horizontal desktop cradle - Touch Pro, Fuze Accessories

Has anyone seen a horizontal desktop cradle for the raphael? Essentially something that would allow the keyboard to stay open.
Thanks,
d

Found this one on the net.. looks cool.

Yea I wouldn't recommend this one. I bought one since I figured the $10 was an acceptable risk. Fuze was a VERY tight fit with my Bodyguardz installed. The rotate was cool but less useful than I thought. 2 days later my Fuze stopped being recognized while sitting in the cradle. I've spent more for stupider stuff so I'm over it. Time to order a new cradle. Something more conventional this time.

Mine
I had a cradle laying around from my 8125. I just had to rework the plug due to different orientation. It works great when I use it because I like to keep keyboard open. Will post a pic later.

How about this?

Why not buy a cheapie $5. windsheild car mount. They swivel, adjust angle, work with an open or closed device. You can use your wall charger or sync cable and even mount it up out of the way, like on the side of your computer!

I have extended battery and the phone stays on the side with screen slided out and usb cable connected. No need for cradle at all.

Any one tryed this accessories ?

i found this site with all TyTn II accessories ?
any one tryed them B4 ?

Nice to see some accys come out, the link looks to be soliciting wholesalers, I didn't see a buy button. The battery sample video shows a battery that does not have the metal shield that the stock battery has.
The cases don't do much for me, I'm hoping that PocketSolutions creates one.
Well, the upper left USB cradle definitely has not been thought through. If you look closely you see the TyTN II slides in from the left, keeping the USB connector exposed. The cradle nevetheless has a USB cable, so I am wondering where it connects to the TyTN II

I know that Piel Frama is working on one -- I wrote them a couple weeks back asking for info. They promised to send me an e-mail when they have sample cases ready.

Good eye, that "landscape" cradle is backwards!

GPS Car Mount For Tilt

Hey guys,
I'm looking to purchase a GPS mount for my car so I can use Garmin Mobile XT easily while driving.
Does anyone know of any good GPS mounts that are available?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks.
Regards,
Samad
www.proclipusa.com (which sells Brodit mounts) - IMO, very well worth the money.
I use the swivel mount on an center vent mount - perfectly situated in my line of sight, within easy finger-reach and with a convienent line down to a power-outlet for the car charger. Since the back speaker is open and unobstructed, voice nav comes through load and clear.
I'd like to purchase that, but my car is a 2008 Altima, so I have rounded vents.
I really would like to have a vent mount, but here is what my interior looks like:
http://www.automedia.com/NewCarBuye...san/Altima/Sedan/2007_Nissan_Altima_int_6.jpg
Based off of that, do you guys have any suggestions?
I ordered one of these over the weekend:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BFLFHQ
It has 3 different mounting options so I figure I should be able to find out which on I like best. I'll let you know what it's like when it comes in.

After looking at a whole bunch of options, I just ended up stopping by BB and getting this one....http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7695023&st=windshield+mount&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1138084373352
Since it's Universal, I won't have to replace it when I get me next device and because of it's design, it's easy to release my Tilt with one hand as opposed to the specially fitted mounts.
It's not as sexy as a fitted mount, but I think it works better.

Hmm that's a nice one. I may pick that up.
However, does anyone know if they make the mounts for Rounded vents like my car has?

So, I finally got this and I really like it. I'm using the suction cup attachment method and it works perfectly. Hasn't fallen off at all and the adjustment arm is very stiff, so my Tilt doesn't shake much. Placing it in the mount is easy too, easy enough to do with one hand, and releasing it from the mount is just as easy. Just push the button and the phone is released. Has padded clamps so nothing gets scratched. Best of all, it was very inexpensive.

does this cradle exist?

I am looking for a desktop cradle that will hold the Tilt upright that charges and has 3.5mm out on it.
google and you'll find
Hi :
how about this cradle
http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
2 out of 3 is good, but no dice. There is no 3.5mm out.
just buy a 3 in 1 to plug into the back of that charger and job done
Well, you could always use a standard Arkon windshield mount except mount it on your desktop. Then run the multiplug out of the bottom.
I would also think about two other options....
One, contact boxwave... they are pretty good about stuff like this...
Two, spend your money instead on a pair of Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones and listen to your Tilt via bluetooth... with the added benny of being able to answer your phone when it rings.
If you can get the site to work, Seidio online has one that I think will fit your need. Sync/charging plug and a 3.5 mm audio plug. I think it's US$29.95.

I tried the one from Seido and returned it. It is a generic base that is supposed to work for multiple phones and my Tilt did not sit in it well. The bottom left side of my phone did not touch the base when the phone was vertical in the charger so unless I put something under it to fill the gap the phone would Tilt to the left probably bending the USB connection.
That's good to know, I was contemplating one. I think now I will take my 3-in-one USB connector and some modeling compound and create my own.
Fund with arts and crafts. I'll let you know how it goes.
I am using the same 3 in 1 like this one >>>http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
I found it on ebay with a battery for less $$ about 6 months ago.
I saw that too, the difficulty I run into is that I use a form fitting case with a belt clip stud on the back. That means that all of the "device only" cradles, like what was in the prior message, won't work. I was thinking about the Seidio because it allowed for a skin case. Now that I hear it isnt very useful, I must consider other alternatives. Has anyone had success with the Seidio cradle?
Like I mentioned, my other alternative is to make my own by form fitting some sort of modeling compound around my Kaiser with case, then embedding the 3-in-1 cable in the compound at the right angle to fit the connector, then forming it to the correct angle. Sounds like a weekend project, now I just need to find the right material to do so. Hmmmmm.

Screen Rotate and Accessories

I finally got my MyTouch4G and after covering the entire thing in a stealth skin and putting it into a slim Tmobile acrylic case with grips and built in stand I ran into a little problem. I love the DeskApp on the phone which displays the weather and agenda as well as other details in a pretty slick little format. The problem is that the Application ONLY opens ONE WAY. Facing the charging jack. So basically I cannot use my stand and charge the phone while the desk app is open. I can only run the desk app when the phone is unplugged from the charger. Does anyone know how to get that app to have its bottom facing the camera button instead of the charching jack? Basically like a universal rotation?

You would have to edit the program somehow. If the source code were available for that app, it would definitely be easier. Could be as simple as changing a single parameter.
I don't know personally how to accomplish this... just letting you know what I feel is possible.

Will magnets mess up the phone? Making car dock

I just ripped some magnets out of an old hard drive and want to use them to make a car dock from a DIY I saw (http://forum.androidcentral.com/evo...completely-invisible-phone-vehicle-mount.html)
I am worried about putting a magnet on phone as it always been common sense that magnets + electronics = broken ****. Though, isn't it magnets in the commercial car docks that trigger car mode to pop up on the phone?
small magnets will not hurt - many phones have magnets as sensors - the blackberry determines holstered or not via a magnet in the holster. Other Moto phones determined if they are docked or not via magnets in the dock.
But, any magnet strong enough to keep the phone from bouncing loose could cause interference issues. I don't think you can do any permanent damage, but if things start acting wonky, it may be the magnet.
ok I ran a magnet over, stuck on a few points but car mode never came up. Know the right location/method?
be very careful of the speakers. I have a friend who tried to do the same thing and his speaker sounded really bad after that

As far as I've read, magnets trigger no dock on the Atrix.
It's thought to be resistances on the USB connectors that trigger different docks to come up.
Worst case scenario is that you create a shortcut on one of your homescreens that manually opens the car dock interface, which is extremely easy to do.
Speaker is ok. Plus I still have warranty and what not, thought id actually take some kind of risk considering all the hard work devs do.
So, FOR ME, rubbing the magnet over the back of the phone did not cause any noticeable harm yet. The magnet would center about an inch above the speakerphone speaker in the center.

Hmmmm, saw that for the multimedia dock. I dont see where to find the car dock program. I looked in apps and dont see it. Is it accessed from somewhere else?

I don't have my phone on me at the moment (managed to forget it along with some other stuff as I left my house for class this morning).
I think its something like (this is with Launcher Pro):
Long press home
Create custom shortcut
Activities
Select Car Dock -> Cardock.main.cardockmainactivity
Name shortcut
If that doesn't work, I'll try it when I get home tonight.

I tried it myself and it works great, thanks.
Yup that works great. Thanks! Now to figure out how it turns on when put in a dock.
Wait so for the mount to work, you would have to setup the charger? that blows, the magnet turning on the phone is better.

well, you would press the shortcut
What's really weird to me is that the other day Cardock was showing up in my app list all the time, now it has disappeared and I have to add it the way you listed above. What caused it to disappear?

I meant figure out how putting the phone in the car dock makes the phone turn on. I understood pushing the button would start dock mode
The old flip phones (StarTac) would typically use a magnet to sense if they were open/closed. AFAIK there's nothing in the new phones that understands magnetism at all, much less is harmed by it.
The microUSB standard provides for "sensing" by means of placing a fixed resistance across the new fifth wire. Devices see a set resistance, look it up internally, and determine what device has been attached. I suspect Moto is using this sensing to signal what dock a phone is plugged into--all part of a standard.
FWIW, cell phones going back at least to the original Palm Treos have done something similar, they look at the impedance of whatever is plugged into the ear/mic socket, and then configure themselves for earbuds, mono ear/mic, and other different devices all plugged into the same socket. This is mature and invisible technology by now.
