Hey guys,
I'm looking to purchase a GPS mount for my car so I can use Garmin Mobile XT easily while driving.
Does anyone know of any good GPS mounts that are available?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks.

www.proclipusa.com (which sells Brodit mounts) - IMO, very well worth the money.
I use the swivel mount on an center vent mount - perfectly situated in my line of sight, within easy finger-reach and with a convienent line down to a power-outlet for the car charger. Since the back speaker is open and unobstructed, voice nav comes through load and clear.
I'd like to purchase that, but my car is a 2008 Altima, so I have rounded vents.
I really would like to have a vent mount, but here is what my interior looks like:

Based off of that, do you guys have any suggestions?
I ordered one of these over the weekend:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BFLFHQ
It has 3 different mounting options so I figure I should be able to find out which on I like best. I'll let you know what it's like when it comes in.

After looking at a whole bunch of options, I just ended up stopping by BB and getting this one....http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7695023&st=windshield+mount&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1138084373352
Since it's Universal, I won't have to replace it when I get me next device and because of it's design, it's easy to release my Tilt with one hand as opposed to the specially fitted mounts.
It's not as sexy as a fitted mount, but I think it works better.

Hmm that's a nice one. I may pick that up.
However, does anyone know if they make the mounts for Rounded vents like my car has?

So, I finally got this and I really like it. I'm using the suction cup attachment method and it works perfectly. Hasn't fallen off at all and the adjustment arm is very stiff, so my Tilt doesn't shake much. Placing it in the mount is easy too, easy enough to do with one hand, and releasing it from the mount is just as easy. Just push the button and the phone is released. Has padded clamps so nothing gets scratched. Best of all, it was very inexpensive.

I recently bought myself a motorbike. I use my M5000 for satnav using TomTom v6. At present I put it in the clear part of a small tank bag, which works reasonably well, but is rather low to be seen easily.
Does anyone know, or have any cool ideas of how I can mount it on the bike, perhaps on the handlebars? Of course it would need to be waterproof...
First, for those people responding - only please post replies having to do with the below four requirements, it would make it a much easier read for everyone involved, thanks. I am going nuts looking and cannot find a unit meeting the 4 below requirements. I have been looking for a long, long time. I am willing to do some extra installation work to get this done properly. If I cannot get an answer here there is probably no hope so I may then defenestrate! Requirements:
1. SMALL holder that can attach to a HORIZONTAL surface (not a huge geeky looking contraption with huge arms or snaking bendable supports, no huge sand-filled weights - minimal size - also power supply not on the holder which makes it bulky)
2. Allows the Kaiser to be switched between landscape/portrait position
3. Allows the Kaiser to be held with the keyboard open if preferred
4. Full functionality for auto-charging, interrupting radio speakers when turn by turn directions are spoken by GPS on the unit (extra wires and transformer kit to be hidden for installation - AND NO USE OF CIGARETTE LIGHTER!). Power supply for charging the unit must be OFF when car is not in use, so as not to wear out car battery (I would assume that is just an installation preference).
Anybody have any ideas?

Is there something about the Proclip holder that doesn't meet those criteria? The only thing I can find is connectivity to the stereo. For me, I redirect the GPS audio to my Bluetooth headset where I can hear it better anyway.
Yeah, Proclips is your best bet. There's nothing that does all that out-of-box on the market right now. If you want to hook it up directly into your stereo system, then of course you're going to have to do that yourself. Or use bluetooth.
I guess there is nothing on the market
The solutions from Proclip that you suggest have no way of mounting the unit on a flat horizontal surface without damaging the car - I guess I would have to use one or two of these:
http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionp...egoryid=&p_year=&p_countryid=0&p_leftorright=
from proclips to mount the holder (have to drill holes on the mounting surface).
Since the Tilt will work with the soon to be released higher capacity Micro SD cards (now only 8GB available but the tilt would be able to handle up to 32GB - when available) it would be nice to add the audio (music) as an automatically overriding input for the car's audio as well, for that I will have to use the hack mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339263
for replacing the plug on the unit with one that includes the audio out...
I will post pics once I figure out what direction I want to go with this...
I am looking for a desktop cradle that will hold the Tilt upright that charges and has 3.5mm out on it.
google and you'll find
Hi :
how about this cradle
http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
2 out of 3 is good, but no dice. There is no 3.5mm out.
just buy a 3 in 1 to plug into the back of that charger and job done
Well, you could always use a standard Arkon windshield mount except mount it on your desktop. Then run the multiplug out of the bottom.
I would also think about two other options....
One, contact boxwave... they are pretty good about stuff like this...
Two, spend your money instead on a pair of Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones and listen to your Tilt via bluetooth... with the added benny of being able to answer your phone when it rings.
If you can get the site to work, Seidio online has one that I think will fit your need. Sync/charging plug and a 3.5 mm audio plug. I think it's US$29.95.

I tried the one from Seido and returned it. It is a generic base that is supposed to work for multiple phones and my Tilt did not sit in it well. The bottom left side of my phone did not touch the base when the phone was vertical in the charger so unless I put something under it to fill the gap the phone would Tilt to the left probably bending the USB connection.
That's good to know, I was contemplating one. I think now I will take my 3-in-one USB connector and some modeling compound and create my own.
Fund with arts and crafts. I'll let you know how it goes.
I am using the same 3 in 1 like this one >>>http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
I found it on ebay with a battery for less $$ about 6 months ago.
I saw that too, the difficulty I run into is that I use a form fitting case with a belt clip stud on the back. That means that all of the "device only" cradles, like what was in the prior message, won't work. I was thinking about the Seidio because it allowed for a skin case. Now that I hear it isnt very useful, I must consider other alternatives. Has anyone had success with the Seidio cradle?
Like I mentioned, my other alternative is to make my own by form fitting some sort of modeling compound around my Kaiser with case, then embedding the 3-in-1 cable in the compound at the right angle to fit the connector, then forming it to the correct angle. Sounds like a weekend project, now I just need to find the right material to do so. Hmmmmm.
Does anyone use, or have experience/testing with, the Herbert Richter range of holders and mounts?
http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=172053 for the Touch Pro specific holder and http://www.expansys.com.au/c.aspx?t=cat&m=1057&c=115 for the full range of mounts (suction, vent, handlebar, etc) to attach the holder too.
http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=172309 is the specific mount I am looking at (for a motorcycle) to use with the above holder.
Thanks.
Oh wow these look good and affordable. Better then the universal mount I was going to get, turns out they also make the same universal mount.
Well, I have Herbert Richter holder and mount for HTC Universal (which is a big and heavy phone) and I can say that it holds my UNI firmly and steady for a year or more... today I'm going to post office to get holder and tower arm for Touch PRO (I could use the same arm I already have and buy only a holder but we have two cars at home, so two arms are needed). I'll report this evening are they still as good as they were.
I have the HR for the Pro. But for a motorcycle i prefer a otterbox or a Ram Aquabox 3.
Photo HR Pro
I have the HR mount for the pro - plus a goose neck windscreen mount (which is great) and a vent mount (which is total cack and has broken my vents!)....

Does the phone sit in the HR mount horizontally or vertically, and is the keyboard opened or closed?
I'll answer my own question since I bought this holder. It holds the phone in a landscape mode, although most of the mounts should allow it to swivel.
Keyboard can't open.
One thing I don't like about this holder is when inserting the phone into the holder you have to drag the phone across a plastic holding clip that will likely scratch the phone.

I hold the clip open as I slide the Pro in it.
Herbert Richter Mount
I want something similar. Looks like a good idea. I wanna use mine along with Gmeter to do performance testing on my bike. I think i will zip tie it to the clip though, seeing as the launches are kinda violent.
Let me know if you get that mount. I want to know what you think of it.
Has anyone seen a horizontal desktop cradle for the raphael? Essentially something that would allow the keyboard to stay open.
Thanks,
d
Found this one on the net.. looks cool.

Yea I wouldn't recommend this one. I bought one since I figured the $10 was an acceptable risk. Fuze was a VERY tight fit with my Bodyguardz installed. The rotate was cool but less useful than I thought. 2 days later my Fuze stopped being recognized while sitting in the cradle. I've spent more for stupider stuff so I'm over it. Time to order a new cradle. Something more conventional this time.
Mine
I had a cradle laying around from my 8125. I just had to rework the plug due to different orientation. It works great when I use it because I like to keep keyboard open. Will post a pic later.
How about this?

Why not buy a cheapie $5. windsheild car mount. They swivel, adjust angle, work with an open or closed device. You can use your wall charger or sync cable and even mount it up out of the way, like on the side of your computer!
I have extended battery and the phone stays on the side with screen slided out and usb cable connected. No need for cradle at all.
