Hi, I would extract the task switch and "alt-tab" included in spb pocket-plus... I think that it's the best, but the entire suite is too big.. about 4,5MB. Anyone can tell me a way for do that.
Does anyone had already tried to do somethings like this...
Thanks

What do you mean with "isolate it"?
It's possible to make a separated cab with this? I would built it in on my ext ROM.

Here Check this, I just packed that into cab from my ROM's OEM Package.
It will assign the voice button to alttab
WORKING CAB
I have rebuild your cab because the link inside was corrupted.
I've tried it, and works... perhaps when you invoke the app,it switch directly to the next switch. With SPB ALT-TAB you can see all apps opened, and also select with finger what do you want to restore... It's so cool.
All the other that I've seen, switch directly to next apps like your.
Then here it is, the Spb One:
ANyway in spb plus option there is an option to remove unused component
see in start-setting-system-spb pocket plus
click tools and click uninstall component
It's just an .exe file I copied to my windows directory, created a shortcut and maped it to my ptt button. worls as a standalone app like a charm.
Yes...I have tried too and works great.
It's wonderfull
Thanks.
I've installed on my PDA, it looks very nice!
In the beginning; I couldn't found it. It doesn't make automatically a shortcut to Programs. So I made it and made a shortcut too in the Traylaunch of Battery Status and as first shortcut in START. Where did you made shortcuts to this program?
Its cool~
And how about a soft-reset short-cut??
SPB Pocket Plus Voice Command Functions
Well, this thread already solved my Alt-Tab need from SPB. Has anybody been able to get the Voice Command functions to work without SPB fully installed?
I'm a voice command fan and use it constantly with a bluetooth head set. It was great to just say: "Start - Suspend" after ending a call and the phone would go into standby or "Start - Screen saver" and the screen would turn off when I'm on WIFI downloading something and want to save some battery life. I looked for these on SPB Mobile Shell and aren't available.
Anybody solved this?
maybe this is interesting for you:
MSCEInf is a nice tool which lets you analyze every .cab file:
it shows you all files, all directories and registry entries. and you can extract single files if you want.
with it i simply extracted the alttab.exe file from pocketplus and copied it on my ppc. so i didn't need to install the app.
A little more help
Ok, I could consider myself a power user, but I'm not at that level just yet. (better said, I gotta long way to go)
I got the software, I was able to Identify the executioner which would be spbservices.exe, now, how do I pull it out? Would I need to modify any registry?
Thanks
this one is really easy:
just drag&drop the cab file into the WinCE Cabs Analyser. then go to the "files" tab (if it is named so. i use the german build) and in the list with the file id 20 there is a "alttab.exe".
one simply drag&drop and you have your file ^^
I'm getting there
Trust me, it'll be easy for me after this last question:
Where do I drag and drop it? I select it and drop it in which folder? As of yet it's not working. I tried selecting it and dropping it over any other folder in Windows and it tells me it's unable to read the file, i've tried it on a browsing folder on my PPC and it doesn't answer anything, nor do anything.
Thanks for your patience.
Thanks man!
I was looking for quick-Alt-Tab applications. wunderfull....
Guys, is this copyrighted software? If so, please remove it from the thread.

I'm just a newbie here on the board as well as a user of an O2 XDAII.
I would just like to ask if anybody have made a stop-watch or timer software that could be installed on the XDAII?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, actually I have as my first attemt at a .Net CF application.
It is a very simple stopwatch/strokecount application. If you want it, I can upload it.
That was a quick reply... please do upload it. If it is not a hassle, can you also indicate on how do I load it....I am really very new with my new toy..it's too high tech for my existing knowledge. TIA Kim
Now, as you will be able to see, it is an application in a very rough stage. AND there is a little thing that is not implemented (Save splits).
What you do is you unpack the zip file to a folder on your harddrive. Then you uploade the exefile to your XDA II using ActiveSync and Explore. (You just press the explore button in ActiveSync and you can copy/paste the .exe file to your device there.)
You can put the exefile anywhere, but you have to your Explore on your XDA II to execute the file. (I think you can make the program show in programs by placing a link in the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder)
Now, in order to use the app, here is a little explanation of the buttons.
Time gives you the pace of your presses. You have to press this button 3 times before you get a result. It gives you the number of presses you would have if you continued for 1 minute. (Used in rowing and swimming)
Then you have your start/stop button, and a split button. And the reset, just clears the boxes. Unfortunatly I have not made it pause. When you stop the watch, it starts from 0. This will be in another release
Hope you can use it, and do not hesitate to come with some surgestions.
Oh, and by the way, if you have .Net framework 1.1 installed on your pc, you can try out the application on that too....
You can also try these freewares:
Pocket Counter
StopTime
You may find them in the PocketPCFreewares site
tnx to you two
I don't know what else you are adding to the app but I would suggest button mapping.

Actually that was part of my first alpha version made in eVC++ 4.0. But after switching over to C# and .Net I haven't gotten around to it. BUT it is going to be in there.

Turist: you might want to read some of OdeeanRDeathshead's posts. I don't think he was being ironic.
Frankly, I've never found it difficult to write shortcuts by hand, but the sktools app is great, as ever.
V
There was no irony. As I was reading your post I was coding my app to check on startup its current location then generate a new shortcut to replace its existing one in the startup folder. One reason i use a shortcut done by hand is to get the command line arguments in it. I use the command line to tell my program if it is being started after a soft reset. If it is it minimises itself after a couple of seconds. Of course I don't need to look up the icon because my shortcut is for my executable, from memory it was just trial and error getting the correct icon for things like poutlook. I think any shortcut generator would have to be able to copy the info from existing shortcuts to make it useable over different versions/os etc.

ps: got myself vs2005, msd, wm5 sdk. would like to try to make an xml-parsing/registry-editing engine for universal registrytweaking tool. I really like the idea of RegistryWizard-tool, but not very much its design and functionality. will see...
I just finished updating my file open dialog. It can now create shortcuts that have command line arguments and it can extract the icons and their id from any file that contains them (exe dll). This will be available shortly as part of my almost (really) finished project.

Great! And please notice - i`m not chraging you for this brilliant idea
will it be available as standalone utility too?
The shortcut functionality will not be limited in any way on the program, but no, it will not be stand alone. I tested on jamin today (wm2005) and the handle htc give for the port is good, unlike the atom. I spent the last week converting my lists in the file open dialog to owner drawn to try and cut the display time on the windows directory. It has 1300 items and was taking 23 seconds, I have cut that to 7 seconds. Resco take 3.
I want to be able to select my video and music from the today screen . Is there a way I can put a short cut there ?
At the moment I have to select start, pictures & videos,my docs, videos and scroll to the file I want to play.
Maybe I need to install a jukebox or something huh?
You need either a launcher (like iLauncher) today plug-in or something like WisBar Advanced 2 & WA Desktop.
equally you can use PHMTrayLaunch to do this...
There're many Today launchers. Please check out my review of iLauncher ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=561&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ) and the links back to my earlier reviews. I've thoroughly compared most available solutions; based on these reviews, you'll be able to choose the best for you.

How do I install this ?
presumably I unzip it first on the PC and then transfer all the files to a folder (which one) on the wizard and run the exe file from there ??
could you spell it out for dumbo here please
pretty straight forward really.....download----unzip----place application somewhere on you device----launch it----place a checkmark in "Enable TrayLaunch".
Once you have that done click on Add and make shortcuts to whatever you want....i.e. a shortcut to PIE might be like this \Windows\InternetExplorer.lnk or a shortcut to the Midlet Java Manager would be something like \Windows\jmm.exe
Personally I have the PHMTrayLaunch stored in the \Windows directory then I created a shortcut to it in PHMTrayLaunch so I can call it easily...
so.. there´s anyway, or hack that allow us to change the spb mobile shell icons?
I'd like to do this as well cannot see how at the moment
SPB stuff is never as customizable as I want it to be. That's the problem with their products, IMHO. If it weren't for that, I would definitely be using Mobile Shell right now, but I want an application launcher of my own choosing, not their stupid one that is mostly about built in WM applications. If someone is able to hack Mobile Shell to customize it fully, I would be very gracious.

It actually allows you to map any programs that you want - you should try it.
The 'programs' is automatically based on recently used programs, or programs that you can pin in place. There is also a user menu where you can add/delete components as you want..

Yeah, I hate that. Makes no sense either, since you can customize icons in Pocket Plus.
Well, who knows how to change the "internet" to go to picsel browser instead of IE, and maybe remover organizer with something else from the second page?
I believe all the graphics and layouts are in the .dat files in the SPB Mobile directory. However these .dat files are password protected zip files.

Just go to SPB Mobile Shell Setting -> Now tab -> Options (or something alike, I have russian version) and set calendar to No.
all dat files - zip it closed password (applies to SPB Plus) Password b0fm18zq
If even simpler: open file in PhotoShop, make a copy on a copy! -- draw with layers and so forth - with copies in the copy buffer - impose on the original - link sectors - remain with "SAVE" - SHELL and PLUS - very sensitive palette to change - if the file is simply to preserve the "SAVE AS ...." and the changing palette of color and depth.
sorry for bad English
for example View attachment qp_menu_btn.zip
unzip and replace it in mobile shell folder, then soft reset.
not difficult.. not impossible.
1. copy all of the graphics (png's)
2. make new ones and name them the same way (using Photoshop)
3. Stop the processes associated with SPB all of them and more. basicaly put it into "safemode for a ppc" kill all but the essential processes.
4. replace the old files with the new ones and reboot.
Note: the new files have to be identical in format (ex: PNG 24bit 96pxlX96pxl) not that it is the actual format.
Good luck.

Try this.... Goto MS2.0 settings, Now screen tab (first one) click on configure, click on calender drop down tab, change setting to: None, One Week, Two Weeks, Three Weeks. Default is on auto.
I cant confirm this will work for you as I haven't tried it. (I just know the setting is there. Let us know if it works for you....
Hummm for some of us Graphically retarded people does this mean that people will be posting themes???
That would be pretty cool if you ask me. But I actually like the MS2.0. I have played and configed my ppc many many many many times now and I think I am at the point where I just want to use it.
Anyway, I do think it would be cool if people posted there own personal themes for MS2.0.

Is there a desktop program that creates Pocket PC shortcuts? Just enter what you want it to point to, and the icon for it, and it spits out the file?
By "just enter what you want it to point to" do you mean you type in the full path?
I have written a utility that creates the lnks for the full path, although no icons are created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2102312&postcount=117
That's pretty much perfect! But does anyone know how to incorperate a .ico?
Whatever icon the program has will be included when the shortcut is placed onto the device...
I see... so there's no way to include an icon in just a shortcut, huh? Interesting
There probably is I just haven't worked it out!
I have worked out how to do it now: http://oldsap.blogspot.com/2006/07/customising-icons-on-your-ppc-shortcut.html
Problem is, it needs the icon to be stored in a dll...
Huh... fair technique, I suppose, although having a third file aside from the program and shortcut can make things hard to manage when file numbers grow to the double digits. Thanks for looking around... good find!
l3v5y.. thank you very much. the app is very useful.

Shortcut Creator crashes under Windows Mobile 6 Standard
Just to let you know - I was able to install this application on my phone (Verizon SMT5800 smartphone, running Windows Mobile 6 Standard (i.e., no touch screen). However, when I ran the application, it crashed immediately, and locked the phone up so that I had to take the battery out in order to reboot the phone and regain control.
there is an OLD WinCE program called 'Launch Pad' that does this, but will it run on a smartphone? I guess you could try and see. check this link:

this requires 'Pocket C' runtime here:
