Hello to everybody!
Few moths ago I've edited a Trinity's ROM (AX3L v3.1.2.c) to speedup and boost my device...anyway I've left the "cooking" when my device jump to floor and become broken...
So, I have noticed that many people try to make their own ROM to boost their device (and adding some personalizations)....but making a ROM is difficult (not to much..) and need too time....
Some days ago, a friend ask to me to do a ROM for him (just to "optimize" his device), but I don't have so much time now for create and test it....
He tried some Customization-Tools, but some time don't understud what was done/which option choose/etc...
For this reason I've created a simply CAB installer to improove/optimize any WM5/6 Device...for newmbies or who don't want cookin' a custom ROM....simply install&play!
Here is the list of included tweaks:
. Disconnect GPRS/UMTS button and a timer display showing how long GPRS is in use for the session
. Max TCP Windows Size
. Max PIE Download = 8
. Low WMP background quality
. Live Search now use Google.com
. SMS Sent Notification is disabled
. Show Battery on top bar at Today screen
. Customer Feedback Service OFF
. SQM Service OFF
. Today Date Plugin on one line
. Menu animation OFF
. Removed (only when useless!) the scroolbars when read/writea SMS/Email/MMS/etc...
. Enable WiFi PEAP Authentication with privately signed server certificates
. All Security Restriction are OFF
. Ask where to install a program
. Keep CAB files around after installing
. Prompt before overwriting an existing installation
. Big font cache
. Enable file system cache
. Improoved battery life
. EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA icons enabled
. Enabled Purge Sim contacts when no Sim is present
. Vibra-feedback when press any dialpad's key
. Low Battery warning in now configurable
. OBEX protocol enabled
. Few settings

CAB #2: .NET FrameWork v3.5 Booster
This other CAB is for who have already installed or want install the ".NET FrameWork v3.5"
It simply speedup your device....
NOTE: IF you ALREADY have .NET FrameWork v3.5 on your device, simply install the CAB #2....BUT, IF you HAVEN'T already installed .NET v3.5, you must install it before install CAB #2 !!!

For some reasons, CABs #1 and #2 aren't UNInstallable. So, you "must" create a backup before install it in order to restore the default system!

So what changes does cab #2 change, if any?

good stuff bud....not to be one to stifle innovation and new things...I have to ask the simple question that immediately popped into my mind...How does this differ from Schaps Advanced Config?

How do we know if we have the tweaks already in our custom rom. I am sure all roms use the net framework, but how would we know if the booster is setup?
Would we cause any problems if we install your cabs?

Umm, the fact that this is automatic and not manual

second cab just sets 3.5 as default .net...
same thing you may set by using netcfcfg.cpl

will be trying it right away.

You can make those changes manually, so you can even restore the default setting.
Key: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETCompactFramework
Dword:
2.0.7045.00 -> Set to 0
3.5.7283.00 -> Set to 1
To revert the changes restore the original values.

hs anyone tried this on the Rapael/Touch Pro?
As i have tried various tweaks to change the soft keys but they didnt work.

Tried it on my Polaris running udK's Syrius rom with Manilla 2D.
- All today items are gone (also Manilla 2D) except time/date which is the only item left in the list of selectable today plugins
- 3G keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every few seconds. The white "connection" dialog keeps poping up and is totally annoying.
The one fix I was after was about allowing custom certificates on PEAP auth for WiFi (we use that at work). Could you isolate that fix and give my a hint (registry etc)?

well, i installed it and it completely ****ed my system up. now on the today plugins menu in settings there is only one option and it's without text.. which is the date plugin.. other than that i have no today plugins.

Extracted the cab to see what's inside. Do you mind explaining what the following files are?

Custat.dll, Ceipui.exe - disable customer feedback I guess?
compse_sms.htm, compose_style.css, read_sms.htm, read_style.css - remove txt msg scrollbars (if not necessary)?

same here... and it wont let me un instal... pleeeeease fix this. i need my today screen back. i troed re instaling them and rebooting but there gone... my advice.

Try this cab guys...he had the \hklm\software\microsoft\today\items\ key with the today plugins from his own device included in the cab for some strange reason. This will definately fix the 'today items' problems...but other problems...you'll have to ask him
EDIT: If you installed his original cab...it probably screwed your today items settings which 'i dont think/know' how it can be restored...hard reset I guess?

God....these are "few settings"....go to Setting -> Today -> Item and re-enable your plugins....
So, I've tested on Trinity and ELF using so many ROM version, and I never looked "3G keeps disconnecting etc..."

In that early state of booting, I don't think any of registry entries or other user preferences are loaded, so you can edit them to do such a thing. I think it's a standard procedure of the device to selftest.
It seems to be cooked into the rom or the radio.
This is a personal opinion.
Let the cook experts to write their own.

I don't think this it possible,
And this is probably made for testing the vibrator.. So HTC can check if it's working without starting up the whole phone.

try Advanced config. You can disable the animation/short movie at start-up, but about vibration ... I don't know. You can try

How do you turn on Auto Rotate?

I couldn't find it in the settings...

There is no auto rotate, except in a few applications, such as Opera, the Photos & Videos tab, the Music tab etc..
You can either install something like BsB Tweaks and then tell it which programs you want to be able to autorotate, or you can install rotation software that allows you to switch when you choose.
BsB Tweaks can be found by searching the Themes & Apps forum, and a toggler app can be found in my signature - PLToggle.
There's various other apps out there, but those 2 offer the different styles of rotation for the device.

try bsbtweak. you can easily add or remove programs to auto rotate or not...
or you'll have to manually add the program to whitelist in registry...

hey, i tried both gyrator and BsB Tweaks on my AT&T Tilt2 and it works. but on HD2 not possible because it requires stylus hardware support inside the device.
i hope someone can try and verify on their HD2

How to keep wifi on ????

Hello everyone,
I just got my Hd2 few days ago and there is olny two things pissing me off with that phone.
1st is the wifi, that is disconnecting shortly after the screen goes black(battery saving i suppose). I listen to the internet radio over wifi and it stops after screen goes black. Is there any way to keep it on all the time?????
Second thing is the divx support. I have a divx 0.93 program on it bot i doesnt have all the codecs in it. What is the best divx player out there?

wifi during standby can be enabled with BSB Tweaks. its a modding tool with many features.
for playing vids i would say best is CorePlayer....

thanks for replying i found many interesting options in bsb, includimg one responsible to keep wifi on in standby. i switch it on, phone asks for reboot, turns on ans that option is switched off again. Same story with startup animation, it never switches it off. ??????? is there reason why that may not work?

Its because that registry entry reverts to default whenever you reset the device.
With a reg editor go to HKLM - comm - bcmsddhd1 - parms
In that folder there should be an entry called htckeepwifionwhenunattended
change the value to 1 and your sorted.

Or use this CAB - this is the same thing like conantroutman advice you, but packed to installer.

Thanks franq thats very handy, does the cab need to be used after a reset or does it keep the setting permanently?

Forget about that weird cab, god knows what it does.
BSBTweaks wifi during standby option indeed doesn't work.
Better to use WifiNoStandby, install once, and that's it. No need to do anything again.
For divx; CorePlayer is the best option out there.

Plz. Tricks and mods for a longer lasting battery charge.

There is a few power managment options in "AdvacedConfigTool"(search forum for it) , but I haven't tested it yet.

There are many threads on this topic already........
But generally speaking use advanced configurations tools, diamond tweak and/or SK Tools to change your settings.....

Well there is no such thing as stupid just "less" experienced and "senior".......and what for you is too slow is good enough for somebody else....
Go to advanced conf tools section performance and choose the advised options per selection......you hardly can go wrong there.
But remember that low energy means less performance and the other way round....

Hey, just a minor info. guess u might already knew but try to set ur phone to "ring" only and change to "vibrate" when u are outside or in a big crowd. It shows a big diff. to my mega as it start the second day with battery still 100% when i changed to ring only. Just try to get loud ringtone. Vibrate just when u are in a club or sumthing.
