ActiveSync Issue...Server Changed ReSync Required - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello,
I was unsure of which thread category to post this, so I did a couple.
Have a AT&T Fuze with the NRG v2.0 41609 ROM. Running MSO2007, specifically Outlook 2007 through Exchange on my company's network. I do not know what Exchange server version we are running.
Here is the issue...
On occasion, perhaps 1-2 times per day I must completely resync my Fuze contacts, calendar, etc, etc with Outlook 2007. Why? The "server" changed. Sorry, the error message I recently got and have gotten in the past essentially says the data on the server has changed and I must resync all of the data the Fuze. I do not recall the EXACT message. Bottom line though is nothing "changed" at least by me.
Also, under the Settings > Connections there is a "Edit my Proxy setting choice and it auto checks and completes an entry xxxxxxx.com for the server address. I have unchecked, rechecked, etc hoping this helps aovid this regular resync.
Lastly, the resync takes about 90 minutes given all of the contacts, calendar, email and if it did not take so long I would not fret about it.
So why and why might I change to avoid this.
Thanks in advance,
m0
P.S. I search but frankly was uncertain what to put as search words to increase the applicable hits

Only 1 out of my 2 email accts retrieves new email messages?

Hello guys,
Currently I have an HP Ipag h6315 running Windows Mobile 2003. I have setup 2 emails account on my PDA ( Gmail & Bellsouth ).
I set both accounts to connect and retreive new messages every 2 minutes; however, only the account "checked" under ACCOUNTS will be the one that connects and retreive the email messages.
Shouldn't both accounts connect every 2 minutes and get new messages?
for example:
- If i go to inbox, it'll default to the inbox of whatever account i have checked under "accounts". if i check bellsouth, i'm able to see my messages from my bellsouth email address; however, after i close it and go back to the today screen, then only "Bellsouth" will connect and get new emails every 2 minutes.
- If i want Gmail to be the one to connect the every 2 minutes then i would have to go to inbox and check Gmail in order to gmail to be the one to connect every 2 minutes.
I dont know if that's the way its supposed to be, since i have set the option to connect every 2 minutes on both accts.
If anyone knows of this issue and happens to have a solution for it, i really appreciate it. Or perhaps is just a non-fixed bug.
thank you in advance,
Will V.
Unfortunately I think it's a bug in the Universal. I've been dealing with this problem since I got my Universal several months ago. Originally I thought it was a Windows Mobile 2005 problem, but I've had confirmation from several Wizard users (which is also WM2005) that their devices will check multiple accounts automatically.
For the time being I've gotten used to making sure my universal is always on my most important account and simply switching to my other account and manually checking it periodically. I'm hoping that this will be fixed in the next ROM upgrade.
Brett
Same problem for me in my Qtek 9000. Only the "active" account cheks mail automatically, no the others accounts. I´m asking for the solution in several forums but no possible. I think is a problem on WM5.
Actually it might be a problem with both WM3 (what i'm using) and WM5 (what you guys are using) kind of sucks to be having to switch in between accts in order get your new messages... if that's the case, that's a quality that the blackberrys will always outperformed the Windows mobile devices.
I'm sorry Will, I misread your first message. I believe it's a known issue in WM2003... it was supposed to be fixed in Wm2005, but there are still problems with the universal, at least.
Brett
I have the same issue.
Its a Pocket Outlook issue, as when I bought and switched to WebIS Mail, there wasnt an issue anymore. Works like a dream, no issues w/ it EVER and wil try to use wifi instead of gprs if you are on a wireless network, giving you a good speed burst w/ the universal...
Still on Pocket Outlook...is it possible to have a 'replay to' address specified for an e-mail account?
I can see that webIS Mail has the opiton but couldn't find it on Outlook.
thanks,

Exchange not showing new mail...

Ok, got my SSL cert sorted out, and BAM it worked, sync'd my email, tasks etc.
If I send mail, it goes immediately, no problem.
However, new mail will not display until some random time! If I do a manual sync it shows "Connecting...syncronizing...New Mail 1/5...5/5" but then that new mail doesn't appear! I can see it on the local machine, but it won't show on the PDA. Hours later when I'm not paying attention, it Dings! you have 5 new messages!
Any suggestions?
... anyone?
You running Exchange 2003 or 2007? What ROM are you using, what radio rom etc. Give some details.
Yeah I suppose some detail is involved...DUH One of these day's I'll get it in my sig.
Cingular 8525 w/PDA Unlimited
1.40 Radio
SPLv7 Oli
Custel 1.3 and 2.5
Exchange Server 2003
Since I reflashed to Custel 2.5 and it is the same, I'm assuming there is some issue on the Exchange end.
Does your Exchange server have SP2 installed? If it does not, it doesn't automatically PUSH your e-mails. Check that out and get back to me.
Yes, manager confirmed that it is running SP2.
I've also confirmed that it isn't ROM specific, I've ran it thru 4 ROMS in the last few days, all with the same problem.
Do you have PDA Connect Unlimited or PDA Personal Unlimited? With the latter, some forums are reporting problems with Push Xpress Mail. I assume that you have gone into the settings for Xpress Mail and enabled Push. If you have not - it is in Programs - that will resolve your problem.
He said he's syncing directly with Exchange 2003 SP2, so I don't believe Xpress Mail is involved.
That said, pkley, are you certain your GPRS connection is staying up (and, more importantly, usable?). If so, CUSTEL 2.5 has TaskMan RegEdit. Run it then use the NetStats function to see if you have an ESTAB connection to port 443 (HTTPS) of your Exchange Server's IP address. If not, you ain't pushin'.

Thanks for the tip - yes I did show a port 443 connection to my exchange server IP address, and it DID show ESTAB. However, I sent an email to my work email, verified it showed up in my webmail, refreshed the Net Stats, now it's showing TIME_WAIT.
Any suggestions?
p.s. I'm now running your variant vp3g!
Updated
Ok, left my device alone for a while, checked net stats, now it said error... Pipe Closed, or something like that.
I checked Comm Manager, the Push icon was off, then after a bit came back on, message stayed the same.
Opened Async, showed connected. Checked net stats, still Pipe Closed/closing?
Did a manual sync, showed Syncronizing... Email 1/1, Finished, then repeated by itself, 3 times... Net stats showed ESTAB, but message never actually showed up in inbox.

Real stupid question here, but are you sure you actually have new mail in your Exchange inbox when you do a sync? I've seen my device do the Email 1/1 thing before, without any new messages. You only really have new messages if the device says "Processing...". I believe when it does the Email 1/1 thing it's syncing your Sent Items, among other things.
@pkley: Hmmm... you may have more than one thing plaguing you.
"The pipe is being closed" sounds as if your GRPS connection has dropped. ActiveSync (when working properly) would normally keep it alive. Are you able to browse with PIE when Net Stats reports this state?
"TIME_WAIT" sounds as if the HTTPS connection to your Exchange Server has dropped and I'm guessing it enters that state within x minutes of getting connected. This could be caused by the firewall on the Exchange side. M$ recommends setting the timeout value for HTTPS connections to 30 minutes. Most firewalls have a default value that is much lower. In my experience an incorrect value won't prevent push from working altogether, though.
Also doesn't make sense that some messages would never come through even when you manually sync... are you sure about that?
What carrier are you on?
Ok, just checked current status, I've pretty much ignored my phone all day.
Net Stats shows ESTAB. Sent myself an email, checked Async - showed Synchronizing - Email 1/1 - Completed. Synchronizing - Email 1/1 - Completed. Synchronizing - Email 1/1 - Completed.
Check inbox, email is NOT there. Most likely it'll show up in a couple hours...
In the time it took me to type the above, Net Stats is now showing TIME_WAIT.
Sent myself another email, Net Stats did not change, checked Async, showed Connected. Checked webmail via device, Checked Net Stats, showed 2 connections ESTAB. Closed IE. Net Stats now shows Error (232): The pipe is being closed. 1 minute later it reverted back to TIME_WAIT.
Did a manual sync, first it showed 2/2, then 1/1, then 1/1 again. Net Stats shows 2 connections, one TIME_WAIT and one ESTAB.
It has to be something in our Exchange server, my manager is also having somewhat similar but different issues... GAAAAAA!
Just to follow up on your other points, yes the messages DO NOT COME THRU to my inbox even on a manual sync, that's what so incredibly frustrating! It SHOWS them downloading, but they just don't appear! Then hours later or the next morning I notice - hey I've got mail!
When Net Stats shows pipe being closed, I can hit IE and Gmail and it opens no problem, net stats simply changes to show the new status.
I'm on Cingular with the PDA Unlimited plan.

Yes, I'm sending test emails from a separate account, visually verifying either via Remote Desktop or Webmail that the emails are actually in my inbox.
It isn't showing Sent items because I'm not sending any while testing...
Wow, that's all very odd. Few thoughts based on your observations:
- The repeated synchronizing 1/1 doesn't seem right. Almost sounds as if it tries 3 times then gives up considering the e-mail never appears.
- Additional ESTAB/TIME_WAIT connections will appear in Net Stats when you use PIE. You need to pay attention to the IP and port. Push mail will always be on 443 of your Exchange Server's IP (rest of them will probably be on port 80 to various addresses). My push connection never goes to TIME_WAIT (that I've ever observed, anyway).
- "Pipe is being closed" has almost got to mean your GPRS connection has dropped. Are you monitoring it's status during your testing? You can also use the IP address function of TaskMan to see what's going on there.
I'm beginning to think there are some config issues on the Exchange end, but none of this points to anything obvious and I'm still not sure that's the only problem. One thing you could try is setting up a Live Hotmail account... it does push as well (uses port 50001, however).
Fixed???
I was reading another post and was reminded about USB to PC connections and advanced connection settings. Unchecked and I think it actually is working!
I'll know more tomorrow for sure!
Nope, still not working properly... However, I did read a post elsewhere regarding the same symptoms and their Firewall/AV, so maybe that's a direction to look.

Direct Push - Connects & Syncs, but Inbox is empty

I've searched and searched, but I can't seem to find anyone with this problem.
Basically, I'm trying to get my new Treo 750 to sync over wireless with my Exchange server. I run the Exchange server from my own house, on it's own domain. I've upgraded the Treo 750 to WM6. I previously did not try wireless sync on WM5. My Exchange server is 2003 SP2.
At first, I tried connecting via SSL only to get a message about the certificate not being valid. After fighting and fighting with trying to get the cert on the phone, I finally gave up and disabled SSL on the device in an attempt to connect.... via any means possible.
What I first thought was success has turned into another problem. I know I'm communicating with the server, as the policy from the domain controller made me set a device password. It was at that point that I knew I was getting somewhere. Now, when I hit "sync", I see it checking for changes. At the bottom of the screen, it'll run through each step: Contacts, Calendar, Email and Tasks.
Let me see if I can describe this..... It'll briefly pause at say... 0/80 for my Inbox, then count (very quickly, in large increments) till it hits the 80 and move on to the next item in the synchronization list. This cycle happens every 30 seconds or so.
When I go to look in my Inbox, it's empty. The only thing I see is at the bottom: "Outlook E-mail 0 Items". Same with Contacts, Calendar, etc...
Now here's the kicker. If I send myself a test email from an outside account... say, Gmail, the sync app will then show "Email 0/81", then tick up to 81 and move on to the next item. However, nothing is downloaded. I can pull up a list of all the personalized folders I've created for my mailstore, and they're all there. I can "subscribe" to them, yet they remain empty as well.
I'm completely at a loss. I don't know what else to do at this point, and it's proving to be a difficult thing to search for. Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated....
Well i do not use Direct Push but maybe the guys at Treo 750 forums can help you more, here is the Blueangel WM6 section

push gmail problems?

Hi!
I was trying to use push gmail but I only got an error
0x8600050c
I can sync contacts and calendar, but no emails, if I check the email, then i got that error.
Someone else is in the same situation?
Same error here... Anyone got solutions?
I've reset the phone, input the settings multiple times (I'm sure they're correct), checked that my carriers default internet access isn't set via proxy, turned off/on POP on my Gmail settings....
A couple of pointers to look out for:
-You want to make sure you're only trying to sync Calendar, Contacts & Email. DON'T try and sync Tasks or Texts cos they don't work (yet hopefully).
-Make sure the username you're using is <myname>@gmail.com not @googlemail.com like the tutorial used to say.
-If it stops syncing after a few weeks of use. Sometimes you just have to do a manual sync by going into connection manager and hitting the Sync button and sometimes the only way to solve it seems to be just delete the whole Exchange profile for googlesync and set it up again from scratch.
Hope one of these is going to solve your problem cos I'm all out of ideas. Works fine on my WinMo6.5 device.
Yup, I was aware of both the @gmail and restriction to Cal/Contacts/Email, neither of those are my problem.
Mine is syncing using @googlemail.com but it does not work when doing send/receive for my folders which is annoying as I don't want to keep on syncing hundred's of folders each time I get a new mail.
also youc ant have a "/" in any of your gmail labels (which are often autmoatically created when you imap your gmail on your desktop i.e. Inbox/ebay Inbox/work etc
Same problem here...
I have the same problem and the same error code.
Tried to sync my phone for the first time yesterday and spent the better part of the night troubleshooting why I was getting the 0x8600050c error code... Tried all the possible fixes including making sure Tasks are deselected, Syncing only Contacts & Calendar, no '/'s in labels etc....
However, now I realise that after browsing the google help forums that a lot of people seem to be having this problem in the last 24-32 hours. Quite a few recent messages have been posted on this.
It seems like Google Sync push has been erratic ever since it was released. They fixed the problems in the middle, but it seems that they are back now. You would hope that a firm with the resources like Google would atleast put a status page updating users of outages...
If someone figures out a solution to this problem please post...!
Phone: HTC Touch Pro2
OS: Winmo 6.5
Carrier: Vodafone UK
Same problem for me here!
I'm sorry (I'm not rubbing it in honest ) but my GMail has been working perfectly for the last couple of weeks. So maybe it's just newly set up accounts?
For those that have gmail working via activesync, how quick is it? when a message arrives on your desktop how much later does it take to arrive on your phone. I am seeing some delayed responses and having moved from Blackberry back to WM its not good.
I have it running over HSDPA (3G) with exchange server and it arrives on my phone before it gets to my desktop pc.

I know its been done and said, but would you mind doing a checklist on what settings you have got working for you?
On Gmail do you have POP3 enabled and IMAP enable or one on and the other off.
i've been having the same issue - calendar and contacts fine, but i can't sync mail.
i know it isn't the settings / labels issues mentioned here as I have it syncing fine on my kaiser...
Hmm. OK think we got crossed wires there. I thougth we were talking about GMail syncing in general. I was talking about my Tinity. Now I have the HD2 setup, it's not working for mail ether.
Same as everyone else, I have contacts and calendar working but no mail. It will get the mail if I set it up as a normal mail account but not with the syncing push type exchange account I can't see any errors, it's just not getting the mail
The thing is I get my mail, but just slow. I am not syncing contacts or anything else.
Sympathize with you Chimpsinties

hmmm. no hashes in any labels (i never imported / synced) from outlook. but still no joy...
same problem on my td2.
syncing of calendar and contacts works fine. but no mail.
funny thing is when i set it up the last weekend it all worked perfectly for about two days and suddenly error 0x8600050c.
i played arond a lot with googleapps after the setup and i thought this might be the reason it s not working any more.
so here is a list of things i tried to get it working again, well, still without success:
- looked for hashes in my labels (never had any though)
- deleted all labels
- change language from german to english and back
- deleted the tasks from my tasklist in gmail/calendar
- changed my password to alphabetical characters only
- registered a new gmail account without any changes
- changed the mail folder of gmail in wdmc that should be synced
some things that surely wouldnt help since it seems to be a google issue but i was desperate
- reinstalled wmdc
- flashed different roms
but damn it s still not working again. *sigh* gotta switch to windows-live if they dont get this fixed.
Hmm I think the problem with the gmail sync makes the rom of the hd2 itself because I also have a Touch Pro 2 and a Toshiba TG01 and on both of them its working fine so I try to import the active sync files and if it will work after that I´ll tell you!

[Push Mail] How to configure Gmail account ?

I was wondering if its possible to get pushmail for gmail without using outlook ?
Is this possible ? Am I supposed to use IMAP or POP mail ?
Please help, thanks
If you setup mail, it will automatically setup for IMAP.
You configure for how often it checks the server.
Thanks I just did that, but the problem is it checks every 5 minutes, thats not exactly push mail is it ?? It should have the option "As mail arrives"
I tried deleting an email from my inbox, but when I check online, its still there (the actual gmail inbox) .. it seems they are not really in function are they ?
EDIT : Okay The messages got deleted in the browser inbox after 5 minutes ... So the email syncs every 5 minutes
How can I make it an instant connection (pushmail) ??
Actually Outlook Mobile 2007/2010 still pulls from IMAP instead of receiving pushes (Microsoft doesn't exactly know about IDLE). You'll want to set up an Exchange connection. See here for more details about Google Sync.
You'll want to configure the server manually. You can find ActiveSync somewhere into your Start menu, otherwise just go to the Sense settings tab, Data Service and ActiveSync to configure the server, then follow the instructions from the link above.
Thank you very much, that worked, and I can choose "As item arrives" now
One last thing, is it possible to change the email name from Outlook to something else ? e.g. Gmail ?
ZaZu90, what domain did you choose while configuring the connection? I can't click next unless I choose a domain, since the activesync software is different and probably newer than the one used in the google instructions...
I followed Yunabeco's link, the domain was left blank.
You have to initiate the email settings from active sync, not from adding a new account.
Check the intsturctions ^^
Yes I am trying to do the same but as I said I cannot leave the domain blank, i HAVE to fill in something in order to continue configuring the connection...
And apparently I am not the only one with this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5382949&postcount=4
Hmm this is strange, does it have to do with the location of purchase ?
Im not sure :S
I don't think it has to do with the location of purchase. Thanks for your help though. I am using dutty's holy grail 0.3a rom (wm6.5 build 21889, Base 2.01). What are you using?
Chaps,
have you had a look at this ....http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138636
Might help you.

Yea, that's the same document as earlier in this thread, but the problem is that the instructions don't work on some devices.. see the previous page
I just did the Push Mail setup (used the link from Yunabeco post)
I had no problem with the instructions, but for some reason it will only get the mail when I do an ActiveSync.
The ActiverSync chedule is set to sync during Peak times (As Items arrive) and off-peak times (As Items arrive).
The Use above settings and Send/Receive when I click Send) are als set to on.
Did I miss a setting as it's not working for me the way it should, or do I need to set something in my Gmail account also?

Barty,
Surprised at this. I set this up the other day on my device in order to talk someone through it and it worked. Deleted it as I don't need push mail right now.
Wondered if those who can't get it working can put down the steps they have taken to setup on their devices and we can see how we can help?
WB
I wonder if its possible to set up multiple push mail accounts ?
Gonna search for that now, if anyone got a link before I finish my little research, please add it !
