I know this has come up in at least one of the very long image threads;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3783059&postcount=3109
but I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a solution available for this?
After 1.5, it seems that when you type a new SMS, and look up a contact, if the contact is filed with a comma (for instance, "lastname, firstname"), two identical messages will be sent.
Other than exporting all my contacts (close to 900) as a csv file and reformat the naming to "firstname lastname" or something, does anyone know of any other solutions?
Does anyone know what exactly causes this behavior which I am pretty sure came with the 1.5 upgrade (personally I'm using JF1.5, but another user confirms this also happens on the official 1.5) ?
Regards,
Christopher
PS. I'm sorry if my questions already have been answered, but with threads more than 300 pages long it's not too easy neither to search for or navigate and find the relevant messages...

Hi guys,
sorry to get back on this question, but it is really bugging me off:
When I try to send an sms to SOME contacts, my 9100 sends me to the generic SMS form - without pre-filling the "To" field with the correct number.
Of course the contacts in question does have a mobile/sms number filled in. Also, I can't figure which contacts are affected.
And: the problem seems to happen only with the original Contacts form. SMSsing from Agenda Fusion works just right.
Editing over two characters in the "note" section of the contact seems to fix the problem FOR THAT SPECIFIC name only, but of course I'd like to find a more sensible solution.
Any suggestions?
no?
Sorry to return to an older topic, but nobody answered me and this bug is really annoying...
Sometimes selecting a contact and "send Sms" from its card pulls up a blank SMS form, without the receiver's number already typed in. This happens with some contacts only, but... HOW DO I FIX THIS?

Hmm... have you tried recreating the contact?
This happened to me before, when sending text messages, or even emails, it lets you just click on the space provided and puts in the contact numbers. However for SMS, use your stylus and tap on the "To:" word.
Ta da! It's actually on the manual and I've been trying to figure this thing out for a while myself. Good luck
I have tried this on my qtek and does not have this bug. Do you need to send sms this way or can you not select message\new then select to to get list of contacts - may solve your problem. If not prob a ROM problem - did a quick search cannot find any references to new qtek italian rom so suggest you go to qtek italian website to look for new rom. Or upgrade to WWE ROM
Good luck
Cutejules: I know you can use that workaround, but still the problem remains. Why only a few contacts have this bug? How can it be solved?
Meschle: I don't think there is any upgraded IT rom, but I will look about the WWE thing (which I don't know anything about, but I'm sure there are infos about somewhere in this forum)
i dont think it pulls up a blank page, the problem I noticed after a while is it pulls up a sms page and shows you half way down the page as if you have scrolled down.
the work around = scroll back up.

Click to collapse
the number should be saved as mobile, may be you saved it as somthing els like home or work.
Karzi: nope, it's the actual "To:" field which comes up blank.
Ammar: Nope again. The "missing" numbers are correctly listed as "mobile"
This is really driving me crazy...
After searching the forums I am unable to find an answer to this one.
How do I set HTC Home middle button (SMS) to open O2 SMS Plus instead of tmail when I press it. I searched the registry and came up dry and there is no setting I see in HHC. Actually if there is a way to set O2 SMS Plus as the default SMS/MMS application for the entire BA I would prefer that. I use Gmail for email and that requires tmail so I was afraid to change it in HKLM/software/microsoft/shell/rai/MSINBOX as I presumed I would lose access to Gmail.
Thanks in advance to all who answer.
Nobody knows
Well 2 days and 118 views with no responses pretty much implies that either I was not very clear or nobody has an answer.
In case I was unclear I am looking for a way to make O2 SMS Plus the default sms reader/composer instead of the MS one (tmail). But I must still use tmail for regular email such as Gmail.
Thanks again. Even if nobody knows this I have gleaned so much information from this forum/wiki that it won't hurt my feelings any.
You've probably had this answered long ago, but I thought I'd write in for anyone else who finds this thread.
The way to edit which program gets called through HTC Home is to edit the file HTCHome.dll with a hex editor, and then re-signing the dll. Unfortunately, HTCHome.dll only uses one reference to tmail.exe for both SMS and email, so if you change one it changes both of them. So the above isn't possible, I believe...
Hi guys,
I've searched the forum but couldn't find an answer so here goes...
In the HTC (SMS) messaging app (conversation mode) I am getting two entries for every person. Pressing either one, for the same person, brings up exactly the same messages. I've had a look in traditional mode and the messages themselves are not duplicated, neither are they when displayed in the Sense UI thingy!
I'm hoping this is just going to be some sort of database/text/xml file problem which if deleted will be re-built but things are never that simple!
I'd prefer an answer that doesn't involve a hard-reset as there are LOTS of text messages I'd rather keep (and again, the messages themselves are not duplicated, just their initial thread display entry in conversation mode)
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Check your contacts and see if they are not duplicated...
Have you used PIM backup? I get the problem when restoring messages from that?
Hi guys,
Thanks for your replies.
@DeadVirus: I've just checked my contacts and there are no duplicates on my phone and my SIM has no contacts on it.
@corny2007: I haven't used any kind of PIM backup software.
However, rather oddly, the problem has sort of fixed itself. By "sort of" I mean everything has returned to normal for all except one thread.Typically it's the one thread that probably gets used more than any other (you guessed it... its for a woman! ) and its probably the one that I least want to lose texts from!
I'm wondering if this is being caused by duplicate texts on the phone and SIM. Is there any software that allows the deleting of text messages on a SIM?
Once again, thanks for your help, any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, so I've found a "fix" for the one remaining duplicated thread: Delete all the messages and then undelete them one-by-one (which is no small task, given there is probably about 200 messages!).
Anyways, its fixed now. Thanks guys for your help.
Firstly, I'd like to apologise if this has been touched up on before, I did a search but couldn't find much.
Secondly, I've been reading the forums for a while and thought I'd register as to seek help for my little problem...

To put it simply, I have all my contacts stored in my Gmail account. After installing Wildpuzzle, I decided to clean up my contact list to make my phone a bit more organised.
The problem, is that when I receive a text message (SMS) from anyone, it does not show up as their name in my Messages app. It simply shows the full number (inc. international dialing code) with no picture and no name.
For example, let's say I save 'Bob' in my Contacts list as: "07123456789". When I receive a text it does not show 'Bob's name, only "+447123456789".
Now, if I was to edit 'Bob's contact card so it was stored as "+447123456789" then it does show his name.
Has anyone else come across this before? I don't really want to have to go through all the phone numbers in my Contacts and put +44 in front and remove the 0.
Thanks in advance.
Its a known bug, has been posted in the wildpuzzle-thread many times. But if you have all your numbers on gmail-account its pretty easy to put "+44" before the numbers on each contacts, it took me about 10 minutes, only having like 90 contacts, but anyway, not that hard to fix with a little time =)
Yeah, I had a feeling that this was the case due to the lack-of-response from people.
Anyway, got bored at work so I changed them all now. Bit of a pain in the arse, but you have to make these sacrifices for such great software
