I have only had my XDA 2 for a week and I can’t get my Motorola 810 head set to work. The XDA finds it and tells me that it is compatible with headset profiles but it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone advise me?
Thanks
Andy
Have you followed the procedure for pairing the device,ie: place xda in discover mode, when it finds the headset, tap then enter code for pairing, once paired switch bluetooth to on, then make sure you have bluetooth headset turned on from the main/today screen.
I seem to have problems with my bluetooth headset every once in a while also. I have a HBH65. On ocassion, the connection doesn't seem to be working even though headset is enabled and they are paired. I've found that if I soft reset the XDA2, that the bluetooth headset will work again.
Have you installed towas bluetooth tools patch, this fixes a lot of problems with bonding and alos makes things work where they couldnt before. I was told that the latest rom release here in UK was going to address all these problems too but I havent got around to upgrading yet, I hope it supports full headset profiles so I can originate calls from the headset as well as answering the call.
I have downloaded the new Rom update and it seems no different. I have tried a soft reset and this did not improve the situation.
I know the headset works fine as I use it with my nokia handset with no problem.
Has anyone got a Motorola 810 that works ok on the XDA ?

did the bluetooth tools patch support voice dial from bluetooth headset? if not did anyone know the new rom from O2 works with this function? thanks!
Andy, no it doesnt support originate call from headset but it did allow lots of different gps and headsets to work, the headsets work for answer call/drop call only as far as I know, in the notes for the xda2 upgrade it mentions the headset profile but I dont know if anybody has hot the headset facility to work yet, I havent upgraded yet so I am yet to test it.
I have installed the new ROM and as far as I can see it does nothing for Bluetooth beyond fixing some compatibility issues on some headsets. It still only allows one headset profile (so if you have a headset and a handsfree kit as I do you need to delete bonded pairs when you change devices - now there's intelligent functionality!!). No headset dialing so still not a complete BT headset implementation. No handsfree support.
Anyone else think that the XDAII is a great PDA but about the worst apology for a GSM phone in the last 10 years?
If anyone can point me to a decent set of BT tools to add on let me know.
Not really.
I fully agree the XDAII is a poor phone, with the best agenda and contact list available, but that is!
I wonder if Phone-pda makers are really going the so called "convergence" way.
To date, and after many different PDA/phone/PDA-Phone devices I've tried, no one is even close to the mark.
Something so "simple" such as merging an OLD Ericsson (or Sony-Ericsson) T-68 phone abilities, with just a PPC 2002 (yes, not even 2003) PDA, should produce a combo, no machine on the market is even close to.
IT'S SO DIFFICULT?

Hey guys. I have an XDA II and the Motorola Bluetooth headset. I gave up trying to use the headset before the updated XDA II ROM as it was very temperamental to say the least. Now I have updated the ROM its much better but I still have problems. If I am dialling out and put the headset on first then its fine, transfers to the headset etc. If I am wearing the headset and then take a call its fine, transfers to headset etc. But if I am not wearing the headset, say it’s in its case and the arm is closed then I get a call, I open the arm and stick the headset on and answer a call and nothing. Wont transfer to headset and I need to use the phone. Not good when driving! Is this still a XDA II problem? Have I set it up wrong or is the headset not working right? Bascially I need to have the arm open on the headset at all times for it to work like it should (like it did on my T68i) and its very annoying? Any ideas?
This is the headset http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/software/ss_html_docs/bluetooth/bluetooth_headset_info.pdf
Thanks in advance
Have you installed bluetooth tools? Unbond your headset then rebond after installing bluetooth tools.
What the best place to get the bluetooth tools from? Sorry if this has already been asked. And are they free??
Thanks
Yeah I did try bluetooth tools but it did not seem to make any difference maybe its just my headset, it was like one of the first Bluetooth headsets out :? I dunno...
You can get Bluetooth tools from...http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/
And it seems to be free
Thanks for that.
However, I could not find the settings button, Just a display on the screen. What are the 1 & 2 buttons for??
:?
Yeah the only changes you see are when adding new devices like headsets etc as far as I know. I thought the same as you, went through all the options looking for it hehe. Those two things on the screen are something to do with selecting different settings for bluetooth to conserve battery like always on or auto off. I am not too sure as I removed it when it did not fix my problem!
Yeah, I removed it too. It caused me all sorts of problems with connecting my bluetooth jabra bt200!
Any ideas what could be causing this or more importantly how to fix it?? Thanks! the headset is a aliph jawbone
Did you try using a different headset? From my experiences, even the same brand of headsets can have different voice quality depending on the model.
it is defiantly not the headset. This brand is the BEST ONE on the market. I just reinstalled my phone and have the same problem but i refuse to believe it is the headset. I am going to try it on a different phone tonight.
it could be the jawbone.. and no its not the BEST ONE on the market as u put it.. try another BT and see if u hear the sound.. if u dont then guess what its your BEST ONE jawbone.. but if u do hear the sound its your bluetooth so try updating the radio
i tried the jawbone with another phone and it works on that. So it IS the wizard. And yes it is the best, unless you happen to have a recommendation for another one because it looks like i might be in the market for a new one. Any idea what i could update my radio to? I just updated to molski.biz's newest rom so i have
ROM: 3.3.0.0
IPL: not included
SPL: not included
Radio: 1.19.11
AKU: AKU3.3
i really want to get this thing going this headset is immaculate.
okay i updated the radio rom to 2.69 and it is STILL happening. I have found one other report of this happening with a wizard on the web somewhere and there was no solution on there. Is it my wizard? Other bluetooth things work fine (my GPS works perfectly) And once connected This one works gine also. it is just this initial loud buzzing noise.
It doesn't even happen if i pick it up form the phone then there is noise.
it only seems to happen when i hit the "call accept" button on the side of my bluetooth headset.
i remember my jabra 250v not working w/ my samsung t809 but other ear peices would.. however, my buddies jawbone works with my 8525.. i recommend taking the ear peice to cingular store and have them try to pair it with one of thier phones.. either a 8125 or 8525 or even 3125 and see if it works without any issues..
i think i am going to do that on friday. i have like another 20days before i have to return it. Thank you for your help. This is so lame i really REALLY love the headset :-/
I use a Motorola Handsfree BT kit in my car and with my 8125 callers hear the same thing. It's not as loud if I hit the answer button on my phone vs. the Motorola remote answer button.
It was a lot worst before I flashed my phone with WM6. Seems better now.
My theory is that it's feedback from the phone's mic with my set but if you are using a headset that wouldn't be the case.
My callers will have to put up with it.
Scott
sounds like the exact same problem
so lame. i wonder if it is hardware defect.
I have an MDA with a jawbone as well and my callers say they hear the same loud buzz!
Okay so it is probably a problem with the phone it self, i bet it is how sensitive the mic is. The Jawbone and it's very sensitive mic and a bluetooth car one that also probably has a very sensitive mic both have the issue. I wonder if theres any solution to this.
Try turning off the vibrate option on the phone- that solved this exact same problem for me...
can anyone verify that? i stupidly returned my jawbone yesterday before i saw it cause i had given up hope but i'd gladly by a new one if that was true =) (headset > vibration imo) Thanks!
I have a Plantronics 640 and disabling vibrate solves the problem for me.
So. Lame. Oh well. looks like i need to rebuy my headset. Doh. Thanks all for your input. Someone should add htis to a wiki/faq as it is a very cruddy problem.
Hi there,
Finally I assume I found out why some people have problems with their unit using BT and others not.
Those, who use BT headsets only (not stereo) and don't use the AD2P and AVRCP Profile don't have any problems. (I can confirm this - tested it with HBH-660 and Motorola without any troubles!)
And those people who have a stereo headset like the HBH-DS980 (which I own personally) and/or do own a car radio that can receive AD2P signals to transfer Stereo sound, face with the BT disconnections while listening to music and/or during a call or just right after...
So I think SE should solve this issue quickly as it seems to be a problem in WMP 6.1 in accordance to X1 hardware with AD2P / AVRCP profile devices.
So I start a poll for anyone who could confirm this or not !
BTW: I am using the Generic AT ROM but this BUG is affected through all other ROMs too, so that shouldn't matter -
Thanks,
Freako
My kenwood headunit uses avrcp and a2dp and works fine.
There was a discussion on this issue already and it does exist w/ my AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) as well w/ all the A2DP headsets I tried (SE DS220/205/980, JVC BT-1, ClipD R Radio, Jabra (forget what model)) so far
I believed the bluetooth issue that R2A fixed is another one where BT will turn itself off if not use for a while.
The 'turn off' issue is still there with mine! I had it only after 2,3 days but then continuously turn off by itself! Now, still happening! Generic_UK R2A
Generic Swedish R2A.
No problem for Bluetooth! But when I softreset x1 via spb mobile shell panell it crashes on boot.

Yes absolutely Jackleung, you're right, the new firmware should have fixed the automatic turn off of BT only, but I belive what michaelthemage said, that it still exists after his UK firmware update so do I - today the BT icon dissapeared suddenly - so it was turned off automatically ... very curious...
Anyway, Jackleung, you say that this problem was present in earlier WM6 machines like the Kaiser? As far as I know I did not try a stereo BT headset on my previous Tytn II but you say it seems to be a bug in WM6.1 in general, right ?
Very interesting that trinode doesn't have these problems with it's Kenwood headset - maybe I give it a try if it isn't too expensive -
On the other way Persian Boy links it with the SPB Shell - I do have the standard SBP Panel that you can download from web. Maybe I should uninstall it and try again - maybe the SPB panel makes these troubles? Personally I can't imagine, but will try anyway -
So far,

So you did try transferring music to the kennwood radio and there were no problems like sudden disconnections or so?
Thanks,

The problem I am talking about is A2DP/Headset disconnected after phone call, and I have to re-connect it after that. I don't thinks it's WM6 or SPB panel issue since only HTC devices (X1, Kaiser w/ no SPB install) have this issue. My other device Asus P525 (WM6/6.1 w/ Widcomm bt stack) or Eten M600 (WM6 w/ MS BT stack) do not have this issue.
Is anyone with the Bluetooth problem running MS Voice Command? I'm still on R1A. I had no trouble at all using my Motorola T505 A2DP kit, but when I installed MSVC, the stupid thing would drop out as soon as I picked up a call. Uninstalling MSVC seems to have done the trick.

Hi, yes I have Voice Command 1.6 on my device. It's working pretty well, but I know, what you're talking about -
Please try it with a usual BT headset (without the AD2P / AVRCP profiles!) if you have this possibility, - you'll see that it will work without any hassle.
I made this experience after I tried the HBH-660 and a Motorola headset.
Anyway - the new firmware R2A is recommended, even if the BT issue isn't solved.
But interesting to know that it seems to be a bug in HTC machines... so it will exist in further firmware updates... probably... I personally don't hope so....
No problems with the Sony HBH-IS800's and the bluetooth turning off randomly.
I have a problem with the WIFI randomly turning itself on during phone calls but no problems with anything turning off.
I have HBH-DS980 and I don't have any problems with disconnecting it on my X1 - not with R2A and not with R1A UK roms, also tested few modifided roms and there woudn't any problems too. I am also using SE MBW-150 watch and it also don't disconnect's with X1 (tested with R1A and R2A). I have BT turned on in my X1 all the time (previously in R1A rom and now in R2A) and after I turn on my HBH-DS980 headsets it will connect with them automaticly. Only sometimes I have to switch off and switch on againg BT to get connected with headsets but I think its headsets problem not the phone. But I never had a problem with suddenly disconnecting (not even once).

Thank you very much ell82, but maybe I should describe more specifically - disconnections also happens after calls - for example, if you switch on your BT headset (in this case the DS-980), you see a symbol next to the BT symbol on the top of the phone, that indicates, that a BT headset is connected. Now, I figured out, that after calls this symbol dissapears and the BT headset dissconnects, so I have to push the button on the DS-980 again to get connected with the phone, you know? And when I get a call, the phone does not automatically transfer the call to the headset, I always have to push the button on it first, to be connected again...
And you also confirm that sometimes you have to switch the BT on and off again - this is absolutely the same with my phone.
You assume it is a problem with the specific headset DS-980 ? Maybe, but SE support told me that there is no firmware update or sth. similar for this type... what a pity -
Anyway I hope it is not a hardware bug of the phone - I haven't heard of any phone that was repaired or refurbished because of the Bluetooth bug.
Ok, so can we say that the HBH-DS980 will not work with X1 as it should do ?
This is very pity, because it is the top of thir line of headset products... and I liked it very much on my previous P1i and it worked perfectly on it...

This is exactly the same issue I am talking about and it's NOT specific to DS-980 alone. I tried DS-980, DS-205, DS-220, JVC BT-1, Clip-D Radio, and one Jabra model. And they all have the same issue on my X1 and Kaiser. (but not on my Asus P525 and Eten M600). The issue not happening 100% of the time but at least 80% which is enough to be frustrated.

Yes, 80% of that time is ok, but the 20% lead to be very frustrated - ABSOLUTELY !!
In a time (2009) were bluetooth does exist several years and where all bugs should have been cleared over the years..., the truth shows that there still exist "minor/major?" bugs in current phones...
BT Headset problems
I can confirm that the problems with BT and HBH-DS970 are a fact - and it seems to drain the battery enormously. I have tested for a few days the PV 710 (Mono handsfree), no issue. Today with the 970 my battery was empty after 6 hours standby, and it was disconnected allthough the icon said "BT-Stereo-Headset connected! After switching it off, the icon remained. Strange, isn´t it?
I come from P1i and there was no such problem at all.
I experience the same problem. New NL firmware and a Volkswagen (Bury OEM) Bluetooth carkit. My Nokia 6500 and SE K850i work perfectly but terminating a call makes the BT connection disappear on a fairly regular base. If the other party terminates it usually stays connected
...very strange but anyway it seems that it is mainly affected with AD2P / AVRCP devices - I hope it is just a software/firmware bug that can be fixed easily and not caused by a hardware failure....
Sorry guys but again I have to say it doesnt effect on my X1 and DS-980, never and I'm using it a lot. Have you guys tried it on fresh phone, without any additional software?

The first thing after the purchase of the phone was to couple the device with the DS-980 headset and the bluetooth issue was really not expected and made me angry and at that time I didn't have any extra software on it...
When did you buy your headset ? I bought mine approx. 1 1/2 years ago...
Maybe the current items go better with the X1?? I don't know.
But we found out that this issue was also caused in other Windows Mobile devices like the Kaiser, TyTn etc.
The poll shows significantly that there are still some who have troubles with bluetooth, even after update-
AND now we can ask them if any of you have tried the headsets with clean and fresh install ? (Xperia X1 without any additional software, even without sbp panel, etc...! )
I am curious...

I've spent days searching and trying all sorts of tweaks but I can't get anything to work. Can anyone PLEASE help!
I use Tomtom 7 and I've always sent the voice instructions to the bluetooth speaker in my bike helmet (just a handsfree paired item). I've previously done this on HTC devices with BTAudio and a one line registry tweak. Can anyone offer a solution to send all the audio to a bluetooth handsfree on the HD2?
I really hope someone can help, I've got the HD2 setup just right except for this last remaining item.
Many thanks,
i have the same problem...
@noony i think u have already enabled in bt setting the option "manage system audio in handsfree device" if u didnt...try that
for me doesnt work maybe its a headphone problem i see a sort of "fhhh" when any sound is played on phone but still come out from the speeker
another issue... every time i start a call with bt the volume is at the lower level..internal and headphone too! and the last is very strange because with my artemis didnt do

Yes I've tried the "manage system audio in handsfree device" option. I can get some background noise on the headsets (I'm trying with a Scala Rider and Motorola 700 & 850) but I never manage to get any sound.
Can anyone please offer a solution? It's a big disappointment for me if this isn't possible. Any suggestions welcome, many thanks.
My Observations
I pared it with my BMW and for the life of me cant ger any audio (music) over bluetooth ( the phone works fine) I then tried it on a $20 bluetooth earpiece I ocassionally use for the phone and guess what I can play music over it fine.
I tried and tried again in the car but could not get it to work.
I think some bluetooth devices will not work. Is there a different specifiaation for bluetooth ir BT1 and BT2 ??
I havent checked into this yet.....

It gives me some hope that you've got it to work with one bluetooth device. Can you please let me know exactly what you did to get the $20 bluetooth earpiece to work?
Thanks,
yeah that was my idea but without a stereo bt device i cant try to myself...i ordered to vodafone one with some of my tons of points...3 weeks and no answer!
I had the same issue and on my old phone, the HTC Touch HD, I used the following program to my satisfaction:
BTAudio
On my HTC HD2 however this doesn't seem to work anymore. :-(
it does the same thing of the inbuild bt option on hd2 its just a "quick link" to place on the bar
anyone of u have any problem with bt device volume? before i have an Artemis and 3 different device i used the device volume was every time the one i choose...now every time a new call starts phone volume its right but device volume jump to minimum level and every time i have to press + button like as i'm playing videopoker to dont miss fist seconds of a conversation
Works fine with Jabra 3030, all audio over it, music, system sounds and calls.
Maybe it's only working for bluetooth devices that are setup as stereo. Can anyone please offer a solution here?
I've installed a 6.5 rom (dutty v7 - thank you) on my HD and after a sprite restore (level 2) bluetooth audio divert works fine. Although I notived that the bluetooth options remained the old settings (possibly due to my backup restore) and the divert was done using the BTAudio. Sorry to keep asking but if anyone can shed light on this.
Is it possible to tweak the HD2 so that audio can be sent to any bluetooth headset/handsfree or is there some hardware limitation that stops this from being done?
I've tried every app and tweak that I can think of! Please can anyone help, even iof it's to let me know why this can't be done.
Thanks,
its what we all are trying to do......now i think its only a bt device problem...if it support bt2.1 and a2dp with edr seems to work all good....
i solved in car with headphone in the box...but bluetooth should be much and much better without any cable that always have to remove nodes (its the right word? sorry if not hehe)
I'm connecting to my HD2 using Jabra Stone, an A2DP headset. When I selected the stereo headset profile on the HD2, it redirected all system sounds to the headset: reminders, SMS alert, soundtrack for videos, audio player....except phone ring. I used BT Audio over a non-A2DP headset before with Diamond2, but the ausio is very poor, and the connection drops very often. Since I changed to A2DP headsets, the Diamond2 and HD2 supports it out of the box - no hack needed.
So look for A2DP headsets if you want to redirect audio.
Thank you to everyone that has helped with replies. I've now got my answer. If the bluetooth device supports A2DP then it works! (just won't work with mono etc)
I've now tested my HD2 with over a dozen bluetooth devices ALL A2DP enabled headsets regardless of if they are cheap or expensive!
Thanks again for everyone taking the time to help.
I have an LG HBM-220 bluetooth and cannot put audio to in, only phone calls!
How can i manage to do it?
I blame it on the stupid Widcomm Bluetooth stack... If the HD2 used the better MS stack, BT would play nice with with more of our periphirals and apps
I can't use MSVC properly with BT either....
the solution is to go to the bluetooth settings, select your device and connect the stereo audio connection.
Way back, Microsoft decreed that ONLY the phone app could use a mono BlueTooth headset, although any audio could be redirected to a stereo A2DP headset.
In order to get around this you need to fudge the sytem with something like BTAudio or TekSoft's BlueAudio.
The latter worked on my XDA Orbits (1 and 2) but does not work on my Touch HD with Dutty's R6 ROM (WM 6.5) possibly because BlueAudio requires the Microsoft BlueTooth stack and I suspect Dutty's ROM has the Widcomm stack. But I could be wrong about that.
BTAudio sort of works on my Touch HD, but outgoing audio is speeded up like I've been breathing Helium.
So no current solution to yet another idiotic gotcha from Microsoft.

Guys
i have a nokia HB-100 headset and i'm experiencing all kinds of strange behavours
sometimes system sounds including music ...etc get directed to the headset and some other time it just directs calls no matter how hard i try thru soft resets or unchecking then checking the "play system sounds ..." option!
very strange, any insights about this? is there a tweak to go with or is it a known WM defect?
