogue, and wondering if there is any way to continue syncing to MS Exchange for my work email and calendar, and also sync with my gmail/google contacts? It looks like the Droid can do this, and there seems to be some 3rd party software for this (but some of it looks sketchy, and without the device I can't check out the Marketplace myself).
It also seems like a really tall order...
I am running the Tatoo build and can confirm that Exchange sync works. I just inadvertently found that I was in fact also synching with my Google account as well. It groups all of your contacts together but does label them so you know where they came from. The Exchange e-mail is seperate from the Gmail email (two seperate apps) so it does not combine those.
Have an issue with my current GTab sync with Exchange 2003
Tried doing this twice already and still no solution yet (i tried searching around but no forums have give me a proper solution as well).
Issue is like this:
1. Setup email, contact and calendar sync with Exchange 2003
2. emails are coming through fine .. no problems here
3. Contacts only 300 ++ contacts came in out of 900++
4. Calendar appointments not synced at all
Anyone encountered this problem?
I just set up my tab from Sprint and it synced fine with my exchange 2003 server.
Maybe reset your device and try again?
Me too. Make sure yiu go into calendar and then tell it how many days you want to sync.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Weird ... Mine just refuse to work... As a workaround ... I'm using touchdown to sync my calendar and contacts....
Very strange...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
It's a setting on the Exchange server that's causing it, though I can't recall what it is. Co-worker had the same problem with his Nexus One.
Even though Touchdown costs money, it's a much better solution for Exchange 2003 users IMO.
For me, the ability to have tasks, email and my calendar in one place is worth it. I just moved to the Tab from an iPhone4 and not having to screw with Toodledo sync and a third party task app is a godsend!
The only thing I miss is not having projects, but I'll just use categories for that
Oh, and in case anyone asks, I just used the iPhone as an always connected PDA. I barely used the voice capabilities. That was easy to replace with Skype

I faced the same problem. Calendar doesn't sync with DDJK3 firmware in India.
I flashed XXJM6 Europe firmware from www.samfirmware.com and everything started working fine. Looks like JK series has some issues, JM fixed it looks like
Mail, Calender n contacts all are syncing well.
