After the first upgrade, I lost all of the notes I had on OneNote, and when I tried to change default saving location, I couldn't find any option for that. I've been told that the only way to do this is to install OneNote on the memory card, meaning that I have to uninstall it first. So I'm wondering if someone knows how I can do that? I can't find OneNote in "Remove programs" in Settings, and don't know any other way to remove programs (other that to just delete random files with the same name in the Windows file).. I would also appreciate an answer for how I can install the program again (its not on the CD you get with the phone)? Thanks for any help..
Btw, some other guy told me that it is possible to do it by editing the Registry on the mobile, but he didn't know exactly how to do it. Anyone who knows?

Anyone know how to associate .txt & .doc files with Word?? Or associate a file type to a certain program??
I dont know what happened, some how they got disassociated with Pocket Word. But than a strange thing happened, I connected my 8125 to my PC and synced with it. I transferred a couple of .doc files over to it and somehow they got associated with Word :-/. I tried to do the same with .txt files but no luck.
Does anyone have any insight on this?
This really chaps my nipples as well.
On Pocket PC X-2003 you could go into file explorer and change file associations right there. Apparently now they don't give people the option by default. What happens when some shmuck program hijacks a filetype? When I saw this functionality missing on my Cingular 2125 Smartphone I wasn't too dissapointed, but it's rediculous that they took this off the PPC platform also.
I think you can still do this with various tweaking programs. Just make sure that they support WM 5 before even thinking about it. Not sure if you can find this in freeware or commercial. If you spot anything good that's freeware, please let us know.
RESCO Explorer can do it
Cheers

or you can have a look at the reg fr word, i have found powerpoint and excel, not sure where word is!!
I think gsfinder can do it, for free.

I couldn't find an option with GsFinder to associate apps...but i did one one with Resco Explorer.
Is there anway to change the icon to Pword for a file?? Its still the same as before, but it's working nonetheless. Thanx

What do you mean with "isolate it"?
It's possible to make a separated cab with this? I would built it in on my ext ROM.

Here Check this, I just packed that into cab from my ROM's OEM Package.
It will assign the voice button to alttab
WORKING CAB
I have rebuild your cab because the link inside was corrupted.
I've tried it, and works... perhaps when you invoke the app,it switch directly to the next switch. With SPB ALT-TAB you can see all apps opened, and also select with finger what do you want to restore... It's so cool.
All the other that I've seen, switch directly to next apps like your.
Then here it is, the Spb One:
ANyway in spb plus option there is an option to remove unused component
see in start-setting-system-spb pocket plus
click tools and click uninstall component
It's just an .exe file I copied to my windows directory, created a shortcut and maped it to my ptt button. worls as a standalone app like a charm.
Yes...I have tried too and works great.
It's wonderfull
Thanks.
I've installed on my PDA, it looks very nice!
In the beginning; I couldn't found it. It doesn't make automatically a shortcut to Programs. So I made it and made a shortcut too in the Traylaunch of Battery Status and as first shortcut in START. Where did you made shortcuts to this program?
Its cool~
And how about a soft-reset short-cut??
SPB Pocket Plus Voice Command Functions
Well, this thread already solved my Alt-Tab need from SPB. Has anybody been able to get the Voice Command functions to work without SPB fully installed?
I'm a voice command fan and use it constantly with a bluetooth head set. It was great to just say: "Start - Suspend" after ending a call and the phone would go into standby or "Start - Screen saver" and the screen would turn off when I'm on WIFI downloading something and want to save some battery life. I looked for these on SPB Mobile Shell and aren't available.
Anybody solved this?
maybe this is interesting for you:
MSCEInf is a nice tool which lets you analyze every .cab file:
it shows you all files, all directories and registry entries. and you can extract single files if you want.
with it i simply extracted the alttab.exe file from pocketplus and copied it on my ppc. so i didn't need to install the app.
A little more help
Ok, I could consider myself a power user, but I'm not at that level just yet. (better said, I gotta long way to go)
I got the software, I was able to Identify the executioner which would be spbservices.exe, now, how do I pull it out? Would I need to modify any registry?
Thanks
this one is really easy:
just drag&drop the cab file into the WinCE Cabs Analyser. then go to the "files" tab (if it is named so. i use the german build) and in the list with the file id 20 there is a "alttab.exe".
one simply drag&drop and you have your file ^^
I'm getting there
Trust me, it'll be easy for me after this last question:
Where do I drag and drop it? I select it and drop it in which folder? As of yet it's not working. I tried selecting it and dropping it over any other folder in Windows and it tells me it's unable to read the file, i've tried it on a browsing folder on my PPC and it doesn't answer anything, nor do anything.
Thanks for your patience.
Thanks man!
I was looking for quick-Alt-Tab applications. wunderfull....
Guys, is this copyrighted software? If so, please remove it from the thread.

i use resco file explorer.
it has the lock/encrypt option in any file in your device!
also (and that is very nice for me) if you make the installation by your pc(and not by cab) the encrypt option is working and at your pc!!
tested years now,in xp and vista

FreeOTFE is a free, open source, "on-the-fly" transparent disk encryption program for PCs and PDAs.
Using this software, you can create one or more "virtual disks" on your PC/PDA. These disks operate exactly like a normal disk, with the exception that anything written to one of them is transparently, and securely, encrypted before being stored on your computer's hard drive.

This works great on my HD2.
*Windows Mobile 5 has a version of the application 'Notes' in which there is a 'recognise' feature that translates all of your handwritten words, numbers and characters into plain text, after you have written them.
I have located the .exe on in the windows folder of my old Xda Stealth, but it is a read-only file type, so i am unable to get it.
This is not to be confused with an Input method, such as "Transcriber" or "Letter Recogniser", which converts your handwriting as you write it. This is a recognition feature intergrated into the stock program 'Notes' in windows mobile 5.
If someone can get that specific version of the 'Notes' application then present it to me in a format that would allow for me to install it and run it on Windows Mobile 6 i will pay them 10 American dollars via paypal.
The program MUST have the recognise feature, as that is what i am after.
Hope you can help!
I managed to overwrite the notes.exe and note_prj.dll with those from WM5, but they do not work - they don't even start. So I think this is impossible, unfortunately .
damn, im wondering if there is another program which has this feature. Because the "Transcriber" is pretty bad if you ask me, there's too much pause between writing and recognising for it to be of any use.
I'm wondering why they got rid of the feature in windows mobile 6?
Yeah, though I didn't know it before, it indeed does seem strange why they removed this feature .
They removed it (I think) because of sync-ing to Exchange or something.
Best bet I think is to get hold of WritePad or similar - you can use handwriting and it will recognise text.
thanks a bunch
Could download MyScriptStylus? that has hand writing recognition?
+ $10 from me!
I am realy missing this feature! I don't want an other application - Notes can be synced with Outlook and the recognition worked great!
I already extraced an original WM5 ROM, recmodded notes.exe and note_prj.dll, checked dependencies, recmodded the other files, put them all together in one folder and copied them over to my smartphone (WM6.5). As Livven already wrote: Notes does not even start.
I don't need a CAB-file for installation. I just need to know which files need to be copied and/or replaced. I will make an installation file myself because I need the german version!
are you talking about standard Notes -> Menu -> Tools -> Recognize in WM50?
indeed i am, the function is not present in the Windows Mobile 6/6.5 version, and i much desire to use it. It is far more reliable and useful than software that converts your handwriting as you write it
YES, that's what we are talking about!!!
I hate to ask on here because I feel like the answer should be obvious but it hasnt been.
I imported the latest AT&T ROM for the Tilt 2 in to OSKitchen and have been customizing/modding the heck out of it. Added my own software, removed most of the AT&T crap. Changed SYS to 21916 and even 2019 Manila without difficulty.
What is stumping me? The stupid default shortcuts for things like ActiveSync or email setup , remote destop Windows Live etc...
Most apps I have changed the app.dat to modify location for most things that I kept. However I have searched in both sys and EXT for prov.xml files, reg files basically ALL file contents looking for the likes of the apps above and just CANT find reference to them.
Is there some default behavior that says if a .lnk file exists in windows make a shortcut in the root of "Programs" ? or what am I missing. (Even that doesnt hold water though because activesync is actually async.lnk.
I know I can use something like mortscript to just move them around but this is more about wanting to know what the heck I seem to be missing. Thanks in advance and hopefully this isnt a stupid question.

Try look in the initflashfiles.dat file.
Lol sure enough. More proof positive that Win7 search is garbage. I had it search file contents but for whatever reason it didnt find those shortcuts because it didnt search that file and it is indexed.
You can change the name of the actual .lnk then using an app.dat rename it and place it in where you'd like. I was having this problem with WM Live so I renamed the actual "WLMLauncher.lnk" to "_WLMLauncher.lnk" and then added this line:
Code:
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Internet"):-File("Windows Live.lnk","\Windows\_WLMLauncher.lnk")
to an app.dat in the Start Menu section of my kitchen.
This way whatever is natively calling that link won't be able to recognize it anymore.
If you're simply having trouble finding all the .lnks, just search your SYS XXXXX directory for ".lnk" and that should pull up all the async and email links that you're having trouble with.
